Where do I begin, other than with the premise that I never--ever--write reviews, but this one is well deserved. My roommate and I originally teamed up with Christian D. in August to find an apartment in Brooklyn. Towards the end of the process, we were transferred over to another agent who listed the unit to sign our lease. Unfortunately, this experience was a nightmare, even for NYC standards. We ended up dealing with multiple ceiling leaks, black mold, extensive water and property damage, and various other issues. Eventually, we had a leak in every room of the apartment, so we were left with no option but to end our lease a month after initially signing it. With what felt like zero options, we reached out to Christian again. While Christian had no legal obligation or otherwise to help us, she worked with us around the clock--literally taking our phone calls at 10:30PM on a Sunday and maintaining texting and email communications all day long. She took us apartment viewing ASAP to get us out of our old apartment, negotiated with our new landlords to get us into the new place ASAP, and when we were stuck at work during the only available timeframe to have our new lease signed, rode her bike from Bushwick--Midtown--Downtown--Williamsburg to present us with the lease, deliver it, and made sure each party signed on time. A true superwoman, committed to going above and beyond for her clients, Christian is kind, incredibly friendly, and hardworking. Nooklyn is lucky to have her, and so were we. We cannot not recommend her services more, and will be referring everyone we know to work with her the next time they need a new apartment. read more

Nooklyn is a GREAT service to use if you are looking for the perfect apartment in Brooklyn. Even though the first agent we connected with did not make it to our appointment, Romy was able to listen to everything we wanted and take us to some amazing apartments. She was so friendly and listened to us be crazy people discussing the endless list of things we liked/ did not like about each apartment. The whole staff went out of their way to make the process of getting the apartment as smooth as possible. Would definitely reccommend!! read more

DON'T PUT DOWN A DIGITAL DEPOSIT THROUGH YOUR BANK, if there is a chance you might not get the place/apartment and you will need to work with someone other than Nooklyn. They won't give it back. If I could go back in time and prevent myself from doing business with Nooklyn, I would. I will start with "The Broker" whose name I will not mention or bash. He only was able to show me ONE apartment within my criteria, I knew I was asking for a lot, but there were at least 10 other listings in the area within my price range. He pressured me to put a deposit on the apartment and apply, so I did. It really seemed as if he would do anything to get us our apartment, which apparently included removing our pets from the application. Long story short- we were approved for that one apartment and then suddenly unapproved because of our pets. We didn't find out we lost the apartment until after I had flown out of NY. I was left scrambling to find another apartment with just 6 days before our lease ended and now I wasn't in NY anymore, I was back in the state I lived in and packing up my things. Now I will talk about the customer service/complaints. I contacted the company and asked who I could make a formal complaint to. Of course, there is no phone number, so I could only email someone. THEY FORWARDED IT TO THE BROKER AND HE CALLED ME. Talk about awkward and uncomfortable. He asked me why I was making a complaint. I told him I just wanted my deposit and money back and he said he would initiate a refund. I received an email stating the money would be returned to me in 5-10 business days (over $2000) that's a long time to go without the money when you are trying to move. I waited about 7 days before emailing customer service, concerned that I would not receive my money-NO RESPONSE. Another email on day 9-Still NO RESPONSE. Finally, a last attempt on the 10th business day- NO REPLY. I had to file a dispute with my bank to get the company to even acknowledge my existence. They said I could go pick up a check at their office or have it mailed. I am sticking with my dispute, who knows if the check would actually be there, or worse, bounce...I don't trust this company at all. I worked with Eric in Nooklyn and this review is based on our experience working with him. This is a bit on the longer side but so is my frustration. In feb 2013 my friend and I started apartment hunting for a April 1st move-in. We had a friend who lived in the same building where the Nooklyn office is and we liked the place very much. Our friend told us that nooklyn was handling all the rental process for the building and so we walked into the office and met Eric, who told that us there were no units available. He suggested us to look at other options in the area and said he would help us find some nice places. However, he also said it was too early to be searching for a april move-in in feb and told us to wait till the first week of march as a whole bunch of places would hit the market then. Eric also told us what to expect at different price points. Impressed by what our money was buying us we gave Eric our criteria, which was to find a loft similar to our friend's, and suspended our search relying on Eric to find us our future home. I kept checking their website around the 1st of march and there were not too many new postings. At the same time we found out that there was an open house in the nooklyn building which we were interested in through our friend. So we called up Eric and he asked us to come meet him at his office. He showed us a few places but didn't mention the open house. So after all the viewings we asked him about the open house and told him to get it for us. He said he would try. That was his first mention/acknowledgement of the existence of the open house. This was really weird because any other broker would have informed us before hand and would have taken it off the market if we agreed to pay the rent the landlord demanded. But as we learned later Nooklyn was not to keen on letting us get the unit and they started a bidding war between the interested parties. When Eric told me that the only way to get the unit was to beat the highest bid I said I would do it. I still didn't get the place and Eric's explanation was he couldn't take our offer since we didn't attend the openhouse and that it was a requirement that we put in an application there and calling with an offer was not going to do it. I guess he didn't realize about the existence of such a rule when we told him a day beforehand that we won't be able to come but would put in an offer ,or even on the day of the open house when we called him. Since we were determined to get the place I called up the landlord and asked him to see if he could get our application approved as we have friends in the building and we were interested since a long time. The landlord tried, but apparently Nooklyn had the right to screen and filter out offers and our offer was not even presented to the landlord. Anyway, Eric said he would show us something similar and setup an appointment which he failed to keep. We finally figured its an absolute waste of time working with them and started looking on our own. After we started our own search we realized that even the couple places that Eric showed us were not their exclusive listings but some management company. I also learned that its not too early to start the search a couple months in advance. If you read the review this far here's a tip : go online search on streeteasy.com and nakedapartments.com. It takes you straight to owner listings or exclusive broker listings and helps you avoid worthless brokers. read more

