We're almost couldn't find this place, the overhead sign was out and it was tucked away next to the main entrance for Malone's. I recommend making a reservation, a woman who arrived just before us seemed miffed that she couldn't just grab a table. Our server (Zack, I think) was super nice. Attentive without being overbearing, informative, and friendly. He oriented us with the iPad, as someone who likes to know what's in everything, I found it super helpful. The Fall cocktail menu had a Harry Potter theme, something that was lost on us and our server. That said, I ordered the fall sangria which was very good and not cloyingly sweet. My husband got the BHG flight (which comes with a mystery pour) and then capped his meal off with whatever the Manhattan style Fall cocktail was. To start we enjoyed the parmesan dusted bread and the brussel sprouts (normally a side). My only suggestion with the sprouts is more Fresno pepper. For my main, I went with the seared halibut. It was good, but I don't know that the corn bisque needed the balsamic reduction. My husband got the steak and cake, which he enjoyed. I love when places get crabcakes right and don't overload them with filler. 4.5 stars overall. We had an enjoyable meal here and probably wouldn't have stumbled upon it on our own. read more

We had a reservation for 6. Got seated 35 minutes late. Manager apologized and comp'ed us 3 free appetizers! He was forgiven. Aside from the slow start, service, food and bar drinks were awesome. We stopped in for lunch after church. The brunch menu had great variety. We had a tough time deciding on what to order because it all sounded good. They provide a tablet so you can see a picture of each menu item which was very helpful. My wife ended up with the everything bagel and I got the crème brûlée French toast. Both were amazing! Once again a nice lunch paired with good service. However.... A constructive note for the manager I walked into the restaurant at 11:38. There was just one hostess ( 'shorter ' brunette. Don't remember the name). With the face and the attitude of someone who hates her life and job she told me there were no tables available. Only the bar. I told her the bar wasn't an option because I have a service dog. She didn't offer any alternatives. No 'let me see' no 'let me check' nothing I walked back to my truck and drove to the next exit thinking of alternatives. Tried Open Table and saw actually OBC had plenty of tables available so I just made a reservations and drove back. I know we all have bad days and when you are at her age you'd rather do something else on a Sunday morning. But she probably needs a reminder of what working in 'hospitality ' means. It was extremely expensive, but also one of the most amazing beef, sharp ribs I've ever had in my life!

We had the Burrata tomato salad with fresh watermelon for our appetizer. Steak and cake for one entree and the ribs for the other. We also ordered the Mexican street corn. The food was delicious. I visited OBC Kitchen yesterday right when opened at 3pm. The venue reminds me of a modernized old western bar. The space has very dim lighting, so if you're going to take food pics, bring a tiny lighting set up! Martha was my server. She was friendly and gave me plenty of suggestions with patience, as it was my first time there. I love the usage of the iPad that has photos of everything on the menu. I can't remember his name, but there was a black bartender. He was super friendly and made me feel like less of an outsider. We talked about craft cocktails that I'm used to being a California girl, and how I was trying to get used to bourbon being that I now live in Kentucky. I tried the "Undercover Brother" which was a blood orange Old Fashion. Following up on our conversation, I gave him free reign behind the bar. He made me an INCREDIBLE raspberry fizz with Mezcal, being that tequila is my drink of choice. I'll be back every week whenever he's there! My photos are usually a lot more clear, but I ordered the salmon "potato skins", Brussel sprouts and the crab dip. Everything was so good! The classic lemon drop martini is fantastic here ... as well as the slightly dirty martini with blue cheese stuffed olives! The service is some of the best in Lexington. They appreciate proper pacing of meals and do not rush out your order while you are still working on your appetizer. The manager checked in on us several times during our meal to make sure everything was up to standard. Stopped here for dinner on our visit to the bourbon trail for the weekend. They have an extensive list of bourbon, other rare liquors as well as unique cocktails. They also have an old fashion flight, it was hard to choose. The waiter was very knowledgeable plus they have an iPad at each table with all of the menu items with great detail and pictures. The food was delicious and the Crispy fingerling potatoes were my favorite.
