Really strange interaction today. Go in to buy rain jacket and shorts. Rain jacket $90. Shorts tagged @ $35 (all colors and sizes in this brand were $35). But the shorts ring in for $38. I said those dang in for $38 but they're tagged at $35. Response - yes. I say - but they're tagged at $35 - so you're charging me $3 more than they cost. Loooooong blank stare. I gotta find out where this goes so I wait and say nothing. He says can't fix it - you can come back. When? Can anyone fix it? Can you call a friend to help? I recently started shopping their store on Carson in Long Beach. I like the clothing collection and sizes, a little overpriced but figure better than buying stuff that doesn't fit. I needed to buy a sport jacket or a suite so I thought I would try the Lakewood store since it is actually closer than the other store I mentioned. I went into the Lakewood store about 11 am on a Tuesday, not a busy time. When I entered the store I saw two or three employees in the store. I didn't receive any recognition or offer of assistance. I walked over to the suits area and started trying on jackets. I tried on several while the employees had a nice chat. After about 15 minutes in the suites department I looked at merchandise around the store feeling like this is the last place I want to patronize. I went to another nearby national chain men's clothing "warehouse " where I received excellent service. I bought five items and they hemmed the slacks in about 10 minutes while I waited. Most of the items I bought were at sales prices, so I know I got a great value. Sadly , COVID has made many of us chunkier than we want to be and really should be but if we are or you are in this undesirable condition , I do recommend DXL , they do carry items that make us look better than wearing tight clothes that make us look like a tamale . THis has a nice selection of clothes for big and tall. They don't have much of the less expensive stuff. One thing that is different from other big and tall stores is that they have an in-house tailer, or have access to one quickly, and they will do customization. I guess that's how they compete with the Internet. The guy I talked to, who may be the manager, was friendly. I can't help but wonder if the gentleman that left the review about being left alone to dance about while stuffing his shorts didn't confuse DXL for the Men's Wearhouse right next door. I received a rather cold reception from the employees there and as a result ended up visiting DXL, making a fairly substantial purpose, and I've been a customer ever since. I have never received anything but stellar treatment right down to being offered a complimentary water. Best of all I generally know what it is I need and with the assistance of the knowledgeable staff I am generally in and out in no time. As pleasant as they are I still prefer my free time be spent doing something other than clothes shopping. My sincerest thanks to the people at the Lakewood store. I had a return item that was outside the return window. While he was at first reluctant, the gentleman who helped me made an exception for me and went ahead and returned my item. I was disappointed to walk in and be spoken to by NOBODY in over ten minutes. I walked around, looked for my items, stuffed some small items down my pants, and did an Irish jig. Finally, faced with the choice of changing clothes to try on items right in the middle of the store, or preserving my modesty, I broke down to find a clerk. The store was messy, the changing rooms were unclean, and filled with unpurchased merchandise. I prefer to go to the Brea store because they are friendly and approach customers immediately upon entry. They offer water on hot days. I really hoped Lakewood would be as good. Previously I had good experiences here, but today I called to get some shirts close to closing time of the store. The first person I spoke to told me I would have to get them by 6:10pm but she would leave them for my pickup for tomorrow. I checked my gps and it showed I could get to the store by 6:09. So I called the store again to tell them I would be there. A person named Greg spoke to me. While I really wanted to get my shirt tonight and he was telling me it was not possible, that was not what most upset me. I usually get really good service here but on this visit. I didn't receive any help. I walked in, no greeting. I walked around literally for 30min looking. When the sales person walked past I had to flag her down and asked if she had a size of shirt. As she proceeds to the rack I informed her I already checked there and asked if there were any in the back. She said all they have is what's on the floor but very dismissive. As I continued to look I got very upset and decided not to spend my money. Which is a shame bc I usually spend alot of money in that store. It was an hour before closing and one sales girl was folding clothes, the other was helping the only other customer in the store, and one other girl that was floating. So there was two available sales people to help. I figured the one sales girl would come to help after the other customer left the store but she continued doing other things. I got discouraged and very pissed and left my would be items on the counter and walked out. Like I said I spend money with DXL all the time. Just last week I was at the Palm Desert location and received excellent help from the one and only sales person on the floor. So the Lakewood store has no excuse. Very pissed off customer. read more

So i frequently shop at this Dxl in Lakewood because of their Ralph Lauren Polo selection and its always been a pleasure shopping there. NOT THE CASE TODAY! Upon entering the store and browsing thru shirts, pants, etc. I couldnt help but notice that i was being shadowed by one of their representatives, he never asked if i needed any help or was it a particular item i was looking for. Once i grabbed the items i wanted i headed towards the cashier desk to pay but couldnt help the awkward feeling this guy was giving so i decided to continue to walk and continue to browse just for confirmation and guess what, there her was ‍ i then proceeded to the counter where this particular gentleman Named Greg then assisted me. I politely told him that he made me feel awkward and uncomfortable because i felt as though he was following me. Greg then confirmed what i suspected and said he apologize but its company policy and that what they tell them to do. I was livid and hurt at the same time I need answers DXL is this your policy to have your employees follow customers around and make them uncomfortable? Was greeted within 10 seconds of entering the store. Was looking for a particular brand and the staff took me right to the location of the products. Knowledgeable about product and offered choices (even though I wasn't interested in the alternatives). Staff showed me to the dressing room, made sure I had everything I needed, and even gave the wife and myself a couple of bottles of water. Had our customer information on file from previous (years ago) purchases made at Casual Male. Excellent service and staff all around. The store is much larger than other Big and Tall places I've been to and has quite the assortment of products. They had almost two complete wall spaces for jeans in many different styles, brands, and sizes. Product was organized in an efficient manner making finding the right size very easy. I went in this store after work yesterday to buy my husband some things for Fathers Day. I walked into the store on the end nearest to five guys and there was a guy I there really nice and tried to help me out but when I couldn't find what I requested he recommended I go two stores down to the other Dxl store that has more casual wear and more variety of men's under garments. I walked into the store and no one greeted me at all and no the store wasn't busy at all. I walked around the store 3 times before a really nice guy offered to help me. The only reason I'm giving 2 stars is because of this guy. The rest of the employees just stood around joking around with each other and not offering the customers any help at all. Maybe I looked like I had no money to spend..... I'll never understood why I was treated so poorly when I clearly looked lost as hell and needed assistance. Well I did buy the items I ended finding thanks to that one nice guy. Step up your customer service game guys! Thank u to the guy who did finally help me!
