NU is right around the corner from my gym and I have stopped in twice this week to grab breakfast. The Good: I love that there's an option to have a bowl or a wrap, and both the chorizo bowl and spinach and feta bowl were good. Nothing mind blowing, but definitely something that I would order again. The servers didn't even bat an eye when I asked to sub out black beans for extra salsa in the chorizo bowl. Literally, something for everyone here. I can't speak to anything other than breakfast, food-wise, however I have friends who LOVE NU, and others that have said "meh, it's alright". Two thumbs up for breakfast. The Not So Good: Their iced coffee was a major let down. Maybe I just didn't get a good batch, but first thing in the morning you would think it would be the best it can be. It was very bitter. I came her with my friends 2 times and I tried the acai bowl the first time and pitaya bowl the second time. Both were great, but I loved the pitaya bowl better. The acai was too watery. Just more tiresome low effort vegan options that you can find at any one of these type of places. I don't know what is so difficult about this. There's nothing about veganism that discourages flavor in foods. And there's definitely nothing about veganism that mandates mushy sweet potatoes in a breakfast burrito. The vegan dishes are even named things you'd sarcastically come up with on your own. Wow a "Buddha bowl!" Didn't see that one coming. What's in it? The exact same ingredients as every other place in the city and the exact same ingredients as every other vegan dish on your menu? Stop. read more

The food here is so good and healthy. I always order before and call in my order so I can just pick it up and they're always super quick. Sadly I ordered a Short Rib sandwich and added avocado and when I got back home to eat... it wasn't there . I'm still going back. The foods great. [UPDATE] I really like the food here!! I've only ever gotten kickin' kale, but it's delicious! After being treated a bit rudely by staff there one evening, the owner reached out to apologize and provided my feedback to his employees to make sure it didn't happen again. The next time I went, the staff couldn't have been friendlier. The food is really fresh, and it's such a nice space to do work or meet up with friends! This is exactly how you get loyal customers: great food and great service! This was my first review: The food is really good here, and I was completely sold after my first visit! However, I've only been here twice and had a completely negative experience the second time. The cashier was rather curt to me (maybe it's because I ordered around 8 pm). My salad was still tasty, but my addition was not included and neither was one of the main ingredients, so I was left a bit disappointed. I'm seeing some negative reviews on here regarding the delivery/pickup service, and I can't speak to that, but when my wife and I came here to eat, we loved every second. We ordered the buffalo chicken kale wrap and the avocado chipotle lime bowl (can't remember the exact name), it was ready VERY quick, and it was DELICIOUS! We were in Medford for the weekend and my wife wanted something gluten free and a juice, so I ran to Yelp and came across Nu Cafe. It was only a 7-8 min drive from our hotel so I went the first morning we were there because they advertised gluten free muffins and fresh juices. I got there right at opening with one person ahead of me in line. They had one GF muffin and it was sweet potato and quinoa. They said it was good, but it was about how it sounds. The next day I went back and they had no GF muffins at all which was disappointing, but that was the negatives for this place. The Might Beats juice was rich and delicious. Exactly what the doctor ordered and she got it both days and enjoyed it both days. I got their organic coffee both days which was very nice as well. I also got the Portapesto Chorizo sandwich one day which was excellent and tasty and the Spanish Scramble the other day. While being a bit on the small side, both were very nice and enjoyable and probably the RIGHT size I needed. read more

I ordered at my job through Peach. I got the Turkey Bacon Avocado Wrap Box which included chips and a pickle. I assumed I would get a bag of chips, but they put open chips in a small box with the wrap and pickle. All of my chips are chewy and/or soggy. If you know that the chips are going to be delivered, what's wrong with a small $.50 bag of chips??? Or even put the chips in a separate plastic bag away from moisture? There's not much bacon in it. I've really wanted to like this place ever since moved in because it's right around the corner from me, it's a good place to work, and it's (seemingly) just the kind of food that I like. Healthy, natural-ish, indie. And I do think there food is probably good, but unfortunately I've mostly have bad experiences there because... They are generally bad at responding to my dietary restrictions and needs. Most places of this sort would be really good about substituting things, taking out ingredients, making adjustments, etc. But instead, most of the time they have either failed to take things out that they said they would, said they cannot make substitutions, or otherwise made me feel bad for even asking. It's really frustrating to not be able to eat anywhere because so many foods make me sick, and I just wish that a seemingly nice place like this would make a little effort to make themselves responsive to people who have these kinds of issues. read more

