Such a beautiful space with a fantastic view. I wish we would have been offered outdoor seating. I suppose we could have asked but there was no one on the patio. We were greeted and seated immediately and ordered soon after. The food arrived quickly and the plates were full. There were so many potatoes, I was able to take them home for breakfast the next day. The food for me was just okay. The potatoes were dry as if they'd been precooked and then rewarmed to order. I also found the hollandaise thin and runny and the Joe's special a little dry as well. We don't live close by but were out running errands and stopped in after having seen them on a morning show a few months ago. A return visit is probably not in the cards. read more

From the "Daily Specials (Monday - Friday,) which is only listed on the restaurant's web site, I went with "Steak and Eggs" for $9.99. I requested my steak to be cooked medium, my eggs fried over easy and sourdough was my toast of choice. The steak was the "star" of my breakfast, and I requested my steak to be cooked medium and it arrived, just as ordered, complete with attractive grill marks. A knife was included to cut the steak, but it was mostly "window dressing," as the steak was juicy, tender and easy to cut with my fork. I didn't ask what cut of steak this was, but it looked to be New York, and it was simply delicious. The steak was large, I'm guessing about 6 ounces, and made for an amazing centerpiece for this great weekday breakfast. As the perfect side for the steak, my breakfast included a good size helping of amazing homestyle fried potatoes. The red potatoes were cut into chunks and perfectly fried on the griddle. As a nice touch, grilled onion and bell pepper garnished the potatoes. I loved it! I realize there those who don't care for grilled pepper and onion on their fried potatoes, so check with your server. My two eggs were fried over easy, exactly as ordered, and were simply perfect. The mark of a breakfast chef with talent is how well they can deliver eggs fried over easy and the chef at Oak Leaf Cafe has talent. The two pieces of sourdough toast were nothing special, but they were buttered and toasted perfectly. A couple packages of jelly were included, but I simply left them, as when it comes to breakfast, I don't have a "sweet tooth." I used some of the toast to mop up the drippings from the meat, potatoes and eggs... yum! At $9.99, this breakfast was an absolute bargain! The portions were large, everything was prepared, as ordered, the breakfast was delicious, and it truly filled me up. You can't go wrong with "Steak and Eggs" at Oak Leaf Cafe! TL;DR: Solid brunch spot for classic American favorites. A bit on the higher-moderate price range, but still a good time. Came by with some friends on a Saturday morning after seeing it on Yelp, around 11:30. We were seated quickly indoors, though they have outdoor seating available as well. We got to sit right across from where the chefs cooked the food, and could see each order coming out steaming hot. The service was very friendly, and I was a fan of the modern-diner, sort of minimalist aesthetic of the place. Their menu boasts a wide variety of options, and we decided on ordering a Chicken and Waffles ($16), a Country Breakfast ($15), and a Chicken Parmesan ($18). We also asked for a side order of regular fries, despite not seeing that explicitly on the menu, and they were happy to comply ($5). The food came quite quickly, and though the Chicken and Waffles were a bit underseasoned and lacking, the Country Breakfast and Chicken Parm delivered both in portion size and flavor. Overall, while not the absolute best brunch place that I've ever had, Oak Leaf is at least worth checking out to see if its (slightly pricey) foods are worth the fare. read more

I was not impressed with this place. My husband and I went here on a whim and I had the French toast and he had the veggie egg scramble platter. My French toast was just mediocre and my husbands skillet was very watery. We sat right in front of where the cooks make everything and it was very warm. The prices of the food were ridiculous and not worth the $. I won't be going back here. The view of the water from the outside in the back of the restaurant was nice. read more

The restaurant was not full but we walked in and were not greeted by anyone. Eventually the waitress looked at us and said sit anywhere. It then took 20 mins for her to take our order and then another 30 mins for the appetizers we ordered to actually come. The other tables were also waiting for a while. The fried calamari was odd it was long strips and looked more like mozzarella sticks. Then it took forever to finally pay the bill. As we were leaving we saw the cooks just opening a package of foster farms pre packaged wings to make for the table that had ordered them. Overall would not come back. read more

Crab cake on the bottom instead of English muffin with salmon, shrimp, and avocado as topping along with fresh berries melon and pineapple The waitress took my order suggestions and the chef made it. This is the best tasting Benedict that I've ever had. It was cooked to perfection, perfect seasoning, lHigh Quality food with large shrimp, fresh ingredients. A friend and I just had breakfast this morning at the Oak Leaf. At first, we chose to sit at a booth inside but almost immediately decided to move to an outside table because it was such a beautiful morning. No problem. Our server, Aydin, found us in our new location and proceeded to provide EXCELLENT service throughout the meal. The setting was beautiful, under cover and adjacent to a promenade, with the lagoon and natural wildlife area beyond. As the finches cavorted about, Aydin met all our silly requests, "Could I get tomatoes and mushrooms in that omelet? two waters, one with no ice, yada, yada," and did so with patience, professionalism and humor. The food was great and with Aydin in charge the entire experience was nothing short of great. I highly recommend the joint. read more

