This place should take over chipotle. It's the same idea but like a million times better + they have Tuesday and Thursday late night happy hour with BOGO house margs + every night late night free chips and salsa with any alcohol purchase?? Such a good deal. This was the best burrito I've had in years probably. The margs were also really good - the classic was especially strong. The employees were all really nice, a decent amount of tables, and really clean inside which is always important.

Never heard of this place but drive by all the time. Looking for something quick but didn't want five guys or Panera that was next door. I was impressed by the number of people and friendly staff. Really great tasting tacos. Had the fish taco and shrimp taco. Bigger than Torchy's. I'd say a more limited menu. Good experience and I'd be back for sure

My wife and I popped into Nopalito's for the first time just a few weekends ago while we were running errands in the area. I had come across them on Yelp previously. We both love Mexican food, so figured what the heck let's give them a go?! Walking in is comparable to walking into a Chipotle-esque, order-at-the-counter set up. The key difference is that they boast a full bar with bar seating, and well, they're truly LOCAL. Cool art murals on the walls tying into the luchador-themed restaurant. I wasn't all that hungry (for once in my life), yet as soon as my wife began her order I was like, screw it I'm here let's get something. I usually judge these types of places by their burritos, however that sounded very filling looking at other patrons dishes inside the restaurant. I opted for a quesadilla and it turned out to be an excellent choice! Grilled Asada Quesadilla // comes with your choice of white or wheat tortilla, plus the meat, cheese and veggies of your desire. I got mine with guac and pico on the side. I have to admit, it was awesome. I feel like quesadillas can be fairly basic, but the meat was tender and seasoned well. We also enjoyed the chips and queso. We like to consider ourselves queso aficionados and we both found theirs to be enjoyable. A little on the runnier side for our liking, but it thickened up the more it sat. Overall, a great meal! Nopalito's should be on your hit list for a fast casual bite when you're not looking for anything fancy. Everything hit the spot, the portions were great, and I felt like the food was priced appropriately. Definitely coming back!

I needed a quick lunch in the area and had never been here before, so I decided to give it a try. The staff is super friendly and accommodating, the seating outside is a little close together but it's nice to have the outdoor choice with a view of the mountains over the parking lot. I ordered chicken flautas, which I never get, and I liked having choices of sauces and other sides - even if there is a charge for some. They were hot and tasty. The bonus to Nopalitos besides the staff being so lovely is that I also got a margarita and it was refreshing and well balanced. The bar was a nice surprise because who doesn't want the option of a cold margarita on a hot day? I will definitely go back and try other things.

What an awesome new little spot right off 28th. Really well made Mexican and Latino dishes with serving sizes that will fill your belly and prices that will make you a regular here. The staff is always super polite and they have recommend a few things to me which are now my go-to options. If you need a quick and delicious bite I would head over to this place and grab some of the epic taste that is Nopalito's! read more

This is our new favorite Mexican restaurant in Boulder! The employees were very friendly, and all of the food looked very fresh. As a vegan, Nopalito's had so many vegetable options for me and I was not charged for guacamole. The outdoor patio has a great view of the flatirons as well. I will definitely be returning! FYI, it is a little hard to find. It's inside the diagonal plaza. read more

We found Nopalito's on Yelp as we were driving toward Boulder to tour campus. I was intrigued by the 5star rating and needed to give it a try. I ordered fish taco, shrimp taco and Barbacoa taco, all Baja style. The shrimp was seasoned and cooked perfectly, after my order. The crispy fish was perfectly crunchy and not dry (how do they do it?!) Definitely leave room for the churros. They are literally the best I've ever had. Extra bonus was Jarrito's and Mexican coke to wash it all down. read more

Seriously! If you have not been to Nopalitos yet, you must go! It's that good! Service is great-friendly owner who takes pride in the food, service and makes sure everything is absolutely perfect. He even mixes up the ingredients in the burrito so that every bite has everything in it! I mean, who does that? It's amazing. We drive all the way from Arvada to get burritos. Highly recommend a fish burrito, but you really can't go wrong. Never had a thing we don't love after multiple visits. This is the kind of place I will continue to support forever! read more

If I could give this place 10 stars I would. We come here weekly, and it always gets better and better! The food is incredible, the flavor is amazing. They put a lot of love into the cooking of their food. The service is something that's hard to find nowadays... I truly feel like this is the best service I've seen in my days of dining out. This place is SO AWESOME! WAY BETTER THAN CHIPOTLE! Reminds me of those authentic little restaurants in Playa Del carmen, Mexico. Awesome burritos, tacos and more. I love their meats they are seasoned perfectly! Especially the Barbacoa shredded beef and the Carnitas (pork), chicken is great too! It's very well priced so it doesnt break the bank! And the quality is always on point! I love that they use sustainable products and source their meat and ingredients locally, the owner has a true passion for food and it shows! This is my new favorite spot! Our family loves great food and great service and Nopalito's checks both of those boxes! The staff was so friendly and very helpful! They answered all our questions with smiles (well I could tell they were smiling behind their masks).. anyways, I ordered the beer battered fish tacos Baja style and they were DELICIOUS! My mouth is watering just thinking about them.. my husband got the shrimp tacos which were great also but our favorite was the fish tacos! My daughter loved her cheese quesadilla and quac! We have already been back multiple times and had the same top quality service and food each time! We recently tried their breakfast burritos (bacon and chorizo), so satisfying and filling! I also love that they are kinda tucked away and hidden and away from huge crowds which makes for a great, safe dining experience. read more

