Have grown really fond of this cuisine and this place definitely hit the spot. Menu has a fair amount of options and I definitely enjoyed each of the dishes we ended up getting. Started with the pilaff. Probably my least favorite meat of the day but it was plentiful, so tender, and the rest of the rice dish were delicious. Huge portion. I'm such a big fan of manti and almost always enjoy them, but these were even better than most. Plump, juice, packed with meat. Enjoyed the sauce it came with, as well. Finally, lamb rib kebab and lyulya kebab were great. I preferred the latter and may next time opt for the ribs without the fat, but they were both still great. Service was lovely, you can tell they care about the experience. Felt like we were in someone's home eating a home-cooked meal. Extremely disappointed with this place. I chose it to celebrate a birthday with my friends, and it turned out to be a huge mistake. While the service was polite, the food was unacceptable. The potatoes and fish were clearly reheated, salad was not freshly prepared -- the quality was obvious. I asked to speak with the chef, and to my surprise, there was no apology and no attempt to fix the situation. That level of indifference is simply unacceptable. We ordered the Korean carrot salad, borshch, veal liver kebab, quail kebab, and kompot. Uzbek-style bread was provided for free on the side. Serving us was a friendly middle-aged Ukrainian woman. The salad was dressed in a sweet and sour vinaigrette with a lot of garlic. The borshch was light but flavorful. These two dishes provided a good contrast against the heavier meat kebabs. The liver kebabs came with large cubes of veal liver spaced with thin strips of fat in between, which was a very good idea because it kept it from being too dry or gamey. Forget the overpriced boardwalk food - if you're in the Brighton Beach/Coney Island area, you gotta try the Uzbek food! Granted, Euroasia Cafe is only the first of the many such restaurants I've tried, but it made a great impression and I'd absolutely come back. Two friends and I came on a Friday evening and it seemed pretty busy; we requested to sit indoors to escape the heat and the staff graciously opened up a "reserved" table (perhaps a group didn't show?) to make room. The service was so friendly and attentive, and though the food took a while it must have been freshly cooked by how piping hot it was. We started out with a pitcher of kompot, a lightly sweet and refreshing fruit drink with notes of plum and pieces of whole fruit inside like a non-alcoholic sangria. We shared three food items that came out one-by-one, making it feel like a fun multi-course tasting. The first was the Pilaff, a rice dish with tender carrots and fall-apart tender lamb. Next was the Manti, four giant dumplings filled with seasoned beef and served with sour cream. Last, we got a lamb kebab that came with sliced onions and a spicy dip. The Pilaff was my favorite, but all were tasty and generously portioned. We had planned on a lighter meal to save room for some beach snacks, but left quite full at less than $20 per person. What a treat Euroasia Cafe was. I've never really had uzebekistan food but it's exactly how the name makes it out - eastern european and asian. The restaurant can be easy to miss since it's on the side street but it has a couple of outdoor dining tables to help you spot it. It can get a little busy but it's well worth it. Service was friendly and well attentive to the table. We ordered the kompot, salad, potato dumplings and lamb kebabs. The kompot was refreshing and not overly sweet since it's based on plum fruits. Dumplings were interesting - I like mine savory so these were a delight with the sour cream. Very interesting and I did come around to enjoying these a lot. Today I was in the mood for a Greek salad which is always really tasty. It's not your typical Greek salad. The atmosphere is low-key and authentic, complete with plastic tablecloths and that classic fluorescent lighting (they also have some outdoor tables). I decided that I would give Cafe Euroasia a second chance, and sadly there will be no third chance. As delicious as their borscht is, I cannot look past the unhygienic practices and lack of Covid-19 prevention. Outdoor seating is allowed in New York, so I understand that restaurants are trying their best they can to work with the space they are given, but it's too many people squished into a very tiny space. Smoking is allowed among guests, which I find repulsive. The last thing I want to taste is cigarettes when I'm trying to enjoy a meal. The staff did wear masks, but they did absolutely zero cleaning on tables between customers. That is disgusting. If cleanliness doesn't bother you, then yes the borscht is phenomenal. The fried potatoes with mushrooms are so crispy and delicious, and the chicken very tender. As good as the food is, I just can't return due to lack of concern for their customers health. We don't have much experience with Euroasia food, but we loved it! The indoor space for this place is a bit small, but was here on a Sunday evening with no wait because they have tons of seating outside. Food review: - Borshch: really enjoyed this. IMO taste almost like a glorified tomato soup. Soup comes