I had a very negative experience with Nooklyn and particularly with the agent that we worked with at the Bushwick office. The agent is supposed to polish your application and address any gaps before presenting it to the listing agent who then presents it to the landlord. However, our agent did not do that. When we found an apartment we wanted to apply for he did not address the gaps in our application until after we were rejected. We worked with this agent for about a month and I have to say it was an unhealthy relationship. He basically convinced us that we won't find anyone that will rent to us because we don't have great credit although we had an amazing guarantor, and that we should settle to any place that accepts us. He was very pushy and when we changed our mind about an apartment that we did get approved for, he became very angry and refused to respond to my text messages regarding getting my deposit back. I had to call the office and after several phone calls for about 4 days I finally got my deposit back. We did finally move into our new home on June 1st and we got a beautiful and super affordable apartment in Bedstuy. We found it through Subway Management so I highly recommend working with them. Our agent Ari went out of his way to help us make our application strong and close any gaps so that we would get approved. Bottom line we should have stopped working with Nooklyn from the first time our application got rejected. I definitely did not get a good feeling from our agent and I should have listened to my intuition. My best advice for anyone that is looking for an apartment, is don't let anyone make you feel bad about your income or credit or anything else about you, and if they do that that's a sign that you should walk away (just like with any abusive relationship). Looking back we shouldn't have just relied on Nooklyn, we should have continued using other agents and other companies. However, hindsight is 20/20. And thankfully our story has a happy ending. Finding the right housing and dealing with the layers of bureaucracy is challenging. It's not your fault. Keep your head up. It will work out. read more

I worked with Nooklyn about a year ago, so it's possible that things have changed since then, but reading the reviews I guess I shouldn't have. My roommates and I worked with Gift. Gift was straight up shady and when we pushed back became incredibly rude and inappropriate. 1) The three of us found the apartment separately and didn't know each other prior to moving in. She told us each different move-in dates. She told me we could move in as early as October 15, she told my other roommates it was available November 1. 2) She also told my roommates our lease would start on October 15, so we would pay 1 month on October 15 and then not owe anything until November 15. In fact, our lease started November 1 and we owed 1 month on October 15 and then a half month on November 1 (so, we would owe 1.5 month rent plus our security deposit by November 1. 3) My one roommate informed her that she would really struggle to get that much money together by November 1 and asked if we could possibly change the least to start November 1. Gift claimed that the landlords had already agreed to the October 15 deadline and was angry that we were asking to change it. She refused to give us the information to contact the landlord, claiming that he was really annoyed with us and would not allow her to let us contact him. 4) Gift then called me to say that my roommate (whom I had never met, remember) was being difficult and that I should agree to pay her rent so we could move in. To be clear: the leasing agent I was working with called me and tried to bully me into lending money to someone I had never met. 5) She told us the landlord would not be coming to our lease signing because he was angry with us about trying to change the lease from October 15 to November 1. 6) She told us our apartment would be ready and cleaned by October 15. It wasn't. 7) After moving in, we received notice from our landlord that they wanted to meet with us. They told us that the apartment was not meant to be available until November 1, that they had never before had tenants sign a lease before they had had a chance to meet them and go over the lease with them, and that they only agreed to it because they were told we were desperate (we weren't- I would have simply found an apartment that was available on October 15, no big deal). 8) My roommate and I both called Nooklyn multiple times to complain about Gift and basically were just told "Oh, that sucks. I'm sorry you had that problem". We talked to multiple people and no one really seemed to care that our leasing agent had repeatedly lied to us and bullied us into taking the apartment. Now, it could be that she doesn't work there anymore, I don't know. But nothing in the way we were treated gave any indication that they were concerned with her behavior at all. Seems like a bunch of kids with no parents running around doing whatever they want. read more

