This location is close to the Long Beach Flea Market and with that the perfect excuse to return for another look. Once again easy parking and stocked to the brim store. Tons of clearance in all departments and great finds yet again. Hey, it's 1:15 pm on Tuesday January 16th and I've just been checked out by an elderly male cashier. I didn't catch his name but I'm not in the mindset right now to have noticed. I made an exchange and purchase and for some reason he just paused 1 second and made eye contact (even though I'm wearing sunglasses) and asked how I'm doing. I'm not doing well and just that one gesture from an older person who obviously has the wisdom and moment to ask nearly brought me to tears. It really means so much. It's so nice to have older employees who give me that grandfatherly compassion that really feels so nice. Especially when shopping. I've been a Nordstrom/Nordstrom Rack customer for over 40 years and yes the customer service is top notch. I feel in the past few years though it's fallen a bit short. Until today I thought that anyway. I went into Nordstrom Rack to return something I purchased online. A young man called me from the return line to help at one of the registers. I told him I wanted to return the item and he did what he needed to do on the register. However for some reason it wasn't showing up on the screen. Long story short he had to contact the higher beings because clearly I had the receipt and the item so there shouldn't have been a problem returning it. After he got hung up on twice when he was trying to solve my return problem he kept his cool, talked to me along the way explained what could have happened. He also told me what he could do to fix the problem on his end if the higher beings would make me return though USPS which I didn't want to do and quite frankly shouldn't have to do. He is what I remember Nordstrom employees to be like. Let's start hiring more of these types of upscale employees again Nordstrom like Leonard Cortez who helped me today and stop with hiring people that don't go above and beyond for the customer and don't care about making customers happy. I've never had a problem shopping here. This store has always been my first choice when it's been to Nordstrom racks. Today I don't know what happened but I was let down. As I was trying on a pair of shoes, I saw that the lost prevention associate was following me but that wasn't the worst part. As I was there putting on a pair of shoes, the loss prevention lady and another associate were judging me and talking about how I looked in the shoes in Spanish. I guess they thought I didn't know they were talking about me. I then left and went to look at the watches. I waited 15 minutes by the glass casing and no one came so I left. So many associates around yet no one came to help me. So disappointed. Never coming back here, you've lost a loyal customer. read more

I was here for pre grand opening they didn't disappoint me. I love the lay out of this store easy to maneuver around the store. Clean well stocked store. A lot of associates (wearing bright green shirts) to help, direct or check prices with their own hand held scanners. You can even have them check out your purchase without having to go t the checkstand. The associates are truly what makes Nordstrom a good shopping experience. I find that they have a lot of stock but to put it kindly - very last season. It's also difficult to find really good quality clothes, often they are high priced, trendy styles- not classic, so the clothing material is not great. If you are patient though, there are some great buys! Can't beat the prices on last season's bags either. Generally about 30 to 40% less than the retail price but that is still a good deal fro durable goods! read more

While she was returning, I looked around a little bit - the beauty section and the baby/toddler section. Based on those two sections, I give this place five stars. I thought it was weird that the Rack found a new home when there was one down the street at the mall; then I realized that location was set to close. Oh well, that's even better because I really don't like dealing with malls. My dude wanted to buy some new shirts because he wanted to match as my birthday party. When we entered, I was surprised of how clean and organized this place is. There is really so much to offer! Menswear, womenswear, shoes, household items and decor, accessories, toys, jewelry, and more... My dude ended up buying 5 button ups and 2 pairs of shoes. I got a top (I didn't feel like shopping too much that day). I almost was tempted to buy a few of the small items they strategically put out in the line area. Compared to similar stores like Ross or TJ Maxx (which is only 2 or 3 doors down), the items are pricier. Nevertheless, I love the Rack, mainly because of the quality of the items offered there and the overall shopping experience as it is clean, bright and organized with a nice and friendly staff. read more

