Unfortunately, I didn't get any photos here but I will write about my experience. I went to the Denman location and arrived just after 7:30 pm with no reservations. Rookie mistake because the place was busy and had a wait of at least an hour. Luckily the parties waiting for seats were waiting for tables and my friend and I were lucky enough to score two seats at the bar without waiting. For drinks, we tried to order a Negroni but they were unable to make it because they only have 2 cocktails. One of them is Aperol with champagne and the other I'm unsure of. The rest of the alcoholic drinks consist of red and white wines. For an appetizer, we got the burrata dish. I don't recall if this was a feature item or a regular menu item but either way it was delicious. The burrata came with perfectly cut bread that was toasted, sweet cherry tomatoes with a drizzle of olive oil. It was light and delicious. I would highly recommend this dish. For our mains, we shared the spaghetti Puttanesca and their sausage pizza. The Spaghetti Puttanesca had a little too much meat for my tasting and not enough sauce. The meat was crumbled beef mixed with plenty of tasty herbs and spices. Nonetheless, I didn't enjoy it too much because of the amount of meat and lack of sauce in my opinion. The pizza, however, I did enjoy. It was cooked well, thin crust, good dough and the perfect amount of cheese. The sausage has a nice kick to it so if you're not used to eating spicy or don't like spicy foods I suggest you don't try this. The goat horn is a pickled chili, similar taste to banana pepper just different form and not spicy (in my opinion). Great service and friendly wait staff. I would definitely come back and try other dishes, but I'm in no rush. read more

This place is amazing. Unpretentious, quality food, excellent wine, great service. The special was a Burrata prosciutto platter which was really good. The focaccia was one of the best I've ever had. The pastas and pizzas were fantastic. Our family had a very enjoyable memorable meal here. So thankful for it. read more

Nook has great food, nice decor and ambience (dimmed, romantic atmosphere) with a unique Chef's Table. Pricing is affordable for eating out at a nice restaurant (approx. $30/person not including alcohol). Service is great and the food comes out quick, but the wait can be a while, as the place is always packed! We ordered the following: Meatballs in tomato sauce - OK; the meatballs could have packed more flavour. Whipped ricotta crostini - OK; the ricotta was mild and the honey could have been a bit more sweet. We were hoping for the flavours to pop out more and have a nice balance between the sweet and the savoury. Margherita pizza - GOOD; the dough was chewy and the crust was the right amount of crispy. The pizza was even better when dipped with the chilli oil and topped with pepper flakes. Nook's chili oil is AMAZING! Only minor complaint is to add more mozzarella cheese on the pizza (some slices had none). Campanelle, guanciale, cauliflower and spinach (pasta of the day) - GOOD; this was delicious and full of flavour. The sauce wasn't too rich or creamy either, and the noodles were cooked to perfection. I would come here again to eat, but I'd probably just order the pizzas and pastas next time. I think we found a gem worth traveling for from "Ditchmond". I started this review back in October of 2016 and it had sat here unfinished, likely because my every so trusty Yelp app on my Iphone didn't do what I asked of it. ummmmkay... Why does it seem I start my reviews with a rant about the app? or some policy or something? It shouldn't be that way cause let me tell you. I like this place alot. We came there one evening, and things got mixed up upon arrival. It was busy. We were designated a table that had paid their bill but they just wouldn't leave. (pause for effect.) Then they ordered wine and kept going on and on. Eventually we got seated, at another table and that's when the magic happened. The food. All I can remember is we had a couple of pasta dishes, cause that's what you're supposed to order when you come to the Nook. We also had some salads and I think a charcuterie. All I can remember is how good all the dishes were. I think I have some pics I posted, so not all was lost on this review. You see, a pic is worth a thousand words. More than most reviews!. HANDS DOWN BEST PIZZA IN VANCOUVER. Their pizza stands the test against pizza in Naples and southern Italy. This place is incredible!! Their pastas are also delicious, they are hand made in house every morning. The staff is also very lovely, helpful and attentive. We love this place and would eat here every week if we could! After positive reviews in the paper and thumbs up by a couple of friends, I was excited to check out Nook, a relative newcomer to the West End. How disappointing. It was a hot summer night, and there's no ventilation inside the restaurant. It's like a sauna in there -- we walked in, and almost walked right out. If it weren't for the fact that a table for two was available right away, we probably would have left. Maybe we should have. We ordered the chicken liver with capers crostini ($6) which was just ok. It was basically pate, and I like pate, but I was expecting chicken livers -- something a little bit different from pate smeared on toast. Capers were fried beyond recognition or taste. When the caprese (buffalo mozzarella and tomatoes & basil, $10) arrived, we nearly gasped. The portion was so small, given the price -- maybe 5 cherry-size tomatoes sliced in half, with a chunk of cheese. It tasted okay, but not worth $10. When the pancetta (and... I can't remember) pizza ($15) arrived, we actually gasped out loud because nearly half of the pizza's surface was charred black. We looked up at the waitress, and asked in disbelief, "is it supposed to be this burned?" She sheepishly answered yes, but offered to do it again if we didn't like it. Uh huh. When she took it back to the man-in-charge-of-pizza (not the owner-chef) standing no more than 10 feet away, he angrily tossed the whole pie into the trash. It took another 15 minutes for the replacement to arrive, and though not charred on top, the bottom was still severely burnt black. I don't know -- crispy is one thing, but why would I pay money to eat soot? The pancetta was super salty, as pancetta can be, but there was nothing else on the pizza to offset or balance the saltiness. It was almost inedible, but we were so hungry by then. In short, the pizza was a disaster. In conclusion. Strike 1: I was fanning my face with the menu the whole time because it was so unbearably hot in there. Strike 2: The Caprese is a ripoff. Strike 3. When the table next to us cleared, a waitress used a scented chemical-smelling cleaning spray and a rag to wipe it down, and we had to sit for the rest of the evening smelling Pinesol-like fumes. Strike 4. They had the audacity to serve us a $15 pizza that should have gone into the trash to begin with. So nope. We're not going back. Probably ever. read more

