Solid choice for a fancy night out. It's a bit expensive, but that's expected in seaport. Can't really go wrong with anything on the menu. The scallops were cooked perfectly, and the risotto was good but had too much of a mustard flavor for my liking. If you are getting soup, I recommend the French onion. It is amazing. read more

Good food, somewhat smaller portions, pricy. The back dining room by the kitchen is much quieter than the front dining room near the bar. Try the chophouse corn as a side dish, and butter cake for desert. read more

Always a nice place to have a birthday celebration. Ocean Prime is one of go to spots when I'm in Miami. Recently was in Miami back in Oct and didn't get to my spot. So I decided to check the Boston location in the Seaport District. The Seaport district is a fairly new upcoming area. New restaurants and venues are coming soon. Already have several restaurants and museum you can visit. Seaport has been around since the early 1950's. Social distancing is enforced at Ocean Prime. Valet parking is $22. Please note to keep your party less than 6 persons. Just know if you have anymore people you will be seated at separate tables. So my party was seated at two different tables adjacent from one another. Still at a decent distance to still communicate. Little disappointed that we could not sit together, which I totally understand COVID-19 guidelines. Our waitress was attentive and and service was good. Food came out relatively fast. Both tables had a few appetizers which all were good(see pics). I will say the calamari should have been a little crispy(crunchier). My 8oz filet mignon was perfectly cooked (medium) , along with my garlic shrimp scampi. For a cocktail I had a Jameson (whiskey) splash of ginger beer. Overall, was a great outing and looking forward to visiting Ocean Prime (Boston) when I'm back in Boston. Thanks Ocean Prime read more

I heard a lot of buzz about this place so I decided to try it out. When you walk in, there's a bar section with was pretty busy. There were a lot of men in suits and women in formal dresses. This place is pretty much formal attire guys. I actually didn't know but luckily I wear a suit everywhere LOL. Definitely good to do your research before you go. For layout and decor, this place reminds me a lot of Strega waterfront with the bar and dining area set-up. The wait staff was attentive and they answered all our food and wine pairing questions. Upscale dining is all I can say. For the food, it's pretty good and it should be for the price point. My girlfriend ordered scallop dish with Parmesan risotto, peas, and a citrus vinaigrette. The scallops were cooked perfectly and every bite (4) tasted juicy and buttery. It was almost like they melted before they even reached our lips. The risotto was perfectly cooked and flavored. My lobster tails came out second and I almost regretted not getting the scallops until... I tried the dish. Sweet Jesus, those tails were amazing. Perfectly cooked, fat, and juicy lobster tails drizzled in butter (came in a little sauce dish). The menu said drawn butter and I have no idea what that means but Ill have my butter "drawn" every damn day from this moment forward. The lobsters were a little bit simpler in terms of side pairings but it allowed the lobster to really shine through in both taste and presentation. Look at the photos! Those suckers took up the whole shot lol. Good place if you're going to meet someone for business or a date and you want to impress. We had a great experience. read more

Between my sister and I we have been quite fortunate to have experienced many of the high end steak Resteraunt's in Boston. Last night for my sisters birthday I treated four or is to OCEAN PRIME. The lobster bisque was fantastic. The crab cake was average. We had two filet mignon one 6 oz the other 10. My partner in crime got the Kansas City Strip- OMG so flavorful! The 4th member got Teriiyaki Salmon- very good. Let it be known that all steak eaters believed the best steak out of all high end steak houses. I must not forget we had the most wonderful waitress originally from Galway. Such a professional and a great quick sense of humor. The price for such a perfect meal is NOT for the faint of heart. read more

My husband and I had liked Ocean Prime, but in recent years had spent more time in restaurants easily accessed by boat. Since we hadn't been for a long time, and for the entire Covid year, we decided to dock our boat and walk over. Our server's name was Keri. She was friendly, happy to discuss the menu, and attentive. The food was outstanding. I haven't had a bone-in ribeye steak as delicious and tender as this was since I honestly don't know when. The sides, ALAPEÑO AU GRATIN (unbelievably good), roasted mushrooms and chop house corn were excellent. The wine delicious, and the WARM BUTTER CAKE with Fresh Berries, Vanilla Ice Cream, Raspberry Sauce was a gorgeous end to the meal. We were so happy we visited again, and I'm looking forward to going back very soon. read more