My family and I traveled from the Houston area for vacation to Boulder. We had been wanting some good Mexican food and this place did not disappoint! The owner was very friendly on the phone before we arrived. He gave us all of the condiments we needed and even a few beers! We had the fish tacos and chicken quesadillas. Very tasty! Food is amazing here. Really unassuming place but don't be fooled. Today I went back to eat there again, even rode my bike 10 minutes to get there. When i got there, they were out of chicken, but the staff was so nice and apologetic I didnt even mind. Good service goes a long way and this crew obviously hired right! Will be back. read more

Meet the Business Owner: MIlton G.

I’m Milton, born and raised in El Salvador, and my wife Dora is a proud Californian with family roots in Zacatecas, Mexico. Together, we blended our backgrounds and passion for authentic flavors to create Nopalitos—a Mission-style Mexican kitchen with a Baja California twist. Since opening in 2019, and now at our home inside the 29th Street Mall, our goal has always been simple: serve bold, vibrant food made with care and real ingredients. From our beer-battered fish tacos and chipotle shrimp to house-made salsas and refreshing margaritas, every dish is crafted with love. It has been years since I've eaten here, and since we had friends in town, we decided to stop by. We found free and easy street parking nearby, and after a 20 minute wait, we were seated in the front sun-porch area. We ordered beignets to start (comes with 4 per order), a latte, 2 eggs Benedict, and 2 po' boys. We also got 2 cups of gumbo. Everything was delicious, and we loved the biscuits that came with the gumbo cups! The issue was that we asked for one of the po' boys to come without mayo, and our server did not hear that request. Now, it's totally fine and understandable to make a mistake, not hear something, or even forget. However, what was particularly strange and frankly inappropriate was that when the food came and we gently pointed out that we had asked for no mayo on one of the po' boys, our server got upset with us and said "no, you actually did not say that." We thought she was joking or trying to be funny, so we uncomfortably looked around and gently told her we had asked, and all of us remember the request being made. She then rolled her eyes, laughed under her breath, and then smiled sweetly and said "alright, we're going to have to remake one po' boy, no mayo." The name of our server that was on our receipt said Nicole, and they had a large tattoo of what looked to be a pinecone on their right forearm. For the rest of our dining experience, our server made really uncomfortable remarks regarding the po' boy (ex. "Is this po' boy better for you?") to the point where it really soured our experience. I can understand having a bad day or being overwhelmed in the middle of a busy shift, but being rude to someone is truly never acceptable. Whether you didn't hear a request being made, forgot about it, or even if it was a last-minute request, being in a customer-facing role means trying to accommodate those requests to the best of your ability, NOT being mean. Other diners also noticed this and told us they had heard us specifically ask for no mayo, which was validating to hear. Really not sure if we will ever go back, which is a shame because the food is tasty.

We thought we had everything arranged for food and drinks, but when I arrived to get things ready, I discovered there had been a communication mix-up with the hotel and there was virtually no food available. With about 60 people expected, I was starting to panic! Thankfully, two of our bridesmaids found Ayayay Tacos, and the manager and staff came to our rescue! At the last minute, they put together an amazing taco bar for our group. They could easily have said it was too much to take on with so little notice, but instead, they stepped up and made it happen. And the food was AMAZING! Fresh, warm tortillas, delicious queso and salsas, and plenty of chicken, beef, and pork for everyone. Our guests were happy, everyone had plenty to eat, and what could have been a very stressful situation turned into a wonderful evening. What really made this experience special was the kindness and willingness of this family-owned restaurant to help us out when we really needed it. They went above and beyond, and we are so grateful! We are local, and Ayayay Tacos has definitely earned our business. If you haven't tried them yet, do yourself a favor and go! We can't thank them enough for helping make our daughter's wedding weekend start off on such a positive note.

Classic is this two lines for two registers or a zipper merge situation? But in the meantime.....$6.50 per empanada? Holy f*ck, These must be some awesome empanadas given how busy the place is. Placed our order, got a couple of Quilmes and joined my partner on the patio with Thor the menacing bijon Shih Tzu. The food took forever to arrive and what was once a full patio was half empty. Part of the appeal of an empanada is instant gratification of ordering and moments later having a warm morsel of goodness arrive. 30 minutes for 4 empanadas!?? They arrive. The filling is tasty but the skin isn't holding up to the grease. Flavorful but $6.50 flavorful? Not after a 30 minute wait. In retrospect while researching empanadas in Boulder, there was a Reddit post saying they were looking for a good empanada that wasn't Rincon. My fear is that their popularity led to over commercialization and increased prices. But the filling is tasty!
