Hot chocolate fest 2025
Angela C.

It's always a treat to visit NUTTEA! Their drinks are delicious and their hot chocolate entries are no exception! Both drinks come with a cookie and chocolate. The staff are friendly and are happy to give recommendations as well. Overall a cute little spot tucked in Kitsilano! PS - Great for lactose intolerant friends because everything is made with nut mylk! Please get the nut cream!!

Probably one of these BEST DRINKS I've had in Vancouver! Do not sleep on the nut cream! This stuff was heavenly. The barista described it as the perfect texture between butter cream and whipped cream... and I completely agree! The flavor was definitely nutty, but quite light and balanced the tea so well. I ordered from their Top 5 Menu, and went with the Red Grape Tea with Nut Cream. I was skeptical to be honest, but I absolutely loved it! Refreshing from the blended fresh grapes, but incredibly creamy from their housemade nut cream. 10/10 I recommend! I wish there was something like this where I lived. Very jealous of the Kitsilano locals!

This place is such a gem! The product and service are A+! We ordered an oolong nut mylk tea and a strawberry tea with nut cream both at 50% sweet. Both drinks were delicious, but if I had to really recommend one I'd say try something with the nut cream. It's so delish!!!

This is my favorite bubble tea spot! The drinks are always bang on, never overly sweet, and you can really taste the quality in the tea. I love that you can choose your sweetness level (none, low, medium, or high) I usually go with low and it's perfect. They even make their own house Nut Mylk right on the premises, which makes the drinks so smooth and creamy. Plus, everything here is vegan! The space itself is really cute and has a vibe with tables both inside and outside. It's great for a casual hangout or just enjoying a peaceful drink. What really makes this place special, though, is the owner. She is the nicest person and always so welcoming. If you're unsure what to order, she will happily guide you to the perfect drink. I've discovered new favorites this way. Between the creative flavors, the care that goes into the ingredients, and the genuine kindness behind the counter, this spot is a total standout. If you love bubble tea, you'll be so glad you came here!

So happy a fellow friend and Yelper suggested Nuttea. It's been a long time I've been back and I truly forgot how fantastic their nut milks are. Hunny Dream with it's honey comb on top, nut milk, nut cream (that they provide you with a cute wooden spoon for ease of consuming) all very very well thought out. Going to add the staff that day were hilarious and very considerate inquiring about allergies. Just noticed their humour in the posterboards and menus of funny cats and capybaras.

Cute stuff for sale!

Walking along 4th street on a fall evening, I wanted something warm and remembered Nuttea was nearby. The place is small but cutely decorated with a wall full of things for sale that you don't need but will definitely want. I got the black sesame nut mylk since I can't resist anything with black sesame. It was warm and nutty but could have had a bit more sweetness. It was just okay but I felt like a different drink would have been much better. I won't write them off and look forward to trying again the next time I'm in the area. Service was helpful.

The first time I visited Nuttea, I was amazed by their creamy, rich nut cream on top of the drink and almost became addicted. The Nut Mylk is made from real nuts with no added preservatives and additives. One of the healthiest choices. What I tried: Strawberry Heat- Matcha nuts mylk tea with in house real strawberry sauce, nuts cream with freeze dry strawberry Limited time offers. I really like frozen strawberries with nut cream! The strawberry sauce with Matcha nut milk tea was delicious. I ordered the 'not too sweet' option, but next time, I might try the regular sweetness. Honey Dream - Earl Grey Tea, cashew, walnut, macadamia, hazelnuts, almonds, vegan honey crumbs, Diary free, soy free and gluten free. Limited time offers. Incredibly tasty drink! As usual, the nut cream was delicious--very creamy. I can't stop having it. I think Earl Grey really complements the nut cream. Hopefully, this item will become a permanent menu. Every time I come to this shop, I'm never disappointed. Their drinks are not only a healthy choice but also a uniquely delicious one.

Great place for vegan bubble tea in a cute and clean shop! The nut mylk is better than any non dairy milks, like oat, soy, or almond milk. The nut cream is the vegan substitute for the cheese foam, which adds a sweet and salty form on top of ur drink. Even if you have a nut allergy, there are still options! The staff was very nice and made a fruit tea for my son with nut allergies. They have a special blender set aside for those with nut allergies so it is not cross contamination with their nut mylk and creams.

The staff here are so friendly and the drinks are great! The vegan cream is one of the best i've ever had!

I tried the Ruby Black w/original cream and Oolong w/ pistachio cream. I liked the oolong more since it smell good & with strong oolong tea taste. The cream is very very rich in nut flavor and super creamy. I enjoyed them so much and I went there two days in a row highly recommended for nut & tea lovers

I'm pretty sure I saw a Nuttea in taipei, so I think this place is legit. As advertised, no milk, all nuts. It's great for the lactose intolerant, and terrible for nut allergies. I thought the nut cream was pretty tasty when I tried it on its own, but I think the flavour intensity and saltiness was lacking when it mixed in with the rest of my drink. The tea quality was great though!