First of all, the pizza is first rate. Great crust and lovely flavour. Definitely one of the best pizza's in Vancouver. Sadly, it was my wife who had the pizza (well, she did share it with me), but I had the pasta. It was the orechietti with sausage, fennel, rapini and chili. Sounded good because I like fennel, but whoops, they've run out of fennel. Okay, can I have a little of that nice roasted garlic instead? No. Okay then, I'll take it as it comes, sans fennel. Of the more reasonably priced wines served by the glass (under $10 a glass) two were not available. That actually left only one wine. Okay, so short on wine and short on fennel. Big deal, what's the food TASTE like? Already said the pizza was great, but sadly, the pasta was a disaster. Horribly over salted (and this coming from a person who likes salt) and a big pool of water at the bottom of the dish. It wasn't inedible because I was hungry, but really, I should have sent it back. I just had a horribly salty taste for the rest of the night and the wateryness was just not nice. Maybe I had bad luck, but that was my experience. The pasta was really bad, but the pizza was great, although it was also on the salty side, but not so much of a problem (honestly, I'm not obsessed with salt!) Service was interesting. Kind of aggressive in a friendly way. Like when they were out of fennel, no apology or offer to adjust, just 'that's the way it is, so what?' Kind of attitude. Nook is obviously using quality ingredients and they take their food seriously, but they need work. Good, reasonably priced Italian is not so common in Vancouver so I hope this place improves. Having said that, it isn't actually that cheap. Single pizza or pasta for $16 each. Starters at $10 and $12. Limited menu. No green salad. I'm not saying it's expensive, but it's not cheap and the lowest price glass of wine is $8.50, if they have it. read more

