10:00 PM on a Tuesday night this place was packed. Went with a friend that was visiting from NorCal after dinner and ordered soju, beer, and fries to snack on. Prices were pretty reasonable. As for the beer and food, the jugs for the beer came out super cold which caused the beer have a frosty texture, super refreshing! And the fries came out super nice and hot. Although we mainly ordered from the iPad on the table, the servers were very attentive and accommodating. One thing to note is that this place invites a more older more working class crowd and it's not like the other pochas around like missolkwan and soju belly where K-pop is played on the speakers with a noisy atmosphere. Came here to try it out and overall okay, a bit pricey ending the meal at $70 for two people, I don't feel it was really worth the money but I can see it being more affordable and worth it for larger groups. Love this little gem here in Tustin, the only one after Baden Baden closed down about a decade ago. Ahhhh the memories there! Sooo since the costs of just about everything has gone up significantly, this is the closest & convenient Korean pub/bar I can get to since aside from journeying out to GG or LA. I seriously miss the good 'ol K-town LA bars/cafes. For those who remember I'm going way back to the 2000s. The ooooold school ones like Intercrew, 4A, DGM, Bohemian, Stone Age, Blink, NY NY, Greenbelt, Gaam, Nandarang & may more that I don't recall due to toooooo many blurred nights & old age now... My friends & I have thoroughly enjoyed my past visits here. Service has been great. Very friendly & courteous. Staff can speak either English or Korean. Ample amount of TV's inhabits within this joint. Great for small or big group. I have called to make reservation before for group bigger than 6 & they have been very accommodating. No time limit as how long u & buddies want to hang out there. Restoom is clean. OB serves pretty darn good Korean comfort bar/drinking food. The menu is pretty extensive! But the prices aren't that cheap here either. My favorite go to eats here are: fried chicken/wings, garlic fries, haemul pajeon, dubu kimchi, kimchi bokkeumbap & BBQ whole squid. Good place for a late night meal. The food was really good but they brought it out one by one instead of all together so we would finish a plate then be sitting around waiting for the next one. I have to give this unique Korean restaurant a renewed review with solid four stars. We four went there with low expectations since the last review, but they have improved greatly since the Covid pandemic times. First of all the two ladies serving us was fast and efficient. The new electronic Tablet ordering system on our table worked beautifully, much better than having the ladies writing down on their pads! The food quality was outstanding. The Tong Dak-Korean Style Rotisserie Pan Fried Dry Whole Chicken was absolutely outstanding. The side dishes of coleslaw and pickled radish were also excellent. The kimchi was well made but you have to ask. The kimchi fried rice was very good. The spicy chicken wings were good. The best part of the meal was the "Seafood Pancake with Scallions!" called Pa Jeon (파전). The seafood pancake was the best thing ever! It was pan fried to perfection with mild crust and deep delicious delight. We loved it so much with mild soy sauce that came with it. For the restaurant catering to beer and soju drinking guys, the food came out mild and not too salty or spicy. I now love this place. Only reason for four stars (since I am very generous with my five stars for authentic restaurants) is that they need to be little more careful with decors, keeping the boxes of drinks stacked in the hallway to the bathrooms that just don't meet my higher hygiene standards. read more

I picked up some tong dak (whole fried chicken) for dinner tonight, and it was not tasty at all. Usually, my kids will devour the chicken, but they left half the chicken untouched. The chicken had a strange flavor like it was fried in really old oil or something, and the radishes had no flavor at all. The radishes were lacking that sweet/salty/sour umami flavor and literally tasted like it was sitting in plain water. My family and I been a regular at OB Square for over 6 years, even ordering takeout from here often during the pandemic, and it feels like the quality and flavors of their food have really gone down in the past few years. It's really unfortunate given that this is the only Korean pub in the Irvine/Tustin area. We might have to stick to The Source or even Garden Grove for Korean pub food. read more