Had a very friendly agent who helped me find a great apartment. I put down the deposit and moved in, and then found out there was no hot water or gas. I had been told by the agent that utilities were included. They were not. So I set up an account with National Grid but we still had to stay 5 days in the apartment with no hot water, heat, or working stove. Luckily it was the summer. And now I have an extra utilities bill to worry about. If I had just been told in advance how the system actually worked all this could have been avoided. read more

saw a listing of nooklyn on zillow. did a google maps street view and the place was a two family home building- exactly what my husband and I wanted after numerous experiences in large multi level multi unit apartments that are under cared for. I reached out and when I asked to see the space- and quoted the address in the zillow listing. we set up a time and confirmed back to Jen again with the address from the listing. when we arrive and I call Jen to say we are outside the address she tells me no I have the wrong address- it's actually across the street- in a dilapidated large multi unit building. I told her I feel bait and switched to which she tells me I have not been bait and switched- they can't list the true address for the privacy of the landlord. what about the people at the address they quoted? their privacy doesn't mean anything? glad we didn't go up and knock on their door. next we walk up to see the space. the listing says it's over 2,000 square feet. based on the address we thought we were looking at this seemed believable although maybe a generous estimate. no, the space is 800 sq feet based on a generous eyeballing. the listing described the spaces as huge and big. I couldn't imagine fitting our queen bed and a side table in the largest of the 2 bedrooms. not huge. I asked her why it was listed at 2,000+ sq ft and she just try and dodge the questions by asking why we'd need more space that this. not a single apology for the listing being a total misrepresentation of the space. I don't know if our experience is typical of nooklyn but I can tell you Jen Charles is a bait and switcher, and has generally a bad attitude as someone in a service oriented career. we will not be giving our time to nooklyn again. read more

Dominic was the worst. He was manipulative and got really impatient when we weren't ready to sign a lease right away. We even tried to switch agents at one point but they sent us back to dominic. First person who contacted me seemed super helpful and interested and then after I wrote back stopped responding. A week later she emails me again I reply again no answer. So I get in touch with another agent she agrees to meet us at a certain time. When we are getting ready to meet her she texts 30 min before she's is going to be 30min late. We agree even though it begins to screw up our schedule for the rest of the day as we have a bunch of other viewings. We go to where we are supposed to meet her she not only doesn't show up but then tells us that that unit is no longer avaliable. So of course we were done working with Nooklyn and left. A couple hours later she texts us asking if we want to see another unit... Ummm not after you had us go way out of the way, mess up our schedule, and not even show up. Not even the slightest bit of professionalism, I do not recommend at all, waste of time. read more