Nook is pretty darn close to perfect... I feel like a lot of restaurants at this price point don't really understand that hosting and being hospitable is part of the dining out experience that hooks in regulars. Nook gets it and you feel truly like a guest of their establishment the moment you walk in the door. I arrived at an early hour and I had a somewhat lengthy (20 minute or so) wait for my friend who was joining me. It was quiet when I arrived and I sat at the bar to wait. It felt like I had no shortage of company because the bartender (?) chatted with me as well as one of the servers. I ordered a glass of prosecco in the meantime and I was offered a crostini with white bean spread, which was heavenly. It was a nice gesture! When my friend arrived, we moved to a window overlooking Denman Street. Ahhh, hope I have not lost anyone by my long story before getting to the food! My friend and I ordered the burrata, which is something I've been wanting to try for some time. It's a lovely sharing plate with the burrata sitting on some arugula plus a bean salad, prosciutto and bread. We also shared the pizza special, which came highly recommended--on an olive oil base, it was roasted garlic and housemade, savoury pulled pork. As others have said, it gets very busy. Perhaps the experience would be a little less fun if I had had to wait and not had a chance to interact with the lovely staff while it was quiet in the beginning. They graciously allowed my friend and me to occupy our seats for a long, chatty meal. The atmosphere is lively and fun--if you are sick of dining out, come here because they will remind you why people go out to dine amongst a crowd. I'd recommend sharing and trying the specials and basically I very much doubt you could go wrong with anything on the menu. Prices are a bit too high. That aside.... the point lost for prices is regained in service and taste. Food here is fantastic. Service, at least from Phil at the bar, is fantastic. We came in on a Thursday night around 7pm -- just two of us. Sat at the bar. Pondered over the menu. Mentioned to Phil we were embarrassingly unfamiliar with Italian wines. He poured us each samplings of 4 different wines from light to full bodies. He described the region they were from, what they best accompany, and whatever other anecdotal information he had on hand. It was informative without pretension. I wasn't going to absorb the information -- but I certainly loved listening to it and feeling like some real passion existed both for the wines and the foods he was telling us about. We started off with the green salad which was plenty for two to share. Also had the chicken ilver and caper crostinis. Much to my delight, the chicken liver did not have a pronounced caper flavor despite the whole capers within. They were subtle and allowed the liver to dominate my palette along with a drizzle of olive oil. We then shared the Ricotta pizza with tomatos, garlic, onions, and our added mozzarella and egg. Wow, this pizza was good. I haven't had good pizza since moving out west. This was thin crust -- and the crust was actually tasty. For dessert, we decided to skip the sweet stuff and have another order of the chicken liver crostini. Weird? Sure, maybe. But we liked it and quite frankly, it's just not something you get to eat every day. Our dinner for two which included a few glasses of wine, three appetizers, and a pizza, came out to $85. Because we liked Phil so much, we left $20 for tip. Overall -- a meal well worth it. Service that was excellent and unexpected after I'd read all the previous reviews. There are many pro's about this place. I love the setting, I love Brad the waiter, he knows his stuff and is full of helpful suggestions. A guy who seems to go the extra mile for you. I have eaten here at least 6 times. I must preface my comments with the following caveat - I am Italian. As far as appetizers go I adore the Gorgonzola Crustini. The Caprese while complete with all the requisite toppings was bland. Not enough seasoning to bring it all together. We were a table of three and all had pasta dishes. I have now eaten ALL of the pasta and can tell you there is but one worth ordering, not including daily specials. It is the sun dried tomato with cream. The Putanesca was overwhelmingly seasoned with anchovy. It was the worst I have ever eaten. It simply did not taste good and I regretted ordering it from the first bite. Many of the pasta dishes are way too salty. I simply don't get this. The explanation from the waitress, or perhaps justification, is that the meats added are high in salt and thus provide the saltiness. I don't see why that can't be adjusted. It makes for an unpleasant dish and the need for much water later on. As I mentioned earlier I have had pasta there on all 6 of my visits and this is a theme you can't escape. The pizza, which I have not ordered but had a slice of, tasted good. This seems to be a restaurant that needs to change the menu and address some basics. I do love this place but am bored of the menu and fed up with the same issue which clearly is not viewed as a problem internally (over salted food). read more

