I've been going to this Eye Doctor for many years. I love how they have the newest and greatest glasses. Normally the customer service is really good but lately it's fallen off. I had a surgery lost vision in my left eye and so I was calling to make appointments to find out what I need to do and it's almost like you get attitude. I've seen him be that way to other people, but I've been with them for a long time and this may at least 6 years . I hope their customer service gets much better or I will have to find a different doctor. read more

Dr. Joyce and the ladies who order the glasses are very nice and professional but most of the ladies that run the front desk are just plain mean and rude both in person and over the phone. I know there have been complaints about this issue over the many years so they either haven't retrained these ladies on how to provide good customer service or they haven't replaced them with new employees yet. read more

Came in for an appointment the office requires masks inside but the front desk lady wasn't even wearing one. And she finally put on her mask but wasn't wearing it properly. She was on her personal phone talking to someone in Spanish instead of acknowledging the patient/ customer first. I had few questions about my insurance coverage but she answer very little and making me feel like I should know everything. Very very very poor customer service. I can't remember her name but she is Latina/Hispanic. I feel sorry for DR. Joyce for having a mean and under trained staff. Because he is such a good eye doctor. I didn't have a choice but to go here because my insurance VSP assigned me to this eye clinic. Now I have to go back because I feel rushed by the staff and it's time consuming. read more

The optometrist has his days. I've been to this location twice. The first time was last year and he took his time to check my eyes to make sure I had the right prescription strength. This 2nd visit I came in on a weekday when it didn't seem busy but i felt he was rushing through. Any points that the doctor gained for the review of this establishment are sadly deducted by the experience you receive from the front desk attendant. When you approach her, she meets you with all the warmth of a greeting you can expect at the DMV or social security office. On both of my visits, the front desk lady was unnecessarily rude. I approached the desk to check in and she snapped "ok, sit over there." When I asked questions about my insurance, she answered in a condescending tone as if I should have known the answers to my own questions. The kind of tone that makes you ashamed for even asking. I felt like I was back in the 4th grade and I was getting grilled for not studying. I just started reading the reviews before posting my own, so I see that this woman is gaining quite the reputation! read more

What a horrible experience at this place! My first bad impression was the rude staff members. Then came the, so called, eye exam for new glasses. The exam it lasted about 2 minutes. The doctor seemed to be switching back and forth to the same lenses, over and over, then told me I didn't need glasses. I felt lied to and the exam was rushed. I've been wearing glasses for over 15 years, I am a senior. I went there because my old glasses were no longer working well...out of focus. As soon as, I got home I reported this incident to my insurance company and scheduled an appointment with another business in Vacaville which treatment me with respect and gave me a full 30 minute exam. The Dr was amazing! Couldn't find another more passionate dr. He was very kind and explained everything. The front desk staff, however, was the WORST customer service I've ever seen. Not just to me but others walking in. The Hispanic woman up front spoke as if you were bothering them when you asked questions because you were interrupting their conversations between the 4 of them, and they wanted you out of the way. Non smiling, Very condescending tone & to top it off I heard them talking bad about customers in spanish when the customers would leave. You would never guess i speak Spanish so i guess the felt comfortable. It's really unfortunate because the fr is great, but he can't only be as great as his front staff. If they can't do their job with the attitude that's required for CS, then they shouldn't be working in customer service. read more

I went back to see Dr Joyce yesterday and I left super happy so I'm updating my previous review. I love Dr Joyce, my previous appmt I saw his counterpart. Dr Joyce explains everything in layman terms, he explained why my glasses and contacts were too strong and he corrected my prescription FREE OF CHARGE! Margaret who was very rude on the phone was very helpful, she adjusted my glasses to give me a better fit. Like usual the other ladies in the office were nice. I am happy with the way the appmnt went. I went there with optimistic because I've been going there for years and didn't want to change my optometrist. I'm going to attribute my last visit as stress due to these unchartered times and everyone learning to adjust. read more

I have been wearing the same brand contacts for 15 years, yet this office found it necessary to give me a different brand despite me telling them that is not what I wanted. They also placed an order for these unwanted contacts. They better cancel it... They refused to give me my prescription in hand. This front desk lady Cathy with white hair is the rudest, meanest person I have ever dealt with. She has an attitude and she talks to me as if I am mentally challenged. I am going to try to get my corrected prescription from this office (it is illegal to not provide patients with their prescription and this is clearly what happened to me) and have them cancel the order they placed for me. Been seeing Dr Joyce for about four years now. I have an extreme eye phobia and he is excellent and extremely patient. No puff of air in the eye!!! Not to mention he is always on time. I have been going here for years. But this last visit was the last at this location for me. I was told my glasses were ready but i had to schedule an appointment to pick them up.... Just to pick them up just tp pick them up very inconvient. Furthermore I asked for glasses with Poly lenses, anti glare, and transition during my appointment and even had a conversation about how i needed transition very badly. I got everything other than transition and when i pointed this out to them they said i didn't add that to the glasses and it would be 75 dollars more. Not going here anymore. I paid 188 dollars(after my works frame allowance) and its not even everything i asked for. Very upset. read more

