    Baku Pilaf

Ordered takeout through UberEats, food was prepared & delivered very fast, well packaged and delicious. Veggies in the salad and feta cheese appetizer were so crispy and fresh like it was just picked from some farm and tasted amazing not rubbery like most vegetables tend to taste these days. Pilaf (plov) Baku style was perfectly cooked, full of unique flavor, not greasy, portion had more rice to meat ratio but still it was big enough to share. Lamb was a bit too tough for my personal preference but I really liked the overall taste and combination of aromatic spices, lamb, dried fruits and chestnuts with scrumptious rice so was willing to overlook the slight chewiness of the meat. In conclusion, we really enjoyed everything and looking forward to trying more dishes from the Oasis Cafe and definitely recommend this place to everyone

Amazing food, outstanding service, and friendly atmosphere. Salads were fresh with crispy cucumbers and perfectly ripe tomatoes, expertly seasoned. Kebabs were tender and tasty. Samsa, manty, pilaf... Everything was just great! All food had that authentic taste that makes you think of your childhood (or mine) :) This place is a gem and I highly recommend it!

More like 3.5 starts. It's hard to give Oasis more than that when Nargis is right across the street and 100x better. Don't get me wrong, Oasis is good too...but not like Nargis. Anyway, the food is fresh and good for the most part, I just think they OD on the mayo in a lot of the dishes so skip the mayo-based salads and order the non-fat drenched ones because those are delicious. The meats are great too, skip the fish. For some reason they serve Uzbek manty with sour cream instead of the red sauce, not sure why but it's not supposed to come that way! Sigh. If you come here stick to what you know will be good: lulya, beef, chicken, lamb...and testicles, because those are good too if you're daring enough.

The lamb, chicken, and beef shish kabobs - all amazing!

Wow! This place is really, really good. We had a banquet-style feast tonight and everything was super delicious, most especially those richly dense kabobs and buttery lamb kutab. It's cute and unassuming on the inside, not the most decorated of places but good for a conversation as it's not very noisy. As is typical of an Eastern European feast, you can get full just from the appetizers, but the quality and flavors at Oasis make it easy to forget about that and keep going!! Discovered another gem on Coney Island Avenue, and I recommend it!

    Plov

The food came out so greasy, I am not putting this in my body!!! The plov was the way too spicy and salty.

I would say - the worst restaurant in Brooklyn. I'm surprised how that restaurant has such a big rating, when it should be 1/5. Prices were normal to compare other Brooklyn restaurants. Food looked nice but tasted digusting, especially side salad. Also the waitor was extremely rude, who started screaming, because he did not like his tip. When it does not say anywhere about minimum gratitude neither on the receipt nor in the menu. The worst experience in my life.

We're so happy we found this fantastic Russian place! From the outside it's kinda easy to miss, sort of off the beaten trail away from most of the other Russian places in Brighton Beach and kinda almost looks dark and closed from outside like a secret speakeasy, but it was definitely open maybe just had window curtains. And like a lot of Russian places, it sort of turns into a club after a certain hour - music videos playing on the TV's and they dim the lights. Anyway, the food was incredible, everything we tried was great. We had fantastic lamb ribs. They have this specialty category on the menu that has most of the greatest things I guess takes longer to cook that you are supposed to preorder. We tried this great casserole from there with all these innards like kidney, liver, heart... They had these amazing kutab pastry things with filled with lamb or spinach. Even the tomato & onion salad was awesome with a great sauce and jalapenos for a kick. And this place has very reasonable prices too. This is one of our new favorites now and we'll definitely be back!

This was a pleasant experience with Russian- Central Asian food. I was craving Russian food; Juliane in particular and decided to give Oasis a try! I was the only non Russian speaking customer as far as I can tell; yet I was very very impressed by the staff and their hospitality, our host was extremely polite and nice; I tried a potato lulya kebob which was amazing, got Juliane, avocado salad and other appetizer items, all where phenomenal. I made a mistake ordering chicken stake which was just okay in comparison to the fresh and tasty appetizers; the stake was more of a frozen cutlet; did not measure up to the rest of the food. This is a BYOB place with terrific food and excellent service. The prices are great and the decoration is awesome. Highly recommended place, and a perfect place to get an introduction to Russian and central Asian food.

I recently ordered from Russian Samovar through Uber Eats Pozharsky cutlet with mashed potatoes,…read moretwo borschts, black bread, and Olivier salad. The main issue I experienced was with the delivery process rather than the food itself. I was carefully tracking my order through the Uber Eats app and stepped away briefly, assuming no driver had yet picked up the order. When I returned, the delivery window was already ending. After calling the restaurant, I learned somewhat confusingly that they do not directly work with Uber Eats drivers and instead use a separate delivery service. Unfortunately, this was not clearly communicated through the Uber Eats platform. I later discovered missed calls and notifications from a third-party delivery service while I was away, which I hadn't seen because all my attention was on the Uber Eats tracking system. As a result, I received the order noticeably later and expected the food to arrive cold. To my surprise the borscht was still hot and absolutely excellent. Rich flavor, very comforting, and clearly made with care. While meat is not included by default (it can be added for an extra $5), the soup itself was outstanding. The black bread was nicely toasted, the mashed potatoes tasted homemade exactly what you hope for with a classic cutlet dish. The Pozharsky cutlet had a great crispy exterior while remaining juicy and well-seasoned inside. The Olivier salad was also excellent. A couple of details were missing: the mushroom gravy mentioned in the description was not included, and utensils requested in the order were forgotten. Kitchen / Food: Delivery experience: (minus one star for missing utensils) Ordering system clarity: Customer communication: Overall, I'm giving this place 4 stars because the food quality truly stands out. The kitchen clearly knows what it's doing, and the flavors were authentic and satisfying. There is room for improvement in communication and delivery coordination, but I would absolutely order again. Thank you to the chefs for such delicious food.