The atmosphere is fun.. the service is fantastic. It's small and can get a little warm with the exposed kitchen. The place has a great feel all in all. And that's where my cheering for the Nook stops. If your on a date or with a buddy and your looking for a place with a good vibe for a glass of wine and mediocre attempt at an italian meal.. sure go here. But the food alone speaks nothing to me but bland and boring. The Chicken Liver Crostini was good with a drizzle of a nice olive oil. That was out first dish so I thought we were off to a good start. Then the disappointing entrees came.. soggy Procuitto Pizza and tasteless Pasta Bolognese. I had to ask for salt, pepper, balsamic, cheese and olive oil to give the dish the slightest bit of flare... or basic flavor. The meat and cheese on the pizza was ok.. tho the most integral parts being the crust and the sauce were not even close to Italian standards. I left all my crust on the plate. I think I was just eating the Procuitto by the end of it. Still I had a good time based on the rockin' service and high energy atmosphere... In a city which treats the glorious thing that is pizza in the way walmart treats fashion, Nook is a refuge. Having lived most of my life in NYC and spending way too much time in Italy if that statement can even be a bad thing, I know and love pizza. Back in San Francisco where I left my food heart, I have been missing an amazing pizza joint called Pizzeria Delfina. Almost anyone who knows thin crust pizza in SF knows this place. Last night I had the best experience at Nook. I was brought back to San Francisco as soon as I had my first bite. The crust was perfect and the sausage, sweet onion combo was outstanding! We had a hard time figuring out the starter so our barman suggested the special. It was the most amazing, creamy, light Burrata cheese with prosciutto, sweet cherry tomatoes,basil and some amazing olive oil. All this to top your freely grilled bread on the panini press. Really amazing! Something else that really impressed me was the way they took care of the people waiting to get a seat. It is a small place and of course the demand is great for a seat. One of the staff brought out a pizza Margarita and gave the guests who were waiting a snack. This added touch makes Nook my favourite nook. I am a huge fan and when my permanent residence is Vancouver this fall I will be a regular customer at Nook. Go see for yourself or at the very least call ahead for takeout and walk up to the beach, grab a bottle of wine at Denman Spirits and enjoy a sunset. I have been wanting to come here and try out this restaurant for a while now. We ordered: - burrata ($17) -- prociutto is great, but there's really only 2 slices of toasted bread and 2 slices of prociutto plus a ton of cheese, tastes great, but probably not worth the price tag. - Italian sausage pizza ($18?) -- personal sized, yummy. - Gnocci with mini meatballs ($17?) - pretty good, tasty and a heavy dish - pine nuts and broccolini pasta ($16) -- oily and slightly spicy. A friend who recently moved to Vancouver from Italy raved about Nook as the best quality-for-price value, and we recently went with a large group (8 people). I enjoyed the margherita pizza, and a small nibble of a creamy penne with wild mushrooms. Wasn't as fond of the escarole salad. Service was so-so. The waitress took the order for one-third of the table, then walked away when the rest weren't immediately ready to order. Made it seem like it was a hassle to bring drinks. read more

Sometimes, a place really proves themselves with their service. I'm not typically one to write a ton about service, as I generally only pay attention to the food (that's the important part!), but this place really deserves a call out. I've been wanting to try this place for a little while now, but every time we'd swing by, they'd be packed and we'd have a larger group that made it tough to seat. Understanding, we'd always say we'd come back another day. So, when the BF and I moved into our new apartment and needed some pizzas to eat on the floor before all our stuff got there, the obvious option was Nook. We ordered two pizzas for take out via phone. They said they'd be ready in 15, so we got there just around that time. Sure enough, they were ready. As we were paying, one of the servers accidentally knocked the pizzas onto the floor. It's not even clear to me who's fault that really was (did we set the pizzas down at a weird angle or was it them?), but immediately, the guy helping us had the chef fire up two more pizzas, apologized and sat us down at the bar. He poured us two glasses of wine on them and said the pizzas would be up shortly. Amazing. It's simple things like that that make a restaurant really special. We weren't upset, and we totally understood - it would have been just fine if they just made another. Instead, they really went above and beyond. And the pizzas? So freaking good. We got a margarita and a prosciutto with arugula - both were killer! Can't wait to go back and try a bunch more of their menu. Also, are they related to Tavola? That's one of my favorite places to eat at in the neighborhood and I'd love it if they were partners. read more