Review: As you know, it can be very challenging to find a place to call your own in any of the boroughs. You may also know, that as fall and winter approaches it can be that much more of a challenge. However, when I came across a listing that Camille had listed- I contacted her; I contacted Camille, thinking that I'd have to leave her a voicemail and chase her via text to get any sort of response. Although, to my surprise, the phone rang twice and then a very friendly voice answered on the other end. I was instantaneously relieved and she had the ability to listen to my needs and help me feel calm. I have been going through a difficult time and dealing with horrible and I mean horrible roommates. I love how Camille was able to sympathize with me and also meet me on such short notice. In the end, Camille did an outstanding job communicating and kept me in the know and really kept me informed. I would highly recommend that you utilize this wonderful woman's assistance as you search for the perfect place to call, home. Good luck! read more

I had a mixed experience with Nooklyn. One agent was super polite and did try to be helpful. The second one, Meaghan, was another story. First, we met up at an apartment and the keys she had didn't work. We waited around the building for at least 30 minutes, then she had to drive back to her office to get a different key (which took another 30 minutes). When she got back and tried the second set of keys, those didn't work either so we had to sit there waiting for another 30 minutes for someone to bring a third set of keys. The waiting and back and forth wasn't even the worst part - though it highlighted the inefficiency of the agency. Through the time we spent together, Meaghan was not at all friendly. She didn't try to make polite conversation or ask me what I was looking for in an apartment to try to help find me a place. She seemed completely uninterested and occasionally condescending. After all that, we finally got into the apartment and it was DISGUSTING! I'm talking food rotting, mess entirely covering the floor, and piles of actual maggots! What kind of company wouldn't check out a listing before showing it to a client? She didn't apologize or offer any remedies. I'm the one who had to ask if she could contact building management about cleaning the unit before I could see it again (since the unit itself actually was nice). She never reached out or was proactively helpful. I asked her to let me know where the landlord stood on a cleaning and she never responded to me. It was a really poor experience and I don't recommend using the firm or this particular broker. read more

Steve at Nooklyn made our apartment hunt really easy. After getting tired of the time/effort it takes to see just one place on craigslist, we found Steve's listing. We met at the Nooklyn office, he showed us some other listings they offered and then drove us to view 3 apts that night. Steve was very responsive and his availability made scheduling around work hours easy. No fee! No bullshit! Save yourself the time, energy and stress. We highly recommend Steve and Nooklyn! read more

I worked with Caitlynn Denniston who was amazing! She was quick to respond and follow up and made herself available to show apartments without issue. We were in a rush to get an apartment for my daughter and her 2 roommates in Bushwick. Caitlynn was able to line up a number of options and we were able to see them all in one day which was great because we were looking for a quick move in date. Even after signing the lease, when we went to see the apartment the previous tenants had left the apartment filthy with furniture and garbage. Caitlynn promptly got us in touch with the property manager and the issue was quickly taken care of. She even followed up a few days later to make sure all went well. I highly recommend Caitlynn, she was easy to work with and very professional. read more

Nooklyn has been really helpful and and flexible. Danielle who helped me find a place was really great and available almost around the clock. Would definitely recommend using these guys to find a place in Brooklyn! And their website is super good and easy to use. Only downside was that our apt was pretty dirty while we moved in, which I'm not sure was Nooklyn's fault or the landlord's. Anyway, I'm happy I chose to find an apartment through them. Good find! read more

I worked with two realtors from Nooklyn, Danny and Spencer, and I wouldn't recommend either of them. Danny showed me a beautiful, well priced 4br apt. I gave him a deposit and was assured I was all set to move in by the end of June and that everything was in order. All I needed was for Spencer to email me the last form to have signed (this ended up taking weeks and was finally sent on the last day of the month). Over the next week or so Danny became increasingly difficult to get a hold of. Finally, on the day I'm supposed to move in, and one day away from my current lease expiring, Danny calls and tells me that we were never actually approved by the landlord, only the management, so there's no deal. Then I'm assured that there's an equally nice apartment for less money, that I'm already approved for, so we arrange to meet there at 5pm. This sounds incredibly suspicious, almost as if from the start they were planning to bully me into a less appealing apartment on the last day of the month when I have no options. But the truth was far worse, these two are just incredibly incompetent. On my way to meet Danny I call to confirm he'll be there (he was late the last time), but he doesn't answer and his voicemail is full. Now I call Spencer, still no answer. I start texting them both. By now it's 7PM and Danny FINALLY sends me a text saying he can't talk. I have 5 hours until I'm homeless and he can't talk? Then he claims Spencer should've told me by now that the other place didn't work out. Neither of these guys had the decency to tell me they failed to do their job and that I need to find someone who can. Because of their incompetence, I had to make a deal with my landlord to pay 1 more month's rent at an increased rate while I continued looking. When I went to pick up my deposit, they took nearly $300 out for their fees (most I've ever paid a realtor to NOT find me a home) and was assured that they would find me something in the next week and I wouldn't ever have to pay their fees again. Obviously they never called back, and honestly even if they did you couldn't pay me enough to put my trust in Nooklyn's realtors ever again. read more