with sour cream, love adding this to the soup. - Khachapuri: we got free bread, so we thought getting this might be redundant, but wow did not regret this order at all! Love the cheese inside and when you eat it hot, it's especially soft & savory. I think this is my new favorite dish. Please get it when you come here! - Kebabs: we got the Lyulya, lamb, & beef. We all agreed that the Lyulya was our favorite, lamb 2nd, the beef was okay, just cause it was really tough & the first bite was juicy, but the rest of them was pretty dry. - Shrimp w. Brighton beach escape from Manhattan. Came by Cafe Eurasia after passing Tatiana Grill on the promenade. Glad I did. The menu is heavy Uzbek leaning. We tried Salad Achuchuk loaded with tomatoes and onions. Bowl of shurpa with lamb and beef, a clear broth with potatoes and chickpeas. Also ordered lamb ribs and beef tenderloin and fried potatoes. My daughter and I came where when we were in Brighton Beach recently hoping to taste authentic Russian dishes. We were happy outside seating was available and took a table on the sidewalk. It was odd to see an ashtray on our table! I hadn't seen one of those at a restaurant in ages! Communication was a bit tricky with our server but we were able to order some items to share. The best recommended dish we had was the "Fried Potato and Mushroom." My daughter was excited to see "Khachapuri" on the menu because she has had this Georgian dish before and loved it, and while what we got here was pretty tasty, it was much smaller and unlike the Khachapouri she loves. Finally, the server suggested cheese blintzes for us. When it was delivered to us with the rest of our meal, I was surprised that it looked like a dessert, complete with chocolate sauce, whipped cream, and cherries! When I took a little scoop of the whipped cream to taste it, I found it wasn't whipped cream at all but sour cream. And the chocolate sauce was not very chocolatey. It was a strange dish for me. When we finished our meal, it took quite a while for our server to come to us again. I asked her for the bill and she went inside to get it. Many more minutes passed and so I went inside to pay instead. The server seemed surprised to see me and went to take my credit card but I told her I hadn't even seen the bill yet. Hands down best Russian restaurant in Brighton Beach! We've been here a few times and it's always solid. The food is so good and feels like I'm having a home made meal by grandma. The salads are so flavorful and creative, bursting in flavor. Among the kebabs, the lamb was the hit among our group. The lagma soup was amazing too. The servers are all efficient and friendly, especially Nadya who's so warm and lively. We loved this small cafe, and were fortunate that our waitress could speak sufficient English to help us with the traditional Russian fare offered. Brighton Beach Ave. which resides under the shadow of the elevated NY City subway tracks, is a throwback to a different era or perhaps a different country. This is a small local cafe, just off Brighton Beach Ave. It's extensive menu, in both Russian and English, offers some great Russian classics. We selected: * Fried Potato with Mushrooms $6.95 * Chicken Stroganoff $10.95 * Samsa (1psc) $2.95 * Ravioli (chicken dumpling) $5.95 The Stroganoff was our favorite dish, with tender chicken and a delicious sauce. To start, we ordered a Korean carrot salad ($4.95), which was quite a good size, as well as a lepeshka ($2.50). The circular bread was unfortunately stale and was the most disappointing item ordered. We also got the manti ($6.95), which came with four pieces, and was probably my favorite dish. The Uzbek plov ($6.95) was serviceably good, though lacking in the depth and richness of flavor that comes with cooking the rice and carrots with lamb and its concomitant fat in a giant wok, such as those found in the markets of Tashkent and Samarkand. Having been reciently introduced to the great food Brighton Beach has to offer, whenever I have the desire for traditional Shashlik (Russian Sisk Kebabs) Cafe Eroasia is the place. Getting a table may take a little patience, as the inside has about fourty five chairs and seemingly continuously busy inside, day and night. With over fifty total menu items to choose from, it is really a test of will to not over order, a test I have yet to pass, but it tastes so good to fail. Each item will run you from $3.95 to $7.00 and the amount is ample for one person at best. Chicken, veal, pork ribs, meatball, liver of every possible (edible) four legged creature. The veal tounge and radish was such a delight, fresh, creamy and light. The flavor profile was so unique and foreign to me, that particular item has become a staple in my orders. The pickled vegetables caught me a little off guard, as I bit into the tomato and I got a water baloon burst of some intense vinegar and spice, it was very delicious, once the initial shock wore off. Thinly sliced red cabbage, pepperchini's, pickles which was just the right contrast of taste and texture to pair with the kebabs. Our servers were a man and 2 ladies, and all 3 made sure to do their best, from explaining the menu, serving food timely and hot, and replenishing our beverages, to taking pictures of us on our date.
