I visited (@12:05pm- check your camera as proof) this store at Lakewood Mall and unfortunately had a disappointing experience. I was in the store for about seven minutes, and during that time there were two employees at the register chatting with each other and one was looking at their phone. Neither of them acknowledged me or offered any assistance. I even walked around the store within their view, hoping someone would greet me or ask if I needed help (which I did), but that never happened. As a customer, a simple acknowledgment goes a long way. Because of the lack of service, I decided to leave without making a purchase (even after seeing two shirts I liked). Hopefully management can encourage staff to be more attentive and engaged with customers in the future. read more

The customer service at this location is amazing! I do a lot of online ordering and in store pick ups, because I don't really like shopping for clothes. Initially I thought the store was too pricy, but truly they do have great sales and a good clearance selection, both in store and online you just have to keep an eye out. In the last six months I've had to go into the store on separate occasions looking for bras, jeans, pants, etc. that would fit, but not really knowing my current size. Miranda, Veronica, and a few other ladies have always been amazing. I've told them what I'm looking for and they will pull a few pieces and get me set up in a dressing room. I'm not really a fashion person, so they help determine what fits well and looks best. I truly appreciate the team at this location and look forward to my visits now. read more

Placed an order 7/17/21 to be shipped to this store, received email on 7/22/21 that order was shipped. I haven't heard anything since. I called customer service this morning and was told that the order was received in 7/23/21. Called store since 11 am and no answer. Called customer service back and was told order was returned because the store is closed. Wow! No email, call or nothing. Torrid has continued to go down the toilet with customer service in store and on the phone. Kicker is I've been charged already and I'm going to have to wait till Torrid to receives the order back just to get my money. Smh. read more

