Ate here today by myself on a warm afternoon after work as a substitute paraprofessional at P.S. 234 Q. I had brought, ordered and ate the one of the lunch specials which is pork chop over roast pork rice with flat plantains and a side of black beans, shirley temple and flan for dessert (to go) that it tasted really good and delicious that it's Chinese Spanish cuisine. The service there was also attentive and friendly and many thanks to my server Daniel for making me feel welcome. I couldn't agree more about it. Finally, I would definitely eat and come back again next time! :)

Formerly known as Nuevo Jardin de China; under new management. According to our super helpful and friendly waiter, Jose, for (I believe he said) the last year or so. Having lived in this neighborhood for a good part of my life, I went to Nuevo Jardin a handful of time and, I guess, I never paid attention to their sign and always thought they were a "Chinese Dominican" restaurant as opposed to it being "Chinese Cuban". The layout of the establishment did not change much, to my recollection. Their food is pretty much as I remember it too. A unique sort of Asian fusion. Having lived in a Latin country myself, I can say this is very reminiscent of what Chinese food is in South America. I was very happy they still serve Oxtail stew! 100% disclosure... it is NOT the best Ox tail I have ever had... but, I like it for what it is. It's "quick lunch", nothing fancy, "just the basics" type of food IMO. Ox tail stew in a proper Cuban restaurant does not taste the same (not saying this is better, just different). As additional info., they serve "family style". Each dish you order is mean to be shared with your party and comes with your choice of rice or plantains.

Best Chinese food outside of Chinatown! The tasty food is definitely the star but the friendly staff and comfortable booths make it fun place to be. Full Chinese menu and Spanish/Latin menu - both cuisines done to perfection. Great place to go even for cocktails and appetizers. The higher prices get you better quality food, generous portions and all the extras. Can we talk lobsters? Happens to be my favorite and their live lobster tank is a great feature. I am a purist and prefer it steamed with just a squeeze of lemon. They do offer many tempting combinations to choose from. Worth mentioning that I no longer struggle cooking lobster at home when entertaining - I call Nueva and have them steamed or broiled and delivered. First class in all areas. It is the perfect way to start the week or enjoy a mid-week treat and let's not forget the weekends!! Cheers to the best restaurant in Astoria!!

The table next to us turned over quickly. The Shishito margarita was excellent. I could not believe how clearly the flavor came through. Server guided us well to the right number of plates none of which disappointed, and even saw we needed more bread for the leftover sauces, as well as guiding me to an excellent Manzanilla Sherry. They are a tapas style restaurant so recommendation is getting about 2-3 dishes per person to share. The place itself is pretty vibey with dim lighting. We did see some big groups in there so I think it's pretty good for groups and for dates as well. We were not super hungry so we decided to get three dishes and one dessert to share. -Ahi Tuna Canario: This was just alright, a little on the sour side due to the sauces they used. The tuna was pretty fresh and they had fresh avocado underneath. -Croquetas Setas: Mushroom croquetes - this was also just alright, comes with three pieces. Very fried and crispy. -Chicken Wings: This was pretty decently, the flavors were good but nothing too special -Turron: This dessert was so good - highly recommend. It was the best item we had tonight, the cake was so good and the ice cream went so well with the cake. Overall - I think that there are other better restaurants in the area but they do have a lot of other tapas that we did not try.

Though they didn't serve the sprite-infused red wines I enjoyed in Spain, they did serve white sangrias, which were light, sweet, and very enjoyable. The toasted bread with tomatoes was bright and summery. The grilled asparagus was cooked wonderfully al dente, with a char that added a nice smoky flavor against the clean taste of the drizzled olive oil. The beef skewers were well seasoned and fatty. While the food was Spanish, the prices certainly were not! It was a tad pricey. There wasn't anything below $13 for their small bites. Nonetheless, the food was good, the service prompt, and the outdoor vibes quite lovely. I would go there again.

Regardless of the hot weather, I decided on a table outside. Each bite of the tapas was delightful for what it was and I ended up ordering an extra tapa because I couldn't make up my mind. I chose the shrimp in garlic sauce (oil) that I sopped up with the accompanied bread, the dates wrapped in bacon (they do their own twist by filling it with honey ricotta stuffing and finishing it with a red wine reduction), I also went with cod fish croquettes (the perfect crispness on the outside and a delectable creamy texture of fish inside), I can never pass up the patatas bravas, so, I got those too. I had a glass of a beautiful, crisp, white Chardonnay off the menu from Spain. Definitely a must try if you are looking for a quick meal for one. A wonderful experience overall, friendly staff and delightful colors that add to the outside atmosphere. Stoop and the city is also on the same block which is a plus