I would give 0 stars if I could. Long story short, I viewed an apartment that was tenant occupied and put a deposit down. Before signing the lease on the day my agreement was supposed to start, I went to view what was supposed to be my apartment, and the previous tenants were still living in there. The place was filled to the brim with garbage, like bags on bags and loose litter literally everywhere. There were rotting carcasses of dead rats littered throughout, and a few crack pipes. I obviously did not want to rent this, and still have't received my deposit of over 2000$ back yet, after weeks of multiple employees dodging my texts, emails, and phone calls. If you do rent from here, MAKE SURE YOU VIEW YOUR APARTMENT BEFORE SIGNING THE LEASE - BECAUSE THEY WON'T. read more

Note: We didn't find our apartment through Nooklyn, but they were the greatest people we worked with throughout our crazy apartment hunt, and I wish we could have given them our business. Even when we had to back out of our deal, they refunded all of our money and were incredibly professional. The story: We found Kate through a Craigslist posting at midnight and texted her to set a viewing up for the next morning. Incredibly, she responded immediately and instead of just seeing that one apartment, she invited us to the office to pick out other listings we could see at the same time. There were 3 or 4 great listings, and she drove us around the area to see all of them. We found one we liked and were ready to put down an offer, but as NYC housing has it, someone snatched it up literally minutes before we were going to. Kate offered to let us put down a backup deposit so that we would be next in line for the apartment (in the case that the first person's application was denied), and we happily did so. However, since we were in a time crunch to get an apartment, we continued looking for backup places. A few hours after putting down the backup deposit with Nooklyn, another brokerage offered us an incredible deal that we had to put a deposit on immediately as well. This deal ended up going through, and even though the original applicant at the Nooklyn apartment was denied, we were able to get our backup deposit back. So in conclusion: 1) The business is totally trustworthy. 2) The listings are all of good quality. 3) Kate is incredibly cool, so ask for Kate! read more

After searching all over brooklyn for weeks, seeing around 25 apartments, I finally found an apartment with Nooklyn and recommend checking them out if you're in the market for an apartment. First of all, the agent, Taylor, made it super EASY which is definitely not a word often used to describe apartment searching, let alone New York City in general. Within 48 hours, I saw the apartment twice, filled out an application, and signed my lease. Second, Taylor was very accomodating and helpful. Even after I put down a deposit, I wanted to see the apartment again to make sure and Taylor made it happen the same day. However, what I valued the most is that he was super available and communicative when I had questions (even offered to talk me through parts of the process if I needed clairification) but he was not pushy or rude as some agents can be when you are hesitant and they really want to close the deal. Overall, I'm really glad I ended up connecting with Nooklyn. It has a very cool Brooklyn vibe. I am super grateful for Taylor being so professional, helpful, and efficient!! read more

Nooklyn has been exceptional as a whole. They showed us exactly what we were looking for. We asked for a specific location and specific price and they made it happen. Let me start by explaining why I went with 4 stars instead of 5. We made an appointment about a week in advance. When we arrived, the broker who we scheduled with, Venetia, wasn't there. We waited for over a half of an hour and she still hasn't arrived. She also wouldn't answer our texts or calls. We were frustrated and angry and considered going elsewhere. Enter Romy. Romy took time out of here day to listen to what we wanted, put together a plan of attack and get us what we are looking for. She took us to view a few apartments, we loved each one more and more. Eventually we found one that we loved. She was personable, helpful and above all, HONEST. Sometimes a quality hard to find in this business. For some reason, Venetia was put in charge of making sure all of our paperwork was submitted and good to go. This was a mistake. We didn't hear anything from her for days and it wasn't until we called for an update that we found out we didn't get approved and would need another guarantor. After acquiring another guarantor, we didn't hear from Venetia for three more days. Again, I called for an update and Venetia had no update. Fed up with the lack of communication from Venetia, I called to talk to a supervisor and tell her that we would like Romy to handle the entire process. That night we got word that we were approved for the apartment. In summary, everyone we had come in contact with at Nooklyn was professional, nice and helpful. EXCLUDING VENETIA. Her lack off communication and organization skills dimmed the excitement of looking for a new apartment. Luckily, Romy saved the day. Romy = 5 stars Venetia = 0 stars Nooklyn = 4 stars read more