Came here on Friday night and the place was very busy and lively. We got seated right away and the decor of the restaurant was very cute. We ordered the black bean noodle, army stew, fried chicken, and rice pot. The portions were huge and was able to feed a group of 4 guys. OB Square is a sooljip, a Korean gastropub. Definitely come here if you love those drunk munchies. Our group ordered a variety of munchies and shared. We had the Army Stew, Fried Chicken, Seafood Pancake, Gizzards, CORN CHEESE... and some other random dishes I can't recall. The ones I recall were all LEGIT. Surprisingly this is the first time I had the infamous Korean army stew and it was tastyyyyyy. You definitely need a large group to order this much variety. Basically everyone threw in suggestions for things they enjoy. Everyone knows I swear by the CORN CHEESE! Mhmmmm :) That cheese pull is so sexy and tasty. Oh yeah and if it wasn't already implied, we also got a fewwwwww bottles of beers and sojus. Thank goodness I had no face to face work meetings the next day because I could feel myself sweating out the Soju. Nevertheless, the joys definitely outweighed the consequences. Service was great. A nice little gem in Tustin and a solid 5 star experience! All five items we ordered are good and easily exceeded my expectation. Kim Chi fried rice - super good. I like the idea they put an egg on top and you can mix it with the fried rice while it's hot! Garlic chicken wings - crispy and nicely flavored. Seafood pancake - nice chewy texture and contains veggies, shrimp, and octopus Cream corn with cheese - very sweet corn with a solid layer of cheese on top, goes very well with kimchi fried rice Black bean noodle - good The waitresses were friendly and attentive. Took the time to check in and refilled water periodically. Both outdoor and indoor seating are available. The restaurant was filled with ahjussis drinking and drunk college students but had a weird odor as soon as you stepped foot into the store. We got spicy pork kimchi stirfried with tofu and it was the perfect drinking snack! Not too greasy or heavy but I wish it had more meat for $25. OB Square is a Korean/Chinese bar. The vibe is very chill... definitely a place to hangout, grab a beer and relax! What I love most about this place is the food!! Some of their most popular dishes are Kim Chi fried rice, Korean Chicken Wings, Korean Army Stew, Corn Cheese, and other classic Korean dishes. They also have Sweet & Sour Pork, and Garlic shrimp and wide selection of beers, sakes, and sojus as well as fresh smoothies. One of my fav dishes is "JaJang Myun" which is basically a Korean/Chinese inspired Black Bean noodles. Of course, we ordered the JaJang Myun, Kim Chi fried rice and spicy dukk (rice cake). Everything was sooo good! It reminds me of "home-cooked" Korean dishes. The portions are pretty large. We didn't finish our dishes. The service is def above par for most Korean/Asian restaurants. We've gotten takeout from OB Square several times now, during the pandemic, and I've got to say this is a rather under-promoted style of Korean cuisine. (Korean bar food) You really can't go wrong with their food. For the wings, we've only ever had eyes for the OB wings which is deep fried wings tossed in green onions and peppers. Yum! Other favorites: Stir fried pork belly (not to be mistaken for the pork belly with kimchi which I haven't tried), soondae (blood sausage) platter, pigs feet salad, omelet roll, corn cheese...yumm.... Bonus points for having an online ordering system so that you minimize your wait when doing takeout. I noticed they also had a private karaoke room, however it's right next to some of the seating which isn't the greatest since you can hear people screaming and singing mid meal. For food we order the seafood pancake, korean spicy wings, kimchew stew and a few other dishes. The food was ok, nothing spectacular. Very happy that I tried OB Square. Their kimchi fried rice is 10/10. We also ordered fried chicken with cheese and that was SO GOOD. The spicy sauce was simply delicious and we loved the addition of tteokbokki to it. Friends ordered the shrimp egg rolls and scarfed them down. The service is prompt and everyone is so attentive. Good place to come for Korean comfort food. We came late Friday night, and there were lots of people many beers and soju in. The music was a bit too loud and we had to shout to hear each other, that was the only down side. :( We wanted fried chicken and army stew, and wanted to get their combos. The combo saves you money if you wanted to order alcohol. Beware though, the "whole fried chicken" literally means a small chicken split in half, fried. I would recommend getting the fried chicken wings instead. We absolutely loved the OB house original flavored chicken wings! Great Korean/Asian restaurant & gastropub. We tried their chicken wings and popcorn chicken (wasn't able to take a photo of the wings). Service was great and the server we had was friendly and warm. Food came out hot, fresh, and delicious. Would come back again next time and recommend this place. Just a side note that it's a gastropub so some groups around us were very loud, probably drinking too. (At one point it was hard to talk and hear each other cos one other group was SO loud.) The Mrs. was craving Korean chicken wings and she found OB square on yelp so we decided to give it a go. Ordered calamari, garlic chicken wings, spicy wings, bulgogi fries and ob wings. Given the current pandemic we picked it up and ate at home. I had the opportunity to meet Grace who owns the establishment with her husband. We live about 15mins from the restaurant and couldn't wait to dig in. Everything was tasty - a few standouts were the 3 varieties of wings and the bulgogi cheese fries. If able to eat the bulgogi fries on site these would be even better! Fries+cheese + meat always taste better at the table fresh out of the frier- no knock on them just the downside of a 15min drive. Finally, I love the fact that they have a good assortment of beers - Hite, Corona, 805 and Coors lite just to name a few. Will definitely be putting OB square on the rotation. read more
