This is a scam. Do not rent an apartment from Katarina or Marek. After we moved in, they tried to make us pay an extra 1k for the washer and dryer that were already in the unit and were included in the apartment. After moving out over 6 months ago, we still haven't received our security deposit. She claims to have mailed it but refuses to send tracking numbers or zelle/venmo instead. We are out thousands of dollars now because of her and won't get it back until it's resolved in court. Search Katarina and Marek on reddit to read even worse experiences. Stay away from Katarina and Marek Kaczor. It was bad news from the start--when Katarina came to have my roommates and I sign a lease, she literally yelled at us in the hallway because one of my roommates had requested to see the lease over email before we signed it. Her behavior was incredibly unprofessional and struck me as bizarre and unhinged. I signed the lease because she had waited until the last day possible to get it to us and we didn't have any other options. As for Marek, the landlord, he flooded our apartment while doing construction, we had to throw out most of our furniture, two laptops, and basically had a day to find a new apartment because of the devastating mold situation. He was a completely negligent landlord and I had to hassle him to even get our deposits back despite the fact that we were facing couch surfing if we couldn't find a new apartment within a day because water was POURING DOWN THE WALLS. After living in an apartment managed by Katarina for 3 years, I feel the need to warn others who are considering living at a property owned by Marek Kaczor or managed by Katarina Golianova. Do not do it. The headache and stress over getting anything at all done, from lightbulbs to locks, rodents to quite dangerous situations is simply unnecessary and you will not experience it at other homes. Katarina will attack you and gaslight you, and Marek will laugh at her behavior saying he knows she is "the way she is" but he thinks its "funny" to see her freak out at tenants. Here's some things to consider when looking to sign a lease at a property "managed" by Katarina: 1. You may be paying for an entire building's electric for three years, we did. Thank you to Con Edison for refunding us in full and re-billing it to Marek Kaczor after inspection of the illegal wiring. 2. You may not have a lock on an exterior door -- our apartment unit had direct access to the unlocked roof hatch and we only got a lock after a year of badgering for it. 3. You may have someone break into the building, shatter glass, and then be told to "move" if you feel unsafe because the lock will not be repaired for a week unless we want to pay for it ourselves. 4. You may be yelled at IN CAPITAL LETTERS anytime you email Katarina for even simple questions. 5. Your rent check may get lost... No, really. Ours did at least 3 times in 3 years. Seems okay until you then have to start paying for certified checks and mail just to be sure they are delivered. 6. You may be called irresponsible and disrespectful because you want garbage cans for the building. 7. You will be responsible for sweeping, shoveling, cleaning, and maintaining the hallways and front steps and sidewalk. And yelled at when the sanitation leaves multiple tickets that go ignored by the landlord. ... Just don't live there. Note: Email me if you'd like any screenshots of countless emails or recorded phone conversations where Katarina or Marek was yelling at us. Only saying that because Katarina will respond to this and claim none of the above is true. And it is. (Oh, by the way, if you're wondering why she seems to have good reviews here and on every other site why don't you sort by lowest ratings. Katarina helped us find a nice apartment in Greenpoint, and was very personable when dealing with us and walked us through the lease signing with ease. We were able to find a nice place, and go through the paperwork process very quickly and we had the keys within a couple of days. MOST IMPORTANTLY AND WHY SHE GET'S 5 STARS: We have been struggling to get our security deposit back (we moved out summer of 2016) for nearly a year now, and had no success getting any response from the landlord. I've been living in an apartment managed by Katarina for almost 3 years now, and have always found her to be communicative and helpful. She's not the LL, and so is not responsible for doing the maintenance on the buildings, fixing leaky ceilings, etc. But she has always helped me to contact the LL, make sure he knows about and addresses problems. She responds quickly to my messages -- it's so nice to know when something's going wrong, and I can't get in touch with the LL or I have a question I can just text Katarina and get an answer. Recently, I decided I wanted to downsize, and Katarina was so accomodating in my new apartment search. She and the LL are very understanding, enabling me to move from one their apartments I have loved for almost 3 years to a new smaller one I'm just as excited about, without having to stress about the terms of my old lease. We recently renewed our lease at one of Katarina's building's for the fourth year in a row. We're very satisfied! She is quick to communicate with us the rare times we have had any issue with the apartment - for instance, our hot water was out earlier this year (every apartment in our building has its own boiler) and she quickly sent a plumber over to deal with it. Saw her post on the window (located of L train/Metropolitan stop) and called her up. I was in a pinch to get some documents notarized, but I was also really busy that I could not meet in her office. She offered to come by my office to notarize them all at no additional cost :) Considering it's only $2.00 for each notarized page (and I only had 8 pages), she was really sweet to stop by our office on a cold and raining Monday. These guys have been managing the building I lived in until recently for quite some time. All I have is good things to say about them, and more specifically Katerina. If anything went wrong Katerina would see to it personally that it would be fixed. She'd come around at any time of the day or night to see what the issues were and would get the right people in to resolve those issues quickly and promptly. I am the owner of an apartment in a 6 unit building in Greenpoint. Finding a good management company for a building our size in NYC is a near impossible task, but with Brooklyn Prime we have done it. Katarina is honest, efficient, takes pride in her work, and most importantly CARES about the properties she represents. So Katarina was our realtor for finding our amazing apt in greenpoint at a great price. However she is much more than that. Being in NYC 2 years and wanting to move somewhere conveinient but nice, and a bigger space this time and without a big realty involved was our plan. We didn't want to pay hefty fees etc. It takes time to find a good deal and I noticed katarina's ads on CL. First thing I liked was the amazing amount of clear photos, what you see is what you get. I totally don't waste my time on ad's with one pic or no pics! And you feel when you see the apt its even better than the pics as the pics are quite clear. She also includes floor plans with the photo's so you can understand the layout before you visit. She showed us three apts and was not pushy in the slightest like most agents are, giving us time to decide on whether they were suitable. She listened to our grievances in regards to why the first place we looked at was not suitable and made suggestions, such as places closer to a subway etc. We decided quickly on the apt we wanted and whilst we were looking for a no fee, this apt came with a fee however she negotiated it to such a small price that we realized in the world of fee apt's there is no way you would pay such a low fee so we were ok with it. (Obviously this was suited for this particular apt however other apts she has may be different in regards to negotiations, we were lucky). We also have unique requirements and being new to the country she helped us with paperwork and all that comes with trying to get an apt in NYC, she is happy to hear whatever your requests or needs may be and advise you on the best move. After moving in because the previous tenant had been here 7 years there was obviously going to be some minor issues, and swapping out old equipment and she has been really quick and prompt to respond to these requests and get the super out to handle these issues asap, so it's been a painless and smooth transition. We will definitely be keeping up our relationship with Katarina in the future in regards to this apt and any other move we may require, however we are pretty pleased with our place right now. read more

