Great spot for brunch. Winning dishes that I would totally come back to order: -K-deli Sando for brunch: it's a messy little burger, with egg yolk bursting out the sides. But like a good New York deli sandwich, that's how it should be. The sausage they make is really well seasoned and the special sauce is incredible. Possibly the best sandwich I've had this month. -Honey garlic butter tots: the top tots have the savoriness and once you get to the bottom, you get a heavy dose of the sweetness from the honey. It's nice to end the meal with after a lot of savoriness from the entrees. The lychee martini was lovely. Sometimes, lychee cocktails border on being way too sweet but not the one here. Would certainly return. read more

The place is so unique and good for happy hour. We were looking for place to drink before going to see a show and came across this place. So we decided to have some cocktails and appetizers. Cocktails: Monkberry Moon Delight and Crazy Rich Azn. The monkberry was delicious, it would remind you of pisco sour and for the crazy rich azn was on the lighter side/refreshing. Appetizers: Marinated winter Cukes and extraordinary tots as recommended by them. Those appetizers were great with drinks. I will definitely come back for dinner to try more! read more

I was stuck between giving this place 3.5 stars or 4 and decided to round it up. I believe they still need to work on the service and their pizza making. Went to get seated, and the host wasn't around, so we had to wait around for a bit. Also, when seated, no water was given to us. Had to wait to get that. No one came around to check in with us. Once we were ready to order, no one came around until much later. I didn't even know who our server was, so once someone came around, I said, "Do you know who is out waiter?" The waitress said it was her. Finally! Anyways, once we put in our order, the food came out relatively fast. Also ordered a non alcoholic drink called K-pop punch, which was so good. Ordered the chopped cheese rice cakes, which there was a slight kick to since there was jalapeño inside. I like a bit of spice. For my entree, I got the Bushwick Buldack pizza. I didn't particularly like the pizza as the texture of the dough wasn't great. There's some room for improvement, especially with the sauce to bread ratio. Tried the legendary cheeseburger, which was yummy. I would get that again as the ratio of everything was perfect. Overall, I hope that they can workout all of their kinks. read more

Drinks are good, food was overrated. TL;DR I was so excited to try this place. I saw some tik toks and I wanted to try fusion Korean American food in the neighborhood. Decided to come on a Friday night which was my first mistake. Got here at 7pm and asked how long the wait was. The hostess said about 40 minutes and to make sure I was nearby because they wouldn't hold it. She suggested to stay at the bar for a drink so I could get seated right away. We decided to leave and came back 35 minutes later. Was told that they still had a little wait so we got drinks. After an 1.5 hour wait, we decided to just order take out cause I really wanted to try the food. Honestly, I should have just left then. After I ordered, the hostess said she'd expedite my order since I was waiting so long, but still waited long time for my order. When I finally got my order and tried the food, I was underwhelmed. We ordered the soy garlic fried chicken, Bushwick Buldak pizza, the chicken sandwich, the legendary burger & whipped ricotta toast. Everything was just fine. The burger and chicken sandwich were just okay. The soy garlic chicken were boneless and just fine. The Korean pizza was good, but nothing to write home about. The whipped ricotta was probably the best, but very small portions. Honestly, I feel like I should have just ordered from Abe's Pagoda. Wait less time and had a better Friday night dinner for less. Now that's a burger and chicken sandwich to write home about. I did give 2 stars because the bartender was great. We ordered some drinks (frap star, crazy rich Asian and sparking rose) when we waited the first hour and he was super nice and even gave the rosé for free. He also checked in on us after a while and said he would check on our order. Regardless of the wait, the food wasn't worth the hype. I won't return. read more

I've been to the Nowon East Village location and it's great, but this Bushwick location is way better in my opinion. First of all, there is just more space so inside dining doesn't feel super cramped like in the East Village location. Nowon has done a phenomal job with branding and design, which has helped them stand out from other Korean fusion restaurants in NYC. I love their tiger drawings and posters especially on the menu and around in the restaurant. My friend and I ordered the Whipped Ricotta Toast and the Buldak Chicken Pizza. I was particularly interested in trying the pizza since I've been into Korean inspired pizza flavors lately, and Nowon's pizza definitely does not disappoint. Whoever created the Buldak Chicken Pizza needs a raise because the combination of flavors and textures in that pizza is insane. The thin crust, basil, rice cakes, and buldak all work so well together and it's so delicious!!! Like I need the recipe. The Whipped Ricotta Toast is good too, but overpriced in my opinion. Still worth a try though! The chili oil and whipped ricotta strangely taste really good together and I would totally try to make a toast like this at home. At the end, they gave us a free burger gummy and a coupon for free dessert next time, which I thought was a sweet gesture. I will definitely be back for the Buldak Chicken pizza!! And perhaps try some other flavors too haha. read more

