This review is for #404. I generally don't write too many negative reviews but this place warrants it- big time. Particularly since this condo was rated "gold" by the management company. It really should be below bronze. The pictures are extremely deceptive! The decoration are stated as "Mediterranean" style. In reality, it is a garage sale hodgepodge of old, grimy, falling-apart kiddie furniture that I would more properly categorize as "Early Halloween". The management and cleaning staff are pleasant. The beach is wonderful. The view is fabulous. The "condo" is a disgrace. The grime on everything is just disgusting. My wife and I had to wipe down everything with alcohol. The metal entrance door is thick with gunk. The cabinets look like they were repurposed from someone's garage. The pots and pans are very few and have unhealthy peeling teflon on the frying pans. There is a space between the stove and the counters where food bits have seemingly fallen down into over the years. The bathroom is missing trim and the edges of the drywall are starting to turn moldy. The tile floors are ok, but we were afraid to walk barefoot. There is zero storage space and almost no counter space in either the kitchen or the bathroom. Most importantly, the sliding glass door has a corroded nonfunctional lock. Someone decided that putting a shower curtain rod in the track would fix everything. Well, curtain rods compress without much pressure, right? There is lots of mismatched, hand-painted furniture. The brown pullout sofa is quite putrid looking and we avoided even sitting on it. Who would sleep on such a grimy thing? The king bed mattress is old and needs replacement. It has two very deep "body imprints". Never again. read more

We have stayed at Beachers lodge three times. First two through Beachers. Last week through Airbnb. Bad idea. The place was beat. The worst part? The shower handle was broken off and they never fixed it though they said they would in two days. We were there 6. Unreal communication from the host. Basically none after the first day. Do not ever rent #402. Or from Derrick! Beachers is a great place with amazing views beach access and pool. Just don't go through Airbnb! read more

This is a gem of a place to stay. You open up the patio doors and right there is the Atlantic ocean. Very friendly staff. Front office employees are delightful. These condos are individually owned, and rented out with a full kitchen appliances ,bedroom bath. Great sunrises right over the ocean. Grab a lawn chair, a blanket walk down to the beach spend all day there. It also has a swimming pool on the facilities. The beautiful town of Saint Augustine is located 10 miles north and if you go down A1A beach, there are many great restaurants to try right next to the beach. And right across from Beacher's Lodge is a tony's pizza for takeout or delivery. Fusion 904 eatery right across the street also an ice cream parlor. A dog shampoo is also located across the street. Been coming here over ten years and little by little they've changed the rules. We used to be able to enjoy sitting with our out of state family by the pool until 10pm. Then they changed it to 8. So we made sure we had first floor rooms with the grassy area. For years we've enjoyed sitting out there in the evenings and reuniting with family. Now this year, we've been told we can't sit there. This is not written in any rules, posted, or told to first floor guests upon check in. It's our last trip here. We used to love getting our family to book a week with us (and then they brought more) the freedom and laid back atmosphere of Beachers Lodge was the best. Now I feel like Beachers Lodge thinks their guests are a bunch of kindergartners who need co start supervision and time outs. We have wonderful memories from over the years, but lately it's been downhill and a complete waste of time and money. I no longer feel like a guest, but like that cousin who insists on coming over and all you want the to do is leave. read more

I stayed at Beacher's Lodge this past weekend while visiting a friend in St. Augustine. This establishment is like a cross between a hotel and condo. Each room has a kitchenette, living area, and bedroom. The buildings are definitely older and the flooring was completely tile in our room but other than that everything was fine. The staff was definitely very friendly and answered my requests in a very timely manner. The best part is that this place is ON the beach! We had a great view of the pool (saltwater) and the beach from our balcony-- the shore is only a short walk away (see pics). I would definitely consider returning to stay here. Smacked in the face walking into the room by that cat Pee smell Immediately went to the office to complain Their response was okay. And they came up to check it out. But immediately turn to well that's a pet free room sir and that's the smell of new carpet. I said I know the smell of new carpet and that's not new carpet. So if that's your story and you're sticking to it that's too bad. We paid $200 for this room and I'm expecting a nice clean room that doesn't smell like animal urine I'll update my review to see how they deal with this issue in the morning on checkout Will update Update 4/21/2015 - Management engaged once I posted my reviews and complaints. We are set to go back and try a different room. So long as the experience is better I expect to raise to 3 maybe 4 starts. But I'm holding off until we go one more time. read more