I know several people who go here for their yearly eye exams but I myself have only visited the front area a few times, while I've waited for said people to finish up. I have had the opportunity to watch how the staff works with customers as the walk in the door and after seeing just how thorough and attentive they are I am quite shocked to find that there are no reviews for this business on yelp! Almost everyone who comes in ends up in a 1-1 session, with one of the ladies behind the front counter, to discuss various frame models and other such things. These women either have a great sense of style or are simply great at relating to the customer because I haven't seen anyone leave disappointed. In fact I have seen people get giddy with excitement when they were choosing their frames or picking up their glasses, but I guess 'being able to see again' can do that to a person. Moreover it seems that they make a good effort to keep all their frames up to date with the latest trends. Often times I see that the displays have changed but then again I only come here about once a year so that is to be expected. Lastly there is a great thai place just two or three doors down from this shop, so you might as well hit that up after your exam if you have nothing better to do. read more

I saw Dr Joyce about a year ago for the first time and he was thorough and very professional. I was really impressed with Rosanna who helped me pick out frames. She was honest and told me when a frame didn't fit my face and she directed me to frames that complimented my face shape, eye color, etc. Honestly, it was like having a personal shopper helping me...she spent a lot of time with me. Almost a year later my glasses broke and I brought them in to see if they could be repaired. To my surprise and delight Rosanna (who remembered me and my glasses) told me I could pick out a new pair because they were still under warranty and mine were discontinued. They also replaced the lenses which had a minor scratch. So, again Rosanna took her time helping me find a great frame. Rosanna is wonderful - a major asset to a great optometrist office. read more

This eye clinic tries to upsell you things you dont need. I was asked to buy bifocal glasses when i didnt need them.. I was told it was just a procedure to ask me? The staff are clueless as to the procedures required to get your glasses. I was told 2 weeks or less at my eye exam and when 2 weeks came around I called and was told it would be 4 to 6 weeks to get my glasses after being given the run around by the staff I ask to speak to Dr.joyce who was not available. Hours later I started getting calls every 15 minutes from dr joyce. When i finally talked to him he denied his staff told me 2 weeks and then hung up on me when I proved he was lying. He will lie for his staff and has no accountability or integrity. He refused to give me my perscription that I needed for school work having really bad eye site this made things very difficult and was completely unprofessional service by him and his staff. read more

GREAT DOCTOR! Super nice and genuine. You can tell he loves what he does. However, I was not impressed by who I believe is the optician. My PD was taken a few times and now I see why. When I picked my glasses up and tried them on I felt dizzy and it looked super magnified. I asked her and she said I probably needed time to adjust. Well I didn't adjust so I really think the PD was measured incorrect. I don't wear those glasses because it's useless. read more

Let me start by saying that Dr. Joyce has been fantastic! He's kind and funny and explains your eye issues/care very well. However, his staff is terrible. Specifically, the ladies at the front desk. I have been coming to Dr. Joyce for several years. Everytime I would walk through the door the person at the front desk would just stare at me, no greeting or questions. I would feel so awkward that I would greet them when I walk in, then get no response. One day I arrived early, checked in and started looking around at all the frames. The lady at the front desk watching me and eventually said, "Your insurance doesn't cover any of those frames." She then directed me to the frames covered by Medi-Cal. I was aware that my insurance didn't cover all frames. I was just LOOKING. Thank you for letting everyone in the office know I was poor. There was another time I asked about Rx sunglasses and was told that my insurance didn't cover them. I said, "okay. May I have my Rx anr papillary distance so that I can order cheap ones online?" I was told by someone ayyyyy the front that they don't give out that information. I ended up getting my measurements from JC Penney for free! Although I really liked Dr. Joyce, I will not be returning to his office. I now have great insurance but I will be taking my business elsewhere. His staff needs better customer service training. I know several people who are patients of his and the feel the same about his staff. read more

Went to this office last year and the girl at the counter was rude, as well as the office manager. I had a new prescription and was told by this rude girl that I can only get new glasses every two years via insurance. I tried to explain to her the circumstances that allow me an exemption and she said I was wrong, that I can speak to the office manager. She also told me I was wrong! I contacted my insurance and explained the situation and they called this office to give them an authorization number and they refused it saying I can only get new glasses every two years! A supervisor then called them and finally set the record straight that I get an eye exam EVERY YEAR because of a medical condition and that I can get new glasses as needed every year. They finally accepted the authorization and I got my new glasses. Went back yesterday, December 26, 2017, a year later than the first fiasco, had the same girl at the counter and got the same reaction from last year, then the same office manager and the same reaction. I reminded them of this very same fiasco a year prior to no avail. Instead of listening to me and verifying what I was telling them, they blew me off once again. I told the office manager on my way out I will go elsewhere and never come back to the store again, that they are pretty stupid in not listening and I find it hard to believe they can stay in business treating their clients as they treated me. She said, "Good luck." I will be sending a printed copy of this review along with a letter from my insurance pointing out they made an error. Just can't fix stupid and will let family and friends know to avoid this store and will be filing a formal complaint that this store has once again delayed my prescription.... They don't even rate the one star rating, but that is the lowest mark... read more

The staff is friendly and helps you pick out frames for your face shape. I recently got contacts and one of the girls was very patient as she taught me how to insert and remove the contact lenses. A glasses wearer for 34 years, I had my first appointment here this year and loved them instantly. Smooth, quick, but an efficient, fun, and lively team of folks. NO pressure, but very good at helping me with some best choices for my face, skin color, and value for the benefits I had available. The lady helping me with a stylish but fitting choice of glasses helped me like Gipetto helped Pinocchio, and as such that is what I called her every time I picked up an incorrect for me kind of specs. I took my 8 year old to see him for the first time today, and I couldn't have been happier with the experience. 'First class' professionals can be hard to find in Solano County, but he is one.