I had a wonderful experience with Nooklyn. I stumbled up on the company by accident but once I sent an email Danielle got in touch with me and asked a few questions about my budget/requirements. Even though I wrote "too early" by NY apartment hunting standards, she kept her eye out for any possibility and would regularly keep in touch to send me the things that she found within my requirements. When I wanted to see a place, she was totally flexible with my crazy work schedule and never made me feel like I was inconveniencing her. Above all else, she actually listened to what I was saying. I explained that my budget was x, so depending on the broker fee the rent would have to be calculated accordingly so that x was the limit broker fee included. For the first time in real estate broker history, she genuinely stuck to my budget. Unfortunately I ended up picking an apartment outside of Nooklyn, but I highly recommend you use this company and ask for Danielle. read more

I initially had an issue with Nooklyn and gave them a pretty negative review. With in less then an hour the owner reached out to me and we were able to resolve my issue in an efficient and professional manner. After speaking with the owner I can honestly say he is passionate about his business and holds himself to a high code of business ethics, which he expects from his employees as well. He truly cares about his mission to create an easy, simple way to foster the client/broker relationship. I would recommend working with Nooklyn if you are interested in commercial or residential spaces in the Brooklyn area. read more

I rented my last two apartments in Ridgewood through Nooklyn. I found the most recent one with help from Hayley and Kate. I saw something I liked, called the number and was in the place within 30 minutes. 10 Minutes with Kate and she was able to tell exactly what I was looking for. Found my current place that same day. Hayley handled the paperwork, pretty painless, and within a few days we were approved. No complaints, no BS, good experience. 5/5. read more

I loved working with Hayley, Harley & Eric at Nooklyn & couldn't be happier with the entire experience. As far as I'm concerned, Nooklyn is the only real estate firm to deal with in NYC. You hear horror stories all the time about using a broker to find an apartment - none of that here. They're honest, upfront & really awesome people that care about finding you what you're looking for. read more

I didn't have a terrible experience with Nooklyn, but I think it's just not the appropriate firm for me and my boyfriend. The clientele seem to be on the younger side, possibly because Nooklyn has lower fees than other firms so it's less money down. I witnessed a number of brokers in action because we began at an open house of sorts, so I do know that a few of them were working really hard to get tenants moved who had signed leases for a bldg that was new and having boiler problems. So it's nice to know they weren't leaving those people out in the cold. One thing that was a bit bizarre was that I had originally spoken to one guy, who arranged to meet us. But when we showed up at the open house he wasn't there, and Christopher said he was out of town and he was going to show us around instead. It was ultimately fine, but it would have been nicer to know who we were actually going to meet. That said, Christopher is funny and honest about the neighborhood we were checking out (Bushwick). He and his wife Diana have lived there for years so they know it well. The first place we saw (the OH) was really nice but too far out for us. The second place we saw was closer to the Jefferson stop but totally not worth the money they were asking - it seemed like a really inflated price for a place that had a broken window and mouse poop on the floor. I'm guessing maybe they'd never been to that apartment - I don't know who would show it in that condition. In general, the prices Nooklyn lists seem a bit high for the area, but that could be because of the lower fees/lower amounts you have to put down (which is probably easier for people without a lot of money saved to do). Christopher and Diana did seem interested in what we wanted and also the welfare of other people (those living in units being shown and those who couldn't get in to places to show roommates the space) so that's nice. Ultimately, we didn't feel that the area was really right for us and that is one of the areas that Nooklyn focuses on. They are a younger group of realtors and it seems a bit chaotic. Perhaps I'm just old, but that's not really what I'm looking for when apartment searching. read more

