DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR BUSINESS! I came in and wasn't not even acknowledged! I asked the employee at the desk where do I sit if I want to get a pair of glasses and I already have had an eye exam. She said to sit in the optical section . I sat down with my son , we sat there for almost an hour and the lady at the desk never even spoke to us. Never looked up at us and continue to read papers and type on her laptop. They are rude and unprofessional! read more

I've been a patient with Dr Sandler in Vacaville for some years now and received nothing but EXCELLENT CARE from the office staff, assistants, and Dr Sandler. He's always been very caring, understanding, and is very patient. He explains everything until I clearly know what's what with my eyes/sight. His calm demeanor makes me feel comfortable. I had cataract removal 2 days ago, 1 eye, and it feels like a miracle seeing with such clarity again, with NO PAIN or discomfort at all. North Bay out patient surgery is also excellent, and I was in and out less than 3 hours. The anesthesiologist was gentle and caring, as well as surgical assistant. Overall, I'm very excited to get my other eye done also, ASAP. I'm very grateful I have Dr Sandler and staff taking care of me and my eyes x10! read more

Nice office layout but... I don't recommend this place at all. Dr. Kalina Grimm has no patience she had a very unpleasant and dismissive attitude, acting as if answering basic questions was beneath her. As a specialist, she should expect that most patients don't understand eye health that's why they're seeing her. Instead of explaining things clearly, she told us to refer to a pamphlet for answers. That's unacceptable. Her overly cheerful "perfects" and "greats" followed by straight face came off as sarcastic and condescending rather than helpful or sincere. I'd like Dr. Kalina Grimm to reflect on why primary care doctors refer patients to specialists because they're supposed to have more knowledge and experience in that field. If she doesn't want to engage with patients or educate them about their eye health, maybe she's in the wrong profession. This experience left a bad impression, and I hope she improves her professionalism and patient care moving forward. read more

Love Dr Sandler!! He's so personable, thorough, and really made me feel comfortable and taken care of. My eyes are in "perfect shape" and it was nice to see the photos. Totally misleading on their charges. They told my wife after the eye exam she would have to pay $55 to get a prescription for glasses. Not true and illegal. When she went back to challenge this bogus charge, it "magically" turned into a Refraction test charge that insurance does not cover (and if that was the case they would have asked for that fee upfront). Not even sure she received this test. Stay away from these con artists. read more

Went in, did an exam. Was told i needed a glass contact on my eye. And i would be called by the optometrist to set an appointment. Not only did i never get a call. But then i was told that the Rx was never finalized and would have to start the process over. Including paying for another exam. Load of crap. If you can help it. Do not go to them. read more

Fairfield Office.... The worst customer service at an Optometry office I have ever had. Today, I took my daughter to get her eyes checked. First off, there is no sense of privacy. The patients seating in the lobby can hear all of the conversations taking place. Secondly, the front office staff and supervisor are rude, lack empathy, and do not have a clear understanding of how eligibility and benefits work. I overheard them giving the wrong information to a patient about their benefits. The worst part, is that they ganged up and were being rude and sarcastic to the patient. The situation was very upsetting and we never got to see the doctor because we stormed out. Message to the Office Supervisor and Front Office Receptionist: STOP talking about your patients in a negative manner. And, STOP being mean girls. Just remember patients are the reasons you have a job. Rather than scolding them for not understanding their health benefits, help them understand by explaining how things work in plain English. Message to the Physician's: I strongly recommend implementing some type of customer service training for all your clinic employees. It's all about the customer experience! read more

Absolutely thorough exam. Professional and trustworthy. Dr. Sandler attended to my son after a serious accident 20 years ago. Severed optic nerve resulting in severe loss in one eye. He was the best. I am a new patient, and don't know if that was the reason I had to wait for 50 minutes before being called in. After the initial exam, I was taken to another room and had to wait another 15 minutes for the doctor to come in. By the way, I had made the appointment with Dr. Sandler, but I was seen by Dr. Ho (who was very nice, but was neither the one I had been recommended nor the one I had made the appointment with). I have a follow--up appointment in a couple of weeks. Let's see if the wait times improve, because this is unacceptable. read more

