    Banh Mi Bowl

I ordered from here via a catering service for lunch during the week and was very impressed! Because of this, I cannot speak the actual ambiance of the place but I can speak on the food, which was delicious. The portions are generous and the menu boasts many unique options to choose from. I would definitely order from here again.

Vegan chicken VEGAN Pesto Chicken Panini

While I am grateful they have vegan options, the items were had were not that great. I ordered the pesto vegan chicken panini, and it was ok but not anything I would want to eat again. I didn't like the texture or flavor of the faux chicken. There are a lot of takes of faux chicken, and this felt more like a chickpea patty. It was just strange. My husband had a salad with vegan chicken added, and it was very uninspired, consisting mostly of iceberg lettuce. All in all, the food was fine, but neither of us felt that the price tag matched the quality or taste.

Beware: There is a hidden charge that I only noticed because I happened to ask for a receipt.

I've been here twice and the food and people working have been great. However, the second time, I randomly asked for a receipt and noticed a hidden fee. There is a 3% "Admin Charge" secretly added to the order, and the only way this was even known is because I happened to request that receipt. I don't see anywhere that declares a charge (menu, website), and on top of all this, we're paying tax on that charge. This is shady and should be removed. Lack of transparency is not cool; either price things accordingly or declare charges so we can decide if we want to even come here.

We ordered brunch from NU Kitchen for take-out through GrubHub (love to see healthier options on the platform!), and I wouldn't hesitate to do so again or come in and stay a while, since the space looks really nice. As we were driving to pick up, I got a call from the staff saying they were out of 2 of the items we'd ordered, and they offered alternatives. Kindly, they allowed me to choose a drink at a higher price point with no extra charge. Great service! Pick-up was easy, as I just gave my name at the counter and they had my bag and drinks ready for me. In terms of food, we really enjoyed the Chipotle Avocado & Lime Bowl - it was filling and fresh with no meat in sight! We also liked the short rib torta, which is a breakfast sandwich with egg. Flavorful but a bit too much bread for my taste. For drinks, we got iced matcha and chai lattes with oat milk, and I preferred the chai. And the cinnamon scone was deeelish! Who NU?! NU Kitchen is great!

    Interior/Inside: Ordering Area

Overall, NU Kitchen offers a wide menu of items that will satisfy a broad range of preferences. We tried the Spanish scramble burrito and bowl, the super fruit waffle, and some drinks. The Spanish scramble burrito was better overall than the Spanish scramble bowl. The avocado refresher smoothie was also very good. Ambiance is also spacious and modern. All together, they offer some solid breakfast and lunch options with lots of vegetarian and vegan options. Check them out if you're in the area!

    Short Rib Torta

Menu is full of healthy, yet tasty options! NU Kitchen has a bunch of fresh smoothies, coffees, sandwiches, bowls and salads. But my favorite thing to get is the Acai bowl! Acai bowls here are legit and so good! I love how NU Kitchen is loaded with toppings so there is almost 1:1 ratio of topping to acai which never happens! I've tried the Oahu and Maui; both were good but I prefer the Oahu more. The cocoa nibs are bomb and plentiful. The acai is also creamy from the oat milk! Short rib torta was delicious. The short rib is super tender with great flavor, crunch from the light crunch of the bread, and slight heat from the peppers. The egg and avocado are a nice extra touch that goes together so well. Short Rib banh mi was an interesting take on banh mi, but quite pricey for the size and compared to a traditional banh mi. Prefer the torta more.

Chipotle Avocado & Lime Bowl with salmon!

I discovered NU kitchen through yelp and have been going back ever since. I LOVE the avocado chipotle lime bowl. I love it so much that I never order anything else... I usually add salmon or eat it without a protein. It's roughly 9 or 10 for the bowl and the salmon brings it to about $15 with tax. The salmon is slow cooked so it's super soft and delicious. It's not usually crowded so it's a nice place to meet friends to catch up. No stress on having to leave!

The food is good. Not so much a "knock your socks off" place. Chorizo is a little dry. Love the menu though - this is perfect for this area being a healthy/fresh place. Dirty tables, iced tea/drinks came out very late way after the food came out, difficult to find parking along this busy road. I'm only giving it 4 stars because of it's potential. All these caveats can be easily managed to make this place amazing.

