Based on their GREAT Yelp reviews my daughters & I travel all the way from bay area to Vacaville just to get our eyes checked and get our glasses & contacts. It works out for us since they are in a great location with lots of stores & restaurants so we can make a nice outing out of it. The staff here is really nice. It's a very nice business and I would probably continue to come back except the pricing seems a little silly. I have decent VSP coverage and for the second time, Nut Tree Optometry asked me to come out of my pocket for my material allotment. Dr. Kabir and is staff are super friendly, professional and pleasant to work with. His chair side manner is delightful and he makes you feel special because he remembers things about you, or at least takes time to review your file ahead of time to personalize your visit. First time walking in and got seen the same day! The front desk staff was so friendly and welcoming. The environment was very classy and chic and the layout of the place was spacious, updated and clean. I was lucky enough to see the infamous Dr. Kabir. My word, this doctor was amazing! He is very experienced, knowledgeable and confident in his position. He kept my "doctor visit anxieties" at ease with his warm and upbeat personality. Although I ended up getting contacts, I had a chance to browse around at the frames and they had a very large selection of various brand names. I'll definitely be back for a pair. My wife and I walked in on a Friday afternoon to schedule eye appointments for the both of us. Luckily, Dr. Kabir had an opening to do an eye exam right then and there. I was really glad we were able to get an exam done the same day because I've been fighting migrains for the past week and my wife had lost her old pair. He patiently reviewed and discussed my exam and answered all of my questions. He's a very knowledgable doctor and very personable. He's also very current with the latest optical technology. Nut Tree Optometry is how every optometrist office should operate. They have a wide variety of eyewear, competitive pricing, a pleasant and central location, and their customer service is simply amazing. I intend to go back to Nut Tree Optometry for all of my future eyewear needs. They're located in the Nut Tree shopping center, and ample parking is available nearby. The shop is bright and airy with lots of windows and new hardwood floors... It's a nice change of pace from all of those stuffy optometrist offices out there. The stylish environment and large selection of designer frames makes it seem like a high end shop where you'd expect to drop a ton of money, but the prices at Nut Tree Optometry are much much lower; they're comparable to what you'd find online or at other brick-and-mortar eyewear retailers. I was able to get an eye exam the same day that I called them! Eye exams usually take me a long time to get through (I get stuck trying to decide which chart is more clear than the other) but Dr. Kabir made it a quick and efficient process. He's a really nice doctor who was patient with me the entire time. He also happily answered a bunch of eye related questions that I've had for a while now. It was quite an informative exam! Customer service in both the front and back office at Nut Tree Optometry is exemplary, and that especially shows with Yelda, their office manager. She's super helpful, hard working, and really strives to ensure that customers have the best experience possible. Picking out eyewear usually sucks, but with Yelda it was a fun experience and I really felt like I had my own personal stylist and shopper. She helped me pick out frames that fit my face and looked good on me, and she even special ordered some Prada frames in a size and color that they didn't offer in the store just to see if I might like them better than what we had already picked out. I never felt rushed either. Very cool. Yelda didn't attempt to oversell me on anything. She explained the difference between all of the different lens materials and coatings offered, and even though I was ready to choose the most expensive options she explained what would be best for my particular needs (which ended up costing less). I've been back there a few times to try on some different Maui Jim sunglasses and each time both Yelda and Dr. Kabir have greeted me by name and both with big smiles! Even when the office has been busy Yelda made me feel welcome and at home there. These two have made me feel like family and I will continue to give them my business and recommend their services to everyone I know. This was my first experience with any optometry. I didn't need glasses before so I had nothing to compare it to. That was a couple years ago when they first opened. The following is a summary of my experience: - EXTREMELY overpriced. - But also EXTREMELY sociable and polite. - When they were done with my initial exam and wanted me to start choosing frames, I had to ask them if they needed to examine my other eye because they had only examined one. I felt it was a little odd they only needed the #s on one eye to Rx glasses that fit both, good thing I asked because they had to take me back to the office in the back to examine my other eye. This rattled my confidence in them a bit. But I understood. - They convince you that you need those way overpriced big brand fancy glasses. I only needed reading glasses with minor changes, did not need the $1000 frames (yes, this is after insurance and I am double covered with the best VSP) I was talked into. I had nothing to compare your average price of frames & lenses to so I was led to believe this was the norm. IT'S NOT! I was also talked into every single lens upgrade ...why did I need the sunglasses transitions for reading books in bed at night? I did not understand what the upgrade was but was told I absolutely needed it for what I planned to do with the glasses, which was reading and playing on the computer at times. Waste of lots of $. - They were extremely slow to get the glasses done. - The times you can actually see the optometrist is very limited which is hard on work schedules. End result, I went to Costco when insurance let me go again and I spent under $250 for 2 pairs of really good glasses that are also brand name frames (not that brands mattered too much). For what its worth, save your money and just go to somewhere more affordable because you can get the same quality for far less. read more

Nut Tree Optometry has been my Optometrist for a couple of years now. And as always, they were excellent again today. Last weekend, I lost a pair of glasses over at the outlet malls, and after finally giving up on finding them, I walked in to NTO. Instead of requiring me to make an appointment, I was seen then and there. I picked out a new pair of frames, was measured and adjusted and the order has been placed...all within just a few minutes of my surprise arrival! Great service, but a complete rip off. I cannot believe that anyone pays these prices. I have vision insurance and they want to charge me 5x as much with insurance as I was paying without insurance! What???? $500 for one pair of glasses WITH insurance? $80 for just a contact exam with insurance? It is the same exam! They are marking up services and products 5000%! Everyone can get the same glasses for a fraction of the price online or at any of the larger opitical stores. At costco you can get one exam that covers both glasses and contacts for $75! I went here after reading a review and thought I should give this office a try. I'm glad I did. This office is very clean when entering, the front office staff is very nice and professional. Greets you right away. The doctor is so very nice and took his time to examine and also explained what he was doing before doing it as I do not like the puff in my eye test. When my exam was done, the ordering of my frames and lens was a very pleasant experience as they did not pressure me to go with something more expensive but just gave me options that were available and let me ponder what I would want for my best needs. As a physician Im very critical of other doctors. With that said, I think Dr. Kabir is a great doc. He is very intellegent, caring, informative...and just as important as those characteristics, he has great bedside manner. He is very knowlegeable, that becomes very obvious early in the conversation. It's nice to know there are doctors like him still around. His staff is also excellent. Very friendly and accommodating. The office manager was very helpful and friendly. I wish the medical staff I work with were more like her. The medicine world is changing, becoming more corporate everyday. So its really nice to see such a group still exists. The other thing i was really impressed with was the selection of sun glasses. I usually purchase my sun glasses from the big chains, but not anymore. This place has a great selection, the prices are even better, and comes with great customer service.
