Dr. Lee has odd mannerisms, can get talkative about unrelated topics and his office doesn't have that organized look but his technical capabilities are exceptional. I have been going to him for 20 years. He's "old school." He tries to manage his office while working alone a lot so I'm sure it's a challenge to keep up on the phone calls, paperwork and orders. I cut him slack because he always gives me contact lenses and glasses that work for my difficult eyesight even if it takes multiple tries. I know he's getting close to retirement but hope he can stick around as long as possible. I'll take good glasses over a glitzy office anyday! read more

Worse doctor I have ever been to and will not be back. Beware, he is inappropriate and creepy. My appointment took a long time because he was unorganized and too busy talking on and on about everything but the eyes. He must live under a rock because he could be sued for the alarming things he said to me. His wife is the secretary and is very rude. He answers phone calls while in the middle of giving you your exam. His office is dirty and had personal patient files laying around open all over. It took a long time to get my glasses and I had to keep calling them to check in. They didn't call me when the glasses did come in and when I went to pick them up, they were a lot more than what he told me. I had a printed copy of what he said the total would be and he still did not honor it. And the glasses are not working out for me, but I do not want to see him again. My husband and I recently had our eyes examined by Dr. Erny Lee and right off the bat noticed he is a TALKER. Our appointment was scheduled for 1pm and we thought if we arrived around 12:15ish, that perhaps he might be able to take us sooner. When we first arrived, there weren't any other cars around the office building so we had high hopes that we would be able to close to 2pm, since we had another engagement to attend to. NOPE! We ended up having to stay close to 3PM... Not only is this guy a talker especially about his Berkeley grad daughter, but he doesn't seem to know personal boundaries (i.e. touching). I know he didn't mean to "be all up in my face", but if you would like me to take my glasses off then just ask me, don't grab them off my face. And if you would like me to try on contacts, I'd prefer if you didn't spread my eyelids and force the contact in my eye! Simply, hand me the contact and I WILL insert the contact in my own eye appropriately. In addition, perhaps it was because our appointment was on a weekend, but I noticed Dr. Erny Lee doesn't have an assistant. During my husband and my appointment, there were about 5 other customers stopping by to pick-up contacts, glasses, etc. If Dr. Erny Lee had an assistant, then maybe our appointment could have ended about 1 hour earlier? Dr. Erny Lee is a very friendly guy, but let's just say thank goodness my eyes need to be checked only once a year! read more

Dr. Lee is a delight! Since his wife and daughter are his support staff he did field a few calls while I was there- but gave me excellent service. He explained things about my eyes and was gentle and professional. He did the exam quickly and yes, we did chat which I enjoyed!! He even knew what frames I should get and brought out new Anne Klein designs...hard to choose! As for pricing? You get what you pay for! My frames were cheaper than I got at Costo last time! I was extremely pleased by the service. Unlike some doctors, Dr. Lee was extremely helpful and actually went through the trouble of explaining my condition (what it means when blood vessels are supple or not supple, what I might be at risk for, etc.) Additionally, he doesn't just rush through the exam; whereas some optometrists try to get rid of their patients as soon as possible, Dr. Lee takes the time to get my prescription right. I was also impressed by the assistance I was given in picking out frames. I hate it when people try to up-sell me a product just to make a profit, but the staff here gave me honest opinions about each frame. Apparently, Raybans are more expensive but tend to break more easily than Sho glasses, which are cheaper but of better make. They also give good feedback on the stylistic aspects of the frame, and are not afraid to tell you what looks good and what doesn't look good. To the reviewer who called the doctor a "cheapskate"... how does that even work?? Telling you they will last longer than advertised by the company helps YOU as the patient. It means that he's trying to help YOU save money, because if you want more contacts it has to come out of YOUR pocket. Really nice guy, so I hate to write a bad review, but I would not go here... Dr. Lee is very nice, but also incredibly talkative, to the point that it's hard to think. He was talking so much and moving so fast that I really didn't have time to truly decide if "1 or 2 was better" and when I tried to take a bit longer to decide he would just move on and say "that's okay, try this instead." It was just going so fast and yet I was in the office for over an hour and a half. Just constant talking. And he immediately worked on getting me glasses and I told him I didn't like any that he had and that I was going to shop around and he instead took my glasses and ordered the exact same ones online. He used my insurance so it didn't cost anything, but he apparently called the wrong number so I didn't get the glasses for months and I have no idea what prescription he gave me but they are way too strong and hurt my eyes. He talks way too much and way too fast and the conversation rarely even concerns eyesight. I have no idea what prescription he gave me - he just told me that my eyes haven't changed much from the last prescription I showed him. I would not go back. read more

Dr.Erny lee is great! He does talk quick and is talkative but he is very informative with questions and explanations. He is an older man. Came in for a contact fitting and prescription. Took my glasses off my face himself and put the contacts in my eyes himself which I thought was sweet. My prescription was wrong so I came back the next day I was available and he took me in immediately , and the prescription was much better! Might make him my new doctor. read more

man, don't this guy just shut up? just the others said, this guy is a talker and i mean talker. all about nothing. i had an appointment for 6pm and wasn't finish until 7:30, but he did take me in on the same day. the bad things are that he does personally put the contact into your eyes himself by prying open your eyes and sticking them in. he constiently talks. he gives me two week contacts and tells me that they should last well over a month (cheapskate). he constiently talks. he inputs all your information into his computer while about 2 inches from the screen. did i mention he talks a lot? good things are he works weekends and takes you in quickly. ***just put some earplugs in and nod continiously.*** read more

Very unsatisfied with the customer service. The receptionist who is also the Doctors wife was extremely rude. I had an issue with my glasses. Dr.Lee gave me a price but when I came to pick them up, it was way more. Not only that but it took an entire month for my glasses to come in. They said they would call as soon as they arrived but they did not, I had to keep calling daily, myself. They do not care about their customers, like the lady said, ITS BUSINESS. Dr. Lee will take time to get it right and if the glasses are not perfect he takes time to either sent them back or readjust them. He is there to please his patients. Knows more about lenses then most plus has some techniques from others where you can try to see if the lens going to work before he even orders them...if you need special help due to some medical eye problems. This is my first visit with Doctor Lee. I called his office thinking I would have to wait weeks for an appointment, but he saw me that same afternoon. He is wonderful and I consider myself lucky to have found him. He even showed me a pair of glasses frames he said would fit nicely on my face and complement my nose. This is something I would never thought of because I've always worn large, heavy glasses that do nothing to accentuate my features. He is extremely patient and kind.