My girlfriend and I were extremely let down by Nooklyn. We had to deal with so many people through the process of seeing the apartment and signing the lease that misinformation was lost in the shuffle. Our broker told us the apartment we wanted was rent stabilized and heat and hot water included. Andrew and Cory then handled the paperwork. We showed up to sign the lease only to find out no utilities were included, not even hot water. Nor is the building rent stabilized. At that point, if we backed out we would have lost our deposit. Everyone is friendly at Nooklyn until they get your money. Then they disappear into thin air. Don't believe them when they promise to "walk you thru the process" and do make sure to see your lease agreement at least a few days before you go to sign. It took a month of repeated emails before Nooklyn refunded our application fees. Still that won't cover the additional costs of paying utilities. Avoid Nooklyn and other big real estate companies like B&B Global Development. If I would had known I would be renting from B&B Global Development I never would have had an interest in the apartment. I'm sure that's why Nooklyn took every effort to hide this information from us until we went to sign the lease. Make sure you ask in advance who manages the apartment and good luck! read more

Working with Jesse to find our new apartment probably could not have been any smoother. Being the picky girls we are with a modest budget, he went out of his way to accommodate us. Within 24 hours of meeting him, we started looking at apartments that had pretty much everything we asked for (box layout, big closets, spacious living room, etc.). When we STILL weren't completely sure about our top pick, Jesse continued to search and eventually found us a GEM of a place. We also worked with Hayley during our lease signing and she was equally helpful as well! I liked working with Jesse because he really gained our trust during the entire process and went above and beyond for us not only to make a sale - but to find us exactly what we were looking for!! We love our new place and can't wait to recommend Jesse @ Nooklyn to all of our friends. read more

I typically use realtors or brokers with a healthy amount of skepticism but having had the pleasure of working with Boaz Nagasa during my recent aparmtent hunt, I can honestly say he bucks the trend and goes above and beyond what you expected. He was nothing but patient, considerate and understanding during the whole process. I was lucky to have someone so understanding and willing to explain any issues. He was tireless in his efforts to get what we wanted from the lease and still satisfy the landlord's needs. Great experience, great find, definitely go with Boaz if you happen to work with Nooklyn. read more

First yelp post, but this guy deserves it. Looking for an apartment in New York is so painful, there is no antidote. That said, after several shady broker experiences my roommate and I got in touch with Troy from Nooklyn. While he was new to the business and the city, he was great beginning to end. He listened to what we were looking for and it felt like he was in it with us, transparent and intuitive to our read on things, which is rare. Walked us through the process and kept in touch even after he got his fee to make sure things were moving forward ok, which was great. The apartment is fine minus a few issues, which I can't hold them responsible for. While I can't speak for the whole firm, Troy was a good guy to us, so would definitely recommend him as he was super friendly, a straight shooter and seemed authentically serious about working to find us a place that made sense for us. Like it was he job, who would have thought? But jokes aside, really nice guy. Thanks Troy. read more

They broke the terms of my lease and entered the apartment when no one was home and without my landlord. They didn't lock the door, left the lights on and locked my cat in a room without a litter box for an entire day. Just recently my wife and I went through the Nooklyn broker, Ryan Mclaughlin, to get our 2 bedroom apartment in Bushwick. After 2 years of bait and switch tactics we can honestly say that Ryan and Nooklyn provided the best service we've received yet in NYC (Brooklyn). The process was very professional as well as speedy as we were nearing the end of our lease and ready to move ASAP. I highly recommend Ryan and Nooklyn over any other agency I'm Brooklyn. read more

I am utterly disappointed in Nooklyn. I have spoken to five brokers now to get assistance with getting our security deposit back from our management company Kollel Bais Burech Holdings LLC and they have not been helpful at all. We moved out July 26th and are still seeking ways to get our security deposit back. Nooklyn promised us that the management company were very great with communication and highly recommended them to us. In reality they are the worst management company I have ever dealt with and have cause me so much unnecessary stress. Not only is communication non existent but we have also dealt with an aggressive property manager via text messages and having to deal with an external company that deals with the calls that come through for management. All I can ever do is just a leave a message and be left with no hope. The property manager also refuses to give us other contacts to seek out our deposit. On the other hand Nooklyn hasn't followed anything up, even though five people had promised me they would. Shame shame on all of you! read more

