In town for work I was able to visit Nomad with local co-workers. We had a reservation and were tucked into a high top table near the front door. Usually this short girl struggles with a high top seat but the seat was comfortable and I had a place to put my feet. The restaurant was small-ish but does offer bar seating. We loved the pops of orange and modern vibe. I started with a refreshing glass of rose and ordered the flatbread. The crust was crispy with balsamic drizzle, arugula, prosciutto and gobs of delish cheese. The prosciutto was cut in cubes and plentiful but very salty. If I had this again I'd ask for less or for it to be left off. (My vegetarian co-worker did this and ate the entire flatbread!) The star of the show was a lemon curd cheesecake. It was delicious and unique, also very sweet so you might consider sharing. We experienced fantastic service at Nomad. Our server was upbeat, helpful and attentive. 1st time checking out this place in the Polaris area and I really enjoyed the overall experience~ The menu was interesting cz it included a mix of different cuisines, with a heavier Spanish influence. They use a Josper oven, a charcoal fired box, to reach incredibly high temperatures and create some very flavorful dishes with local ingredients. They also offer a kids menu. Every month my husband and I go to Columbus for a class, and afterwards we grab dinner with friends somewhere new. This time we went to Nomad and it was incredible! We arrived early and sat at the bar while waiting, and the bartenders were quite friendly and engaging. She even made me a virgin mojito (not on the menu) because I mentioned I couldn't drink with being pregnant. Honestly one of the best mojitos I've ever had! My hubs got the barrel aged black Manhattan and enjoyed it. It came with a luxardo cherry, and we were joking when our bartender asked if we needed anything else and we said more cherries, and they brought out a whole bowl of them for us! So nice and unexpected. This was their first night showcasing an Iberico ham leg, a special pig fed only acorns somewhere near Spain. They trace the lineage of each pig and can tell you it's grandfather which is wild. They roll it over to your table and shave off some pieces for you if ordered. It was a cool experience and tastes like better prosciutto. I had the zarzuela (seafood stew) which was delicious, and Nick had the Lomo Saltado. We both thought his steak was pretty chewy but the flavor was good. Our table shared the veggie board of grilled veggies, naan, and dipping sauces and they were delicious! Excellent customer service, food, and drinks! This is a nice little place to hang out and have a good time, good atmosphere. Our waiter was attentive and friendly. The drinks were great, a nice balance of uniqueness, alcohol and key flavors (a lot of smoky themes without it being overbearing). We ordered the aioli flight, it came with fries and 3 difference sauces, our favorite was the spicier one. Ee also had the bao buns which was flavorful and the ribeye. I tried the Pork Belly Steam Buns (2 for $7) and went for their Crab Hush Puppies (5 for $9) from their shareable's menu. Tasty steam buns. The pork belly had a great flavor and mixed with the slaw was a good compliment. The Hush Puppies balls were good-sized and cheesy yet a vague hint of sweet. I'm not a mustard fan, so I can't comment on the accompanied swirl on the plate. I enjoyed the general atmosphere here. Finding parking is not an issue here, as Nomad is in the burbs. This just did not live up to the hype for me. Cocktails and service were fantastic, but the food did not deliver. I ordered jerk chicken and it had no jerk seasoning, or any seasoning, at all. Tasted like a plain old grilled chicken breast we could have made at home. Rice was also totally under seasoned. I was loading up everything with salt and pepper just to make it edible. Highly recommend as it hits all of the high notes. I've driven passed Nomad so many times, and finally decided to go for dinner. We had a Friday evening reservation, and were sat immediately. The restaurant itself isn't very large, but is very functional. There is a large bar area when you walk in, and a pretty impressive bourbon display. As for the food, their menu seems to change with the seasons which is really cool. We ordered 2 appetizers and 2 sandwiches. The Aioli Flight was so incredible, and the habanero aioli was by far the best (if you like heat). The Pork Belly Steamed Bun was good, but I've had better at other restaurants. The Black Garlic Cheesesteak was my favorite. The bread was soft but was sturdy enough to hold its own (hard bread on these types of sandwiches is a huge letdown), and the shaved ribeye was cooked great. My wife enjoyed the Crispy Chicken sandwich as she's a huge fan of King's Hawaiian rolls. It has been quite a while since I have visited Nomad, but thought about their food recently, so the dishes I have tried are no longer on the current menu. Nomad opened during the pandemic, and their presence adds to the increasing number of unique restaurant concepts in the Polaris area which I am very happy about. Nomad's concept of creating dishes from around the world with a special oven is certainly intriguing, so I had to give it a try not long after they opened. First, my friend and I ordered the Lomo Saltado, a Peruvian dish. The beef was tender, seasoned well, and the sauce