Last week I went to take my broken glass frame to replace everyone when we go new faces the girl she just knew I request tiger if you replaced she said it's almost 14 months warranty is expired I request her 4 months back you replaced its just 4 moths she said have you receipt for that. FAntastic, caring, immediate service when you need it most!! My glasses frame broke on my way to work, I freaked out and pulled my car over. I sat praying out loud, "Oh God, where can I got to get these fixed now and not be late for work? I heard Him say, ..."Solano Eye Specialists". I walked in, showed them the glasses and lens that had popped out, and they went to work. Within 10 minutes, he was back, smiling saying, there you are, good as new". Incredible. Swanky joint. I've been to four other VSP providers in this frickin' town... and this by far is the fanciest joint... in a nice new building... HUGE waiting area... nice display... we're talkin' like the Beverly Hills of the Ville, people... They had Gucci, Dior... need I say more? Anyway, I must say I did see my Gucci frames that were 2 years old there was another pair I had seen 2 years ago... but it's not like anyone in Vacaville would know that. I know I sound like a snob, but if i'm going to sport these almost everyday for the next year, maybe two, i'm at that point in my life where I can afford to treat myself and look good so dag nabit imma do it... Dr. Sandler has done a great job with my fathers eyes, and yes like others said he's well worth the wait. The ONLY reason I removed the one star was because of the wait. They get mad at you if you're late and might even charge you but they have no qualms about making their patients wait 20, or 30 minutes plus just to see the nurse and then another 20 or 30 minutes to see the doctor. The least amount of time you will spend here is probably an hour and a half. The most I've spent here with my father is 3 hours+. But as I said before they have good doctors here who are well worth the wait. Just make sure you bring something to occupy your time like a book, tablet, or smartphone. read more

Solano Eye Specialist - Fairfield Location Solano Eye Specialists 1345 Gateway Blvd Fairfield, CA The absolute worst place I have ever been to for glasses. In just shy of three months I have had three "regular" eye exams and one "special cataract" exam performed by Dr. Sandler. All exams had the same results. After the first exam I ordered two pair one progressive and one mid-range computer. I waited two weeks which I thought was reasonable. However when I went to pick them up I couldn't see anything, my eyes were checked again by the same optometrist and glasses were checked against the prescription. All checked but I still can't see. I was told that the measurements were done incorrectly so they would correct their mistake and make new ones. Waited another two weeks and went to pick up the corrected glasses and still could not see correctly. I felt as if I were looking through a trapezoid lens. Office manager got involved, new exam. After a few questions it was determined that I more than likely have serious cataracts or a stigmatism and a I was told that I should have a special cataract exam done by an ophthalmologist even though the optometrist said I had very mild beginning cataracts and noting to be concerned with she actually said we'll take a look again next year but didn't think there would be any change. After all this I had to wait a month before I could get an appointment. I can be a very patient man, but I should have been that loud obnoxious customer, perhaps I would have gotten better service. Exam done glasses ordered they are going to put a "HOT RUSH" on my order since I've had so many issues. Well two weeks later nothing. Finally received the midrange glasses, they are ok, not great but ok. Another month or so passes and I get the progressives. I know that it could take a couple of weeks to get used to a new prescription well its been more than a month I can tolerate them for a short time. I am so sick of this place I'mm not even going to back for another fix. My advice Costco, they include all the things I was charged extra for at Solano Eye Specialist. read more