Not a vegan but I've been lactose intolerant forever and this cafe specializes in amazing vegan drinks. I came for their hot chocolate festival 2024 drinks and was very pleasantly surprised. They also have a wide variety of vegan bubble teas that 100% pass the bubble tea flavour test. They let me try the nutmylk on its own and it was very rich, extremely flavourful. I've tried a few of the flavours, and dare I say it's better than regular bubble tea. The baristas were very knowledgeable. what I ordered: "bear with me" - a brown sugar ginger hot chocolate, topped with nut cream and house-made chocolate truffle bears "night wish" - a black sesame hot white chocolate, topped with nut cream and agar candies from @sweetpeajelly each drink comes with 2 vegan butter cookies from @meilulustudio I am obsessed with the nut cream. I can never have the foam caps at bubble tea places because it floors me so this mouthwatering cream cap is my new hyper fixation . The ginger and black sesame flavours really stand out in each drink and the portion sizes are really generous! . . . . . If cafe hopping is your thing, follow me and I'll show you the best spots around Vancouver! @yvrcafescene on Instagram

I had the most amazing experience stopping in here yesterday. I had heard about this place recently from someone who worked in the community and I had not realized that they served bubble tea. I knew that they had nut milks but bubble tea is my most favourite beverage in the world so I knew I had to come by at some point. I ordered the oolong milk tea with tapioca pearls and it was creamy and delicious. I am not a dairy free person all the time but I do try to buy nut or oat beverages from time to time. Sometimes nut or oat milk has a bit of a funky taste but oh my gosh, they let me taste a sample of just their plain nut milk and it was nutty and almost the slightest bit cocoa-y in away. On top of letting me sample a bit of their nut milk, I also sampled their agar pearls as well. They definitely would taste really good with a fruity beverage. The next time I go back I am going to try a drink with their foam. It's like that cheese foam that you can get at some bubble tea shops but there is obviously made with that milk and therefore dairy free. But it was so delicious a slight bit salty but dense and delicious. To top it all off, I receive the most amazing customer service. The space is small but beautiful inside. I'm so glad to have a delicious bubble tea place really close to my house.

Amazing! Such creative drinks and the only all plant-milk tea place I've found. Cool mini shop too if you're looking for a souvenir.

Ok ok, what's better than driving to Canada to eat vegan food, I'll tell you .. driving to Canada to eat vegan food while meeting new vegan friends! We decided to meet up at Mila Plant-Based, 100% vegan restaurant in the downtown area sort of right in-between Downtown Eastside, Science World, and Gastown. The restaurant has a lovely, quaint ambiance, feels very welcoming upon entering. The bathroom was .. well, posh! I don't normally make a point to comment on bathroom decor, while average in size, I felt like I was being upgraded to First Class lol. Ok, moving right along .. lol They have two menus, a Weekend Brunch Menu and, for all other hours, a Lunch/Dinner Menu, ..we ordered from the Weekend Brunch Menu. I had the Bibimbap Bowl - rice bowl with Yo Egg, mushroom bacon, kimchi, tempura yam, cucumber, carrot, gochujang sauce. This bowl had many layers of unique flavors all married perfectly in every exquisite bite, I say this very sincerely! My wife ordered the Pina Colada Pancakes - pancakes, toasted coconut syrup, cashews, cocktail cherries, rum-candied pineapple, mint. Each bite easily lived up to the the decadence displayed in the included image. We absolutely have to find our way back to Mila to try their Lunch/Dinner menu as it includes some amazing sounding options such as, Feta Stuffed Date - date, feta, pistachio, olive oil, maldon salt, ABURI LOX OSHI - carrot lox, aburi sauce, shiso, serrano, 6 pieces, Tuna Crispy Rice - watermelon akami tuna, sushi rice, lime kewpie mayo, green onion, sesame seeds, 3 pieces, and much more. We had quite a few options to choose from regarding where to meet for brunch, with every option sounding wonderful in their own way. Ultimately, we decided on Mila because of their unique, fresh and inspiring sounding dishes and yeah, they did not disappoint. Thanks so much for dropping by and reading this review. Do yourself a favor and extend the same courtesy to Mila by ... dropping by .. and enjoying some amazing tasty food.

The restaurant was decorated nicely, but nothing remarkable so I was surprised by the presentation of the food!

What a great place to have vegan pizza!…read more I am amazed with all the flavors and the crust is just the yummiest! I've got their Freaky Greeky pizza. It's a pesto based pizza topped with cashew feta, garlic, tomato, olives and red onion. The pizza is loaded with ingredients, I enjoyed it so much I can't wait to order it again! I highly recommend this place, would choose their pizza any day without thinking twice! Friendly staff and great service.

