I have been a patient since moving to Vacaville in 2018 for my annual vision checks and lens replacements. The reason for my initial visit back in 2018 was because they were the only one in the area to have a specific Hoya lens available as an option. Through all these years, my encounters with the staff have been courteous and professional. More importantly, I appreciate the consistent customer service level extended by the staff. As an example of their customer service, I accidentally broke a lens this past summer that was just replaced in late 2023. I was expecting to pay full price for the replacement even when the staff informed me that she will see what can be done. To my surprise, I was informed that the lens was still under warranty and would be replaced without additional cost. As a result, I would recommend Vacaville Optometric Center for any of your vision care needs. read more

I've been going here since we moved here in 2004. At the time it was Dr. Carr and Dr. Carney. They were recommended because I wear gas permeable contacts. I don't know why I generally dread going to the eye doctor. I broke one of my contacts this week and I called out of desperation. They squeed me in the next day. It was such a great appointment. Dr. Carr really listened to my request and concerns and my new contacts are ordered. Yay!! read more

Pros: There is plenty of off-street parking in the rear of the business. Cons: After reading the reviews online, I gave this location a shot. I wasn't aware that an appointment was required if you already have a prescription, and just want to purchase glasses. I was told by one of the two ladies at the front desk that even with a prescription, it is preferred you have an appointment so a technician can be available to assist. I would have been open to making an appointment if allowed to see, and select eyeglass frames. She wouldn't even look me in the eyes. Don't know what that was about. After seeing she wasn't going to budge on her "preference," I thanked her and went to another, much friendlier location (Nut Tree Optometry). read more

For no reasonable reason I woke up with a very red and painful eye, Vacaville Optometrics got me in the same day! Dr Carr performed a very thorough check of both of my eyes, he also could not find a reasonable explanation and so taking a cautious approach he called in a prescription for me. He also scheduled to return at the end of the week so he can review my eye after having used the prescription. Both appointments fell under the one payment which was very reasonable with Insurance. It's been a while since I was last here. I'm working for another company and now my safety glasses from a year ago is starting to fall apart. I kinda dreaded coming here since my last visit was so terrible but I had no other options. My appointment was something else. The lady seemed so nice and willing to help. In fact, when she saw my regular pair of glasses she noticed my nose pieces to wrong. She got me a new set and adjusted them to my face (Thanks!). She was really friendly and full of information. I went in mid November 2021 to make my annual Medicare appointment for December. The appointment always must be the same month and date in order for Medicare to pay. I was told there was nothing available until January 2022 "but we will put you on a list". "We will call you if something becomes available but we do not leave messages". My 4 year old son's left eye has been red since Friday. It looks painful, but doesn't seem to bother him. I waited the weekend to make an apt just in case it was something simple like a stye. Monday comes around and his eye is still red! I called my son's pediatrician, but they couldn't fit him in until this coming Friday. I debated on taking him to Urgent Care, but I have never had good experiences with Urgent Care. Urgent Care usually takes blood pressure, tells me that they don't have the tools to diagnose, and then charges me $300-$400... with my luck, they wouldn't be able to diagnose my son. I figured I would take him to someone trained in eye care specifically! It's his eyes, he needs them... my worst fear was that if something was extremely wrong, he could lose his vision. I left Vacaville Optometric Vision Center with a weight lifted off my shoulders. They were able to diagnose him & give me instructions on what to do and what to avoid. My family has been coming to Vacaville Optometric for years and we have always been happy here. They have up to date technology that makes our visits a breeze and Dr. Carr is very knowledgeable. He takes his time to answer any questions I have. Office staff are friendly as well and patient with even the pickiest person picking out frames (me). I love everyone here! The office staff are all extremely helpful and friendly - they even fit me in for an emergency visit when I was having some vision problems. The doctors are very nice and work with you when assessing your vision. Some eye doctors in the past have flipped through the different prescriptions way too fast for me to consider, and I've had glasses made wrong in the past. But not here! The glasses from VOVC were made exactly right the first time, and the selection of frames is outstanding. I found something that looked funky and fresh in no time. VOVC accepts VSP which is the main reason I went here. The wait time is minimal since everything is by appointment. read more