This was our first visit to Ocean Prime, family members had raves about the food and service and so we were eager to try. We made a reservation for 6 pm on a Sunday and were politely met with the host staff who promptly brought us to our table even though we were 20 mins early. We had planned to sit at the bar for a cocktail but being the summer and a Sunday the restaurant was not full. We were then greeted by Justin a well informed charismatic waiter who politely asked if we had visited before and if we were familiar with Ocean Prime. He then took us through the wine menu as well as the cocktails and suggested an appetizer before taking our drink order. I had the cucumber gimlet which was outstanding and my husband had a Manhattan which he was pleased with. Justin took him time with us and appreciated that we wanted to enjoy our experience as we had arrived so early. We ordered the calamari, Buratta, for starters and for main courses We ordered the Kansas City strip, and the cod. For sides we had the Brussel sprouts and the smoked Gouda tater tots which were amazing. Justin was phenomenal timed all of our courses to our liking which we were extremely grateful for. read more

Our first time in Boston and wanted a nice dining experience. Ocean Prime did not disappoint. Everything from the service to the food was amazing. Ocean Prime - Calamari in a light Thai style sauce. Delicious and enough to share. - Seafood Near Me - Boston, Massachusetts

I was really not impressed by the food at Ocean Prime. I went with coworkers on a Thursday, and we ordered a bunch of appetizers, sides, and steaks. Crab cake: meh Goat cheese ravioli: good Calamari: good brussels sprouts: great lobster mac and cheese: not impressive at all and then my steak, which is what I was most looking forward to, was very overcooked. I asked for medium rare, and it was barely pink. The service was excellent, but I wouldn't go back. read more

Stan was the best!!!! Made our Valentine's Day so special. 10/10 service. Highly recommend.

Honestly the best dinner I've had- I came here with my boyfriend for a date night and everything we ordered was 10/10. He ordered the Kansas strip, I got the sea bass with lobster risotto, and paremesean truffle fries. We shared creme brûlée for dessert. It was one of the best meals I've ever had. Also amazing service and the ambiance was cozy and romantic. Would definitely recommend and can't wait to return. read more

Out of all the high end national chain steakhouse/seafood/upscale restaurants in Boston. I think I like Ocean Prime the best. I would say others agree since it's ALWAYS packed! I tried making a reservation a week in advance for a Saturday but found none at a reasonable hour so we went to the bar to try our luck. It was again...packed at 8. Luckily a nice bartender found us two bar seats and we were able to enjoy dinner before I got hangry! We enjoyed some champagne and cocktails, along with... Crab cake - one of be best I've ever had. Huge chunks of crab meat and the corn relish is a great touch Tuna tartar - pretty standard version made better by the crispy wonton bites. Good classic flavors. 10 oz filet with blue cheese crust - properly cooked and tender, can never go wrong with blue cheese! Truffle Mac and cheese - now this is what I crave and what I came for!!!! Oh man! One of my two favorite Mac and cheeses in Boston (I know you're wondering so here goes - the other one is Marliave) We ended up not having any room for dessert but still took home their carrot cake cause it's just that good and we knew we'd want it an hour later. The only negative during this visit was that the kitchen was a bit slow, seemed like they were overwhelmed. Not a huge deal since we were having a good time and the bartenders were great, but could get annoying if they get really backed up. read more

Food is good, but expensive. Don't try to get a drink there on a Saturday night though, they'll turn you away at 10pm very briskly (and cite that they're 'closed') even though the restaurant and bar are packed. read more

Organized some private dining for 18 here for work. It was easy to organize with Rebecca in sales, and the food was good. Our server was disengaged, the piped-in music was worse than hold music, and service was slow. I had to cue to server to remove the mostly empty app plates from the table that had been there for over an hour. Staring at a plate with meat juice, in a cold room with bad music, just wasn't pleasant. I also had to ask for more soda, and many on my team repeatedly had to ask for more wine. I think the server was probably the weakest link of my contracted event. The team I planned it for loves this place, mainly because it's expensive and they feel like they're getting a lot, on the firm's dime. Brussel Sprouts were amazing. Other than that, purely mediocre. read more