Ophelia Miller was AMAZING I gave Ophelia a price range and a few desired neighborhoods, and the same day she called me back with four places that were all fantastic. The next day, she drove me and my roommates around in her car from place to place, gave us a ton of information on the neighborhoods, and also made sure to give me and my roommates plenty of time on our own to discuss and come to our own decision. She never hovered or place any degree of pressure on us whatsoever, a nice change from some of the shadowing stressful brokers we'd talked to earlier in the week. We ended up with an awesome apartment in Crown Heights, well within our price range and only two tiny blocks from a subway stop, and countless cool restaurants, bars, and cafes in a 15-minute walking radius. She was with us every step of the way from deposit to tax forms to guarantors to signing the lease. We couldn't be happier with our experience with Ophelia and Nooklyn. Cannot recommend highly enough if you are looking for a place in Brooklyn. read more

This review is for Enzo Larocca -- this guy is a rockstar. My roommate and I were so stressed out trying to find a place, due to mishaps from other incompetent realtors during our search. The whole time we felt like we were in safe hands, and the process was seamless. Previously I had a really bad experience with an apartment I rented through Nooklyn two years ago, and I was extremely skeptical of going back. But, I'm glad I did! Highly recommend working with Enzo, as he is extremely organized, informed, and willing to go above and beyond the call of duty. Writing this happily from my great new apartment. :) read more

Keith Dunn our agent from the Bushwick office has been super helpful and on top of everything. Ling and KJ made the stress of apartment search SO easy and actually a very pleasant process! They sent videos and diagrams & were able to physically show me the properties around my schedule! I completely loved working with Venetia! Venetia saved our lives, assembled quality roommates, and locked down a dream apartment (which is also affordable and has private bathrooms per tenant) within 3 days!!! Definitely reaching out to her again next time I need to move! read more

I have lived in NYC for 3.5 years and have moved 3 times since then. I have worked with countless brokers, both in Manhattan and Brooklyn, but no one stood out to me more than Trish Weinstock from Nooklyn. The first thing I noticed about Trish when she first showed me around was her honest and respectful demeanor. She attentively listened to my needs and worked endlessly into finding something I truly love. She was not pushy, and she would tell me when an apartment was priced higher than it should have been. She was always on time, and when she was running 5 minutes late, she always notified me. Despite of all the great traits she has as a broker, what I like most about Trish is how polite and courteous she is, and not only to me, but also to other tenants in the building we visit. Unlike other brokers who tend to ring the bell frantically to get into the building, Trish always made sure she had the keys needed. We struggled getting into a building once, and I remember how she felt really bad for asking other tenant to buzz her in and how thankful she was when someone did. One more thing that was remarkable about her, I noticed how she always turned off every single lights in the apartment before we left. I think that truly shows her great character. I didn't get to work with her husband, Mike Weinstock, but I met him once and he was really eager to help us out. He even offered us a ride to go to visit the apartments so we didn't have to walk. This is honestly the longest review I have ever written on Yelp, and I just want you guys to know that I took the time to do this because I can't speak more highly of Trish! Thanks Trish for all your help! read more

Nooklyn should not associate with Deodat Lowtan ("Rupert"). Rupert is a crook. Google him. We rented a building through Nooklyn and our contacts were James and Mikalena. A nice couple. However, it was clear that even they are sick of Rupert's buillshit. Lease started in January of 2021 and was due to run for a year. In April we found out that the lease was not valid because of an error on the owner's side. We were asked to sign a new lease. We did not sign a new lease because none of the repairs (from before moving in) were addressed. A window in one of the bedrooms did not close all of the way. An outlet did not work. The place was a mess. Rupert allowed loud gatherings of people to utilize empty apartments for parties (who left door to outside propped open). The key to the mailbox was not given to us until weeks after moving in. When that was resolved, Rupert verbally assaulted one of the roommates. In April we gave notice that we were vacating on May 31. Since we were not in a legal lease and we were not receiving any assistance regarding repairs, we believed we either had to sign the lease or just go. We gave a full month's notice as not to screw anyone. After vacating, we were told it would take a month to get our security deposits back (taken from when we signed the original, apparently not legal lease in January). After a six weeks, I heard nothing. I tried to reach out to Rupert but he would not return calls. James and Mikalena were not able to do anything because they repeatedly told us that they were the "brokers" from Nooklyn and not the owner. It wasn't until then that I googled Rupert's name and realized this was a lost cause. Other tenants were dealing with much more serious issues with him. In the end, he pocketed the security deposit. Nothing I did could get through to him. I believe I could have sued, but it would cost more in attorney's fees (and he knows that). BEWARE! read more

