I found an awesome apartment listing on nakedapartments.com and contacted the broker listed - Eddie from Brooklyn Blocks Real Estate. This was my very first time searching for apartments ever and I truly did not know what to expect and was nervous for the entire process up until the moment I confessed to Eddie that my roommates and I were not exactly sure what to look for in each apartment. As soon as I told Eddie that my roommates and I were new to the apartment-hunting world, he lit up and wholeheartedly took on the role of a trusted guide through this confusing process. He encouraged us to take our time to look through apartments in different neighborhoods. He answered every single one of our questions (and we had A LOT) even including ones about Real Estate in the city in general and the difference between pre-war and post-war apartments. He laughed and joked with us, he listened to all of our priorities and what we liked and didn't about each place, he made sure to stay at or below our price range for every apartment, and he even pointed us to a great bar to get a feel for the neighborhood after Day 1 of the search. I didn't end up renting through Eddie due to an unexpected roommate issue and, while I was so heartbroken that my plans in the gorgeous apartments that I viewed fell through, the aspect I was most upset about was not getting to rent through Eddie. I can't imagine a Real Estate Agent who I would've trusted more to get us in the best place possible. I could not have had a more enjoyable, stress-free, and just plain ol' fun experience. LANDLORDS & TENANTS BEWARE; I am a Landlord who is in the process of renting a 1 bedroom apartment in Prospect Heights. I first made contact with Brooklyn Blocks Real Estate after I posted my Apt for rent on Craigs List. I initially spoke with Keith Frazier. The very first thing that I said to Keith was that I will not give an exclusive and If you're still interested in finding a tenant, you are more than welcome. Keith said the Joey Silberman was going to handle this and he will contact me. I spoke with Joey and he made an appointment to take pictures and said that he would post it on "StreetEasy". Up until now, everything was going just fine. Things started to go wrong, when I questioned certain things like posting the apartment as a studio, since this is a one bedroom. The other thing I had a problem with, was getting him to write in application "NO SMOKING". His excuse for this was that his software is so sophisticated that it would not allow him to make changes. At one point, he text me saying that they all don't smoke. We had a good turnout for the first days, but most of the applications were not complete and so I asked him if he looked at them before sending them to me . Finally I had one applicant left and he required additional information. I told Joey that on Friday and Saturday I have others showing the apartment and at that time I will make a decision. Joey immediately placed on "StreetEasy" that the apartment is "in contract". I know this because one of the people who came to see the apartment on Friday, said to me that she was reluctant to come as this is posted on SteetEasy. I wrote on StreetEasy that I would like to know who wrote this and I never received an answer. Joey writes an email to me stating that he filed charges against me for not accepting a black person. He doesn't say that we both agreed that the application was not filled out properly and this person signed where it says that all the information is true to the best of her knowledge. He tells me that he did not have to explain why she declined, because she found another apartment. I said that's fine with me and we moved on. I did tell Joey that I would not have had any problems telling her the reason why she was declined. A few day later, I decided to check the "StreetEasy" website again and it was closed. I decided to backtrack and I find that he posted that the apartment was rented. To say the least this is highly unethical. I want certain things on the application, because everyone should know exactly was is required of them. I learned early on when a Realtor did not say "No Smoking" when it came time to sign the lease the person refused to sign because he is a smoker and he should have been told before hand. I had to agree with him and the Realtor returned his deposit without any questions. This is a Realtor who has no ethics, except renting an apartment and the letting the Landlord and the Tenant work it out later. This is why anyone looking for an apartment, should know in advance that this Realtor is deceitful. If you still wish to try them, be particularly careful of Joey. If you contradict him or ask too many questions he will try to get even with you May you all find peace and happiness in your next apartment--this is what everyone should have. read more

I cannot tell you the weight he lifted off of our shoulders because we all know the hunt for Apts is a nightmare in NYC! And NO FEE! Mike!!!!! The most amazing man in the New York real estate market. He is patient kind and really good at what he does. We set up a meeting a month in advance to find a place in the Crown Heights area. Mike met us promptly and showed us around the neighborhood and really gave us a good insight into every block and apartment. The NYC Apartment Hunger Games--it's a hard nock life--but Mike was the fistmele that got us to the perfect spot. He's very professional, super nice, honest and definitely helped make the best of the dreaded game we have to play. I've dealt with my fair share of NYC realtors and real estate firms, and this was definitely better than even some of the bigger names. We had our eyes set on a certain listing (and luckily we got it, and we love it here!) but upon checking out the rest of his listings, seemed like he also had a very well curated selection of other units that were also really well, and accurately, photographed and documented. The videos helped a lot too since 1. you actually know it's real haha and 2. you can get a much better idea of whether or not it works for you, which saves everyone's time! When it got down to brass taxes, he was there to hold our hands during the gritty lease signing in his cool new office. He went out of his way to make accommodations for us, and was super flexible throughout, so I'm really glad we got to close the deal with him in the end. JOEY! Working with Joey was great. Looking for an apartment anywhere in NYC sucks. We had some uneven and discouraging experiences with a handful of brokers during our search for a new place around Ditmas Park. We came across Joey at Brooklyn Blocks Real Estate by accident. Admittedly, my husband and I are tough customers; we scour every database the city maintains on buildings and owners in order to make the most informed decision for our family. Many brokers see clients such as us as high maintenance because we are meticulous renters and pepper brokers and landlords with questions--some tough, but most straight-forward. Unlike our prior experiences, Joey was not only responsive to our long list of queries but he also never deferred to the landlord in answering them. This was a signal to us that Joey had built a sufficiently strong connection with his landlord client that speaking to Joey was as though we were speaking to the landlord.
