Great pizza ! I'm always looking for deep dish / Sicilian style . Past 5 years never disappointed . Staff is always over accommodating. Constructive criticism, I always would love to dine-in but find the "generic lighting" uncomfortable . The decor is fine , seating ... all fine , but blue fluorescence is a deterrent. I have mentioned to staff but understand it's a corporate thing . I suggest hiring an hours worth of lighting design consultant. Easily remedied ,drop the decorative fixtures to a human height , add a lenses of "warm light" to the bulbs . Might make more inviting dining experience. Love the pizza , the staff , the dining /bar room layout . Thanks for reading ... read more

The pizza was good. Very pricy for just pizza, but it was good. The kids, grandkids, and I loved the pizza. Good crust, good sauce to cheese portion, and they put extra pepperoni when asked to put extra (that's a plus). Served hat and fast. I love the decor as well. Nice and modern, not run down! read more

I picked up some pizzas and wings to go on a Friday morning to feed the gang at the office. As usual, the staff at this location is super friendly and the restaurant is clean. They are organized and had the food ready when promised. The gang loved the food and scarfed it down with lots of laughs and smiles. The Wall Street was the favorite pizza. Thanks NYPD. read more

Cannot remember how my places I have had pizza and submitted reviews. Most have been good to great. NY Pizza Dept unfortunately falls into the Just Ok bin. The venue is nice, comfortable and the staff is attentive although I did get a take away order, I was offered a drink while I waited. I ordered a medium with pepperoni and mushrooms, came to just over $25. In less that 15 minutes I was on my way home for some pizza. Initially, it looked a little undercooked, with the crust just lightly brown and the cheese and toppings looking a bit...well not right. As I broke off the first slice I could tell that is was definitely undercooked as it flopped off the box. The crust was mushy inside, the cheese and toppings were greasy. Some may like it that way, maybe I should have requested a few extra minutes of cook or well done, but if this is how it regularly is served then it is certainly not for me. I picked off some of the pepperoni and ate some of the crust that looked done and that is about all I could manage. With so many pizza places in this area to choose from, I certainly would not recommend or return to NY Pizza Dept. I was very disappointed as the reviews were good and pizza is not easy to screw up.....but this one was . read more

Ordered online for a pick up. There were three ladies at the counter and one gentleman being helped. Literally they just pretended I wasn't there until I said "excuse me, I'm here for a pick up!" My pizza was so dry and THIN and barely even warm, I don't recall it being like this. Luckily I did order the cheese garlic bread and they were really good with the marinara sauce. But I will never come back. Poor service and even worse, bad cold pizza. read more

I have absolutely no idea what happened to this place. We thought we found the best pies in town but like all good things, it's come to an end. New chef? Owner died? What the heck happened?? They went from awesome, tasty, cheese covered heaven to raw, limp, cheese starved, tasteless wallpaper. The first time it happened we chalked it up to a fluke. Second time around, just as bad. Absolutely horrible. Almost no cheese, crust as white as grammas bare butt, and they couldn't even get the toppings right. Our search continues. read more

Great central location! Parking is a bit limited but okay. The pizza was amazing and the traditional wings upstate flavor were cooked crispy just how I like them. It's been several years since my wife and I had been at NY Pizza Department (formally know as NYPD Pizza) There menu seemed to have less items on it. Our waiter Joseph was great . After we had our pizza he told us about the changes that been made since Covid took place. He's an ex New Yorker ( like myself), so that will get you extra points in my book. We had a half Sicilian Margherrita Pizza. It came out perfect. It tasted great too! I have too make a better effort in going to NY Pizza more offten. read more

We order from this place occasionally at work and they have such good pizza and such fast service!

After four years we came back. I'm glad I did, it seems like there is new management. We came in and got seated after a few minutes. The manager came over and greeted our table! They gave the kids dough to play with while we were waiting on our food which was super nice! The kids loved it, we actually just came back from the children's museum so that just added to their experience for the day. The waiter was very attentive. It was pretty empty inside. Very clean. The food took about 25-30 min. Food was hot , tasted good. The kids meals are a great portion size. The pizza bites on the kids menu is two slices of pizzas cut up, def not what we expected but still good and might order it for myself next time lol. Wings were average. My niece enjoyed her spaghetti & the garlic cheese rolls was perfect for everyone to share. read more

The pizza was delicious, service was fast, prices were fair. Definitely would go back!

I did a pick-up order here on a Saturday where it was 112 degrees outside and didn't want to move. I ordered a custom pizza with mozzarella, spinach, mushrooms & ricotta. I also ordered the garlic cheesy bread and the fried zucchini. I arrived right when my order said they were ready, and it was ready to go! I was appreciative of this because I didn't want to be out longer than I had to be with the heat. All of the items were good. The ricotta on the pizza was my favorite part. The cheesy bread could have been better, but I ate it when it was a little cold. I wouldn't mind eating from here again. read more