Honestly I feel like Nooklyn is either just negligent in screening the management companies they work with or just plain don't care if they are shady AF. I got stuck in an apartment I didn't get to see beforehand because of a series of events involving having a terrible roommate and my grandfather passing away. That's fine. That's the gamble you have to make to live in New York City but honestly this management company (Sher management) is the worst - they wouldn't fix things promptly, the person who would come to fix things was not qualified to do most things, the building was falling apart even though we were the the first tenants after a "major" renovation, which enabled them to charge us exorbitantly more rent than previous tenants but did not prevent plaster from peeling off the ceilings. The management company has an office in the Brooklyn navy yards but it would be impossible to find them if u didn't have specific directions-they have no sign out front and they are located on a second floor that you have to get buzzed into -and the buzzer was "supposedly" out of order the day I dropped in (they were expecting me). Also the check that they gave us to return our security deposit (we made that apartment look better than it did when we moved in in order to get that check) is being held by my bank for having a suspiciously inconsistent signature. Also the unit price for our 3 bedroom dropped $400 in the year we moved in and I find it hard to believe that Nooklyn didn't know that we were being way overcharged. I guess it is just business to them but I hope my review helps other people be more savvy when dealing with Nooklyn and the management companies they work with. Also, our front door was broken for a month so I ran into more than one wasted man in my small stairwell during that time including one that thought he knew the occupants of my unit (he did not) and kept banging on the door after I quickly slipped inside. read more

First off, the moment that you feel like you're stalking your realtor, you are already off to a horrible start. Which is exactly how my partner and I felt throughout the whole apartment process. We drove fourteen hours from Chicago to New York, hoping to secure an apt two weeks before we were to actually move, as suggested by all the NY realtors and landlords that we spoke with beforehand. We finally came across Nooklyn Realty and was impressed by the no fee apartment options, our personable realtor Kate and the area of Bushwick, which is where Nooklyn is located. Kate took us around and showed us three apartments. We fell head over heels for the second and last apartment that she showed us. We immediately went back to the office, drew up the papers and paid 100% cash deposit to secure the first apt and take it off the market. We were so excited! Kate told us that we should hear back in 24hrs, with a response on whether we were approved. This was great news and we sighed from relief because we had managed to secure an apartment for our family and could leave NY the next day and head back to Chicago to finish packing and whatever other business before we set out for the east coast. Kate, though, did not respond in 24hrs with a definitive answer. Matter of fact, my partner had to contact her in order to hear anything back. Repeatedly. She was very vague with her responses, which only added to the stress. We decided to spend extra money and stay an extra night at the B & B, to wait to hear back. She finally told us that the first place had already been taken. We suggested to her to use the same application and the down payment to secure the second place. It took her an additional 48hrs before she finally got back to us with a straight answer and not just her saying "It's no problem", after having to text/call countless times, she told us that the landlord needed us to pay two security deposits and was concerned about whether we would be comfortable in the living space. We told her that it was fine and let's just get the ball rolling. We of course had to go back to Chicago and just wait around, never actually getting a "yes, you were approved and here are the next steps that we need to take." Meanwhile, Kate left out of town and her texts were again very vague, lackluster and unhelpful. We finally got into town on Sunday, ready to move in and were met by a new realtor name Graham, who Kate said would help with signing the lease and getting keys. Guess what?? Graham couldn't find the keys and had to go back to the office in order to retrieve them. He apologized for the inconvenience and we waited, along with our three year old daughter for him to return. Finally, he did. We got into the apt, signed the lease and started moving in. Kate texted my partner and explained that Graham shouldn't have given us the key until we had actually payed the two security deposits. My partner immediately Chase Quickpay'd her half and took the remainder balance to the Nooklyn office. When he got there, Nate couldn't find our file because Graham hadn't given it to him and was now out of town. They however were okay with taking the rest of the balance and leaving us with a unsigned lease, which as you can imagine makes it pretty hard to turn on any utilities. All in all, very disappointed by the lack of communication, no sense of urgency; especially when a child's security is involved. read more

When my apartment went on the market Nooklyn was in charge of showing it. The same guy, Diego, who I had worked with the year before was in charge of the showing. I trusted him and gave him a key and he would show it whenever. I usually was at work when he was showing but did not think twice about that as that is how things are done in NY. I started getting texts from all these random numbers saying they were agents who worked with Nooklyn and they told me (did not ask) that they were showing my apartment. I got home one night and soon after noticed that my computer, cameras, and jewelry, among other things were stolen. Stolen!!! Not only was all the things of worth that I owned taken, but the feeling of violation was enough to make me sick. Whether it was an agent, or if they just left the door unlocked, they were the only ones with the extra key. I got in touch with Harley, the owner of Nooklyn, and he very nicely talked to me and said he would do what he could to make things right. This was over a month ago and I have heard nothing. Turned out Diego had made many copies of my key and handed them out to other agents, without me knowing. Harley was ok with that as that was part of their practice. I believed Harley would follow up on his word to help and I did not want to write this. However, he has done nothing to help me through this terrible situation and they made no offer to compensate me for my loss. read more