only miss the sun I went to Nook and loved it. From the name to the space right down to the last bite. My family and I had the most delightful server. She was petite brunette who exuded warmth with a smile and knowledge for the menu. This restaurant has really done what its name alludes. It's carved out its own tiny space at the corner of Denman and Robson. A really cozy unpretentious spot, with a fabulous wine menu, offering really good Italian food. The menu is small but every dish is destined for greatness. Our meal was delicious: simple flavours, plated neatly and with all the right seasonings and extras (ample freshly grated cheese). Buffalo mozzarella with arugula ($12) Creamy and nutty Ricotta, spinach, roasted garlic and olives ($17) Thin handcrafted pizza - chewy and crispy Campanelle ($16) Broccolini, pine nuts and Calabrian chiles Sweet and salty with a little kick Spaghetti Bolognese ($16) - MY FAVOURITE A perfect plate of bolognese. Classic robust flavour. We cleaned our plates and left happy and full. So if I'm so hard to please, how did Nook do it so easily?!? I am becoming a bigger fan of intimate restaurants with warm atmospheres whom serve simple yet mouth watering creations. If you happen to be in the mood for one, I suggest Nook, nestled on Denman Street just off of Robson. They do not take reservations therefore suggesting that you try to get there before 7 pm. I would also suggest going in with 3 other friends so you can share several dishes in one sitting. You definitely need to try one of their homemade pizzas, (after tasting one, you may want to take one to go). Don't forget to check out the "Specials" chalk board. I ended up having the "Burrata on Toasted Bread" which was to die for and "Fresh Fig (from a farm in Langley) paired with Prosciutto". I rounded out the rest of my meal with the "Gnocchi with Baby Meatballs", and "Spaghetti Bolognese". I was so stuffed, you had to roll me out. read more

The fact that patrons have to use a sign-in board is quite frustrating; it is my first time here and it was so busy that I didn't notice there is an unspoken system to put your name down on the board, let alone get to the board and figure out the ordering from the mess of names there. Of course other patrons are regulars and will not bother to let you know that you have to sign in. Fresh pizza slices were offered to the waiting patrons though, so it was quite thoughtful of them. But the server didn't tell me clearly to sign in even when I asked if I need to put my name down; she said someone, "brad", will take my name, or at least that's what I heard over the loud music and chattering. You have to put your name down yourself, which reads from left to right, btw. Why do some restaurants insist on making their patrons fight over who can be seated first themselves? It's a confusing and unfair system to new patrons that favors regulars. I was unfamiliar with the system and wrote my. I wrote my name down on the wrong sign of the board and was scolded by "brad". Two stars, so far, before trying the food.... 'k I had the Orechiette and it was just ok, so 3 stars overall. read more

