My fiancé and I just moved to NYC from Puerto Rico. To be honest, when we started looking for apartments in Brooklyn, we were determined not to pay a broker fee and spent entire weekends researching neighborhoods and apartments. She was very helpful in narrowing down our search and most importantly, was always honest and straightforward with us. We never felt like she was trying to take advantage of us (being newcomers and all) and was never pushy, like other brokers can be. And she was soooo patient with us, even when we wanted to keep looking at different types of apartments, even though the first one she showed us satisfied all of our wants and needs. (In fact, that was the one we ended up getting!) We really appreciated that. She even helped us find a bank that was open on a Sunday to help us get the cashiers check we needed to reserve the apartment before we flew back home. Hands down the best experience I've ever had in the past 6 years I've lived in NYC. Moved to the city a while ago and was jumping around from apartment to apartment dealing with crazy roommates, landlords, and insane moving fees. Most people find real estate leasing agents through apartment listings, but we went the opposite route and researched real estate agencies with knowledge of the neighborhoods we wanted to focus on, and then contacted them directly. All were friendly and responsive but Hillel Realty Group was a step above. Tomer Hillel called me back from his vacation to assure me that he would personally follow up with a member of his team to get the ball rolling. Within hours we had heard from Ben Kim, who grew up in NYC and knows Queens intimately. Ben had a building for us to look at within hours of our initial contact and made all arrangements.