FAIRFIELD LOCATION: In November 2015 we sent in a pair of Fendi frames to have my daughters prescription lenses put in & they said "We lost her frames. We'll give you a $350 credit towards new frames." That's bullshit! I'm sure they were stolen. I should've sued them then. I walk in today and I was asked to see David for help in optical sales. I sat down & I began telling him, "we ARE COVERED by VSP and my daughter was just fitted @ Kaiser for contact lenses but we have her prescriptions filled through you guys. I'd like to know how much the contacts will cost here. She's had glasses through you guys 2 times before." He said well do you know the name of the insurance? "Northern California Pipe Trades & Trust Fund." He said well let me see if I can look her up. (If she's a patient there why would you not be able to look her up?!). He then asked, what's your name? Do you know the name of the insurance. Again I said, "Northern California Pipe Trades & Trust Fund. He said, "Oh, well that's partnership. We don't cover glasses or frames through partnership." (Insert HIS smug face here) I suppose my highly pigmented melanin pierced his hearing because I can only surmise that's why he heard Partnership instead of NORTHERN CALIFORNIA PIPE TRADES & TRUST FUND!!!! NO SHADE to Partnership but, my husband WORKS HIS ASS OFF DAILY to provide benefits for all 7 of us!!! Gotdammit! I say, "Partnership? Like State of CA?" No... We have VSP!" He then asks for my husbands SSN & then says, "Oh, I found it." The first thing out of his mouth was, "you're not eligible for benefits until November 2016." I say, "And how much will the contacts be then?" HELLLLLLLOO?!?! Isn't that what I asked you for in the first place?!!! He coldly quoted me the prices as if I was "bothering" him. FAIRFIELD OFFICE* I recently had an eye exam done at Kaiser and only wanted sunglasses here. The gentleman they had me sit down with checked my insurance and then started to upsell me before he even asked what I was there for. When he came up for air, I let him know that I was only there for sunglasses and the frames I have on we're less than a month old. He then tried to upsell me for the sunglasses. I had a horrible experience at the Fairfield office. I went for an exam in January, made an appointment, waited 45min to an hour to be seen. They ordered my glasses and the lab kept making mistakes week after week. It took 7 weeks to get them. They offered to refund me, and has yet to send me a check. Brought my dad to his first new patient appointment to Solano Eye Specialists, the new office in Fairfield, CA and I'm beyond angry and disappointed. The receptionist/assistant was nice and the office looked clean and organized, thus I gave the one star. But If it wasn't for those two factors, I'd give them zero. We were being seen by Dr. Futch. Everything seemed to be going the direction of what eye exams should be going, especially first ones, until she started getting an attitude. Not sure if she had a bad morning, having mood swings or simply annoyed by us because of my dad, who is 65 years old, lack of english and slowness in answering her questions, but she was just rude beyond belief and did not have any patience at all. There is no excuse for you to have a rude careless attitude in a field where you are supposed to be helping people. Keep your personal issues outside of work and/or fake your politeness if you have to. She kept rushing us, annoyingly tapping her leg like she just wanted it to be over with already and leave, as if we were wasting her time. When I asked if it was okay if my dad would be able to get a new pair of glasses because he broke his, she replied in the loudest and rudest tone ever, "YOU DIDN'T TELL ME HE NEEDED NEW GLASSES. YOUUUU (literally stretching that word out). JUST SAID HE HAD GLASSES." saying it as if she was accusing me of lying to her about something. So I said, "Yeah, and I said he broke his glasses. So he wants new ones." Then she goes, "WELLLL. I didn't check for a prescription. Does he REALLY need new glasses?" In the same rude manner, as if she didn't want to do it. So my dad answers yes and I couldn't believe my eyes or what I was hearing as I SWEAR (and I'm not exaggerating this either!) she literally rolled her eyes, gave the biggest huff ever, got up real fast and went "AAAALLLLRRIGGHTTYY....THEN!" In a loud rude mean sarcastic tone, acting as if she was a teenager being forced to do something. So then she starts moving the machinery around, slamming it about so loud and quick without a care, I thought the thing was going to break. She kept demanding my dad to move around, look here and there, in the same rude manner, talking to him like he was deaf and stupid, still rushing. As she was checking my dads eyes with the different lenses, she kept asking impatiently, actually almost demanding and quite loudly "can you see, can he see now?!" (Mind you, the assistant earlier gave my dad eye drops to dilate his eyes because of his diabetes and said his vision would be blurry for 3 hours) so I tell her he can't because of the eye drops they gave him earlier. This only made her even more annoyed and I frankly don't think she listened or cared because after 4 slides checking to see if my dad can see from the different lenses, my dad says he can see only "a little" on the 5th one and she completely stops, pushes the thing away and says " LOOK YOUR DAD CAN SEE WITHOUT HIS GLASSES, he doesn't need glasses." Now, I was fuming and wanted nothing more than to get us out there as fast as I could. This was my dad's first appointment here as a new patient and honestly, I've never met such a rude and careless physician. She made us feel like she didn't care at all, that we were wasting her time, and that we were complete idiots. She was probably in her 30's or 40's but acted as if she was a teenager with a HUGE attitude problem. I couldn't believe it. I wouldn't recommend this place but If you decide you want to do business here, have someone, ANYONE, else do it for you. This lady was ridiculous. First impressions are important to me and is a main factor if I want to recommend the place and/or continue going to a place, especially if its the health of my family on the line, and I definitely was not impressed. I am definitely never bringing my dad back here again or recommending it to others. In fact, I'll give a fair warning to others about this place from now on. read more