We went to Nook before a show at PAL Theatre. It is a small restaurant, but not overly noisy, thus a nice place for a date. The service was friendly and efficient. We ordered Buratta with Prosciutto as the appetizer, which was good. For main course, we had the special pizza and special pasta. Both were good, but alas not unique. The total bill was over $100 before tips for the two of us. We had 3 glasses of wine, one appetizer and two main courses. No dessert. The food is good, very straightforward. Service is also quite friendly. If Nook were in San Francisco, I would give it 3 stars. But because it's in Vancouver, and also because it's in the West End, I'll give it 4 stars. Unfortunately, there's nothing on the menu spectacular enough that would earn this place 5 stars. Over two visits to Nook, we ordered the following: -- Greens with chickpeas,walnuts, pecorino (4*) The greens were good, dressed nicely. -- Burrata with prosciutto and white beans (5*) Simple, straightforward, impossible to f*ck up dish due to good ingredients. Prosciutto is nice and sweet, not too salty. Burrata is nice and creamy. Crostinis are nicely toasted and brushed with olive oil. Yum. -- Anchovy, olives, chiles pizza (3*) Disappointing. But you know what they say about pizza... The pizza was way too salty overall, the anchovies were unrecognizable on the pie, and the olives were unnecessary. I was expecting nicer fillets of anchovies, perhaps house-cured, but was disappointed by the mushy overcooked bits of fish. The crust was thin and crispy, but lacked body and chewiness. -- Italian sausage, onions, sweet pepper pizza (4*) Much better than the anchovy one. Onions were sweet, peppers were sweet, sausage was spicy but sadly just a bit overcooked. The crust was better this time. Still thin and crisp, but had a bit more chewiness to it. I should add that we ordered the anchovy pizza on our first visit, and the sausage one on our second visit. Maybe they had an off day on our first visit, or perhaps they are inconsistent making their dough. -- Rigatoni boscaiola (4*) Pasta was nicely cooked. Mushrooms good. The sauce was nice, not too rich or heavy. Not very exciting, but quite comforting. -- Chocolate budino (3*) There's a layer of salted caramel on top of the pudding that's a bit excessive. Half the amount of caramel would have pushed it up to 4 stars. The crunchy salt was just the right amount. -- Tiramisu (4*) A very straightforward tiramisu, which just the right amount of sweetness. Overall, nothing spectacular, but definitely worth returning to. read more

Nook had been on my list of places to try for a little while, and the other day my friend and I decided to give it a go after a day at the beach. Nook's a pretty casual joint, but we were wearing beach attire and we definitely brought the place down a bit. Despite this, the staff was very welcoming and friendly. We ordered a pasta with chorizo and a prosciutto/arugula pizza, and were blown away by both! The pasta was perfectly cooked. The pizza pretty much melted in the mouth. The ingredients were simple but tasty (and not too salty). Definitely some of the best italian food we've ever had, and the price was more than right. Highly recommended. read more

We had waited 2 mos in anticipation as our friends are regulars. We finally arrived into Vancouver & everything was top shelf as far as food & atmosphere. We were not disappointed as all the meals we ordered spoke for themselves. The only issue was with our server "Jara". From the moment we sat until we departed she took it upon herself to attempt to rush us out of the restaurant. We appreciate the need of ability to turn over tables. However, we ordered more than enough food including four bottles of their better wines over the night to compensate two tables turning over. Unfortunately, that would not suffice Jara's demeanor in the fact that one friend's flight had been delayed & why we could not order entrees immediately. Hence, she maintained pressure & rudeness which now temporarily reflects on this great restaurant. Next time we will refuse a table managed by Jara. Instead everyone should enjoy service from the cheerful gal in the Iron Maiden shirt or others. read more

We were setting at the bar because it was very busy! And it was awesome to sit there! The bartender was doing some appetizer and it was nice to see it! I know what I will take next time!!! For this time, we had a pizza and tiramisu and pinacotta! I can tell it was Very delicious! It is the first time I ate a tiramisu like this in Vancouver! The best in town! We had so many great meals this trip to Vancouver, it's hard to judge but honestly Nook gets 5 stars for service, friendliness, demeanor and FOOD! We had to wait about 40 minutes but we're used to that and they brought a nice Puglia wine while we chatted with fellow waiters in line so it was all good. Even when my son somehow dropped his glass of San Pellogrino and all 12 tables and the bar stopped in a hush for a moment, all we heard was don't move, we'll get it..and they did. No mortification, just concern. I ordered more wine. :) We started with the Special app of Fava beans, Burrata, toasted crostinis (freshly made at the bar!) and some seriously lovely Prosciutto. Two pizzas (margherita/Prosciutto) and a Spag Bol later, I ordered a beautiful Italian Latte (much better than Illy, so kudo's for finding this Nook! and we rolled out of there content and fat, but oh so happy. We went here based on a recommendation from a friend and we are so very glad we did! The food was delicious- Buffalo mozzarella, the focia bread, ricotta pizza and rigatoni. We sat at the bar, as it was first available and the bartender took our experience to the next level. He was extremely knowledgeable of Italian wines and listened to what blends we liked. And from there took us a step out of our comfort zone to some amazing wines we wouldn't have ordered ourselves. Overall, a delicious meal and amazing, personalized service! read more