**If allowed, this review would be 4.5 stars** While out for drinks in the Seaport with 2 friends, one decided they wanted "good steak" for dinner. So we jumped on yelp and found Ocean Prime. We didn't have a reservation but it was 630 so thought we would have a shot to get in. Turns out we were right and they could seat us right away. I think this was a bit of luck as within 15 minutes all tables were seated. Service was excellent. Food was delicious. Meal started with a warm loaf of bread, pretzel bread sticks, and soft butter. I feel you can tell a lot about a restaurant and their attention to detail by their bread selection. Ocean Prime did not disappoint in this regard and I had to restrain myself from eating the whole basket. We then ordered oysters and the white truffle deviled eggs with caviar. Both delicious. All three of us ordered the 6 oz filet, cooked to varying temps. We all agreed the steak was perfectly cooked to our liking and well seasoned with plenty of flavor. I prefer my steak without any sauce or accompaniments, and this steak proved why you really shouldn't need any with a good steak. So tasty. My friends ordered the truffle butter with theirs which they both enjoyed. I tried a bite with it and agreed it was very good. Still prefer my steak naked though :) Lastly, we ordered 3 sides with our meal. The roasted garlic mashed, the gruyere tator tots, and the roasted brussel sprouts. The mashed potatoes were excellent, good texture, great taste. The tator tots were way too salty and I couldn't really detect the gruyere flavor. The roasted brussel sprouts were just okay. Seasoned well but no crisp at all to them and borderline a bit wilted. Overall, the experience was great and the food was excellent. I would definitely return. read more

Went there for mother's day dinner on the night before with the wife and kids, Service was great but , when they made me a dish of pasta and vegetables he asked me if I would like a little spicy I said ok little bit , figuring it would have a little crushed pepper on it. Well was I surprised, they put so much Cayanne pepper on it it was choking me. The mix of vegetables and pasta was not very creative and not at all good. They tried to make it again with no hots but my mouth was still on fire for the rest of the evening it had ruined my dinner. They did take it off the bill Which was expected and only the right thing to do. Won't be going back there any time soon. I know it's going to be just as hot on the other end . read more

Ate at Ocean Prime and had a meal for the ages. The food was meticulously prepared. We had sushi, seafood Cobb Salad, scallops risotto, fillet and NY strip steaks. All perfectly prepared and perfect to the requested temperatures. Our server Anthony was one of the best my wife and I have ever experienced. He was very professional. He made several suggestions on the menu that were spot on as he described them to be. His attention to detail was fantastic. He was engaging conversationally and just made the whole experience stand out. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a next level dining experience. read more

Do yourself a favor and head to Ocean Prime just before the first dinner seating. Get seats at the bar and hold on tight. This is the place to be every night of the week. Sophisticated and vibrant crowd drinking professionally prepared martinis by a great staff. The food is some of the best in Boston and IMO this is the best pre-dinner drink stop in the seaport. Bourbon list goes on for days and then bubbles and berries never stop. read more