We loved staying here! My husband and I went to the beach every day. We sat on the balcony every night and watched the sunset. Our room was clean and had everything we needed for cooking. I love that some of the rooms are pet friendly as well as the beach. I loved seeing all the dogs playing. I'm hoping to bring our own dogs when we come back-- and we will definitely be coming back! read more

This is our second stay at Beachers Lodge, and we love it and will continue to stay here when visiting. You can disregard the earlier review for unit 319, as everything was perfect. All units have an oceanfront view, as well as a balcony with a table and 2 chairs. Our unit was nicely decorated with a beach decor, and included a large toaster oven as well. As far as the office personnel, I have no idea what a previous reviewer could have been talking about, since we have found them quite friendly, helpful, and appreciative of our patronage. The beach is huge, at least a hundred yards from the sand dunes to the water's edge at low tide. St Augustine is about 10 miles away, and lots to do there. Don't miss the Fort, El Castillo de San Marco, and the Lightner Museum was enjoyable too. (Check out Groupon) Definitely looking forward to another stay here. read more

This is an absolute gem at Crescent Beach. We fell in love with Beacher's lodge. We enjoyed it so much that we rebooked for a second time before leaving Florida. We stayed at first on the fourth floor then on the second first floor. They are dog friendly. The pool is wonderful! The beach view is unparalleled. The front desk service was helpful. We needed maintenance once, and he was super friendly. Housekeeping was great! I don't have enough positive words to say about this location. We definitely plan to return and stay much longer! Highly disappointed with our room!!! It looked NOTHING like the photos on their website. The room was not kept well. It was half the size as described. The fold out couch had a mattress less than an inch thick. the couch was smelly. My son couldn't sleep on it and my daughter shared my bed. so he ended up sleeping in his car!!! The room had a musty odor. The screen on the window was broken and the bottom was completely off the track. The toilet ran constantly after flushing. Claims to sleep 4 but that's a lie! And only had 2 chairs at the small table! Thank goodness we were there just one night. It was a total waste of money. I do not recommend staying here. read more

First off it is on the beach We got a gold king room ! Tiny ! Can lighting does not work ! Furniture is very dated ! Not even a sofa some weird bed with no arm rest to look like a sofa ! Rusty refrigerator ! Sliding door does not lock has a stick as well as the bedroom window !!! Decor is dated ! Shower is nice and so are fans ! Air unit does not cool living area ! We have been staying at Beachers for the last 10 years and have slowly watched the place go downhill. I told my wife last year that we would give it one more year and I am sorry we did. We stayed in room 128 because the rates were reasonable but we were sorely disappointed. The furniture looked to be 20 years old and all we had in the kitchenette was a hotplate and microwave. The sliding glass door was broken and had no lock only a piece of pvc pipe to protect our stuff when we were away. Anyone at anytime could have waked in and that is particularly scary when u have a 16 y/o daughter sleeping in the living room every night. I knew it was futile to complain to management because they have told me in the past that it is up to the owner to keep the apartment updated. Pool rules were never enforced: seriously overcrowded, food and cigarette buttes everywhere as well as music blasting. Also the grills were filthy. Without a doubt this was our last year. On a positive note the rooms were clean and the staff is accommodating. read more

Pet Friendly Suites on a Pet Friendly Beach! This is THE Place to stay if you want a clean condo style hotel! We have stayed here three times and every time, the staff has exceeded our expectations! They are friendly, always available and answer all questions. The units are clean with everything in operating condition with more amenities than you will ever need to make you feel right at home! We have stayed in a King Suite as well as the Queen Suite. My daughter also stayed in their Studio Units. They are all very well taken care of! Easy access to the beach too! With a CLEAN Beach! We've stayed here multiple times, but this past weekend was on the tail end of a busy season - which is where you can tell how much they care about customer service. They didn't. We never requested housekeeping. Simply asked that they take our garbage and bring new towels. Apparently, at Beachers, that translates to "bring towels once, never come again." That probably wouldn't have been an issue if i'd stayed one night...but I stayed four. Around day three of wiping myself off with Kleenex (because they never brought toilet paper either) I decided I'd never stay here again. Also, our bathroom had a weird leak and our fridge was somehow incapable of opening the whole way. So if you're looking for a place to make meth, where the housekeepers will never wise up because they never clean your room anyway, this is probably the place for you.If you're looking for a decent vacation experience, however, look elsewhere. read more