Very unprofessional, irresponsible brokers. Worst experience every in my life. Disaster began when we first met Rachel, the worst broker I've ever met after 6 years of living NYC. We had full apt tour scheduled on Sat night; seeing more than 5 units with James. When we met Rachel in the afternoon before the evening apt tour (and she came in late), we mentioned about the apt tour in the night. She says she knows James and they work at the same company. She greedily texted the other broker and insisted that she needs to take a tour instead of James. She erratically changed all the routine and schedule that we had previously discussed with James. We were very uncomfortable with that but we wanted to see the units so we said yes. Once we arrived at the place 10 minutes past the scheduled time, she had left already saying that she needs to meet the other people. Nonsense since we were to meet more than 2 hours. Messed up whole evening schedule, made us walk in the rain, and didn't even show any of the apt. She didn't even try to come back. We heard background noises, which sounded like a bar/pub. Worst broker and Worst brokerage firm that I've ever experienced in NYC and my life. Very unprofessional, irresponsible brokers. read more

I moved a year ago and am moving again in a couple weeks so I've gotten to know quite a few brokers and realty shops. If you move a few times you'll probably realize there are common problems with realtors and the entire process as a whole. For one thing everything is too expensive, rents are high and they charge fees that are, at minimum one months rent, for being sort of gatekeepers to access to apartments. Given this reality, it's easy to get frustrated with a broker. Also, they are salespeople and no reasonable person should ever completely trust a broker. The things that are fair to judge them on is whether they actually have access to places that fit your criteria, actually pay attention to your criteria, are generally polite and respectful, and are not so stupid they try to sell obvious flaws as charming qualities (many try to do this). Nooklyn was pretty decent in all these respects. We didn't wind up using them but only because we realized bushwick wasn't for us. Still, for a real estate company, they seemed fine. We worked with Hayley, who was among the better brokers I've worked with. read more

I used to like this place and still have a friend that works here but I will specifically not be working with them again. They have no ethics. No problem renting out rooms for landlords that were constructed illegally and have no windows, they act like this is legal but it is not and I am sick of having these illegal rooms pushed on us and charged at market rate. Of the two places I got with them they both had illegal rooms, the first of which also had an awful absent landlord and a roof that started leaking (pouring water in) who wouldn't do anything about it. The second also had a nightmare landlord who would harass us (even to the point of getting nooklyn involved to undermine us in the middle of our lease) and the hot water was intermittent because the apartment was illegally constructed and overdrew on the building. They are a nice looking facade but do not care about the standards of the apartments they rent or the landlords they rent for, avoid them. read more

hayley is awesome. unlike other realtors I met with, she has a very relaxed vibe. she's patient and won't push apartments on you just to make a sale - she waits and listens to what you're interested in and then finds that apartment. she's honest - doesn't push things on you just to create a false sense of urgency, but does tell you if a place will go off the market quickly. furthermore, she's really committed to satisfying her clients - when one of our roommates dropped out and we had to find a replacement, she showed our place to each prospective subletter. I'm now living in the best apartment I've ever lived in, thanks to hayley read more

got my current place through this company & they were very responsive and honest while i was searching and applying. this apt was listed with several brokers & while the landlord was paying the broker fee certain other realtors tried to claim that i'd have to pay it, & nooklyn did not do so. was moving out of a total failure of an apartment where i was kicked out after just a year because of a dishonest landlord who had claimed at lease signing that she'd renew my lease as long as i paid rent on time etc [guidelines i strictly followed only to have them refuse to renew my lease]. Rebecca & Chris were able to get me a 2-year lease for which i was very grateful. can't give 5 but would like to give 4.5 stars because the apartments they list tend to be on the pricier side - may be due to some kind of quality guidelines or other legitimate reason but this place was definitely toward the upper end of my affordable range and about as far east as i was willing to look. still, i've got a nice place now for at least 2 and hopefully more years so i'm happy. 4.5 for sure read more
