My favorite Hot Topic. All the workers are so friendly and helpful. Usually when you go into a Hot Topic, all the workers are just socializing. Not here. They're here to help and help you find what you're looking for. They even go above and beyond and try to help you order online for pickup in the store. Love it! Another great thing is that they take good care of their merchandise. I hate finding a Funko pop that I like only to discovered that the box is smashed or damaged. I would stop in from time to time when I was younger now in my older years and with a teenage kid after years away I sometimes find myself in a location such as this one. So let's get in to the fact that this particular location is well staffed and clean every time I have been here they have been very attentive to all my needs. Robbie the manager & the young girls at the register are the best! Came in store to pick up an online order for my niece who is obsessed with Olivia Rodrigo. Both girls were so sweet, available, and helpful. One was getting my order while the other was telling me the deals in store and gave me a coupon of 25% off my next purchase. When I got my online order they opened it for me and thank god they did cause the shirt I got was bigger than expected but that was my fault for not reading the description. I started shopping around for the next big thing for my niece would like which is Sanrio and found a Chococat backpack. I told the girls I would do an exchange so they called Robbie over who went above and beyond in his customer service. In my experience, Hot Topic has always had friendly staff. This time however I can also add that they have friendly and helpful staff! Destiny and two others in particular (sorry I didn't get there names but it was a man and woman at the register) were so personable and helpful without being over bearing! They made me aware of specials going on, they answered my questions if certain tshirts were in stock and they went out of there way to ask about my experience and if they could call other stores to help assist me in my search! This hottopic really sucks. The employees are rude. I made a pick up order and went there with my ID and say I was picking up an order. The guy that works in the front was telling me he needs to see proof of the email and I said I couldn't scroll it down coz my internet sucks. And he said "oh well" I said well I have my id he said he couldn't accept it. I said well my sister got to pick it up and the nice lady let her do that. He said "what lady? There's no lady that works here" He tried being smart with me and chuckled and smirk like I'm dumb. but pick up order you can show ID!!! I have been to this Hot Topic a few times before and they are always great! They are inviting and welcoming whenever I walk into the store. This time, I have to give a big shout out to Evelyn. My 16 year old was doing their Secret Santa Christmas shopping and didn't want help from me. They didn't tell me that the previous store she had gone to had given them tons of change instead of dollar bills for their change. Evelyn was extremely patient with them as they counted out ALOT of change to pay pay for the shirts they wanted. I had a great experience at this location. I was there on Saturday to buy a couple of items for Christmas. I was immediately greeted who told me about the current deals going on which was their continuation of their Black Friday sale. The staff is always super helpful and check in on you and I find that very kind. The store itself is very easy to navigate and it is organized so well. I came in yesterday to pick up a mail-to-store order and on my email invoice, it says this location offered curbside pickup, but while I was waiting outside in my car, no one answered the phone after calling the store three times. So I had no other choice than to go inside. I asked the girl who was working in the front yesterday that was managing the line if this was also the line for online pickup and rudely she said "You need to wait in line. We only allow 14 people inside." First of all, that was a little rude and secondly, once I got inside, they couldn't find my order. I even heard the girl managing the line say "is it even ready for pick up?" Like, I wouldn't drive all the way to the store if it wasn't ready. I have spent a fairly decent amount of my life working in customer service. Therefore, I have to recognize when I am on the receiving end of some outstanding help. Her name is Kat. Or is it Cat? I didn't read her name tag, so not sure of the spelling, but she introduced herself. awesome. I needed something, but was unable to find it at this store. Before I could ask my other options, she was on the phone, found the item @ Cerritos Mall location, and had them hold it for me. Wow. Plus service with a smile. On this day, I wasn't able to find what I specifically needed at her store, but I will definitely be back here when I do. I came to this Hot Topic today to find my friend a birthday present. The date: Monday, October 29 around 10:30AM. I was really hoping to find these Nightmare Before Christmas Tights that I saw Online. So I asked this cute petite girl on a ladder working hard to put up the shirt frames. She took her time to talk to me. I asked her so many questions and she answered them swiftly & confidently. But it also felt like a conversation with a good friend! And that is what I loved that about her! Her name is JEN! She has Excellent Customer Service! She knows the Flow of the Store and actually has info on the products they are selling right now. I have a long history with Hot Topic. From being my first go-to alternative store to my best friends working there to dating a guy who was one of the first store managers when HT was only six stores to knowing people now who have grown with the company. I recently visited the store to find that HT has morphed into something that is unexplainable. Upon the walls, bright neon colored shirts displaying EAZY E and COMPTON, goofy novelty items that would appeal to a six year old, stationary and schoolbags -- what ever happened to the bondage pants?? The corsets? The fishnets? The platform boots? The chains and neck leashes?? What happened to the store? Throughout the years, it has quickly transformed into a trend store. Catering to the latest fashion trends kids are constantly exposed to on music television (that hardly plays music videos). I am a product of the early days of HT....I don't agree with the concept now. My recent purchase; T,U.X. platform shoes. The funny thing about these shoes is that there are no half sizes. The 9's are too big and the 8's are too small. What ever shall I do? Well, what every woman does; endure the pain while looking fabulous. I still like the fact that HT is getting back to music and slowly bringing back the darker edge that was once HT -- let's just hope it's not short-lived. read more