This one is a no-brainer - one of the easiest 5-star reviews I've ever posted. Oak Leaf Cafe is an absolutely terrific restaurant that checks off every single box that needs to be checked in evaluating a restaurant. Comfortable ambiance, check. Very friendly and attentive staff, check. First-rate food preparation and fresh ingredients, check. Reasonable pricing, check. Situated between a gastropub and a high-end fancy joint in a strip mall, OLC for me is first and foremost a creperie, but with a ton of other offerings beyond that. The large menu includes 6 different versions of eggs benedict, 9 different omelets, 6 different takes on avocado toast, pancakes, french toast, 5 different burgers, 7 sandwiches, 9 different entrees that include chicken parm, NY steak, shrimp linguini, and salmon, 4 wraps, and for me, best of all, 9 different crepes including a build-your-own. It is difficult to find a restaurant with crepes on the menu, even in Chicago, and especially of the quality of OLC's crepes. My wife had crepes florentine, consisting of two large crepes filled with perfectly cooked scrambled eggs, 2 kinds of cheese, spinach, onions, and tomatoes. It came with a side of "homemade country potatoes", which were perfectly cooked, slightly crisped, and popping with flavors that displayed knowing hands in the kitchen. I customized my crepe to include ground beef, cheddar cheese, and sauteed onions - also with the country potatoes on the side. The portion of ground beef was quite large, and the texture and flavor of the dish were great. As full as we were, we couldn't resist splitting one of OLC's sweet cream cheese crepes covered with perfectly ripe and juicy fresh strawberries and blueberries for dessert. Crazy, I know, and we realized we were lucky not to have needed to call an ambulance due to obscene gluttony, but wow, it was so worth it. Really, really good. OLC is a gem, not just because of the excellent food, but because the back story is so appealing. We were served by both Velma and Lisa, who could not have been any nicer or more attentive to our needs. We learned that Velma and her husband, Raymond, are the new owners. Raymond is the skilled chef who prepared our exceptional food. I love a story like that - first-time restaurant owners (with plenty of experience backing them up), a husband-wife team so eager to succeed in a tough environment - you just have to root for their success. They are clearly earning it. We were seated at an outdoor table with a great view of the water and trees. It was a warm mid-morning with the sun shining - beautiful, for sure. We'd highly recommend an outdoor table, weather-permitting. The restaurant inside was immaculately clean and also inviting. I think you'll be surprised at just how pleasant a dining experience at OLC is. I'm certain the word will get out, and this restaurant will grow in popularity and receive the success it deserves. I've always loved this place, but was underwhelmed and disappointed this last time. The service was just okay. No refilling of drinks unless we asked, mimosa was not made right (and don't expect any garnish), but most importantly, I ordered the Chile Verde omelet and got a steak picada with chile colorado. I mentioned it to the server who said this is how they always make it. The menu very clearly states it is pork ... and verde means green. My sauce was clearly red (colorado). Puras fallas! read more

Found this place off of yelp and decided to give it a go! We were able to make a reservation online right before we went which was helpful because it was actually pretty busy when we got there! First impression, the decor and space was really nice! Everything is brand new and bright. We were sat within 5 minutes of waiting and brought waters. We ordered the blueberry pancakes and i believe it was called the southwest omelet? I cant remember for sure though. The only reason I took off one star was because I asked the blueberries to be in the pancakes and they came in a little cup on the side. Since it was busy I didnt want to be a pain and send them back. Other than that everything was good and service was great! Will be back. read more

One of the easier 5 star ratings I've given. When it comes to the immediate Granite Bay/Loomis/Rocklin/Roseville area, you only have one of two types of breakfast restaurant it seems. You either get a diner feel, or you get a high class, exquisite experience such as High Hand Cafe. For the longest time this area has struggled to have a relatively mid-priced, trendy, breakfast place with a sizable menu. Oak Leaf Cafe changes that. And the best part is, they have a great lunch menu as well. The service was quick, the food was absolutely delicious, and the price wasn't outrageously overwhelming. The decor and vibe is trendy and it's in an unassuming enough location that it isn't overly crowded in the mornings. They have a great patio as well for the spring and summer time. I would HIGHLY recommend checking this place out. From Benedicts to crepes, they have you covered. The ONLY thing they could do better is to get a full coffee bar and espresso machine to add to the coffee options. Beyond that, they're fantastic!! read more

Hands-down my new favorite breakfast spot in Granite Bay. Oak Leaf is in a beautiful location, and offers up some of the best breakfast you could get in the area. We've tried several of their dishes before leaving a review, and each one of them has been stellar, with my personal favorite being the Joe's Special. Ramone has been our waiter the majority of the time we've gone, and he's been wonderful each and every time. I haven't tried their lunch yet, so my review is based purely off of their breakfast. This place is amazing. Is clean inviting and doesn't give you the typical overpriced granite Bay feel like all of the surrounding restaurants do. You can come in your bathing suit right after hitting up the lake and not be judged. Anyone who left a negative review clearly was on their menstrual cycle or just hit menopause. We have eaten at this cafe several times. Today we arrived at 11:30 am. We were told by the man behind the counter that it would be a 25 minute wait for a table. There were open tables inside and out. We asked if we could sit at the counter and were told yes. Then a server showed up and told the man we could be seated at one of 2 open tables. He then told us it would a 25 minute wait to be served at the tables? Then he said the same wait at the bar? At that point we left, and he seemed eager to seat the party of 6 behind us. First time visiting. Lovely atmosphere. I ordered a steak fajita salad. I was served a chicken Caesar salad. When I questioned it, the server picked it up and served it to another table. She then brought my salad out - plenty of chicken, with a handful of steak thrown on. It was supposed to come with bell peppers and grilled onions. Nope. It was supposed to come with a side of sour cream and choice of dressing. Nada. I've been looking for a new breakfast spot and things have not been going well! Finally we tried this place. Loved it. It's cute and has good food. Nothing pretentious on the menu, but everything sounds good. I had a hard time choosing! The food was great, hot and fresh and they have excellent French fries . And our waitress was so nice I had to tip her more than 20% (tall blonde chick). This review sounds cheesy...I'm kind of embarrassed I wrote it.