that it came with was just so good! I especially loved the wedge fries in the dish, but that might just be because of my love for potatoes. For my entree, I ordered chicken (don't remember what it's called) and I got a LOT of it. While the chicken had great flavor and was juicy on the inside, having to eat around all the bones was rather inconvenient. Additionally, the oven seemed to have burnt the chicken quite a bit, leading to somewhat of a bitter taste. The sides that came with the entree were delicious. The prices are certainly on the high side in my opinion, but certainly worth a try nonetheless given how unique the oven is and the lovely decor within the restaurant. Just left a meal from our first (and definitely last) visit here. The food was overall pretty good. What got us upset was the completely abysmal service and the "bait and switch" from the pricing. It may have been because our waitress was completely negligent towards our table, but we asked beforehand how the fixed meal worked. She said it was regular portions for apps, and then any entree and dessert. We ordered the spaghetti (very good) and couscous with shrimp (no taste in the couscous) for the adults, in addition to two kids meals (kids liked the pizza and spaghetti). Final bill came, and we were charged the additional $10 for the shrimp. Then there was the fact that our waitress only came to take our order and put food down. We got zero check-ins, and then we couldn't find her when we were done for about 20 minutes and were waiting to put in our dessert order, in addition to running out of water for half of our meal. When the final bill came, we saw that the credit card surcharge was 3%. For a $145 + tip meal (2 adults, 2 kids, only one drink), I shouldn't have to chase our waitress down and then find out that we were charged additional for a credit card and then the shrimp. We could have literally gone to almost other restaurant for less money, especially when two of the meals were $8. We were there for over an hour, and not a single person checked on us for the duration of our meal. At one point I just started stacking our plates up. The food itself was, overall, pretty good. Ribs appetizer were the winner. We might as well have been a self-service table, though, and for $170 in all, that's totally unacceptable. read more

The story about their Josper over, which cooks food at incredibly high temps (from Spain, there's only 100 of these ovens are in North America, according to the website), I was intrigued. My wife and I decided to try it out for our anniversary. The decor was typical of a gastropub, with original artwork on the walls and dim lighting. The staff treated us very well. The manager even offered us a gratis glass of Prosecco, which he told us was left over from a large party the night before. Score one for us! As an appetizer, we got the house fries, topped with Parmesan, Fresno chilies sauce, and scallions, which was just okay. My wife wanted to get the spare rib ravioli, and man, were those tasty! Highly recommend! For our main course, I got the Moroccan couscous (pearl couscous), and added chicken. As said before, the Josper over cooks food at extremely high temps, and the chicken was charred, and an artichoke was charred as well. That artichoke may have been the best artichoke I've ever had. My wife got the fired black cod, which was in a New England stew. She enjoyed it, but it was the ravioli that had been the star in her eyes. Lastly, I got the tiramisu, and she got the cheesecake. Both were good. Nothing to rave about, but a good way to finish a meal. This place is pricey, as we spent well over $100 for the two of us, but that included a few drinks, not including the free bubbly. For us, it was a good special occasion restaurant. The service was quick, the atmosphere was fine, the food however was fair at best. At their prices you would expect higher quality. Babysitter booked last minute for a date night only to recall it was the last Saturday of Restaurant Week. Cue zero reservations available in central Ohio. We called Nomad and found that there were seats open at the bar and had a delightful experience. Crispy Brussels appetizer was a great start and the sweet potatoes added a fun balance. The cocktail Walnuts Roasting on an Open Fire was complex and delicious though my palate is not discerning enough to have tasted the pear. For mains, my husband and I shared both a kale salad with shrimp and the lomo soltado (LS). LS is the national dish of Peru and this was definitely an Americanized take but WOW, the flavors were fantastic. We will definitely be back to Nomad. read more