I've never taken to Yelp (or anywhere else on the internet, for that matter) to give a business a bad review, but man, my experience with Nooklyn was something else... Here's the story: 1. My roommate and I view a few apartments listed as 2brs with a Nooklyn agent. 2. We end up being into one of the apartments. Cool! They're not super forthcoming with the fact there's a broker's fee on this apartment as opposed to some other ones we've checked out, but that's probably on us for not pressing about that up front. Even with the fee, we still decide we're into it and send along a good faith deposit of a couple thousand dollars while we get the applications in. 3. A few days after submitting our application, I see the apartment listed through another website - their description notes that one of the "bedrooms" doesn't have a window. This wasn't clear when we viewed the place, as the current tenant was in the process of moving out and had her things stacked along the walls. Bedrooms in New York City (and almost everywhere else in the country, for that matter) require a window since not having two means of egress is a fire hazard. I'm not comfortable living in a bedroom without a window and more than a little frustrated this hadn't been mentioned in Nooklyn's listing. 4. I ask for my deposit back. An agent offers to cut part of the broker's fee. I point out that the fee isn't the issue so much as the room's lack of a window and Nooklyn's failure to disclose that in their listing. At first, I'm told they're prepping my deposit. Shortly after, the agent tells me his superiors are reviewing the situation - whatever that means. 5. A few days later the agent tells me that after reviewing the situation, his superiors have decided they will prorate every day the apartment goes unrented from our deposit for the next month since we forced the landlord to turn down other applicants over the period of three days we were holding the apartment. Uh, what? After several exchanges with the agent expressing how utterly absurd it is that I should potentially have to pay a month's rent on an apartment that was improperly listed on their website as 2br because I kept it off the market for three days, I realize I'm getting nowhere. It becomes clear that I need to contact a lawyer. 6. I do. The lawyer sends a note saying they can't do that. They eventually return my money because of f**king course they can't do that. It's hard to express just how stressful this situation was for me - like many of the folks who likely use Nooklyn, I don't exactly have a surplus of money laying around, and the deposit they were withholding was a super significant portion of the money I have to my name. I don't think it's melodramatic to say that it was a scary situation for me. It makes sense that this place has such high marks on Yelp, because the agents are aggressively friendly. But it's worth keeping in mind that, in my experience, the business itself is only accommodating to the point that it benefits them to be. Luckily for me, I have access to a lawyer, but if I didn't I would have had to choose between a) Living in an apartment I didn't feel safe in b) Paying fees for access to a lawyer c) Potentially paying a month's rent on an apartment I was never going to set foot in again. My message to you, potential renter: Be your own advocate, don't let the "Brooklyn cool" ethos of this company fool you into thinking they have your best interest in mind, don't let yourself get bullied. My message to Nooklyn: Be better to people, don't be bullies, and avoid future reviews like this one. read more

These 5 star reviews have to be written by the employees themselves. Extremely unprofessional and inexperienced. After 2.5 months of waiting for our deposit to be sent back to us from my ex landlord Mendy (179 Stanhope St, Apt 2L) or Nooklyn (Diego), we eventually just went to the office two times to ask our deposit. But, We received NO response until NOW. It's agencies like these that give renting in Brooklyn a bad rep. read more

