Alex answered the phone on the first ring, 930 pm on a Wednesday night. After I explained to him that we needed our unit Re-keyed he asked a few qualifying questions, I asked for an estimate, his response seemed reasonable, and he said he could be over in 35 minutes. A short while later he was in our place, lock set off the door, new tumblers in place. Out the door by 10:20. Good guy, nice, conversational and knows his business. Super reasonable considering the time of day and speed of service! Will definitely use him again! Thanks Alex! read more

Our dead bolt in a commercial door to our office in SSF, CA recently failed from old age. Employees could not dependably get out of the building through that door. Not a safe situation. Nova and Alex were terrific. They responded quickly to my request and based on the safety issue made arrangements to replace the lock asap. Alex replaced the lock quickly, made sure our existing keys still worked and just made the repair process pleasant. Would highly recommend Alex and Nova Locksmith. Great service and customer support. read more

Alex is incredible. I wish he could be our contractor for everything, not just locks. He was very responsive, fast, and friendly -- we chatted the entire time he worked on our door. Highly recommend! read more

Highly recommend Alex and Nova Locksmith! He was excellent. Alex is seriously awesome! I called super last minute for an emergency situation and he showed up exactly when I needed him to. He was fast, efficient, and extremely friendly. So happy I called him! I was on a time crunch to get the service done and he finished in a matter of minutes. I love how he was understanding of my situation and helped me out as fast as he could. The price he gave over the phone was exactly what he charged when he arrived. Such a great guy! read more

I have used Nova now 3 times. His work is great, he is easy to reach and responds quickly to my requests. He recently installed a new electronic deadbolt on our very old Victorian door and it works seemlessly. He was very knowledgeable about the product we bought and fitted it well to our old house. He is very friendly and his prices are good to better than average. We will use him again. read more

Alex was super easy to work with. I had to reschedule twice and he accommodated my numerous requests. He showed up right on time, gave us a 30 minute heads up. I had attempted to perform a DIY replacement which didn't work. I noticed that Alex's lockset where adjustable and they worked flawlessly. He even ground down the striker plate so the lock worked "like butter". I have another door that I am correcting the fit and as soon as I complete this, I am going to call Alex. He's local and that is important and since he is the "guy" he has everything under control. Great experience. read more

Really quick to respond and reasonable price. Really truly grateful for service!!!!!!!

I was recently on a date with my wife and when we got back to our house we realized we both left the keys in the house and locked ourselves out. This was a really annoying way to end the night but Alex was able to make it a quick and easy process. We found Nova Locksmiths on yelp, and Alex came out to our house in Union Square within 15 minutes. He is extremely professional and knowledgeable. He got us back into the house in minutes! Alex is the absolute best! We have used his service twice now. The first time was an emergency lock-out at 6 am in the morning. Alex showed up in 40 minutes and solved the problem. He even recommended me to get one of those wi-fi controlled lock so that we will never be lock-out again due to vandalism. The 2nd time as not as urgent, but Alex happened to be in the area and showed up in 15 minutes. He opened the locked door, changed the lock and made extra keys. Both times Alex charged us reasonably; never took advantage of the situation. He is super professional, trust-worthy, and has become our go-to locksmith! read more

Alex was super friendly, efficient, and tidy. He called 20 minutes before arrival and showed up with toolbox in hand ready to work. He re-keyed two doors and made several extra keys for me - much cleaner and better than the hardware store. After he left, I was unable to get the key out of one of the locks. Alex returned in just a few hours - calling again when he was 15 minutes away. Even though the problem ended up being user error on my part and the lock actually worked fine (very embarrassing), Alex remained upbeat and took the time to show me exactly how to correctly use the lock. read more

Rockstar work. Alex added and fixed locks on three doors ranging from brand new to 100+ years old.

Our work door key battery went out right at opening time for our business. We made an emergency call to Alex and he showed up within 40mins and had the door fixed in 10mins. Knew so much info about our lock and what to expect for the lifespan. And is was affordable!!!!. Thank you Alex! read more

This is the second time we've had Nova Locksmith come to do some work with our locks. The first time was to re-activate a lock on our gate. Someone other than the owner, Alex came out to do the work. We got a call from them when they were on the way, showed up on time and was in and out in a jiffy. This visit, Alex came to our home to replace two deadbolt locks and a locking door knob. As in the previous appointment, Alex called when he was on his way. After doing a quick review of the job, he added and replaced what we agreed on. I indicated to him that I was going to replace the screws on the existing strike plates with longer screws. He indicated that he used the longer screws on the new installations but insisted on replacing the screws on our existing strike plates (which were held on with concrete NAILS) at no extra charge. Alex cleaned up after himself disposing of all the old locks and the packaging in our garbage bins. We gladly took care of the vacuuming of the dust ourselves. Nova is our new locksmith and will plan to use him in our business as well. Great attitude, great experience. Highly recommend. read more

Alex and his team were on-site in less than a few hours to troubleshoot an issue we were having with our lock. Super communicative and great to work with. Quick and responsive and they were friendly and professional. They fixed the lock and took the time to explain what they did and how to address any future issues. I won't ever be using this company again. They were competent and fast. The negatives were that they ripped me off. I had gotten a key from this company about a year ago and I had called Lock World on Geary St prior. The previous time i had them reprogram the key fob and cut a new key it was about %150.00 Lock World quoted me $90 programming and $19 this is per key. So the locksmith comes and after some unrelated conversation, he programs the two keys in about one minute but says that they don't cut keys. I had seen the machine in the Van with its funky power inverter but he insists that he won't cut a key. Hmm smells like dung. I failed her÷e I didn't get a quote from him before the work was done so technically we did not have a contract the price with no key $290.00 for each key $590.00 that is more than the dealer charges to do this on top of that my original cut key is gone. He says it was that way when he got it. That sounds like bullshit. So it sounds like bullshit and smells like bullshit. I got screwed, reamed, flounced, fleeced, and gouged. The guys this company sent seemed like really nice guys. I liked him but keeping my key? What is the point of that? I could conjecture things but all you have to do is look at the number of automobile break-ins to get an idea. I made mistakes no doubt about it. But I was also taken advantage of by an unscrupulous company and its employees. read more

Alex was amazing. I had an emergency to change locks on my sisters home while she is hospitalized. I don't live in the area and he was very understanding and was able to work around my schedule. Second time I've called Alex, this time to re-key 2 locks. Great communication and very professional. I highly recommend this business.

Very skilled and works super fast. Had some miscommunication on timing but he's very responsive on yelp messages...like top 2 in terms of responsiveness in all my years using yelp to find and book services. Definitely more expensive than the competition but after the sting of paying $140 for 5 minutes of work wore off, I was glad I used someone that knew what they were doing, worked quick, is verified/insured/bonded, and was easy to get a hold of. read more

Alex was awesome! Although I could not meet at the times he suggested he managed to fit my appointment in his schedule and we managed go freely bike in time for me to move out of state (I had given Alex less than we hours notice). Alex was both great at his job (he got the bike free in less than 10 minutes) and a great person to talk with (we spent another 20 minutes talking about life). I would definitely recommend him to anyone! read more
