I was happy with this location the first time I came year ago, I was happy with the service. We received my son's regular no transition glasses within a week and a half and no problem. This last time it took 6 weeks to get my son his transition lenses. The receptionist said it would take about two weeks and they would call me when they came in. WRONG, I kept following up 3 weeks after and the first time was told that the lab had the lenses done but never received the frames because they must have gotten lost. No sorry from them just excuses and was told it would take another week. Then I called the next week and was told the lab just got the frames and it would take another week to get them. The receptionist argued with me when I said why it takes 6 weeks to get a pair of glasses and she said it was only 5 weeks. Still no sorry. I went to Hori Optical for 4 pair of lenses (had my last year's frames), two clear and 2 sunglasses. The clerk only wrote up 3 of the 4?? When I left, I thought I had paid for all 4 ($550.00) for 8 lens only. Three or 4 weeks later I Received the tinted glasses, and they were the wrong tint (lighter than the original). I specifically requested 1 shade darker. I was told that the only fix was to leave them for a redo, and wait another 3 to 4 weeks. I ask for a refund for the tinted lens, not an option. This business made 2 major mistakes and would not accept responsibility for it. I took my new expensive wrong tinted to Cosco for replacement, one week wait time, much less $$'s. I had the worst experience I've ever had at a medical office. I was early for my appointment by six minutes. They wouldn't let me in the office saying they were not open yet. I waited in my car for 10 minutes while they opened then when I went in, they told me I was late for my appointment and would not let me see the doctor then they were very rude. I am so disappointed in the service at Horie Optometry. I paid to get my glasses (50% off lenses if I buy one pair or some such deal) and I sent in my own frames to get new lenses. I was informed I would be taken care or or get new frames if mine were damaged (which is why I still signed the damage waiver form). I've never had any problem with this company in the past (besides them forgetting to call me when my first pair was ready)so I wasn't expecting to have one now. I call them to see if my frames were sent out and they tell me they were broken by the lab. They say the best they can do is 50% off new frames and a 30$ refund. That means I'd still have to pay out of pocket for the rest of the cost. I just feel really unhappy with the service. On top of that, I had to get the one pair tightened twice and they still feel loose. They used to measure the actual circumference of your head to get the right fit, now they just go back and tighten them. The staff in office are nice, which is why I still give three stars although I will go elsewhere for glasses from now on. read more

I asked if I could make an appointment to see the doctor and they said yes but not till May. 2 months away. They talked to you like you're not good enough to be in the office. In my opinion the the entire front staff needs to be replaced. I've lived in Vacaville 30 years I've shopped in a lot of businesses small & large . In fact, I own a business here locally in town. I walked into this place prior to look at glasses and they were very rude like I wasn't good enough to be in their office - wow ..oddly I needed some new glasses I check my net work, and they were on the network list. I didn't know it was them at the time so I booked an appointment, I came in. I was 8 minutes late, I called prior to inform them as I just got done with the x-ray on my broken foot to remove the cast and get a boot. My family and I had a great experience at Dr.Horie's office. First of all, scheduling an appointment was easy- it can be done online on their website. On the day of our appointment, we met with the front office staff to check-in. They were all really kind and possessed great customer service skills. My daughter was taken back first and had her vision checked and I was seen soon after. Then we were shown the eyeglasses and they gave us time to choose which ones we wanted, and they also gave us the option to choose contact lenses if we wanted, but we chose not to. When we picked our frames we set down with an optician and she gave us additional options to add to our glasses. They told us it would take a few weeks to come in, but our glasses were done in a week- which was really quick compared to other eye doctors I've been to. On Wednesday July 26, 2023, I walked in to Dr. Horie office to schedule an eye appointment. I informed the gentleman that I need to schedule an appointment. He check their schedule and asked if I could come in on August 02, 2023 , at either 12:30 or 1:00 I told him it didn't matter so he scheduled me at 12:30 