I'm very disappointed with Hot Topic now (not with the this location, but HT in general). This was the ultimate goth store back in the day. I used to step in this store and always have something to buy... corsets, goth boots, fishnets, Emily the Strange merch., etc! Even the hot goth/ metal head staff were a plus. Now it looks like an acid trip gone bad.... skinny jeans in the brightest neon colors possible (who the hell wears that), simple bright tees, Twilight and other teenie bopper stuff that you can basically get anywhere. Even the body jewelry isn't as great anymore. And some of the staff don't even have a clue about most of the music. What the hell happened?! Still go for something like a stud belt and lip rings, but otherwise, I go in and step out after 5 minutes. read more

Of all the locations I've been to, this one is always my favorite. Most Hot Topics have a greeter and other workers who ask if you need help and tell you about the current deals going on. I don't know why people bash on that so much. People say they feel like they're being followed or watched, but I've never felt that way or have witnessed that kind of behavior. The staff are always super helpful whenever I need help reaching or finding an item. The store itself also has a lot more stuff than the other ones and is generally easier to navigate. Sometimes it's hard to get around on big days like Black Friday or when KROQ comes, but I've never had any issues at this location. Lakewood mall is generally pretty ghetto, but Hot Topic is still my go-to. read more

Hot Topic - minion glasses for $10! - Men's Clothing Near Me - Lakewood, California

As I have been shopping at Hot Topic pretty much since I learned about it around 10 to 11 years ago, I have seen plenty ups and downs, particularly many positives, but this store particularly has left me with some gripes. First and foremost, much of what I am looking for seems to never be in stock, I am almost always relegated to purchasing online instead of trying to purchase from the store itself. I say this because when it comes to clothing, unless I have to, I rather buy in person than online due to the fact that I would like to try on the shirts to see if it fits me. This leads into my next problem: the fact I am even relegated to buy online most of the time. If I am going to end up buying online, then what's the point of having a store in the first place? I could have gone on my computer, bought the clothes, and just waited for it to be delivered and not have wasted my time, gas, or patience. Hell, that's all the store has become to me: just a place to deliver my clothes from online just because I won't have to pay for shipping and handling. Another problem I tend to have with the store is the customer service: much of the staff is either no where to be seen, is at the counter not trying to do much, or in a conversation with another employee that they are not going to step away from. This has led me to go to other stores that are further out from my area, many of which have had better customer service, stock, and try to make sure that you leave satisfied; but if I am having to make a trip to just end up getting better service, then I feel this is a problem with this store specifically. Out of all of this, there is one gripe that really have, not with this store specifically, but with the franchise itself. Much of my time going to Hot Topic, I have noticed that the section for Men's tends to be sold out pretty fast, and never really restocked. I am not sure when new shirts drop for Hot Topic, but when they are, they are gone immediately. With this, I tend to notice that the store very much caters to Women since there are many sections and clothing options, heck even a plus-size option, but very little care or consideration is put into the Men's department. I go to Hot Topic much of the time because they are the only clothing store that sales legitimate Anime, Gaming, and various Geek related clothing, but I feel that I am forced to look elsewhere because of the fact that the section for us is almost barely nothing and is never restocked for me to even consider buying. I want to give them my money because I love the clothing, but if all this is becoming is just a Female dominated store with barely any clothing for Men's, then I will have to look elsewhere. I could be wrong, but this comes from my many observations during my time of shopping at Hot Topic. In all, I give it a 2/5 due to the fact my times at the store haven't always been bad, but more often than not, it is mediocre. read more

Absolutely love this location! This HT became my go to location even if it is a drive out. I must say it is better than the Torrance location. The employees are all friendly and welcome you to the store. They also tell you about their sales, which the Torrance location doesn't often do. So great customer service! Their merchandise is much more organized and there is a much wider variety. I walked in to just buy a couple of wrist bands and maybe spend at least $25 but they had so many great things I ended up splurging and spent $100! I bought my wrist bands, a Sleeping With Sirens shirt and 2 pairs of jeans! Hot Topic jeans are always the best and I will be coming here more often! read more

Bigger than most of the Hot Topics I have seen. The music isn't too loud and they have a huge selection. The store is well organized and makes it easy to find the stuff you would be looking for. I came in looking for Stranger Things stuff and the store did not disappoint. The staff are very friendly and let you know about the deals going on. Hot Topic and I go way back... I remember when I first started shopping here (in the mid 90's) it use to be totally on the dark side (more gothic and creepy). Over the years the stores have gone through a major change, cleaned themselves up and now look a lot more inviting. I have been on a hunt for a Misfits t-shirt, now I am very meticulous on t-shirts and sadly the one I really wanted was available online only and after shipping and handling plus taxes, it was well over what I wanted to spend on a t-shirt. Therefore, I decided to abandon my search and get the original Misfits t-shirt instead. Walking in I was greeted by one of the employees folding hoodies on a nearby table. This place is fully stocked with every latest trend you can think of these days. They have a full wall of Hello Kitty stuff, funky cute jewelry, hair accessories, and knee high socks. Only thing I was somewhat disappointed about was the lack of band shirts for girls. The guys had more of a selection. Making my way over to the band t-shirt area, I spotted my t-shirt. Took a small and asked if i could try it on. The sales girl was sweet and checked on me mid-way through asking if I needed another size. I told her no this t-shirt (which shocked me) fitted me prefect! The price was not bad either for the shirt $15.00. I'm happy with it, now I can't wait to start cutting the shirt to make it look even more awesome! read more