We decided to share a few sandwiches - the Black Angus Burger with fries and the Crispy Chicken Sandwich with a side salad. I took my first bite of the burger and my eyes opened wide - what an incredible flavor! The first thing you notice is the rich flavor of the angus beef - it's unique! The meat was tender and juicy - it had tomato and lettuce - I added only ketchup. It was one of the most delicious burgers I've had in some time. The French Fries were excellent with a great taste and fry! Next up the Crispy Chicken Sandwich. I was a little apprehensive when I saw the Ciabatta bun - having fried chicken on such a hard crusted, chewy bread. It wasn't the best choice for this sandwich. My partner and I both felt the chicken was 'hiding' behind the dressings - tomato, thick avocado and chipotle aioli - we opted out of the Applewood smoked bacon, which would have made the chicken more obscure. I opened the sandwich and took out a large piece of chicken to really 'taste it'. It had a great exterior crunch, was tender and juicy. It may have been flattened a little. It was a good sandwich, but if it had been on a brioche roll without the avocado, I believe it would have been more of a true crispy chicken sandwich. The little side salad we had was yummy with a very good balsamic vinaigrette. Overall, Bocado was a delightful lunch - the Black Angus Burger is a must!! I'll most definitely be back to enjoy it again!

There was always someone to fill our water or check in on us, and even dirty napkins were removed and replaced. Some of the best service I've ever experienced! As far as my gut issues go, I had no trouble with the dishes I eventually went with: the Burrata flatbread pizza and the Chocolate Salted Caramel Soufflé. Both were absolutely scrumptious. The ambience is classy and soothing, not too loud, even as they got busier later in the evening. Overall a perfect experiene. I will definitely be making Bocado my weekend go-to!

But after trying their cuisine, this restaurant became more than just a place to watch a mini concert, glass of wine in hand. My favorite dish here is their carbonara, and I dare say, it may be the best carbonara I've ever had. The pasta is wonderfully creamy with generous bits of guanciale. I mean, just look at this beauty - it's glistening! As though this dish weren't creamy enough, it's topped with a half cracked egg, the yolk a vibrant orange. The idea here is that you incorporate the yolk into the pasta while it's still warm. This is a French restaurant after all, so I will warn you that the service here is quite European. From my experience sitting at the bar, the server won't fuss over you as you dine, and if you needed anything, you would have to flag him down. It's not an issue to me. I don't like feeling rushed at dinner. Just looking at the marvel that is this carbonara is a reminder that I should book another reservation here soon.

Nicely appointed 3 stars for food. The AOC burger was ordered for Medium rare and came back medium. The French Onion Soup was recommended but my friend said it wasn't cheesy enough and the cheese seemed to get stuck to the bowl and not enough in the soup. The Brussels sprouts were rocking. The prosecco was delicious. But still a 3 star rating because we expected more in terms of flavor and getting the burger order right. I'd come back and order something different.

Their menu offers an array of dishes ranging from small bites to feast for the eyes and your belly. One dish or rather protein that is a focal point in their menu is chicken since they serve a lean cut of chicken breast or rotisserie chicken paired with rice and other sides. Do prepare your stomach to feast at this restaurant and your ears to listen to some lively music while dining. The servers are very sweet, attentive, and patient for first timer such as myself visiting this restaurant especially in this NYC heat. But I do speak Spanish and part of my family is from Colombia so it was a plus and flex for me since I got to connect more with them. Overall, this restaurant is ideal spot to dine at after visiting The Noguchi Museum. That's my personal recommendation since you get to feed the mind with art history then feed yourself with some delicious Colombian food.

The only…read morereason I return is because it's my grandmother's preferred restaurant since she lives nearby. We arrived around 6:20-6:30 p.m. There were plenty of open tables, but we weren't seated until much later. During that time, the male waiter seemed more concerned with other tasks. He was seating a woman whose party of six hadn't yet arrived, going back and forth to the kitchen, handing out receipts, and collecting menus. After all of that, he finally approached us--not to seat us--but to ask, "How long are you going to take?" I replied, "Sir, we're here to eat." He responded that the side tables were for people watching the game. I explained that we were there to dine, as this is a restaurant. Even after we were seated, he avoided our table completely. He took the order of a table that had been seated after us while we continued waiting. About 20 minutes later, a female waitress noticed we had not been helped and took over our table. She was attentive, professional, and the only reason we received service. After placing our order, we waited about an hour for our entrées. The food was also underwhelming. The Papa a la Huancaína came with an excessive amount of sauce and very few potatoes. The Ceviche Mixto lacked the bright citrus flavor that ceviche should have. My grandmother, who is very familiar with Peruvian cuisine, found it bland, and even after taking it home we couldn't improve it. The Bistec Encebollado was slightly too salty for our taste. The beans simply weren't to my liking, though that's a matter of personal preference. Another issue is the dining room layout. The seating is extremely tight, to the point where it feels like you're almost elbow-to-elbow with the tables next to you, making the experience feel cramped. Overall, this visit was disappointing. Between the slow and inattentive service, the long wait for food, the cramped seating, and several disappointing dishes, the experience did not justify the visit. The female waitress deserves recognition for stepping in when we had been overlooked, but unfortunately she couldn't make up for the rest of the experience.
