Watching the first make filet fish on the Marina!

We live in Jacksonville and usually hit The Conch House in St Augustine for their live music (especially when Cubby is playing) and water front location. The wait staff is decent and the food can sometimes be hit or miss. The calamari, fish dip and hot artichoke & shrimp bake appetizers are all delicious! The bartenders are awesome especially the ones out at the lounge on the pier. We were there last Friday to hear Chubby play and the place was packed! Everyone one had a great time! The marina has been remodeled and the lounge area has been renovated and expanded. We will be back and I highly recommend The Conch House!!!

Recently I've been to the Conch House Marina twice. The first trip was on a Wednesday evening with my boyfriend and the second trip was on a Sunday afternoon listening to live reggae with friends. My first visit midweek the bar was pretty slow. Service was fast and friendly. My boyfriend and I explored the upper level. If you take the spiral staircase you will find a small room with a round couch which could fit 8 to 10 people comfortably. I wouldn't come up here when the temperature is hot because there appears to be no AC. You can see down into the bar. And during the day I'm sure it's a beautiful view of the bay. My second trip was for Reggae Sunday. It's a $5 cover to get onto the marina. Pass the indoor bar, make a right and walk down the ramp to the floating bandshell. Or better yet follow the music. We arrived late and heard the last four songs. The band was great! There were two bar options on the marina. An outside and inside bar. They are across the marina from one another. Both were crowded but the wait wasn't too bad. There were also several restrooms available. I definitely want to go back for Reggae Sundays but plan to arrive earlier next time!

This is such an awesome little gem from an old style motor lodge with a pool to a wonderful restaurant with the best views. There's always something happening from live music to watching the charters and the catch of the days. I love their shrimp and grits always on point. The crow nest seats are fabulous for a view of Florida sunsets. This place is awesome and if you're really lucky, you might catch an authentic Full Moon Luau on a Saturday night.

Refreshing key lime pie

My mom and I were here in town for my school interview. We went here for lunch one day and the view was fabulous. I had heard they have really great Keylime pie so I made sure to make room for it. The shrimp and grits was amazing. It was so creamy with its roasted red peppers, shrimp, and of course bacon! Can't go wrong with anything that has bacon in it, right? We had to order a second key lime pie because we weren't able to share the one that we ordered.

This place has so much potential, what happened? Reviews are somewhat on point. Staff is friendly and courteous but need management direction and communication. I waited 18 minutes before I was acknowledged by a server. Server apologized and acknowledged there's a communication issue amongst staff. This appears to be a self inflicted wound and management failure. Food was mediocre at best, chef needs to be managed and trained in today's current market in good tasting food. Lots of tourists here, locals seem to come here for the outside seating ambiance, sunsets and cocktails, 5 stars on that.

This is a less conventional Hilton, and that fits very well within St Augustine, since there's nothing conventional about St Augustine either. We took a walking tour of St Augustine and learned a lot about this history of this hotel - the hotel has done an incredible job making itself look less Hilton-like and more like St Augustine. From the back of the hotel, you can barely tell that it's a hotel at all. In the valet area, they have relics of civil rights history native to St Augustine. As far as the rooms, room 140 is the place to stay. It's got a door that opens right out to the pool deck. It's a spacious room with large TV and a comfortable bed, and a great view of A1A, the horse and carriage rides across the street and the water. The location is right in the center of everything - St Augustine is a very walkable town, and you can get from the southernmost to the northernmost area with this hotel right in the middle. Plenty of restaurants and retailers in the neighborhood. The restaurant at this hotel was wonderful for breakfast - extremely friendly, efficient and internationally diverse staff made our stay appear joy. The lobby is attractive and the renovations they've done show true attention to detail. I look forward to returning next month after all the lights go up, since this hotel generally has some of the best holiday lighting in all of St Augustine. From a wonderful location, beautiful rooms, great service, reasonable pricing and sufficient amenities, this is a five-star experience.

The hotel is nicely decorated on the outside to blend in with the historic look of the city. The hotel is very nice inside. I feel like we got the perfect room in room 140 because our room opened up to the pool so I felt like it was our own private pool. The room was very modern and comfortable. We had breakfast at the hotel restaurant and it was a very good experience. We also had a great view of the water.

I had remembered…read morethis hotel was in downtown Saint Augustine, across from Flagler College, when we were going to spend the night in town. I'm glad we did, as we had a lovely night. The room was nice and spacious, with odd closets, but they worked for the time we were spending there. They also had robes if we needed to be bougie and prance around. We slept well and had a nice view of the square between the Lightner Mansion and Flagler College. The staff at the front desk were very friendly and accommodating. They gave good recommendations on how to get around Saint Augustine, which had been a minute for me, so it was good to get a refresher. Sparkling wine at the front desk when we checked in was excellent and helped us unwind after the drive from South Florida. They have a gym and pool that I believe is accessible through the second floor, so I will have to remember that for our return trip. Also, they have a Starbucks on the lobby floor, which was great to get our morning pick-me-up. The bar and restaurant were very stylish, lots of Spanish influence from the 15th and 16th centuries. The cocktails were also solid. I didn't care for the water pressure and temperature, as they were difficult to adjust and ensure we were getting the correct settings. It was pretty scalding hot, so it took a couple of minutes to get it right, and then I kept it on the setting for my wife since I didn't want her struggling to mess with it. Apart from that, the experience was great. We enjoyed the sparkling wine and the accommodations when we checked in. The valet was good to have, as I didn't want to mess with street parking, but it is more expensive; take note.

The restaurant was sub par. For such an upscale hotel, the food does not fit the bill. I ordered…read morethe meatballs and shrimp for an appetizer. The meatballs were stone cold and bland. They weren't slices, they were shreds of tuna. No taste whatsoever. As a travel editor I rate this restaurant with a 1.

I used "reservationdesk.com" (Expedia-?) to make this reservation. The agent PROMISED that we would be on a second floor with a BAYFRONT VIEW. When we arrived at the MARIN HOUSE B&B, there was no waterfront view at all, and we were on the first floor, crammed into a little corner on the property. At check-in, we were basically told that, it's your problem because we used a third-party ("reservationdesk.com"). FINALLY, a week later, we finally got our receipt. Marin House said that they could not even give us a receipt because we went through a third-party. So, one week later, I see that we were charged for three nights, even though we checked out after the first night. ReservationDesk.com said that they contacted Marin House, who told them that since we checked out after the first night, it was against their B&B POLICY, and they are refusing to refund FOR THE TWO NIGHTS THAT WE WERE NOT EVEN THERE!!!!! EVEN THOUGH WE WERE LIED TO ABOUT THE ROOM. Sandy, the owner, got her britches into a big bunch because we were singing, and our choice of language apparently offended the geriatric crowd there.... I felt ZERO ghostly spirits around and no bad juju, which is hard to find in St. Augustine, honestly. Everything was super clean and crisp-looking. It was quaint and quirky, but I enjoyed that about the hotel. It wasn't your run-of-the-mill hotel. The room came with a big TV, a very cozy bed, and a bigger-than-usual mini fridge, which was AMAZINGGG because we had made a pit stop at Buc-ee's for birthday treats and fun... I am obsessed with IHG's bathroom products. Their shampoo is incredible. And the room was pretty quiet- we didn't hear our neighbors. The bar area looked really tempting. We heard the breakfast there is realllllly good- unfortunately, we didn't have time to hang out at the bar or have breakfast. We did pop into the littleee convenience/shop area for a pint of ice cream which hit the spot after coming home from dinner. There is free covered parking below the hotel (and more parking available outside), which is super convenient. The gym looked nice. I love that they had laundry machines.