For a solo diner, they seated me right next to the piano, where the pianist and guitarist were playing lively music. Food was brought out quickly. The Borscht was hot and tasty! Perfect for a snowy night in New York. I loved this. Between the Pelmeni or Vareniki, I chose pelmeni because it has meat. I was pleasantly surprised by the quantity of the dumplings. Russian Black Bread was simple, nothing remarkable. For dessert, I chose the Medovik, the Ukrainian layered honey cake. This was soft and sweet, and a far better medovik than my first time trying it at another Russian restaurant nearby. Maybe I because came during a dinner rush (I came in around 6pm), but it was hard to get service's attention when I needed water or when I was done eating. When I did catch one of the waiters' attention, he acted like he was kind of annoyed. And while my waitress was nice, there were several times I tried to get her attention, and she kept walking past me. It was really awkward, especially when I wanted to pay and was ready to hurry out of there.

Gold gilding accents the molding and ceiling. This is the kind of place that isn't touristy, it's like if you know, you know- if you don't, you probably never will. I look forward to my next visit! The waiter claimed that the reason our orders were coming out slow, even the caviar for one of our drinks, was that the only service station that wasn't overrun was the dessert station. The food is overpriced and the main draw is for the ambience and decor which is elaborate and decadent. The second floor has a tree with lit colored glass eggs and a spinning bear aquarium reminiscent of a Russian dancing bear. I only ordered the honey cake because we had already eaten and were visiting friends. It was moist and delicious, but certainly not enough to make me return. Others in my group spent $33 for a handful of Pelmeni dumpling in a sauce. Although they were deemed delicious, seems overly expensive for beef, for sour cream, mushrooms, and peas. The espresso martini was also deemed one of the best they've had. The French onion soup was vinegary and not good - I can after to the vinegary nature because I could smell it several seats away.

Now, it's banks, cellular, provider, stores urgent care, a 7-11, even a Popeyes freaking fried chicken. Oh, and the Starbucks is still there. After walking out of a very bad experience at imereti Georgian cafe down the street (see separate review) I found this place. Boy, am I glad I did. I was seated in the front. The restaurant was gorgeous. ! I could hear a beautiful voice singing, Eastern European songs in the back of the restaurant and at one point,, he switched to Elvis's "I can't help falling in love with you" in English. That made me a little emotional, because that was my late partner's and my song... Anyway, I decided to go for the crêpes with red caviar (salmon roe), and the Ukrainian borscht. Bread and butter is brought to my table. The white bread was OK, but the brown bread had a deep rich flavor. The crêpes come first, and they were amazing. The crêpes were very warm, soft and delicious. I loved the "red caviar". A little bit salty, more briny than fishy, and a wonderful explosion of flavor when the eggs "pop." in the mouth. I was very happy. Next came the borscht. It had cabbage, beets, potatoes, and either beef or pork. I'm not sure which one. The meat , beets and potatoes was very tender, and the soup was delicious and not too rich. A very satisfying flavor., the beets gave it a little bit of an earthy flavor. The sour cream that came with it, just added a creamy richness to it without overtaking the flavor of the borscht. 1000% a home run. Dinner wasn't cheap. Two dishes, two iced teas (I found out they charge for refills), and tax, and it came out to about $48 before tip, .I didn't care. I don't mind paying extra if the food is that good, and this food was absolutely beyond awesome. I would be glad to come back and try other items on the menu. Thank you!

My takes on each dish: 1) cheburechnaya salad - light but flavorful, good to pick on with your meal. I like the avocado on top. Small portion is good enough for 2. 2) thin cut fries - like shoestring, really unique. Half portion is good enough for 2. 3) mushroom cheburechki - crispy but juicy, delicious with sauce. Definitely try this! 4) veal liver kebab: good when hot but I think one or two bite is enough because liver taste is strong.. if you like liver definitely get it, otherwise can skip. 5) lamb kebab: good, juicy. Definitely eat while hot, can be tough while cooler. A nice basic taste, nothing too weird. 6) sweetbread kebab: not my favorite it tastes a bit too fatty without justifying the fat. 7) lulya kebab: one of my favorites. It's a ground meat kebab and it's very juicy. Definitely get it! 8) beef skirt kebab: maybe my favorite one. It tastes like a juicy steak bite. 9) no fat lamb ribs: second favorite. The seasoning is good. A bit gamier than the basic lamb kebab. Overall we enjoyed the meal and will be back to try some other items! The only gripe is that the meat is a bit rare and I would not like to eat organ meat with some blood in it. My stomach was not used to it even the next day. Not sick but not feeling my normal self.