Holy crap. I just got the honey goat avocado sandwich (which has eggs, honey goat cheese, and avocado inside a ciabatta bun) and it was so smooth and creamy. Subtly sweet. It was small for the price but worth it. I wanted to work on stuff here, but the venue is relatively loud (pop/electronic music blaring). Came here today for lunch with my boyfriend excited to see a new healthy option open up in the area but left with very mixed feelings. The food is mediocre, some items are better than others. Tuscan soup was great but buffalo chicken wrap contained chickpeas that made it extremely dry. The pesto flatbread was unexciting. Belly bliss juice and cold brew coffee were both solid. The real issues with this place were not food related. We had a $40 gilt gc and there was some confusion on how to input it. Apparently, if you have a remaining balance, there's no way for them to give you any records of your balance.. When the owner (assumed as she was holding a schedule and the main chef) came over, her attitude was that of annoyance and distaste in having to deal with customers. In addition, the other issues: -It was not very busy, but we still waited 20 min for our food (and it looked like others did too) -All chairs and tables were haphazardly placed -Crumbs and leftover food all over the couch lining the wall -Tables were not wiped down after use -Open kitchen concept.. but the kitchen was extremely messy and unkept -Water all over floor from snow, so much in the front area that it looked like a small flood read more

I really wanted to like you Nu. But your flavors aren't there. Yes you may be healthy but you're either bland or really overdressed. Why would you call your wrap "buffalo chicken" if all you taste is the overpowering ginger dressing? Why would you ever put a cookie on your menu if you truly don't care to serve a decent cookie? My expectations are low but yours was so hard I think it almost took out a tooth. Tried you 3 times now via delivery but never again. I learned my lesson. This place is great. I stop by every morning to get my coffee on the way to work. I usually get hot coffee and Nu does it well. Iced is good too on super hot days. Sometimes get a late dinner on my way back from work too. So I've seen it all here. Throwing some shade, Bloc 11 down the street charges waaay more for food and beverages and is not nearly as good. Check out Nu instead next time. I've noticed that Nu kitchen has the same staff around which tells me they take care of employees and that is important to me as a customer. Happy employees make better food. If I were to suggest anything to my friends at Nu Kitchen. The food program is good but could be better. I can tell that they keep the food simple so it stays consistent, good move!... but sometimes it has a super prepared-food feeling to it which is a shame because I can tell care goes into the ingredients. Okay... so I had the honey goat avocado sammich. Y'all THAT IS EVERYTHING. It was dreary outside and we have a despotic government but it was sunny and love filled in my mouf. Seriously, the cook is hella cute too so if you wondering where all the cuties that can cook are -- I found one! Tell him I sent ya. ;) The layout is huge and conducive for an office space/study space. Didn't experience any microaggressions. The downside: no custom caffeinated beverages made but oh well, we can't have it all. Oh also, the way to get wifi is to check in on facebook. Sketchy practice. This is my favorite place to be on a Saturday morning! It's clean, modern, and has plenty of seating. The food options are all delicious. I recommend the chipotle avocado lime bowl, cacao cold brew, turkey pesto sandwich, and crispy Brussels sprouts. The place is slightly pricy, but you get what you pay for and the lighter fares on the snack menu are a steal. The avocado toast is actually reasonable at $3.50. My only complaint is that the staff can be slightly short with customers and slow. They're often in no hurry to get to your order. Nonetheless, I would come here everyday if I could. This is a really cute addition to the Union Square area! I drove by this place several times before finally visiting today. The owner came into my office with menus and $5 off coupons, so I felt like that was a sign to finally check it out. I ended up getting the Fresh Basil and Mozzarella panini, which was pretty good but not thrilling either. I got chips and a pickle for my side, but the chips got all soggy from being so close to the sandwich in the to-go box, which was gross. I don't really know how they could fix this, but definitely didn't make me want to get another to-go sandwich again. Also, if you pick this as your side, they put the pickle underneath your sandwich in the box. I didn't see it at first at thought I had gotten short changed! The bread the panini was on was kind of gross, so basically, I'm probably not going to get a panini here again. I still want to give them four stars because the customer service was pretty great, the space is really nice and they have a really diverse menu. They serve breakfast all day and they also serve alcohol. They have a great mini work bar with plugs where you can dock if you need to get some work done. This is a really fun place to stop in for a quick smoothie or sit down for a delicious and healthy lunch. The menu is huge and has lots of options for vegans, vegetarians and meat-eaters alike. There's also a good amount of gluten-free options like grain bowls, salads and smoothies. As someone with celiac disease, I really appreciate their attentiveness to allergies. GF bread for sandwiches or paninis. I love the sweet potato panini--they try hard to limit cross contamination and I appreciate it!