If you are looking for fine dining in downtown Boston, this is definitely the place, chain or no chain. This is going to give Grill 23, Capital Grille and Ruth Chris Steak House a run for their money, which the latter two are chains as well. First off, the location absolutely hits the mark and is in the center of the action. This sits in a central spot directly at the beginning of the seaport district. The valet parking is a bit tight seeing this is a busy street, however they are quick on their feet and even send you an automated text when the car is being delivered. The interior of this place is quite large and you would never know it from the street. The bar area is beautiful and the whole place is elegantly decorated and looks really cool and trendy. The bar serves up some creative cocktails, even a really cool berry concoction with dry ice that tasted excellent. We got their a bit early and our Saturday reservation was not until 8:30pm so we sat in the bar. The place was very crowded and the hostess station was a bit disorganized. We did not get seated until around 8:45pm since they were waiting on tables to clear but with 3 hostesses, thats how busy this place was on Saturday night. We were seated in a back room area which was nicely secluded and the main dining room is split up into multiple rooms. The staff here is so good, they attend to you right away and are there throughout every step of the meal which was nice. The menu is large with not only more cocktails, appetizers, sushi, seafood and of course steak done many different ways. We opted for appetizers of goat cheese ravioli, deviled eggs with caviar and steak tartar which all were incredible. The goat cheese ravioli melted in your mouth. For entrees, we ordered filets, scallops and a surf and turf with sides of smoked gouda tater tots (just delicious) and some sautéed brussel sprouts. Every bite was tender, cooked to perfection and tasted beautiful. I have eaten at Capital Grille many times as well as Abe and Louies and this steak blew them out of the water. For dessert we were about to order when an older gentleman from another table came over and told us we were being too loud which was probably one of the rudest things that could happen during a night out, of which we let him know before he left. Our waiter overheard the exchange and offered up free dessert of a 10 layer carrot cake (yes 10), chocolate covered peanut butter cake and a brownie batter ice cream which again all hit the spot, delicious. This meal was very good and I would highly recommend this place. Prices are what you would expect for fine dining and it was worth every penny. read more

I have been here a handful of times and they are consistent. You get 5 star service as it is an upscale restaurant. The bar is always crowded. You definitely want to make reservations. As for food, unlike other steak houses they have a larger selection of seafood, hence the name. You can't really go wrong with their fresh seafood selection on ice. I can't say that their steak is any more special than their competitors in terms of quality. They do have their white truffle caviar deviled eggs, which you can't find elsewhere. We also always get the steak tartare which is fragrant of shallots and capers. I recall that their hamachi sashimi during restaurant week was extremely salty. I really enjoy their chilean sea bass and lobster mac and cheese. I also love their decadent chocolate peanut butter cake and their warm butter cake. Their carrot cake was also delicious as well as their special coconut cake which I had during breast cancer awareness month. Hope this helps! read more

Went here for a work lunch today. Great food and service. The bread was served warm and was very fresh. I ordered the teriyaki salmon which came with rice, and I also ordered a side of Brussels sprouts, all of which was really flavorful. The side order of Brussels sprouts is massive, so I recommend splitting it with a friend (or the table). The MUST-GET item? The Berries & Bubbly cocktail. Vodka, berries, Prosecco.... and DRY ICE. The taste was great and the presentation was Insta-worthy. read more

I've been here twice. The second time was much better than the first so I'm glad I went back. The first time we went I order sushi for an app and swordfish for en entree. Both were excellent but we were celebrating a birthday and felt squished at the table we were at. The second time, I ordered a martini that smoked as it came out (so cool!), steak, and creme brûlée. The table was spacious, the food was great, and the service was superb. I'll definitely be back. read more

Have been to Ocean Prime before, just not this location. Same name, same great experience. The surf and turf app is excellent, potatoes could have used some more seasoning, but scallop and short ribs were awesome. Since it was lunch, I took advantage of their lunch 6oz filet with two sides for $35. The lobster bisque was creamy and a little spicy which I enjoyed. Great meal without breaking the bank (for lunch anyway). read more

Came here for dinner 7/31/2020 as part of our Anniversary celebration. This was our first time here and we were not disappointed. Everything from the service to the food was excellent!!! Started with the crab cake, which was wonderful, worked our way to the ribeye (probably one of the best we've had anywhere) and scallops, then finished off with the rich and decadent chocolate, peanut butter torte. Even something as simple as the broccoli was very tasty and well prepared. Worth every penny!!! We'll certainly be back. read more