For the most part I really like this Torrid location, but there is one thing that usually keeps me from going here, and it's the checkout. The last 3 times I've been here, I've had to wait in line at least 20 minutes. The last time I was here the wait was 25+ minutes. I understand that they need to process returns, see if people are eligible for a credit card, and place online orders, but when you only have two registers it gets to be ridiculous. The last time I was here there was a woman taking up a register for close to 30 minutes. The second register was moving at a decent pace until another woman wanted to not only return an item, but place another order and have it shipped to the store. Then another employee interrupted one of the registers to check stock for something for a customer who wasn't even in line. It took so long that two people in line behind me decided to leave. I was tempted to leave too, but I needed a pair of pants for a job interview the next day so I waited. When it was finally my turn, there was no apology for the long wait. It took less than 3 minutes to check me out. They need to find a way to make processing returns and online orders faster, or designate one line for returns and online orders because it's insane to expect people to wait 20+ minutes to checkout. My wife really likes this store but after time and time again having a bad experience by a rude brunette. 1. Ignoring my wife while she's asking her a question. 2. Misleading the sales and then making her feel dumb when she make a choice. 3. Doing a store pick up, making her do 3 trips and finally when I went in to help cause apparently she needed be to be there with My ID, only to tell me that I did t have an order and that it was on my wife's name. After all that she said that my wife was confused with what she needed. I didn't respond anything but I was super annoyed. In the end it seems to be the store manager, HOW CAN THIS BE TRUE. I just experienced THE WORST customer service at this location. Basically, I bought a clearance item (buy 1 get 1 free) at a different branch. I decided to return these items at this store because I was already in the area. The manager and this girl named Laura would not let me return my items because they said that its clearance and it "cannot" be returned or exchanged but when you look at the back of the receipt it says "clearance items are final sale and MAY not be returned or exchanged." They argued that CANNOT is a synonym to MAY NOT. Please learn English because this is just plain ignorance. There's also no stamp in front of the receipt stating that I cannot return the items. Then I asked for a corporate #. They gave me a customer service # that can't even help with store purchases. A big waste of my time! Again, another failure in customer service. Went back inside the store and Laura told me that "you should have" returned these items where it was originally purchased. Are you serious?! Don't ever tell your customer what to do! When I spoke to her again about what she said, she then stated that she didnt say that. So now you're calling the customer a liar. WOW! I'M DONE WITH THIS STORE. THEY NEVER CARED ABOUT THE INCONVENIENCE THEY'VE CAUSED ME. SO I WILL NEVER BE BACK AGAIN. IGNORANT PEOPLE AND HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SEVICE WILL BE THE DOWNFALL OF THIS COMPANY. Only one review?! Psssh.. Whatever. So as a purveyor of plus size clothing (yes I did) I find this to be one of my favorite Torrids. Why? Because its one of the first Torrids. Why? Because they have the nicest most fashionable plus size staff. Why? Because I just picked up some coochie cutters (those who know me know I can't get enough coochie cutters) on clearance for 15 bucks. WHO GONNA CHECK ME BOO!!! They have one of the best clearance sections. Not as good as South Bay mall though. I love the dressing rooms at Torrid. They know that I need a large couch to sit down and think about squeezing into these shorts I'm about to purchase. Or that I'm bringing my friend in with me to tell me how hot my ass looks. The customer service at this location is EXCELLENT! These chicks here are so nice and they even deal with your returns without all the attitude. My only concern is that they don't feel you in on the coupons when you walk in. I need to know my maximum savings opportunities. Especially if a shirt starts at 32 bucks. I mean you can get the info, but you have to ask about it. Fill me in chicks! So yes I will continue to shop at Torrid. As a big girl you are limited on your clothes shopping options. Stores like Target, Macy's, and Forever 21 don't carry your size or if they do they carry something my grandmother would wear. So, we basically get to choose between Lane Bryant and Torrid. Torrid at least carries clothes that young big girls would want to wear, but whereas they started out carrying mostly rockabilly/punk/goth clothing (which I LOVED), they have now changed and seem to be trying to be the Forever 21 for large women. I understand that they are catering to the majority of their clients but seriously there are some things that fat girls (and I say this as a card carrying member of that club) shouldn't wear. I'm looking at you, form fitting cat-suit. Another bone I have to pick is the shoes. ALL of their shoes are sized for wide feet. Not EVERY fat girl has wide feet! It's such a tease, every time I go in there I see these cute ass shoes that I know won't fit me. Can't we get some normal sized shoes in there? Just a few? That said, this is still the place I go to when I need jeans or a cute top. I just wish it wasn't so expensive! Seriously, $45-50 for a tank top? Who has that kind of money? Let's start with customer service......and I'm gonna do this and I feel bad about it but really...Lauren you cannot pick up the phone and answer like I'm interrupting your day of talking to your friends at work while my money goes to pay your hourly wage. You cannot be like "Yeaaaah.........I guess I can look up the product...." followed by you making feel horrible about calling in the first place. In same situation as someone who posted below. I placed orders 7/18 and 7/19 to ship to store. First I was annoyed that I couldn't use all my Torrid cash in one order. $175 couldn't be used all at once. I received shipment confirmations for both orders , one shipping on 7/20 and the other on 7/24. I waited a week and no email for pickup. I figured a delay due to Covid, understandable. I actually give it one more week and still no email or phone call. I call customer service, they tell me that the shipment was received and to call the store to follow up. I call the store. No answer. Phone rings and rings. I figure ok, they are busy I'll drive over and go in. I get to store and it's lights off and closed, there is only a sign saying "We are temporarily closed". No indication of reduced hours or any other explanation. Ok, we are in a pandemic. I still understand. I head back home and call customer service for more info on whether they know when the store will open again. Customer service says it's probably a staffing issue and that it's confirmed my shipments were both received on 8/2 and 8/6 at the store. They said the store is probably only open on the weekends. But they couldn't confirm. I called everyday this week and no answer. So today being a Friday, I AGAIN call and no answer. I was going to be out and about so AGAIN, stopped by just in case they were too busy to answer their phone. Store is still closed, lights out. I've been patient enough. I feel they should at least offer an explanation or advise of reduced hours. read more

So, it was with great joy that I encountered the staff at Torrid. They were SO helpful, finding things which look great on her, and getting her a whole new wardrobe to be ready for summer. Their clothes aren't all stodgy like Lane Bryant's stuff, and she looks really great in it! So, all in all, I'm so happy to have come to this store. If I wanted to go back to my snotty days in high school and dealing with hateful people I would come to the store and deal with Angela. Totally unacceptable how rude she was. I am a religious Torrid shopper, I love love the clothes. This location however has the worst customer service I have ever received. Angela does not know how to delegate a situation let alone off customer service. She has the worst attitude. I wanted to return an unworn item when I had bought it at the time the associate said I will not need a receipt because I have an insider card and all my purchases are kept in a system. When I returned with the items I didn't want Angela insisted I got store credit and that my purchase was not valid for a return with out the original receipt (which I never received) was the only way. When I stated what I was told by that associates she instead there was nothing she could do but give me store credit. I wasn't going to accept that so I told her I would take my items back and asked for the corporate number she then insisted that there wasn't a help desk to call and nothing I could do. I work retail and find it very interesting that the corporate office wouldn't have a customer service hotline or phone number. Although this location is walking distance from my house I will drive the distance to another location for better service. read more