Stay Away! Believe the bad reviews - Nooklyn is NOT a REPUTABLE agent! They engage in bait and switch tactics - showing nice apartments to lure you in and locking in your money, then stringing you along until you are desperate and they can steer you to substandard apartments. They are the very worst. In our case, we are three women of color who have been working with Cris, who has lied repeatedly. First he claimed our $1,000 deposit wouldn't take the apartment we wanted off the market. We thought that was suspect but he condescendingly claimed it was standard practice. Ok that's definitely not true but we went along. We then paid $3,000 - an entire months rent - to submit our application. Before we could complete the guarantor form, Cris claimed the landlord was "impatient" and reviewed our application before it was complete. Supposedly the landlord rejected us despite us meeting income requirements and having a strong guarantor. We have since learned from a that the original apartment remained on the market even after submitting and paying the deposit and this story was all BS. After this, Cris had our money and claimed he had lots of other apartments to show us and it would be easier since they already had our application and deposit. So once again we went along. BIG MISTAKE. He then showed us a series of shitty apartments and pressured us to take them. We resisted though and said we wanted to work with another firm - then all of a sudden Cris has "the perfect place", a beautiful apartment that supposedly no one had seen. We submit our app and the next morning he claims the apartment was rented by another brokerage, something that is "very unusual". It's unclear whether our application was even submitted to this listing. It is now mid month, we still have no apartment and we are out $3,000. But worse yet, they are SAYING IT COULD TAKE 2 WEEKS to RETURN OUR MONEY, claiming "it hasn't cleared on their end" even though it cleared our bank days ago. This is literally not how banks work. These people lie! Nooklyn engages in dubious business practices STAY AWAY! read more

Had a fantastic experience with all of the people over at Nooklyn, especially Christopher. We are also happy it was such a great experience since we now live above one of their offices so we see at least a few of the guys on a daily basis on our dog walks. Christopher was very patient with us and understood our list of needs and showed us 5 apartments, and then revisited apartments with us. He was available via text on days, nights, weekends and was really helpful in our decision making process. We almost "settled" for something in an area we weren't really keen on, and it was he who broke it down for us and made us realize it would've been a mistake without pushing us in any direction- he just really knew the right questions to ask to help us make our decision. We've been in our new apartment for just short of a month and we are SO happy. He was completely up front about everything to do with our new building, how the super is (great!) and also gave us great reco's of restaurants, bars, etc. All of these guys seem to live in the neighborhoods they are renting to people in so they really know what they are talking about. Also worth mentioning, Alex who works in the office is awesome as well! She accommodated our schedules with the lease signing (and unlike our last "landlord/managment company"- I use the term loosely because they were horrendous to work with) she didn't rush us through it, allowed us to make appropriate changes and was on top of all of our needs. If you are strongly considering any of the areas that they rent to I highly recommend using their services! They also have exclusive listings in lofts! Thanks Nooklyn!!! read more

Was assured certain things would be taken care of upon moving in. 10 months into this place and they JUST put a gutter on the roof. Also, we originally did not need a gurantor but the day before we signed the lease all of a sudden we needed one? Numerous other things in this place don't work correctly or you can tell it was half-assed. I've lived in Bushwick for almost 10 years so I'm used to the janky construction but even by Bushwick standards this place is a show apartment. I'm updating this because my broker at the time kept pressuring us to put up a positive yelp review after we signed the lease. Basic stuff here but always do your research and do not let anyone push you into signing anything without thoroughly inspecting the place. Get it together. read more