I like to come to Nordstrom Rack on occasion to see what they have, you can find a pretty good deal on clothes and shoes. Recently I came in to just browse but I ran into some good deals on a new black cardigan and some running shoes. Customer service is excellent! If you need help, anyone in a neon green shirt walking around the store can help you. They can whip out their little iphone and type in or scan an item and search other locations to see if they have an item in your size! They can also check you out (not in that way!!) if you are paying by card! So go in and check out the deals. Also, if you sign up they have a points perks thingy and you can earn Nordstrom cash!! I love Nordstroms Rack, but this is more of a smaller store and the selection is a little bit lacking. They do have fantastic customer service and very low prices on their clearance items, however the small selection sucks big time. Also at other NR stores you can find a large selection of designer clothing, shoes and skin care/perfumes, but this store is a bit lacking.. The merchandise is A ok, but its never crowded and the staff is great so I am giving this place 4 stars. Don't expect to find a whole lot of ultra high stuff, but great for Nordstrom Brand clothes and other stuff without massive crowds. This is from the series "Sister needs a new pair of shoes." No, there were no flat shoes in my size. Oh, but the shoes are magnificent. There is no denying that this is the place to come lust over shoes because they will never have what you need at the time, but buy what you love and use them in the future. Yes, I was looking at the 4" heels ... but they weren't conducive to crawling on the floor to manage file cabinet drawers. My two favorite pair of shoes I've found at the Rack. Both are Italian made so they are tiny and I can wear them. I believe I was looking for sweaters to wear at the gig and failing to find any, I ended up browsing in shoes before I ended up back in the dresses hunting the elusive bargain. They NEVER have new inventory for women's jeans, underwear, men's suit separates, and very little new inventory for everything else. Grand Opening Day and crowded as hell. I went after all the totes were given away, though. I was smart enough to park across the street where BoFA was. When I came in, it looked like a zoo. All the employees were dressed up and were very helpful to those who needed it. Needless to say, it was a mess, but there were workers who were on their toes trying to clean the mess up. I basically came here to look at the accessories, shoes, and sunglass sections. I scored some very cute leather hightops and sunnies that I'm sure I will be wearing in the near future. I saw women pushing carts full of merchandise. Probably all the good stuff was gone. But I will be returning to this rack again because it's not too far from home and they have a decent selection of merchandise. read more

I was really pleasantly surprised by this location. I used to go to the Nordstrom Rack in Costa Mesa back in the day but I got turned off by the constantly massive crowds and mediocre deals so stopped going. Now that I live in Long Beach I'm discovering the Lakewood Mall and didn't even know this was here. I was on the way to the Forever 21 when I saw it and decided to stop in. It was a mercifully sparse crowd and the place was immaculately clean and organized. Well, now that the official holiday shopping season is in full swing I'm sure it's crazy as everywhere else, but on the night I went it was great. I was looking for a little black dress and some stuff to go with it and I ended up finding a lot of stuff I loved. It is a little pricier than a Marshalls, TJ Maxx, etc but it's just a much more pleasant environment in which to shop. Anyway, I'll be coming back. read more

Free Nordstrom Wifi and a wide selection of shoes and clothes? I'm sold Nordstrom Rack is something like an upscale Marshalls or TJ Maxx, but should not be overlooked if looking for sales. The markdowns are really good and I found a lot of clothes I wanted. The workers are extremely helpful and anyone can check out at various parts of the store. I managed to find some almost never used Florsheims for 30% off their normal price and swooped on that! I love this one!!! It's Grand Opening Day and of course I had to go take a peek and witness all the comotion myself! So parking was a little rough...but of course it was expected. I went in there to supposedly "just look around" and I ended up falling in love with 3 pairs of jeans...after glancing over at the line to pay I decided I should try them on first... as I stand in line there are 4 really nice ladies telling me it shouldn't be long...I had a fitting room in less than a minute...so I finally made my picks and decided to buy 2 pairs of jeans (less of a guilt trip) anyhow the line was seriously almost to the back of the store...so I was like fine I'll give this bitch 10 minutes if it's past that I'll leave...surprisingly the line moved sooooo fast that I was up in a register in less than 5 minutes. Overall much bigger selection for BOTH man and woman...great friendly staff, lines moved super fast, clean and organized on top of all the madness...I was really happy with this grand opening day :) read more