Truly impressed by this spot! My initial thoughts were please don't be another food spot that only looks good on social media. And thankfully, it lives up to the hype. The spot is decorated exactly how I'd picture a restaurant in Bushwick to be. I'm saying that in a very non-judgmental and good way. Lol. It's grunge and chic at the same time. I went with a friend, on a Monday night, who is a vegetarian and our server was so attentive to that detail and made sure we ordered dishes that were vegetarian-friendly. Forgot their name but she was awesome!! Kudos to her. Also, Monday nights seem like a really good time to go. There was absolutely no wait time to be seated. We ordered the lil kale salad to start. That creamy miso dressing was OUT OF THIS WORLD. I need that recipe or something similar for my at-home salads to make me eat the whole thing. Lol. Then, we had the whipped ricotta toast. I thought it was an unusual way to serve bread but I figured why not just give it a try..... dude. What!? That toast was legit. The citrus jam and chili oil = flavor explosion. Lastly, we had the kinda Korean margherita pizza. Just YES. The mix of gochujang sauce with regular marinara sauce. Whoa... genius!!!! If that's not a really good pizza, idk what is. Dessert really took me for a surprise. And I haven't been shook in awhile. Their black sesame crème brûlée... I'm making a big deal out of it on my social media because I've never had a non-traditionally flavored crème brûlée before. I never thought those flavors were going to work but it did. It worked hard to impress a person's taste buds. Overall, I was super impressed by this spot and will be returning to try their dishes with meat!!!! I also had a cocktail there that isn't on their online menu so I can't tell you the name of it. I can only show you a picture in this review. That drink was strong and a perfect match to everything that I ate. If I can recall correctly, it had mezcal and yuzu in it. I really wanted to try their mocktails which is exactly what I'll be going for next time since I'm in my mocktail era. Please go here and have a really good time with experiencing all these flavors!!!! read more

I visited Nowon last week with my bestie as this place was on her list to try. I ordered the mulled wine and it was a delightful surprise, and at only $5, it was a steal! Unfortunately, the smoked mozzarella sticks fell flat and weren't anything to write home about--I wouldn't order them again. However the burger was the best. I usually wouldn't finish a burger in one seating but this one was too good not too. Our waitress was pleasant and attentive. The only downside was the loud music, it was a too loud to hold a conversation. I'd definitely come back to explore more of the menu, especially the apps, drinks, and pizza. read more

Came for the first time to try the The Legendary Burger because I've heard all the buzz. Made reservations, at first when we got there they seemed empty, but it filled up fast! Nice atmosphere, fun lighting, cool artwork and a disco ball make it a fun place to hang. Started with the lychee keen cocktail, put in the ordered right before happy hour ended at 7pm. After that we tried the seasonal honeydew soju carafe, Very nice and refreshing for summer. So onto the important stuff, the honey tots were excellent and the burger was perfect! Everything about this burger was right, the bun, cheesy, not greasy, and a little kick of spice, what could be better than that? Can't wait to go again, next time I want to try one of the tasting menus! read more

Service was excellent! I wish we came on a night when there was live music, but may have been for the best as the inside was quite hot for me. Nowon has an interesting take on Korean cuisine, and if it helps convince people to enjoy Korean, I'm all for it. For those who go into the experience knowing and loving Korean food, this place may not hit the mark. We ordered the legendary burger, the cheesy rice cakes (ttekboki) and the honey tots. My favorite dish was the rice cakes, but it doesn't compare to the OG Korean style spicy ones. I didn't get the appeal of the burger and thought the tots could use some more sauce, sauce of any kid. Overall, I wanted to love this place, but it may be best left for a pre-dinner cocktail. read more

