I have been to this norms location a few times, and the service has been pretty good. My family and I went for breakfast and sat at the counter, and the waitress was not great at all, she barely greeted us. We had to ask for things several times, and it took her forever to come back with items she should have brought out already, mind you it was not very busy either. It took her forever to take our order, the food wasn't that great there was gravy drippings on my breakfast mind you I didn't order anything with gravy on it. The manager did advise me she would take the breakfast off my bill , that wasn't the point customer service is not great, and food was not great at all pass this place up and have breakfast elsewhere I wouldn't recommend going here at all! read more

What happened to the gumbo soup??! and turkey dinner!!!?? I have been visiting Norms since i was a child. I grew up in Santa Monica and West LA and went to those locations with family for years before they closed. My So no one was happier than my family and me to see them open the Carson location, as we live here now. The food has always been fresh and always delicious. The gumbo soup was a family favorite since childhood. Norms is one of the only Restaurants that I thought still made alot of their food from scrach, like the mashed potatoes and their soups. I dont know if its because of covid or what but last night I ordered the roast turkey dinner with gumbo soup and the soup was thicker than gravy it has no chicken in it at all and 2 tiny slivers of sausage. The seasoning tasted the same but it was a weird orange color and my cracker stood straight up in it and didn't move, It was mostly celery and onions and honestly its sad to call this awful stuff "Norms Gumbo Soup". I was so happy to see turkey dinner on their menu again, what I was served was sandwich turkey lunch meat that was browned,( and not even enough for a sandwich) a 1 fork portion of stuffing!! Literally!!!, and a small perfectly round scoop of hard mashed potatoes ( like you would expect to get at a bad cafeteria, and the same thick congealed orange mess (without the sad pieces of mostly celery and onion their soup now has ) over it all. The gravy was the same weird orange color as the soup!! We sat there and just couldn't believe what was put in front of me! I will say the zucchini vegtable side was fresh. Going forward I recommend only ordering anything they would have to cook fresh like breakfast, and maybe burgers ( I think they are still freshly cooked ), but as for the rest of it good luck! I would challenge the owners of Norms to sit in this location and order their gumbo soup and turkey dinner, to see whats put in front of them, and PLEASE go back and look at the original recipe for that soup, and start making that again!!! read more

Amazing food and great ambiance at the new Carson location of Norms. The waitress was so warm and welcoming and we related to each other because we both go to Dominguez Hills University. I really liked the blackened Salmon and the free Rockie Road Chocolate Cone was amazing . I love the gumbo soup and the salad with the blue cheese dressing. I will definitely recommend this location. Very economical pricing as well. I loved how the waitress did not charge extra for the pancakes that came with three flavors: strawberries, blueberries, and cinnamon apple spice. We arrived and got seated right away, however it took a whole hour to get our food. When they finally brought it, they had forgotten our toast. We told the waitress about the toast and had to wait another 15 minutes for super burned toast. My veggie omelette didnt have a single mushroom in it, which was why I ordered it in the first place. It was my first time here at this branch. I went here at 12:10am today. The place was nice, but no one in front to assist you to sit. I saw a guy cleaning tables and I asked if I can sit anywhere and he said "I probably think so" lol not a response that I was expecting. So, I sat myself. No one handed me a menu. So, I took the menu from the front. The place was well lit for the servers not to see me. 10 minutes had passed and this lady in white I think she was the one that suppose to be in front welcoming and assisting customers to sit. She asked me if I was here to order to go...I said no I am here to eat dine in and she asked if someone assisted me and I said nope. I was expecting at least an apology, but turned out she was defensive. She said that everyone was busy and will call a server to assist me. The place was not busy that time because all the customers before me were already sitted, done with their food so I don't know what she was talking about that everyone was busy. Very bad service from the beginning. Server came in 2 minutes took my order. My order came in 15 minutes with the bill already in place. The bill was quick. I am hoping that service is quick too. Bottom line: The food was great no complains on that, but service? Bad. So NORMS management if you are reading this, please train your staff. 1st time at this location: Service=horrible. made me go back and forth for takeout. Arrive at host ....told me to go to the back for take out... went to the back ... they gave me a receipt and ask me to go back to the host to pay for the meal, then go back to the back to pick up my food. Ordered a t-bone steak and egg breakfast had to send it back THREE times coz I ordered medium rare and the first time it came out it was well done, then the second time it came out it was too rare. The third time i just gave up. The servers are great and helpful but you guys need to hire better cooks. Do they even use a kitchen thermometer or what? Hash browns looked half a** cooked as well. When my mom said she wanted to go to norms I Kind of clinched my teeth knowing I am not a big fan of the restaurants.