Wish I could give negative stars. This awful woman I dealt with seemed nice enough at first. Until she realized she wasn't getting her way. The friendliness she had was sickeningly fake and incredibly forced. It was like a switch went off the moment I disagreed with her. If you need a realtor who will toss around useless knowledge without any consideration for your needs then this is the place to go. This realtor has only money on their mind. The only review of Brooklyn Prime listed was of a renter's so as a landlord/agent I didn't know what to expect. The apartment was empty for so long because of all the renovations we did so we wasted a lot of time and money on the apartment and I wanted to rent it out right away!! I actually called up a few realtors and out of all of them, Katarina was the best and fastest! The other realtors didn't even have a chance. She came in, took some pictures and had someone looking at it the very next day!!!! We filled the place so quick it was hard to believe! She handled all the necessary paperwork so we didn't have to worry our heads about it. She did all she could to find us the best tenant and while it's still to early to tell if it's true, she did all the necessary checks etc. to find us one. I would definitely use her again the next time an apartment opens up. The previous reviewer was right about her being honest, she told me how much rent she felt was fair (luckily we were right on target) and what things needed to be fixed (luckily it was minor things). It was because she was so candid and honest with me that I would do business with her again. Note: when I read reviews and I only see that one person is being reviewed I get a little weird-ed out by it but it seems to be a small business which is why I felt the huge customer service doing business with her. I know her colleague travels a lot so in the future I do expect to only see reviews about her on this site...I hope this helps others who feel the same way I do when reading these reviews. read more

Katarina is the absolute WORST building manager we have ever had. We lived in one of the buildings she manages in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. She is a rude, irresponsible, aggressive manager. We needed her assistance through a fire in our building that burned half a floor (with no working fire alarms in the hallways), through contaminated water situation, mice, leaks, and so on. Not once has she tried to solve a problem. She would throw the problem right back at the tenant, and used bullying language to scare you from writing her again. We became very close friends with many tenants in our building who experienced that same attitude, and resorted to solve problems alone, including paying out of pocket, rather than deal with her attitude. The building was not cleaned once for the years we lived there and was unsanitary, although repeatedly asked from her by all tenants. She was the reason we eventually decided to not renew our lease and leave the building. Old buildings are beautiful, we've always and still do rent apartments in them, but they do bring issues once in a while, and you simply cannot live there if the person managing them does not want to attend any of the issues that arise. We are very happy at our new place, with our wonderful new landlord and management. I would HIGHLY recommend not using her as your building's manager or realtor. read more

My boyfriend and I were able to find a great apartment with Katarina of Brooklyn Prime. I liked her from the start: she was very honest before I even came to look at the apartment about what it had and what it didn't. It really seemed like she didn't want to waste anyone's time. She was also really helpful with the paperwork and application process. And, she didn't disappear (like most brokers) after we had signed the lease: she met up with us on move-in day to give us the keys, and 2 weeks later helped us with a tricky situation involving Time-Warner installation. I'd definitely call Bk Prime the next time I'm looking for an apartment (which probably won't be for a few years because our new place is so awesome!). read more