Nowon Bushwick - Korean Near Me - Brooklyn, New York

I came here with my friend on a Tuesday night for dinner around 7:45pm. I thought the inside of the restaurant was very hip (on brand for Bushwick). We split the Bushwick Buldak pizza (chicken, rice cakes, mozzarella, and cilantro) and the kale salad (chicory, pickled daikon, candied walnuts, ginger sesame dressing). Both were very good. The pizza was the perfect size for us to share. Unfortunately, service wasn't great on the night we were here. All the staff were very nice and apologetic, but it took a long time for us to order, get our food, and pay our bill. That being said, I would definitely come back and give Nowon another chance. read more

My partner and I were so excited that one of our favorite east village spots was opening a location in bushwick, and ended up coming to the bushwick location last night! We chose to get one of our favorites (the chopped cheese rice rolls) and then try one of the pizzas since they do not have pizza at the other location. All in all, it was a tasty meal, but I do prefer the rice cakes at the other location, and while the pizza was a fun change of pace, I prefer their burger. We got their unfiltered rice beer in the mango flavor - definitely recommend it! Service was friendly and quick, and there are a lot more tables at this location, which was a major plus in helping us get a spot at 8pm on a Friday! read more

Really great and unique food in Bushwick! The service was quick and nice. The inside of this restaurant is beautiful and there is lots of seating. I got the chicken and waffle for brunch and the waffles were lacking flavor, but I loved the chicken and the syrup it came with. The pizza here is also really good, super thin and a little spicy! I also enjoyed the yuzu cocktail on the brunch menu. I would totally recommend checking this place out, they have so many unique menu items. read more

Korean gastropub offering inventive fusion dishes in a dark, club-like ambience. Their main draw seems to be the $49 tasting menu, which requires full table participation. Unfortunately, they do not make any modifications for dietary restrictions, so if you're eating with vegetarians, the tasting menu is not an option. I came here with 2 friends and ordered a variety of vegetarian shareable dishes. Stand outs were the Whipped Ricotta Toast with citrus jam and roasted chili oil, Smoked Mozz Sticks with gochujang/tomato sauce, and the wood fired "Kinda Korean Margherita" pizza, which had the same sauce. Excellent cocktails and dessert. I would go out of my way to eat their "Warm Sweet Potato Pie" again, which tasted of caramelized brown butter, with a nilla wafer crust, and scratch-made toasted marshmallow meringue topping. I also loved my "Wutang Cowboy" cocktail, a uniquely savory stir of pumpkin bourbon, KBBQ maple, and tobacco bitters. The Marinated Cukes, Vegan Shroom Noods, and Curry Tots were all tasty, but dishes anyone could easily throw together at home. read more

Those guys know what they are doing and they will continue to expend their Nowon empire. They took Faro (previously fantastic pasta space) and kept the space but made it clubby and more fun . The food is fantastic and even the pricey fried chicken worth the $$$ cause it's that good . The pizzas are personal (I had the Burrata) it's a dough which is in between the thin crust and the normal and it's just right but yet again the size is for one ,still delicious! Excellent ,surprising, soju pomegranate passion fruit cocktail (and I am not a cocktail person....:) that match refreshingly this excellent food . Great service . Highly recommended!!!!! Definitely a Destination!!!!! read more

A friend and I came in on a Thursday with a reservation. The restaurant was filling up quickly, so I would recommend a res. The space is nice inside, and they offer some limited outdoor seating in the front. Our service was friendly and quick! We split The E.P., a shared five course menu. The menu included their Lil Baby Kale Salad, Nowon Spicy Gochujang Fried Chicken, Chopped Cheese Rice Cakes, Honey Garlic Butter Tots, and a (shared) Legendary Burger. This gave us a nice variety to try and we were completely stuffed and unable to finish. Everything had a nice presentation and was cooked well. The salad had candied walnuts and their sweet pop was great. The fried chicken was juicy and tender, but it wasn't spicy. The chopped cheese rice cakes were pillowy and such a unique take! The honey butter tots were killer, but definitely heavy! By the time we got to the burger, we could only have a bite or two, but it was juicy and well cooked and had great flavor. We also had their lychee keen and open sesame cocktails, both were delicious and well balanced. Definitely stop by! read more