I had the Freaky Greeky with a yam-cassava crust. I chose that since the menu board boasted it's vitamin and mineral content. Sold!!! It had (what I assume was) Daiya Mozzarella and Cashew style feta, black olives, tomatoes, basil and walnuts. I have to say that the walnuts were the most pleasant surprise of the toppings. An added crunch and some true delicious flavor!! The crust, being GF and the specific ingredients, led it to be quite crunchy, but I love crunchy crusts. I hadn't had lunch but a few hours prior so I had half the pizza at dinner, than half before bed after drinks! Yum!!! My husband had the Samsara Sausage pizza. He said it was just okay. He said the sausage tasted like a Light life Hot Dog. Which is obviously NOT what you're going for with sausage. Our friends shared the Buffalo Buddha pizza and gave hubby their last piece. He said that was quite nice and he'd have had that again. They too had the GF Yam-cassava crust. I'd definitely get this pizza again but I would NOT walk here and preferably be in a group for safety.

Vegan Shoku - Vegan Salmon ... unbelievable in flavour

Wow! First of all, vegan sushi spots are still an uncommon find so the fact this exists is such a…read moretreat. In the Bay Area we have Shizen/Tane and which I can safely say are still pretty different from Vegan Shoku. (Both are so good!!). Vegan Shoku uses konjac-based sashimi which allows for sashimi and nigiri that looks like its conventional fish counterparts. Today, we ordered 1. Salmon Eggplant This reminded me of nasu dengaku but with a "salmon salad" (think tuna salad) on top of charred eggplant. There was a miso sauce, the same that's used for nasu dengaku dressing the entire thing. The eggplant was creamy but not oil-laden, and the salmon worked nicely with the eggplant and miso dressing. Every bite was perfection. Each bite was garnished with fried carrot strings and beet. Sooooo good! 2. Shoku Roll We figured we should definitely order this since it's the restaurant's namesake. Since it was topped with mango & a popping boba, it had a hint of sweetness which was refreshing. 3. Dynamite Roll Absolutely gorgeous roll that packed as much flavor as it did color. The sweet, savory, creamy and crunchy.... this roll takes you on a journey and more! 4. Teriyaki Beef Roll Don't ask questions, just order this! It's like a beef donburi in roll form. 5. Salmon Nigiri I've never been a fan of seafood so this was a bit of a risky pick. Sure enough, it was too realistic for me so I had to hand it off to my bf to finish. For those who love and miss the taste of salmon, this is a must try! 6. Takoyaki While this looked like takoyaki, it definitely wasn't. They were still tasty but they were more like meatballs than anything. Takoyaki is supposed to have chunks of octopus (which when I make it at home, I use konyaku), shredded cabbage, ginger in a savory pancake-like batter cooked in a ball-shaped cast iron mold, topped with aonori, mayo and brown sauce. The meatballs were in a brown sauce of some kind and were incredibly robust and meaty. They were too meaty for my liking (some mock meats sort of gross me out!) but that's more of a preference thing and doesn't speak to the quality. It was very flavorful, it just wasn't for me. 7. Matcha Ice cream The ice cream looked like it was slice from a cake! Maybe they peeled back the paper carton of the ice cream and cut a slice from that. It looked super surgical and clean, like art! The flavor was super robust and matcha-y. It was not the typical (disappointing) green-colored ice cream that tasted mostly of vanilla and had hints of match. This was the real deal! What a rare find! It extremely pricey but it more than made up for all the times I've ordered green-colored matcha imposter ice creams, so get this if you are a matcha lover! Being how uncommon these types of restaurants are, the server was super patient in answering my questions and was helpful in making suggestions too. If I find myself in BC in the future, you can bet I'll be making another stop in here to try other items on their menu. This was such a treat!!

I had a Plant…read moreCurious BOGO deal too so I was able to use that for a couple of Oshi sushi orders.  The food wasn't bad but honestly not as good as I had hoped. I think there was a bit too much rice used in the sushi. Smaller amounts of rice would have been preferred. Also, we found that the Salmon Avocado Oshi tasted just like the Tuna Avocado Oshi. Either that, or they gave us two identical sushi orders by mistake instead of 1 Salmon Avocado Oshi and 1 Tuna Avocado Oshi. I was kinda bummed that they didn't have their vegan spam that day. Hoping to go back some other day and try it. If it weren't for the vegan spam though, I probably wouldn't bother coming back to this restaurant again. Pains me to say that as I'm usually a huge supporter of plant based restaurants but...this restaurant was really just OK for me. Not horrible, but aside from wanting to try their vegan spam...the food just wasn't good enough for me to want to come back again.

This review is 3 months late, but even a few months later, we remember our meal like it was yesterday and can't wait to return the next time we're in Vancouver. Getting to experience a Michelin Guide-recommended vegan restaurant was one of the highlights of our trip! We had (from the June 2025 menu): the Bread, the Broccolini, the Chickpea Tofu, and the Potato Cavatelli. Not a single crumb, morsel, drizzle of sauce, or even pea was left on the plates! Every bite was so full of flavor and decadent, we were so sad when the meal was over ;) The stand-out though was the Chickpea Tofu, the best tofu we've ever had and it seemed to just melt in your mouth. We also loved sitting at the bar that overlooks the open kitchen. They offer those seats for guests who want a more immersive, interactive dining experience. It was really cool to watch the chefs create each masterpiece. Overall a truly memorable and delicious experience!