We had an over all very difficult experience with securing our apartment. We are happy with the apartment but very disappointed with the service we received. We were working with a new agent, but he was supposedly being guided by a more experienced one. We did not pay a broker's fee and I am still upset about the service. Complaints are below: -We were not able to see majority of the apartments we asked to see. The broker insisted on showing us apartments in Bushwick although we told him we wanted to look in Bed-Stuy. The Bushwick apartments were awful and deceptively pictured on the website. He showed attitude and disdain when we asked to see specific Nooklyn apartments in Bed-Stuy. We specifically asked for no fee apartments but were still shown apartments with fees. -Constant back & forth and general poor communication from the broker. It seemed that our broker had to ask someone else about each question we had. Often, we were given incorrect information. -I think we ended up paying way more up front than necessary. When we found an apartment we liked, we collected our necessary documents and found that collectively, we did not quite meet the leasing agency's ideal (80x rent, 750 credit). We provided supplemental documents and a guarantor that put us at the leasing agency's standards. The broker did not submit our application (but suggested that he did) and instead badgered us to find a second guarantor and asked if we could pay 4 months rent upfront. The back and forth of him asking us for additional payment and documents continued for 3 days, without him submitting the app. We offered to pay 1 additional month upfront and he sent the app in, we were accepted. I can see someone else being tricked into offering the 4 months upfront without it actually being necessary. -When we did find an apartment, we had to cut out the middle man and speak directly to the management company about all of our questions, so what was the point of the broker? When we arrived to sign the lease we were told we were signing a general lease so many of the details on the lease were not accurate (how we would pay rent, animals not being allowed, move in process, etc.) We thought this strange but the 2 brokers in the room assured us that it was normal. Later as we began to ask questions about move-in, we noticed these contradictions were actually important and had to call the management company to sort it out. -We were told we must submit certified checks for deposit and up front move-in (an inconvenience and an additional $10) but when we spoke to the management company, they said personal checks were fine. read more

Ive lived in New York City my whole life and I've never had this bad service from a real-estate company. I had high hopes for Nooklyn but sadly it gives brokers a bad name. My broker showed me a bunch of terrible apartments that did not interest me. If you're ever unfortunate enough to see a room with Steve Schaefer, turn and leave immediately. Initially, Steve was very cordial and seemed to have our best interest at heart. It wasn't until we had already paid our security deposit that we realized he had misconstrued the details of our deposit agreement. When we tried to clarify over the phone, Steve Schaefer repeatedly yelled over us and killed any chance at an open discussion. Steve actually lied to us and said our deposit money had already been sent to the landlord and was non-refundable. When we independently contacted the Nooklyn office, they said this was not the case. It's against policy. Steve Schaefer likes to pretend he's above the slimy tactics used in the real estate industry, but this is simply untrue. Also, these other rave reviews are almost surely fake. Nooklyn has dozens of brokers, and nearly a third of these comments are specifically complimenting Steve Schaefer. Most of the accounts only have reviews about Steve. I wouldn't trust what they say. read more

I don't write reviews for places frequently. And I'll be blunt... I had a terrible experience with the first person I worked with at Nooklyn. They didn't care about me moving, they said whatever they needed to to close the sale, and it was just all around awful. I didn't want to work with Nooklyn anymore because of it. However, I needed a place to live and they had the best apartments so I decided to stay with the company but work with somebody different. That's when I met Clint. I can't speak highly enough about him. He recognized that we had a frustrating experience last time and did everything he could to make up for it. As poor as our first experience was, our second one working with Clint was above and beyond. He was thoughtful, honest, and extremely helpful. He showed us as many places as we wanted to see, never pressured us into anything. He was just "in our corner". At the end of the day, that's what we need; someone in our corner that knows what they're doing and looks out for us. I can only start to tell you how perfectly that describes Clint. He really showed that he understands how tough it can be to relocate and move across the country, but he stayed with us through the whole process. Thank you so much Clint! We love the spot where we ended up! If I were rating him alone, I'd throw 5 stars. Because of the first experience, I have to give 4. read more

Nooklyn makes getting an apartment in Brooklyn SO MUCH EASIER than doing it on your own with craigslist. I've lived in Brooklyn since 2006, and I've always relied on craigslist or my friends for finding an apartment. Over the summer I knew that I wanted to ditch Crown Heights for Bushwick, and for the first time I decided to work with a broker. I chose Nooklyn because the offices are located in Bushwick and the name is just so freaking cute. I worked with James and gave him some basic parameters for what I was looking for as far as budget, # of rooms, location, etc. Within a day he called me and said he had something really amazing to show me. I thought it might just be part of the sales technique to emphasize how amazing something was before I saw it, but I was seriously so impressed by how spot-on he was with showing me a place that was exactly what I wanted. The same day I saw the place he showed me I got money for the deposit and secured the place. When I went to the Nooklyn office to do paperwork I met Hayley who is so incredibly nice and sweet. Aside from being great people, James and Hayley were both very professional and helpful to work with. Awesome experience! Hayley was wonderful helping me find a place for me and my boyfriend. My boyfriend was out of town so I made this big decision on my own. She was especially patient while I took pics of everything- I mean everything! She listened to what I wanted and showed me 2 places: first was the one I had come to Nooklyn for, and the 2nd one I took on the spot: Hello dishwasher and backyard! She knows a lot of people in the area and showed me a cute coffee shop as well. She is quick, efficient, and warm hearted. My boyfriend and I are so happy here in Bushwick! I had looked at other places around Brooklyn through a variety of brokers (none at Nooklyn) and it was simply awful! Do yourself a favor and let apartment hunting actually be enjoyable...work with Hayley - she is fantastic! read more