I love this location as its close to my house. I've been coming here forever since this location launched. I used to go to 20th Street behind the Best buy on Camelback. That is until I try to get a job there back in the 2000s. But that's not a knock on New York Pizza Department Pizza that's on the general manager that was there at the time but this location is awesome friendly vibe wonderful people and great aura and professionalism. Plus my FAVORITE former Pastor Lives in the Area So I ordered the my vinnies instead of doing a my za' the dude was smart enough to know that corporate usually likes to upcharge on certain things on their menu (also not a knock but it's a great sales tick )so I just chose to save a little money. The cook forgot to put kalamata instead of black olive and I had to wait another 7 minutes and I easily forgave them because this is my place and I will not be an asshat read more

This is what makes pizza the best food out there, in my opinion. We ended up having their garlic cheese knots, which came in a pack of six with a side of marinara, and they were amazing. Garlicky, fluffy, and cheesy. They were among of the best I've tasted. And we ended up having the Mott's Street Lover pizza and buffalo, both of which were delicious! The pizza's bottom had the perfect crisp and toast, and the cheese pull was fantastic. And the buffalo was truly outstanding. The server suggested removing the gorgonzola cheese, which I agree with! Please visit this restaurant; it's a perfect 100/10! read more

Pleasantly surprised! Great food! Great service too (Aubrey) Not just pizza. I'll be back!

I love NYPD near 20th and Camelback but I was at my friends house so we ordered from the mcdowell and 7th location. I was told pizza would be ready in 30 minutes and i arrived in 32 minutes, the pizza was room temperture and the dough was soggy, like it wasnt cooked all the way. Very disappointed. read more

This place honestly used to be one of my favorite pizza places. That was probably about five years ago. I think they've gone downhill. I paid $35 for the 16 inch (they say it's 18 inch on Yelp but I'm pretty sure it's 16 inch on Grubhub) bad boy... definitely not worth it. I think there are better options like Mellow Mushroom or Clockwork Pizza if you want some good New York style slices. The dough was, tough the toppings (of which, are 4$ a topping) definitely didn't seem worth it. I got a typical mushroom pepperoni pizza. Not sure, I'm gonna be ordering from them again in the near future. For the price point, I think the quality could be MUCH better. read more

Great food and service all the time. Love the true NY style pizza and the appetizer garlic knots.

I was doing a long walk to the state Capitol from midtown and found this great pizza place. I was very hungry having 2 pizza slices(pepperoni and sausage) and a fresh salad with bleu cheese dressing. The salad tasted really fresh with nice, crunchy lettuce and crisp tomatoes. The slices tasted outstanding with loads of meat and delicious, tangy sauce. The best part is just 2 slices are the size of a medium pizza at other places-HUGE!!!! Service by Manager Liz was great-friendly and fast. Highly recommended for NY style pizza, taste and value. read more

Surprisingly good pies. I say that from proximity bias; grew up on the east coast and the pies in Philly, Jersey, and NY are tops. Pizza Dept. gave a reminiscent taste of that area (really haven't found a place to match the tomato flavor from out that way). Pizza was hot, and ready when I got there. Bonus: parking in back when it first appears that you're gonna have to hunt for a space. Definitely gettin' back there at some point. read more

Why can't everything be perfect? I recently placed a large catering order from this location. The service was exceptional! I called before placing my order and asked how far in advance I would need to place it. I was basically told the more notice the better, but even just a couple of hours was OK. When I called back to place the order, I was transferred to a manager who was on his game. Courteous and professional, he answered all my questions and even made recommendations about how we should customize our order. "Service like this still exists?!" I thought whimsically. Wait, it gets even better. The delivery driver, Ivan, was even 15 minutes early. "Is it OK if I go ahead and drop this off?" A huge catering order that arrives early? By all means, Ivan! So, what's the problem? The pizza and wings were not good. I had never dined at NYPD Pizza before (the name alone is pretty enticing) but this was NOT New York pizza, at least not the kind I'm used to. We ordered a huge variety of pizzas from their Promenade catering package: Brooklyn Family, Pizza Blanca, Fran's Favorite, Joey's Favorite, Big Kahuna, a Cheese, and of course a Pepperoni. They were all like cardboard. No texture. No life. Not even very visually appealing. The best of the lot was the Pizza Blanca. The BBQ boneless wings were not much better. Kind of dry and not too much flavor. I also ordered a dozen cookies and those were popular. Sigh...so many reviews on Yelp complain about lackluster service and the present problem of understaffing. Not so at NYPD Pizza. If I could give them 10 stars for service, I would! For food? Three at best. Fix the kitchen! read more

The absolute worst Peter, I've ever received in my entire life. It was supposed to be a margarita pizza, but it looks like 2 cups of water poured on it, baked then sent to me. We ate here for a late lunch based on a reservation. The inside was dark and comfy. Our waitress was friendly, and the food was good. For an appetizer, we had the garlic cheese knots, which were kind of a hot mess but tasted good for comfort food. My wife thought her Chelsea Chopped Salad (a healthy serving of mixed chopped greens, Gorgonzola cheese, sun-dried tomatoes, sliced almonds, bacon, cucumbers, and NYPD's own blend of its house and ranch dressings) was very good. I think the real story and what makes NY Pizza Department memorable is their water filtration system that makes the pizza taste like it's from NY. This really matters to provide an amazing crust. I also like that when you order a pizza, you are able to order multiple pizzas from the menu for half and half. We had half Bruschetta and half Brooklyn Family (Pepperoni, sausage, and fresh basil). I am looking forward to going to the Tucson franchise! read more