Cons: An older property and quite dated. Our room was smaller than we expected. It had a small bedroom and a small living room (both about the same size), a very small bathroom and tiny galley efficiency kitchen and a balcony. We spent New Year's weekend here because it was pet friendly, and our condo was cute if a little old. The owners had put some effort into updating it with new flooring, a cute bathroom, remodeled kitchenette and very cozy bedding. I'd say they need to replace the couch and chair as they are dingy looking, and the lamp didn't work. We were on the third floor, and our balcony overlooked the pool area and beach access, so it could be noisy at times due to the beach access. Overall, it was a nice experience, with everything we could need provided in the condo. Since we were staying for a holiday weekend, the prices were more expensive than we would have liked to pay, but their average rates per night are very reasonable considering you are right on the beach. I would recommend staying if you are in the area and are cool with slightly dated but cozy lodging. read more

Stayed here for a Memorial Day retreat. The property is a little dated, but as long as your expectations match what you're paying, then you should walk away as pleased as me and my family did. The property has great views of the ocean and the beach was nice. My only con with the beach is the ability for cars to drive on it. I've just never been a fan of it. The room was a bit small, but we spent minimal time in it. It was clean and the rooms wifi and cable tv were nice at night when winding down. When we were searching chain hotels that were in 'walking' distance of the beach, the prices were usually more than what we paid here. For what you pay, this place has great value. I would recommend. The property is close enough to the historic Saint Augustine to enjoy, but far enough to have a less crowded beach experience. read more

I really didn't know what to expect of this place but the reviews and price were right for a short spring break trip with my son and bff. I wasn't expecting to find only one bed but luckily my two roommates had no problem sleeping on the floor and couch. The fold out mattress on the couch was older than my 14 year old son and had springs practically popping out. I loved having a full kitchen to cook most of our meals. The patio had stellar views of the unforgettable beach. The pool was actually heated which was the most welcome part of the whole trip. It was in the low 60's and the ocean was frigid so the pool felt like a sauna. I would stay here again in a pinch but now that I discovered airbnb.com, I found better places to stay for half the price. read more

Solid midscale lodging. Kid friendly. Great location - close enough to St. Augustine to see the sights... far enough away to be reasonably priced. Hotel seems to have two different sized rooms, and I believe the rate reflects them. Pool was good sized, clean, kids loved it! Friendly, helpful staff. Three stars because it is dated, but not at all nasty - it was clean and everything worked except the WI-FI, which was noted when we made the reservation. (It was nice to have reason not to use the stupid laptop while on vacation, altho I would encourage them to get it repaired). We had two rooms: - Larger for us (Mom, Dad, two kids: 5&7) - Smaller for Grandma The price reflected the difference in size. I think four of us would have been cramped in Grandma's place. She appreciated the lower cost. Both were nice. Bed was comfortable. Our kitchenette was decent size while Grandma's was smaller. Both had two TVs (LR and BR) and DVDs. Each unit is individually owned so your personal experience may be different from the next. We've stayed in the same unit twice and we're more or less satisfied. You get a small apartment with 2 tvs, oceanfront patio/balcony, and kitchen for the price of an even smaller hotel room that probably wouldn't have any of that. Our unit came stocked with cooking supplies, books, beach chairs and an umbrella. The complex itself is situated on a great beach for families along with a heated pool (which I found clean and uncrowded both times we stayed). Beachers Lodge is also located in a safe area close to activities, stores and restaurants. We had a few minor issues this time around; the family room remote didn't want to work, the pillows were flat and hard, and we could have used a couple more towels. The biggest issue was that we didn't have sheets for the pull out couch and we had a dirty blanket. However, our leasing manager was quick to respond and fix the issue. Most people staying here are young families. And for people on a budget, this is a good deal. It's hard to find beachfront condos at this price in any city in Florida. read more

Nice place. Friendly staff & room clean. There is a choice of bronze, silver & gold rated rooms. We chose a silver rated room. The rooms are small but clean. It was nicely furnished although could have done with a little less furniture since the place is so small. All rooms have a great balcony view of the beach. This is out first time staying here & we were very pleased with everything. Some of the rooms are dog friendly which is a plus for us since we take our little pooch everywhere with us. The beach is clean & wasn't too crowded. A great little get away! read more

I stayed here for a week. The main reason for the 4-stars is the easy beach access to beautiful Crescent Beach. The view from the balcony is great and the pool is large and warm. The condo that i rented is ok, but the condo quality depends on how the owner decorates and maintains the place. It was great to have a stove, microwave, and fridge. We ate breakfast every morning rather than going for fast food. We also had cold drinks whenever we went adventuring. House keeping freshened up the room each afternoon before we returned. The beach is wonderful. Early morning walks yielded many interesting shells. The soft white sand made it pleasant to build sand castles and walk out deep into the surf. The waves were just high enough to make body boarding and surfing fun for beginners. Overall, Beachers is in a great location and that is what counts. read more