This gets 4 stars because of my experience and that's not entirely attributable to the staff but it's not to say the staff wasn't great either. It was pouring rain when I met my friend for dinner. He noted that the restaurant had live music, which he didn't know about when he arranged for our dinner, and asked if it would be ok. I knew that live music was on the docket and thought it would be a good kind of dinner and a show thing. So we went inside to a lively Ocean Prime where the bar seats were almost all spoken for. The guys behind the bar last Friday night were great. I think they could tell we were going to be around for awhile and didn't rush us with ordering but they did check in a couple of times during our four hour stay. We split the tuna roll, lobster mashed potatoes, and black truffle mac and cheese. I wasn't that excited about ordering the tuna roll, but it ended up being one of my favorite things that evening. The mac and cheese wasn't that great, so I wouldn't order that again, and I really liked the mashed potatoes because of the lobster. Ha. To me, the items are pricey and since neither of us finished the sides, I would reconsider what we order next time. My friend noted that he only eats steak at nice places and then went on to list a couple of nice places, which I agreed with. Unfortunately, I thought the 6 oz filet mignon, medium at Ocean Prime that evening was ok but lacked flavor. The piece de resistance came during the dessert course. After a little discussion about whether we wanted to order any, I said I wanted to try the ten layer carrot cake, which others had raved about, only if he would share. My friend agreed but made it a point to order and say, "She'd like the carrot cake". The bartender laughed when I protested. Anyway, my friend and I both really liked the cake, and it being this magnificent ten layer behemoth, attracted inquiries and small talk with folks around us. My friend really liked the pineapple syrup, which I didn't care for. I liked the actual cake itself with cream cheese icing. The other positive, which I can't personally say I partook in, was the overall pours of the red wine my friend ordered. He noted that each glass was generous in size. As the night went on, it appeared there was more and more with each glass. The negative was the pour of the beer which he initially ordered. For someone who doesn't drink, even I knew the pour of the beer was lousy. In terms of having my glass of water filled up during the night, one bartender in particular took care of me there and asked if I wanted ice or not and each time he did it, he remembered what I wanted so that was nice - little touch, but greatly appreciated. The bathrooms were pretty clean but I was disappointed that it wasn't better maintained. Stalls were out of tp, and because it was pouring rain, a lot of areas were slick. As far as entertainment, live music plays from 7:30 - 11:30 pm, and I enjoyed 3.5 hours of the dynamic trio who covered today's hits as well as took requests from the audience. read more

I went here for a friend's graduation celebration dinner. It was my first time visiting Boston. OMG it was one of the best food experiences I ever had! I got the surf and turf as my entree--lobster with filet mignon topped with crab meat in a creamy sauce. It was SO delicious. For appetizer, we shared a tower with oysters, lobster claws, crab legs, and shrimp. I loved that we all got our own little butter melter. The service was excellent! The inside was very dim and gives off a romantic ambiance. I remember seeing a table decorated with rose petals! We also got a dessert sampler and ALL were heavenly! I would 10/10 recommend anyone visiting Boston to come here! Definitely worth the experience! Thank you Ocean Prime! read more

My boss took me here after a recommendation from a colleague and had a great night. We had the oysters and shrimp cocktail to start and honestly I found the best oysters I had eaten so far in the US. Very fresh, large, and perfect aftertaste. My 2 colleagues had the steak which they rated better than Mooo that we went to the night before. One had the dry aged from Kansas and he said his was top notch. I had the sea bass which was kinda average. I'm not sure what I was expecting but it was nice without blowing anyone away. Great wine pairing from sommelier- and a couple of strong but great old fashioned's to start. Service was quick considering it was rammed. Would recommend highly. read more

This was totally inexcusable for the management of a high priced restaurant operation like this. The reservation for 9 was made two weeks earlier and confirmed that afternoon, and we arrived 15 minutes early. But we were made to stand and wait for an hour and 40 minutes!! Very poor control of the many tables they had. But the worst thing was that the management and hosts kept lying to us - telling us that the table would be available in 5 minutes, then 15 minutes, then soon, then 20 minutes. That was very poorly done. Next, the prices are ridiculous, even for a supposedly classy restaurant Ike this one. Food was twice as high as necessary, and the drinks were four times too high. I have experience in the restaurant field, so I'm comfortable saying this. BUT - the food was great - well prepared and presented. Sides were unusual and very good. Steaks were very good. Seafood items well done. And the drinks were prepared very well. And the wait staff was experienced, efficient and very prepared. Stan led a great team and provided very good service.