Customer service here was terrible when i went a couple weeks ago. I went in the store on a search for a necklace i wanted and some buttons. The whole time i was in the store i was followed by one of the sales associates. I was in no way acting suspicious. I was intending on purchasing my items. The blonde sales associate (a girl) followed me around the whole store. At one point i stopped to look at bikinis and she stood right next to me until i was done looking at them. It was so uncomfortable. I left my items and walked out the store. I work in retail and never have i followed a customer around the entire store. I hope this girl gets some sort of warning or something because i wouldnt want someone else to experience the same thing. read more

Even during the holiday season, the staff there was still friendly and willing to help. I shop here to feed my nail polish addiction. They have great colors for only $2.99 each. And while I'm here I usually pick up gifts for my nieces. The huge Harry Potter section kind of threw me though. It sort of seems incongrous to the HT milieu. I always thought this was a Goth store, but is Harry Potter Goth? My older sister reads HP novels... Anyway, I really hate how everything is so squished together. Too much stuff in too small of a space. Yesterday afternoon i made a trip to the lakewood mall for some hot topic goodies, at my arrival i was greeted by a short blonde mid 20s female who followed me around the store my whole time there. The problem was not her presense but her attitude towards the end really. I was getting ready to pay after about 15 min of looking around. I arrive at the register and she decides to open up a register just for me and my friend. When i pay for my set of earrings she specifically asks were i put some tights that i had earlier gotten of the shelf and left behind another register, i let her know they are behind the other register and she DEMANDS me to grab them for as proof that i hadnt actually stolen them. This was a terrible accusation and i refuse to be treated as a thief. This is just to let whoever is in charge that at LAKEWOOD MALL there is racial profiling and false accusations thank you for your time and i hope there is something that can be done. read more

Hello there, I'm Tatiana and have been a customer for many years. Today i had difficulty exchanging an item in your store located in down town Long Beach CA your outlet store. I was given a Sailor Moon Shirt as a holiday gift and just needed a larger size. I headed straight to the counter with my predicament. Both sales reps tried to help me and both seemed a little unemphatic to my issue. The manager on staff a brunette with brown eyes was able to locate the shirt online for the exchange. How ever the transaction would cost me about 12 dollars more. When I asked why she said due to me not having a receipt I would only get half of the cost of the shirt toward the new one. This is ridiculous, I can see paying a little extra for the size difference other than that having to pay for half the shirt when it was a gift is horrible. Exchanges and returns should be handled differently. Also some customer service training for your sales reps should be mandatory. I asked to have my parking validated and the manager on staff rolled her eyes at me an stated she wasn't supposed to validate since I didn't make a purchase. But she would do it anyway. Snide remarks like that toward customers is unnecessary and disrespectful. Can you please help me with this exchange my cousin purchased this for me and does not have the receipt anymore. read more

Normally I love this store. Always have received good customer service, been coming here for a decade now. Yesterday at Lakewood mall an employee in the entrance greeting people seemed to be stalking my every move. I felt very uncomfortable shopping while he proceeded to follow me as I looked at more items I intended to buy. When I first walked into the store he asked me if I needed help which is fine but as soon as I started touching the merch he kept watching me. I then went further into the store had no problems and purchased a few items. After I bought items and started walking towards the entrance I noticed a Wonder Woman section which I love, well of course I was gonna check it out the rude employee again walked up to me and asked if I needed help in a very awkward tone, I said no well he decided to stand next to me as I looked at the merch , then just to test if he was really watching me I went to the other side of the stand well guess what he Moved right across from me ! to see me look at the stuff.! I looked at Him right in his eyes pissed and left. I wanted to buy more stuff but after being eyeballed and stalked i just left. I was close to returning the merch that I bought had the line not been so long. And filing a complaint but I didn't want to waste my time. Love this place!!! The hot topical by my house was sold out of the dress in wanted to purchase for my sister's Christmas gift. Luckily I was able to contact the Lakewood location and spoke with Luis who helped me right away! Even though he could not keep the item on hold he reissued me that he would do his best at keeping the item in stock and if not he would call me so I wouldn't have to drive out there for nothing. Once I arrived at the store Luis remembered who I was and had my item ready for purchase. So awesome! Even with all the holiday crowds Luis and the rest of the staff were so nice and helpful!! This place is really small and feels really cramped. It sometimes gets busy, and it's hard to get around the store without having to say "excuse me" more than once. Don't expect the employees to come up to you and ask if you're doing alright, you have to go up to THEM. The employees are generally nice, so don't be scared to go up to them. read more