Got there at 11:55 and they didnt even have my order. DONT ORDER AHEAD OF TIME ONLINE!

Ask the Community - NU Kitchen

    Is it dog friendly?

They have outdoor seating during the summer. My friend brings her dog and sits outside, no issue. No dogs allowed inside.

Is street parking hard to find?

Depends on the day and time, but it’s not too bad. If there’s not parking open directly in front of the cafe there is usually some in front of the police station diagonally across the street. :)

Do they have nut free granola?

Sorry for the super late response, I do not know if they have nut free granola.

They had a great variety available and we all were able to enjoy two drinks before they closed. My wife enjoyed two blood orange margaritas and I had a grey tea old fashioned and a take on an espresso martini that featured an addition of Guinness in it. All of the cocktails were well made with friendly service from the bartender. Due to stopping in for late night drinks I cannot speak to the food. It felt like history the moment we walked in: cozy, warmly lit, with worn wood that's clearly seen centuries. Our server, Cookie, was a gem- he was pleasant and attentive without hovering. Food-wise, it was mostly a miss. The oysters (which we found out were from NY ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ) were puny. My kid's clam chowder- that's made without bacon was too thick and floury. The fried calamari, though, had a standout tangy, spicy glaze that we loved- but the coating was on the thick side. The vibe is nice as was the service- just wished the food was better.

My server convinced me to get the spicy clam, and it was devoured so fast. It was gone before he filled my water! Packed with clam meat, drowning in tomato sauce, and it actually had heat --not that "we waved a chili at it" kind of spicy. I fully intended to have some for the next day and then aggressively did not. Final verdict: cozy vibes, bold flavors, zero self-control, and I will absolutely be back.

Huge shoutout to Eduardo, the manager, who went above and beyond to make our sisters holiday outing feel special and intentional, and to our server Paulina, who was attentive, warm, and truly wanted everything to be perfect. And it was. Let's talk ambiance first because whew. Chic. Stylish. Aesthetic on aesthetic. Even the walk to the bathroom felt curated. Ladies... the mirror alone deserves a moment. Full body selfie approved. Now the drinks. The mocktail I had was SO good. Balanced, flavorful, refreshing. I like a mocktail that has flavor and layers without being super sweet. The apps thoughhhhhh! They deserve their own paragraph because baby... The crab rangoon was TO DIE FOR. That old school wrap dough situation? I have been hunting for that exact texture and flavor forever. My fave restaurant switched dough and I haven't had a good Rangoon since then until now. It was crispy, nostalgic, and perfect. The fried egg rolls? Delicious. The pickled cucumbers? Bright and refreshing and er literally ate every drop, lol. But the WINNER... those fall off the bone ribs. I might have made a sound when I bit into them. Cooked to perfection. A full blown flavor party in my mouth. The scallion pancakes were the only thing that did not hit for me. The dough was thicker and heavier than I prefer. I love mine light and airy like traditional scallion pancakes. If they leaned that way I would have been obsessed. Our main courses... baybeeee The Dan Dan noodles... I did not even get a bite. I went to ask my sister for a taste and they were GONE. All of them. That says everything. My other sister loved the dumplings and even more that they fried them for her instead of serving them traditionally. And the sauce with those dumplings... Let me tell you about the sauce. I am OBSESSED. I took some home and Eduardo generously gave me more to take. That is top tier service and an at home sauce party, lol. My fried house rice was excellent. The mix of veggies and flavors was perfection. With everything else we ordered I could not even finish it. And then... dessert. Eduardo and Paulina surprised us with a complimentary cheesecake that was so light and decadent, topped with fruit and homemade whipped cream. Next time I am absolutely saving space for that. The customer service was truly top tier. The decor, the food, the staff, the background music. Everything PERFECT. My sisters and I sat for hours. We laughed. We ate. We shared emotions. We were present. That alone tells you how comfortable and welcoming this space is. I would go back today. I cannot wait to bring my husband and some of my fellow foodies.