Nowon Bushwick - fried chicken, tots, rice cakes, and the burger - Korean Near Me - Brooklyn, New York

90s hip-hop is the vibe at Nowon, with delicious Korean American food. Specialties include the chopped cheese rice cakes, the legendary burger (kimchi sets this off) and their fried chicken. The Bushwick location boasts woodfired pizzas whith Korean flare, try the Master P if you like or the K-town Smokeshow for a nod to BBQ flavors. It can get loud and service can be discombobulated at times when it gets busy but overall a great place to eat when you want a less conventional dinner setting. read more

This place would make a great birthday spot. It's not too big but they have music videos being projected above the open kitchen, and you could probably ask to bring your own music. Anyways, I digress. The menu is Asian fusion. I specifically came for the cheeseburger which features kimchi in it - and it was so buttery and good. Overall, this place does a good job on Asian fusion. The chopped cheese rice cakes tasted like hamburger helper with rice cakes (which is surprisingly a good mix) the broccolini was seasoned well, the honey tater tots are to die for, and the burger was seasoned very well! The chicken was amazing paired nicely with the pear? I'm not sure what fruit it was but added an extra element of citrus with the saltiness of the fried chicken. Everything was honestly flavorful and tasted great with the exception of the mozzarella sticks. It was very underwhelming and I could've done without. Overall, great vibes, music, energy and service! overall i enjoyed the dining experience here, but a couple critiques bring it down to a 4/5. - dishes were small - pizza was veryyy floppy, as in all the toppings fell off when i lifted the pizza cuz it was like a sheet of thin paper - service felt slightly aggressive (?) - happy hour was $2 off select drinks that are priced at $16 which is such a weak deal - the music was SOOOOO loud and got louder overnight (we were there between 6-7pm) have to say the pizza concept and taste was pretty cool, slightly crispy korean rice cakes and very korean centric flavors made the pizza enjoyable despite floppy texture for those driving - parking was very easy to find in that area on a thursday evening!! read more

OMG this place was amazing. First of all we had reservations (that require a card on file for a $20 cancellation fee per person if you cancel), and I don't know for sure but it seemed smart to have a reservation. We were there and it wasn't packed, but shortly became so. The playlist was GREAT which made the vibe amazing too. Fortunately we got there during happy hour so drinks were less expensive and so was much of the food. Omg the drinks- I had the kimchi cocktail- the Big Head- which was slightly savory but jesus sooo delicious and well curated. My parents also had excellent drinks- a soju and a beer. To start we got the Honey Butter Tots and the Spicy Cukes and Tofu. The tots were addictive I could've gotten many more but we were tempering ourselves. The cukes were also good, nothing exceptional but I needed some crunchy veggies so it was satisfying. For our mains, the brocollini with candied anchovies was great. We also got the K-Town Smoke Show pizza which had just the flavor you would expect from smokey mushrooms but even better with all the rest of the ingredients. So well curated. It was my birthday and they even brought out a candle for us to celebrate with the absolutely delicious bread pudding dessert. For real If you dont get the bread pudding you're seriously missing out. It had a cream on top and wasn't too sweet just awesome- I'd got back just for it! I'll definitely be back for a date or another celebration since it's nice to be able to share the plates. read more

Really delicious gastropub that I'll definitely be bringing all of my friends to for some good old comfort food. The cuisine is Korean American, and in the best way. Most of the dishes are definitely heavier/more indulgent so pair wonderfully before/in the midst/after having some drinks. The brocollini was great with candied anchovies which I grew up eating and have always loved. Glad we ordered this because I felt less guilty indulging in the legendary cheeseburger which is a double smashed patty with a creamy kimchi sauce. One of the best burgers I've had in my life, truly. Talea sour was nice and fruity and complimented the meal nicely. I want to come back the courses. They are so affordable and a great way to try a bit of everything on the menu! read more