on August 02nd handing me a appointment card with the date and time. When arriving at 12:30 there was a sign saying closed will return at 1:30, so I left and returned at 1:30 telling the gentleman that he had scheduled me for a 12:30 appointment which he denied I was told my appointment was yesterday . I handed the appointment card to the lady at the desk with the young man standing behind her, she asked him if that was his writing he stated no basically call me a liar. I'm not very fond of going to optometrist because usually they're never able to get my eyesight right even after they check it. That being said it was time for and your prescription glasses were getting blurry. I tried Horie Optometry and let me tell you it was the best decision I've ever made. We went there a month ago to have my friend's eyes checked for possible eyeglasses. She's been feeling dizzy and got blurry vision so might be eye problem.. Long story short story, we got it all sorted out and my friend ended up getting the frame and lens.. She paid half and said in a week the glasses will be ready.. It's been 3 weeks and we tried to call & email them but no answer.. Very very unprofessional... My friend even wanted to cancel it but she already made a downpayment and refunding it from them is not possible. And wasting 3 weeks of waiting? Not to mention before we settled everything there was this woman who kept on offering some promotional crap so the bill will balloon but told my friend she shouldnt get it... I was very pleased with my experience here. I have Partnership Healthplan and there aren't many eye doctors to chose from. I picked here because I did not care for Donna Scalero, my hubby went to her and I went to test her out. RUDE. SO I went here. Dr Tia Horie is so kind and gentle. I literally got my glasses in 2 days!!! It was the fastest I have ever gotten a pair! Lo and behold my little man just got a notice from school he needed glasses. I took him here and he is very shy! My mother and I needed an eye exam and had called numerous places asking if they accepted out health insurance (Medical aka PHC for where we live). Horie Optometry was one of two places that accepted our insurance and decided to book an appointment with them only because the other place had a long wait time. THANK GOD! My mother immigrated from Korea and has always been frugal, which showed in the glasses that she has always worn (they were not good and didn't match her vision as good). I was concerned if this place would be adequate in both their services and customer interaction so that my mother would have a positive experience. Let me tell ya, the staff at the desk were friendly and nice, as well as Dr. Horie. The process was smooth, quick, and easy. When they knew that my mother has breast cancer, they treated her so well. Whenever I asked questions, the staff took the time to explain clearly and in a friendly manner. The fact that this place was away from busier areas in Vacaville made it feel like this was our own personal optometry spot. Another thing I learned was that they had a UC Davis undergrad student working there, which left a positive impression considering Dr. Horie and her office accepted students who (assumingly) were pursuing a path in optometry or of the like. Not sure why this office doesn't have more stars. I have been going to this office for years, when it was Kopecko and Mayer Vision Clinic. The atmosphere is always professional and selection is great. The doctors there appear very knowledgable, friendly and personable. Both my young sons see Dr. Horie and they love her. They have a toy area in the waiting room that they never want to leave. The front desk staff are friendly and so patient with young children. My kids like to be loud and touch everything. I originally brought my son here for his first eye exam as he was having trouble seeing the board at school. Dr Horie was amazing! She was quick, cheerful, so great with him and very informative. My son loved it so much he keeps reminding me that on his next birthday he gets to go see Dr. Horie as she told him he only needs to come in once a year lol Now I wear glasses and I was past due for my check up. The last place I went to left me with many questions and a lot of confusion when it came to my eyes and my prescription. I was told nothing by the doctor and when i went to order glasses online I was charged an additional $40 per pair of glasses because a of a "prism" that was needed. I set up my appointment with Dr. Horie and was excited to actually get some questions answered and TO MY SURPRISE she liked at the glasses I brought in and she said there was NO prism in my glasses #1 and no prism needed in my eyes AT ALL. Anyways! She was again wonderful, informative and quick. Even offering to review my previous prescription if I'd like! I recommend her to everyone I know who needs to see an optometrist.