This was a decent place to stay on Crescent Beach. A great find in VRBO for a lovely one bedroom studio type condo. Heated pool could be a lot hotter but its close to a decent restaurant and a bar across the street in the strip mall for those lazy days when your too tired for the Saint Augustine trek. Excellent beach access and a great view make this slightly dated condo complex a good find. If you haven't been to Saint Augustine it is worth the trip. The condos are small think romantic get away not vacation for the family on 10. Oh the wifi sucked but I was looking to unplug for a week so not a real worry. read more

Our recent stayed Oct 4-8, 2011) was during the time of a current major roof repair. At the time of reservation the ongoing repair was fully disclosed and daily rate was reduced by $5.00 per day.what was not disclosed was the Constant small debris from the roof removal raining on the cars during our entire stay.Also not disclosed was parking lot area near the room was blocked by about 75 percent of the parkable area. WFI was unavailable or experienced very weak signal the majority of our four night stay. For two days we had no cable tv acess. We received multiple conflicting reasons for these unresolved issues. Unit had two wall air conditioners which sounded like meat grinders during the night. In sum, it was an overpriced negative experience and will not return.very dated property, units not much bigger than walk-in closets. Positive: great ocean views. read more

Most disappointed I've ever been in a hotel - very dated in desperate need of updating/renovation. This is not in the downtown St. Augustine area but rather on Anastasia Island beach area about 10 miles from the downtown area. For the price we paid, I was expecting a much nicer hotel - but this is definitely lower end motel quality. Each unit is owned by a 'condo owner' and rented out as a hotel room so every room is decorated differently, but from the rooms I saw, all were comparably old/dated. Good things I can say is that it is directly on the beach, the air conditioning and bathroom were in working order, it is close to restaurants and shop and staff were friendly. It is clean, but hard to tell b/c it's old and worn. For a family of 4 (2 adults, 2 teenagers), the 'queen suite' is very small with 1 small bathroom and 1 bedroom with a queen bed and a murphy bed in the main room next to the kitchenette area. Bathroom is extremely old with brown stains in the sink. Mattress in the main bedroom was old. White towels were thin and worn, with a gray tinge. The two in-wall AC units were EXTREMELY LOUD and run constantly (but the room does stay cool). Window in the bedroom looks out to the outside hall where people walk by so you have to keep the shutters closed. Balcony is small and sitting out there in the mornings to watch the sunrise, you can't even hear the waves b/c the AC unit is so loud. WiFi was iffy - logged us out several times but we signed onto another network. We stayed 4 nights b/c no refunds and our friends were staying in a monthly condo rental a mile away, but next time I will stay in the charming downtown area at a chain hotel for the same price. (Sorry - I didn't comment on the pool as we didn't use it with our friends having a pool at their place close by.) read more

there are things that we did like about this place, until our next door neighbor showed up and continuously smoked his disgusting cigars, filling our condo with the offensive smell to the point where we couldnt open our door to hear the ocean or sit on the balcony. when we called to complain we were told that despite the fact that the unit is managed by the lodge, not privately owned, there was nothing they could do. i mean, im sorry, but it is 2016, what place allows people to chief down cigars right into another guests window?? besides being disgusting i also consider this a violation to my health and it is unacceptable. get with the times, beachers!! read more

My wife and I stayed here for four nights. In room 323. Our stay was great. The room had everything we needed. Having the kitchenette was nice. Breakfast and lunches in the room and nice dinners a short drive or even a short walk away. The beach front view was great. And the fact that we were able to bring our little dog was nice as well. Even though our room was a pet friendly room there was absolutely no pet smells in the room at all. We will definitely be coming back to this hotel again. read more

We try to visit the St. Augustine area once a year, and we always stay at Beacher's Lodge. We have stayed in several different units. Some we liked; some we didn't. Each unit is individually owned, and if you book online, each is given a rating of Gold, Silver, or Bronze, so you have a heads up as to the interior condition. So if you are trying to save money and book a Bronze room, be prepared for the interior to be a little dated. I suggest sticking with Silver or Gold. When it was just my husband and me, we found a queen sized suite to be a good size for just the two of us. Once our son was born, we decided we needed a little extra space, and the king sized suite has been perfect. The staff has always been extremely nice and helpful, and you can't beat the location of being right on the beach. Being a few miles out of St. Augustine Beach, you don't have to deal with as much traffic, and it is only a few minutes drive into town. We have enjoyed all our stays at Beacher's Lodge and definitely recommend it. We are headed there next week and couldn't be more excited! read more