Unlike the other yelpers, I love this place. It is small and feels like home... not like Lenscrafters where you are lost and unnoticed. I have seen both Dr. Carr and Dr. Carney and like them both. They are professional and knowledgeable and dont mind my going back and forth on which one looks better..... one or two.... lol Even after I moved from the area, I would still travel 2 hours to get the service I couldnt find elsewhere. Now, I go when I send my parents because I know they will be taken care of. The waiting room and office look have been updated recently and the waiting room is small, but Im never waiting long enough to notice. Sometimes I dont even have to give my name, the gals at the front are welcoming and know my name! The gals at the front always have time for my endless questions and do not seem to be bothered by them at all. Prices are competitive and service far exceeds expectations. Great selection of frames for both men and women. Newer styles and some older styles (mom likes the old stuff!) Great place to go if you need a great Dr and want personal service. read more

I recently moved to Vacaville and was looking for a new optometrist when I stumbled upon the Vacaville Optometric Vision Center. They got me an appointment with Dr. Carr quickly and I had a wonderful experience. The ladies who work there were very kind and professional. Dr. Carr is one of the most knowledgeable and friendly doctors I've ever met! He answered all questions I had and even knew about the rare medical condition that I have, which was surprising! Typically I have to tell my optometrists what to look for and what I am susceptible to, but not this time. After my thorough exam, the ladies were there to help me choose which glasses frames to get and were extremely attentive without being overbearing. I would highly recommend this practice! read more

I've never felt comfortable here. I've had three or four visits for routine glasses/contacts and one eye injury. I don't think I was treated badly, but I never really felt like the doctors or staff cared about me. I was just a number. In-out-check please. I had new lenses put in old frames and they scratched and flaked in just over a year. The prior lenses lasted 7 years. All that added up, I'll head elsewhere. They were fast and efficient, I just think they were too uncaring and the quality was unacceptable. read more

Not very happy with this place. My daughter lost a trial contact the first day. A holiday weekend nonetheless. So when they opened. I left work early to get her a replacement. I asked for an additional set for a backup just in case the same thing happens as it is very inconvenient to have to leave work etc. I offered to buy the extra set but they would not help me out. Luckily she didn't lose them but I would still rather buy online ad opposed to spending my money here. read more

I been here for about three years. I came here because my work place contracts with this office to give us safety glasses. I really enjoy their attentive and friendly service. The staff and optometrist are equally friendly. They have a nice selection of safety glasses and designer glasses. After taking the opportunity to obtain "no cost" services and spectacles from my major insurance company, I found they in no way could compete with the medical attention, thorough examination, customer service and sales/fitting experienced at my favorite Vision Care specialists: Vacaville Optometric Vision Center, Inc. FYI, I had been seeing Dr. Carr (and staff) for years--since I've been in Vacavile--dare I say in the 1990s?! I received my glasses, a new style and am once again able to see properly. I called in wanting an appointment to get contacts and what that incurs. They fit me in two weeks out and repeated the appointment time back to me during my call. I didn't receive a 24 hr notice because, as I found at the time of my appointment, that I had never been scheduled. The staff member helping me was rude and off-putting and not once did she offer to reschedule me. They constantly talked about patients behind their backs 'Ugh, I guess I got to check in on this Woman' (snarky voice). I love this office! The new tech reminders make it easy to remember and confirm an appointment. The front office staff is incredibly friendly and efficient. I saw Dr. Carr. He explained everything he was doing while he was doing it. One of my pet peeves with doctors is that they ask if you have any questions, but they do this as they are walking out the door, clicking on the computer, or just in general, not paying any attention to you. You feel rushed. But not so with Dr. Carr! He asked if I had any questions and didn't make it seem like he didn't have time to answer or another patient to see (which I'm sure he did). I needed safety glasses for my work and I figured that I would do a one stop shop by getting my eye exam and getting my regular glasses here. I totally regret coming here because the wait was too long, and the person who helped pick out my glasses was rude. I had an appointment at 1:45PM, and I showed up at 1:30PM. The doctor didn't seem me until 2:45PM, and I did not get out of there until 3:10PM. The person who helped with picking out the glasses was not helpful at all when I ask for opinion, she gave me an attitude when I told her I don't remember the history of my current pair of glasses, and was also insulting when she asked how much I was willing to pay for my glasses. It also took more than 2 months for me to get my glasses. read more