10/10! I thoroughly enjoyed my experience from start to finish!! When I first walked in, I thought it was the cutest spot ever with the red light everywhere. I love the merch and the design of the place. Super spacious seating area with a super cute bathroom for selfies and self care. I came here with one of my girls for some QT and they did NOT disappoint. I'm a sucker for a well-made cocktail but this time around I'm fasting for Lent so I opted for the mock tail which was equally exquisite. My friend got the Lychee Keen which she enjoyed. For our meals, we opted to do the 5 course meal so that we can sample everything. You can choose between the E.P which is 5 course and the other one which has 7 courses. We started off with the romaine ceasar salad which was delicious. Then we had the chop cheese rice cakes which was the star of the night! The chop cheese and the texture of the rice cakes was delicious. We had the fried chicken which is always a good idea and it was. It was super crunch packed with alot of flavor. We decided to order the corn ribs on the side. It was good but I wished they gave us more especially for the price. Lastly we had the burger and it was great. It was moist, flavorful. My friend wish it had more kimchi but I believe mine was just right. read more

I was at a festival across the street and a friend & I wanted to find a place to eat. The name popped on Google maps and I knew I heard of it somewhere(TikTok). We decided to go here. The host was extremely nice and got us seated right away. Because I wanted to try many things and I was with someone else, we got the classic meal which has 7 courses including dessert with all the best hits which was $49 per person. I would have done the E.P meal which is $39 but I wanted to try the ricotta toast with chili oil. As a person who solo dines a lot, I hate that there isn't a deal for us (need two people at least to participate) but I get why. The top items to me on the menu are the chopped cheese rice cakes, the honey butter tots, and the ricotta toast. My friend never had rice cakes before and she fell in love with the flavors. The honey tots made me fall in love with tots which is both my usual M.O. the ricotta toast was a great way to start the meal. I had a good time with the other menu items though I was too full by the time we got to the legendary burger to appreciate it in full. We came on the first day they were premiering a new dessert (bread pudding) but we decided to try the black sesame creme brûlée since it was lighter. The vibes were definitely fun and they played a lot of 2000s rb not only in the sounds but also the TVs. When we went it was not too packed so I wonder how it would feel then. If I was ever back in bushwick or even to the east village, I would try it again. Especially happy hour since it would be a fun time. read more

Dining at Nowon is more like an experience at hip hop dance club than a typical dinner. If you're coming here solely for food, then I'd honestly recommend elsewhere. If you want a fun night out with blasting hip hop mixes and a seven course junk food tasting menu, then you'll find few better spots. I did not know what my wife was getting us into, so it took me a drink to get acclimated. I anticipate a lot of review later will reference music. The volume here is loud. It's on purpose. It's part of the fun. The playlist is 2000s hip hop mix list with each track spinning for maybe 45 seconds. Super catchy. There were songs I haven't heard for nearly twenty years. The nostalgia hits home for Millennials. Onto food. My earlier reference to a junk food tasting menu was serious. We ate pizza, fried chicken bites, cheeseburgers, tater tots, hamburger helper, and munchkins amongst our tasting menu. Truthfully, I'm exaggerating in regards to the simplicity of the dishes. Those items were the premise for many of the course though they had an East Asian spin on all of them and the platting was quiet nice. Service was attentive. We came on a Friday night and we're seated within a few minutes. They had two gender neutral restrooms. The one I used was handicap accessible. Draft list consisted of five local crafts. read more

The food is amazing, such a great play on traditional Korean dishes with a nice New York twist. Nowon Bushwick is a nice vibe. Not too flashy or loud, just the right amount of calm and creativity. I came with a friend to check JaQuan the Chef out, I've been dying to try this place out! We started with soju! Tiffany was so sweet in bringing me a sample of the sweet vanilla rice soju. She was very good with recommendations for the table and knew what we were looking for in taste. We ordered the mixtape classic, which started out with the broccolini .... Sooo good! The ricotta toast, chopped cheese rice cakes and honey butter tots... what great dishes! The Korean fried chicken, our lovely waitress paired with the cool sauce that helped balance out the flavor.... Which was great with and without! The legendary burger was fire! Well cooked I might add. The chef specifically made a chicken and matcha mochi waffles for us. WHOA... matcha mochi waffles... a taste I could never forget. I assume it was the manager who came over to ask us how our food was, but he ended up taking it back and making it right. Loved the service and attentiveness. Amazing Korean fusion comfort food; come hungry!! Great ambience, fun crowd. Not advisable if you're on any sort of calorie restricted diet, lol; best to plan for a cheat day. Even the salad is covered in cheese and a delicious dressing. I think one of our orders appeared quite a while before the other, but it was a very busy night.