I came here with friends the night before the marathon. Pizza was the tradition so we found a place close by that had good ratings. Nook was very good. The wait was a bit long (because people took their sweet time leaving after paying) and it got a bit awkward standing around in the front since it's so small but we eventually were able to sit down. The food was good and creative. We had the sausage pizza and the one with prosciutto and arugula along with some appetizers. The beer list was lacking but the two I had were decent. I usually prefer draught beer and $6 for a bottle seemed expensive. The food was good, with decent sizes, and not exceptionally expensive. I'd definitely go back there but probably at a less busy time. Pizza was thin crust, not too chewy with really good texture. The gnocchi and pasta were handmade in the restaurant and were light. The sauce and meatballs were delicious. We sat at the bar and talked to the owner the whole time. He had a lot of funny stories and he was a very charming and entertaining host. Good wine pairings also! read more

Really REALLY good margherita and the burrata pizza.. The service was friendly and efficient as well. I really like how the server was so cool with the fact that i kept changing my mind (because I know how annoying I can be!) but nonetheless, we ordered just enough food for five people (3 pizzas and 2 pastas!) The orrecchiette was too delish! And rigatoni was bomb too!! I would recommend this place over Nicli (also very good!!) but I prefer the crust, the cozy atmosphere and overall great service! read more

Nook is a small restaurant located in the west end. Love this place! A lot of the previous reviewers talked about the pizza here, but I am all about the pasta! The gnocchi with meatballs is amazing! Also love the spaghetti puttanesca. My only complaint is that they always seem to run out of white bean tapenade before the end of the night. This is such a favourite of mine that we've probably been about 4 times since they opened. I would love to see them expand their menu a bit. Maybe have two daily pasta specials instead of one. Nook is a really warm place which you feel like sitting there for hours. If you are sitting at the bar, it's fun to watch the bartender preparing the appetizers. I really adore the pizza at Nook. A huge, thin and crispy pizza with delicious toppings. The waitress told me that she couldn't believe that I finished the whole pizza! But, you know what happens when you taste those tasty flavours:) You can count on the bartenders choice about wine. I always tried something different and totally enjoyed it. Actually everything is great untill you check the bill. I'd like to go and eat something more often if the prices were more reasonable. read more

This place is dramatically overrated. Food is okay, but nothing special to justify high prices (don't expect less than $30 per person) or the usual lineups. I've had better for less. The menu is tiny and pathetic, they don't even have a decent salad. Not to mention complete absence of hot tea, but I'm used to that in Vancouver. Even though we were sitting away from the entrance, it was uncomfortably cold because the door was left open way too often. I understand getting in and out, but why do people think it's alright to talk through an open door in the winter? Not coming here again. read more

Great little restaurant! I had spaghetti bolognese and it was delicious. A little bite, but not too much. Great place to enjoy Italian.

Sure, the servers have a bit of a 'take it or leave it' attitude, and it isn't cheap. But it *IS* good pizza. Very good. Fresh toppings, perfect proportions, the crust just-so. The ricotta crostini app is awesome as well. This is certainly not cheap pizza, OR an 'authentic Italian pizzeria' but it is some of the best pizza I have had on the west coast (both Canada and America) and I will certainly be going back. The crowd was odd, for sure. But the bartender paid for our digestif limoncellos, for being good sports about the random drunk guy hitting on us. And the server asked us to come back for a fund raising event. Honest, sincere, no pretensions, good folk and food. read more

My boyfriend introduced me to Nook. The space is small, but cute. Service is alright. Food was tasty, definitely fresh as if the herbs were plucked that day. The flavors worked but nothing really stood out and WOWed me, save for their bruscetta. It's a simple starter but I don't think, for what it is, that it should have stolen the show. Nice ambiance and experience overall, a bit pricey. I will definitely return and try something new, hopefully more impressive. read more