Nomad opened its doors in July 2020, but we came during Restaurant Week in January 2021. We made a reservation on a Friday night, and upon arriving, we saw the restaurant was packed, and there didn't appear to be any bussers. I observed later that the hostess was clearing tables, and not in the most efficient way, basically grabbing as many items in her arms as possible, and having to make several trips to clear the table. For starters, we split the Grilled Pear and Goat Cheese Salad. The spring greens, goat cheese, almonds, wood grilled pear, and ciabatta croutons were well proportioned and well mixed with the champagne vinaigrette. I recommend it. For the main course, we split the Pork Chop, which included wood grilled pears. It was ok. For dessert, we had the Chocolate Tower, a six-layer chocolate ganache cake, and it is no joke! It was good! In conclusion, I would come here again, but probably not on a Friday night. It was very busy, and a bit loud (for me). I'd probably come for a brunch. Be aware that the online menu is not complete. Came for a birthday dinner and the staff were very nice and welcoming and even provided a dessert with candle. We got the barrel aged Manhattan that was made perfectly. Along with some appetizers, the fries and remulade dips and we recommend. Along with the bacon spoon bread which was a nice and fluffy cornbread. Our entrees were large and tasty. Really like the venison as it was cooked perfectly. Also the Korean fried chicken was massive and both meals are big enough to share. I've had my eye on this place for awhile as I've been to Gigis across the street several times yet I'm rarely out in the Polaris area from 4pm on which is the time that they're open. Broused their menu online and everything posted appeared culinarily pleasing to the palate so we decided to give them a try. Boy oh boy we definitely weren't disappointed! Happy hour drinks were a home run, and potent. Kids meal was a slam dunk with the little one. Appetizers were freshly made and everything flowed as far as crunchy, salty, saucy for a great combination in regards to the aioli flight. The oven fired brussel sprouts and yams or sweet potatoes were out of this world. Duck was exquisitely prepared and the Korean Fried Chicken was the definition of mouthwatering. Apple Crumb cake set the night off towards the end. They have a rotating menu so there are no guarantees these items will still be on the menu so if you'd like to try them then hurry up and go soon. If you feature grilled peaches, you would expect something juicy and sweet to complement the salt bomb the rest of the dish brings. No. The peaches were tasteless and firm. They should not have been served. If the kitchen didn't have any ripe juicy peaches, the chef should have held the peach dishes until appropriate. I would have ordered a steak dish if I knew the peaches weren't going to be any good. I would give Nomad another try. Some may consider it unsophisticated, but I even ate the grapefruit at the bottom. Didn't want the infused grapefruits to go to waste. There was only a hint of smokiness. Vodka gimlet is my drink. Was surprised to see it on the menu. Even more surprised how good it was. Made with Tito's. Had both the Peruvian flank steak and the bacon wrapped scallops. My wife and I stopped into Nomad for an early supper around 4:30 on a Tuesday. We were one of two tables at that point, but the place started to fill up by the time we were finished. We lucked out with their rotating happy hours schedule, as Tuesdays offer 25% off of their three course meal deal. This includes one appetizer or salad, one entree, and one desert. It's $45 normally, with an upcharge for a couple of the steak entrees. Anyway, we started with a couple of house cocktails. I had the Gin Luc Picard. This is not something that I would normally order as a beer and wine kind of guy, but I'm glad I did. It was f---ing fantastic! My wife tried the Good Times and Tan Lines, and although a bit sweet for me, she really enjoyed it. We then each had salads, which were also interesting and realy good. I had the Caesar, and it was the real deal right down to the anchovies. My wife had the Nomad Caprese, which could have been a light meal by itself. My wife then had the Moroccan Couscous with shrimp, and I ordered the Lomo Salado. Her meal was very interesting and she loved it. Mine was a little more basic. It was vert tasty and the cut of beef was nice, but if I'm honest all of the accompaniments were over salted. For desert my wife had the Chocolate Hazelnut Mousse, which may have been the best mousse I've ever tried. I had the Angel Food Cake, which was not as expected - the macerated strawberries were baked into he cake, resulting in something unique and fantastic. This was a very heavy meal with large portions of everything, and you may not want to go this route unless your looking to go big. We were absolutely stuffed. I would warn that this is also not an inexpensive place, with everything described above coming to nearly $120 before tip. Seriously one of the most pleasant surprises ever. My husband and I are both HUGE FANS of Nomad. I can't remember being able to reserve a spot at the bar - our fav place - and Nomad didn't have any problems flexing our time in on a Saturday night of all things. We had the bruschetta and fries flight which was DIVINE. I had the scallops. He took the jerk chicken. We couldn't have been happier with our selections. Our bartender was a doll. Normally I'm all about my glass of wine but she was so inspiring for the cocktails mainly the several made by their own staff their own unique recipes I couldn't resist. We stopped in for a quick meal and enjoyed tasty cocktails and had a difficult time selecting our food choices since there were so many enticing options. We elected to order the Japanese Shrimp which was very good but only had three shrimp. In addition we had the Blistering Shishito Peppers which were cooked perfect and the yuzu shoyu sauce was a tasty dipping sauce. Finally we split the Coq au Vin and everything was delicious. They even split the meal for us which is always a welcome touch. We will definitely be back. read more