I was sad when they closed the location in downtown long beach and I always forget the lakewood mall is even there. But I went to this location and was pleasantly surprised. Sometimes you go and it's hit and miss with sizes and styles. The store was clean and easy to find everything I was looking for. However they didn't have any of the higher end bags or accessories. Love to stumble upon a diesel bag every now and then. I love that you can find an employee in green as check out any where in the store. The line was really long but I was out within five minutes if finding an employee! Great experience! read more

This Rack is really well organized and always has treasures! I had an issue with a pair of defective shoes that the store manager was able to help take care of. This place is as good as it gets. Maybe because it is brand new? I came in just to browse and ended up dropping 1/3 of my paycheck on a pair of jeans, jackets, shoes and a sweater. The stuff that you cannot find at other Racks is here and I would know because I have visited the one in Pasadena and Long Beach (urg) recently. Nordstroms Wack This place looks like a hurricane came through the entire store. Everything is so cluttered and loosely organized. You literally have to contort your body to get through racks and racks of random clothes. I felt like I was Catherine Zeta Jones dodging lasers in Entrapments just so I could get to the watch section. And even more disheartening is that the selection is wack, prices are still high, and all their merchandise is unimpressive. Despite these setbacks, I still tried to shop at this place several times to try my luck at some undiscovered accessory or flattering blouse. But nope, I left empty handed every time. The treasure map definitely doesn't lead here. You're much better off shopping at Ross or Marshalls, sorry about it. read more

Although there isn't a huge selection for men I have to say it is possible to find the needle in the haystack. I purchased a Michael Kors pullover for $50, [50% discount] and wow, I love it! That was my rare find. The other brands they have in excess for men include: Tommy Bahamas, Marc New York, Penguin, and others. What I loved was that despite the long line at checkout was that it went by really fast! Customer service is amazing! I've come here 2 times, since this place opened. It's okay. Nothing crazy, I find that this place is harder to figure out then the regular Nordstrom. Everything is everywhere, and even though it looks like it's organized, it's not really. I walked in, and walked out with nothing. They have a good selection of shoes, but since I wear a size 10, it was harder for me to find something that looked great, and actually fit me. I always tell my friends and family this is the best NR location, and they've come to agree! They always have a great selection of things to buy, and there are definitely cheap hidden gems sometimes if you shop here a lot. I get a lot of my shoes, purses, makeup, and tops from here for pretty decent prices. The store is pretty clean and well organized compared to other locations. Service is great, everyone is so friendly and helpful. It's never too crowded, and I can always find a parking spot during crowded holiday times like Black Friday and Christmas Eve. WOW - this is a great place and I'm SO looking forward to us getting one back in Buffalo NY - in the Fall of 2015 is the news. This place is a few steps up from a TJM and they have higher end merchandise - some you'd NEVER find any other place with incredible low prices. However, you do have to at times dig through things. I found this place to be very disorganized and it almost at times made me feel like I was at a Salvation Army or Amvets or something. They really need to tidy the place up here. Just because it's discount doesn't mean I want to rummage through the place! I sure hope ours will be better, but the prices are amazing! read more

Perfect stores for nice good name brand & shall I less 1/2 less expensive jeans! I got a pair of women's Hudson's jeans originally $198 for a $89. Yes you heard right, $98. Also got my little son 2 pair's of Levi's jeans for winter. Totally cute style and skinny for $24 for Levi's size 7 boys. Would come back to location. It's neat and as organized as can be. Gotta admit I hate HATE stores like this mix matched and thrown pretty on a rack, but for jeans it's worth coming here. read more