I have shopped here plenty of times through my high school years and have always had great service. Went in tonight to return a pair of pants that i bought online but were too big. The cashier was very helpful and nice, plus we even joked a little back and forth while she was returning the purchase. no hang ups, no attitude. I couldnt buy anything (since im flat out broke) but i looked around the store afterwards for some things that i had to buy for my sorority's required attire for fall formal recruitment. even though i didnt buy, the lady who returned my purchase helped me find some awesome things that I plan on buying when i return with my mom (aka; atm machine) come this weekend. The only problem i have with torrid is that its definitively more expensive than other stores around. Appx: $36-45 for bras, $30-50 for tops, $45-60 for jeans and outerwear. overall great experience, and love shopping here. read more

So the first couple of times I went here I was put off because the sales reps are either way too pushy and try to be WAY too personal or they completely ignore you. However, I got sick of driving 30 min to go to another Torrid so I kept going back at different times. The main manager who is there typically during the week is my favorite, she trys to help in any way she can. The selection is ok but not as good as the south bay store. I seem to hardly ever find my size because I suppose its common? (size 0-1) read more

Torrid is the only store of it's kind (young trendy plus size womens clothing), so at this point there's not a huge base for comparison. The quality of clothing and style selection could be better, and the prices are really really high. They're definitely capitalizing on their position in the market. I bought a cute dress here at the beginning of May for a special event. Unfortunately the zipper busted the first time I wore it! The 5 stars are for the return. I put off returning the dress as I had worn it, danced in it, and I think my friend even spilled her drink on it:( I finally decided to give it a shot nearly two months later, as the dress really was adorable. I love this store I went to find a women's suit for a job interview and they had the perfect suit I did not need to tailor the pants it was the perfect length which is wonderful when youf 5'1" and round in the tummy region. The staff was super helpful and helped me pick out the best outfit. I attended the Torrid store in the Lakewood Mall. I would recommend anyone to walk in and shop here. read more

I love Torrid - they've zeroed in on the stuff we, as plus-sized girls look for. Their jeans, especially, are awesome. But they are super expensive and I only really buy on sale or with a gift card. This Torrid is ok, but pretty small and crowded. It's hard to look around and really see everything, and it should really be about twice as large. It's also in a weird corner of the mall - all the way in the back, near Costco and Ulta - if you go in that entrance, you'll find it right away. The dressing rooms are nice though, and all of the employees are nice and helpful. It would be nice if they carried more common sizes in the store, like the Short inseam in jeans, which is what the majority of shoppers take here (Short fits an average 5'3-5'5 height). My star rating is really based on the size of the store and how crowded it is. I feel like I always give up before I even see everything, especially if it's just me and my toddler, since it's impossible to push a stroller around in here. read more

The first time walking into this store I didn't know what I was going to get, definitely lost as a male in a plus size women clothing store lol yeah big deal, anyway when i first went into Torrid I was greeted by a nice young black women she may have been the manager, but she actually helped me out a lot she definitely knows her fashion she helped me pick out a dress that she thought my wife might like in which my wife loved it. I'm so glad she was in the store that day to help me because you rarely see that in other stores. If I could leave negative stars I would!!! Lakewood customer service is horrible!!! I walked into the store at about 6:15 pm and I was never once greeted, I went and found my bra size and a couple other items and went to try them on the sales person did find me one thing, only because it had moved, never making eye contact.. ( I was the only customer in the store) I walked back to try on the items and waited about 3 minutes I would still be waiting if another sales person had not walked out of the back ( I assume break/storage room) and asked if I needed a room. She went to get the key and came back. She gave me a room that was so small ( I had my toddler and my stroller with me) I had to take my toddler out and maneuver the stroller into the stall. Why didn't I ask for a bigger room.. well because as soon as she opened the room she was gone, and I didn't have time to wait for her. I tried on the clothes and loved them as usual, but I walked out of the dressing room and hung the items up on the go back rack and walked out. Just like I entered I exited she never said a word. I was treated as if my $60 for a bra and $89 for a dress was not needed. Most stores have a quota to meet and I was not going to give this store any money towards that quota. I will not be shopping at the Lakewood, CA location ever again. Maybe not at any torrid that left a very bad taste in my mouth. read more