This review is long overdue - I worked with Danielle in April and she was absolutely amazing. Thorough and patient. Due to our building being purchased, the new landlord was forcing us out and Danielle was sincerely invested in helping so we didn't end up on the streets. My circumstances changed in the middle of the search and I needed to find a new roommate. Well Danielle offered solutions even if it didn't mean working with Nooklyn. Very rare in the city that you find people willing to go out of their way to help, and Danielle definitely went above and beyond. read more

They seem to have trouble listing apartments that are actually available to rent. This operation is just a waste of time when there are plenty of other places who actually have their act together and don't play stupid games. read more

Diego at Nooklyn was very helpful and courteous with helping me find my new amazing apartment. Very flexible with meeting times and always had a great attitude and communication. Would recommend this realtor to anyone! read more

I worked with Steve. He is very insightful and knowledgeable abt the area. First time living in Brooklyn so because i was a little nervous he only showed me places that were safe for women. he asked me abt what I was looking for and only showed me the options that fit the criteria. the one I chose was great but i was anxious to sign the lease so he was more than happy to walk me through the spot again and answer any additional questions I had. He also followed up with me to see how things were going which is something I really appreciated. I highly recommend Nooklyn and Steve. read more

Bad experience. My boyfriend and I found a place online $1900 a month. Steve Schaefer was in charge of showing it. He said the place wouldn't last two days and that we needed to sign ASAP if we were interested and that this was the best deal. It's September 1st, we want to move in Oct 1st. We're both students and it's hard for us to make rent but my mom helps me, and my boyfriend gets loans from Europe. My sister can be the guarantor. We fill out an application for me my bf and the guarantor... $225 He swipes our credit card for a "good faith deposit" and says if we change our mind we get the $ back, it's just to take it off the market. He was really nifty the whole time. We felt like we made too quick of a decision, but Steve texts and calls my boyfriend pressuring us to get him paperwork. I send him my bank statements and all my paperwork, my boyfriend ends up having to send nothing (weird) He then pressures me to send him the rest of the deposit, 4 days later I send him $900, the rest of the deposit. We go out of town and come back, and my boyfriends loans get cut in half. Suddenly reality sets in. We know we will be barely making rent and will actually never be home. The place was really nice and big but it wasn't a smart move. I don't know how we got approved truly, because we're both broke. I call Steve and explain the situation, and he gets really mad. Tells us were screwing him over and we're not getting our money back. I apologize and tell him we just straight up cannot afford it. He hangs up on me. He tries calling back later, my boyfriend talks to him and Steve tells us he'll cut the broker fee in half (WHAT?!). We get very weirded out and tell him we cannot sign he lease, we don't trust him at this point. He made us very uncomfortable. We had to hire lawyers and are still in the process of getting our money back. We may have jumped the gun, but this is a warning to not do what we did because you will end up in a bad situation. We felt very pressured the whole time and we're treated very disrespectfully by Steve after backing out. read more

I'm embarrassed that this company represents Brooklyn. I have never dealt with such lack of professionalism or empathy. Truly discouraged me from even moving into the area but luckily I was able to work with another real estate company that changed my mind. Quick to take a 2500 dollar deposit to get an apartment off the market, but not quick to send in paperwork so that I actually get said apartment. Time and money was wasted and NOBODY at Nooklyn could care less. Truly recommend working with another company save yourself the frustration. read more
