My friend and I celebrated my birthday at Barcelona last weekend. I was fiending for scallops so I picked them for my main entree. I love me some beets so I chose that for my salad. Both dishes were amazing. The scallops were cooked to perfection and covered with a lucious cream sauce. The service was excellent and they threw in a free chocolate lava cake + vanilla ice cream for my birthday complete with lighted candle! I'm only giving 4 stars because it lacked ADA accommodation. Very tall step to get into the restaurant and no handicap stalls in the bathroom. I have mobility issues and this is very important when I'm choosing where to dine. read more

Barcelona was once one of our favorite restaurants for special occasions and somewhere we would recommend without hesitation, which made this visit especially disappointing. We returned to celebrate another important milestone, hoping for the memorable experience we had come to associate with the restaurant. While the staff made an effort to recognize our celebration, we ultimately left wondering whether we had made the right choice. [[HIGHLIGHT]]From the moment we walked in, the reception felt surprisingly cold. There was none of the warmth or welcoming atmosphere you expect from a restaurant at this level, especially one that has built a reputation as a destination for special occasions.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Our server, however, was genuinely one of the bright spots of the evening. She was friendly, attentive, and clearly wanted us to have a great experience. There were a few hiccups along the way, including our bill arriving incorrectly and needing to be corrected, but her positive attitude and willingness to make things right more than made up for those mistakes. We ordered the Empanadas, Patatas Bravas, Chorizo al Vino Blanco, and the Bistec. The Empanadas were easily the standout of the evening and the one dish I would wholeheartedly recommend. The remaining dishes, while technically well prepared and cooked properly--especially the Bistec--simply lacked the depth, balance, and boldness of flavor that should define a meal at this caliber. Dish after dish left us waiting for that moment when the flavors would come alive and take our palates somewhere memorable, but it never happened. At this price point, I expect more than food that's merely cooked correctly. I expect flavors that surprise me, dishes that are thoughtfully layered, and an experience that leaves me talking about the meal long after I've left. Instead, I found myself thinking of several restaurants--some at the same price point and others even less expensive--that deliver a far more memorable culinary experience. Nothing we ate was bad, but very little was exciting. Unfortunately, that made the meal feel forgettable rather than worth celebrating. The restaurant also brought us a complimentary molten chocolate lava cake with ice cream to celebrate our occasion, and it was absolutely delicious. We sincerely appreciated the gesture, and ironically, it ended up being the most memorable thing we ate all evening. It's honestly the one item that would make me consider coming back. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Unfortunately, the lack of attention to detail extended beyond the food. The restroom trash cans were overflowing, something I'll include a photo of with this review. It may seem minor, but details like that matter.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Restaurants that position themselves as destinations for special occasions succeed because they consistently get the little things right. We also expected that, knowing we were celebrating, a manager might stop by to ask how everything was. No one ever did. This wasn't a bad dinner. In many ways, that's what made it more disappointing. We arrived talking about how Barcelona was one of the best restaurants in the city and a place we had always recommended with confidence. We left thinking about all the other restaurants--some at the same price point and others less expensive--that would have delivered a more flavorful and memorable experience. After this visit, I'd be much more hesitant to return or recommend it to others. Last night we visited Barcelona for dinner with a reservation for four at 6:30. Our waiter seemed like being there was a chore, which made the experience feel less welcoming. We ordered several tapas to share, and one of our dishes was accidentally forgotten. When we asked about it, it felt like the mistake was being blamed on us rather than acknowledged. That said, the food was excellent and definitely the highlight of the evening. We shared the house-made sourdough bread with Spanish olive oil, tomato vinaigrette, and Maldon salt, Marcona almonds, Patatas Bravas, empanadas, burrata with compressed watermelon and Jamón Serrano, the flat iron steak, and the garlic shrimp. The standout dishes for me were the Camarones al Ajillo (garlic shrimp) that is perfectly cooked with Basque pepper, chile, and olive oil and the flat iron steak, which was incredibly flavorful. The burrata was also a refreshing summer dish, and the Patatas Bravas were a great classic tapa. Overall, I'd absolutely return for the food because it was delicious, but I hope the service is warmer next time since it didn't quite live up to the quality of the meal. read more

Came here in November 2025 on a Sunday night with my beloved college friends. It was my first time being in Ohio, and Barcelona was the best place to celebrate that. We did have to wait a bit to be seated but were thankfully at a nice table in the corner so our large party could be comfortable and private. I do recall the table or a chair being rickety and a waiter immediately assisting to make sure it would stop shifting which was amazing. We ordered a ton of tapas to share (6-7) to share amongst 6 people - all the dishes I tried were fantastic. My favorite was surprisingly the patatas - they were nice and crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside, and were very flavorful. I also enjoy meat quite a bit so the braised short rib and steak were great too. Highly recommend also getting the pan - the sauce was addicting! I'm so impressed Barcelona extends its happy hour to the weekend. Friends and I visited during a Saturday happy hour. We enjoyed a few tapas items and mocktails. The patatas bravas were seasoned well but the potatoes were too soft. I prefer crispy potatoes. The short rib was delicious. The mocktails were well made. The bartenders were super attentive despite a busy happy hour. I honestly don't understand the hype surrounding Barcelona. We ordered a bottle for the table to pair with our tapas. We tried the churassco, wine braised chorizo, and ordered a paella de marisco. The tapas portions are enough to have as a meal or 2 to be really stuffed. The paella portions are huge and are enough to serve about 2-3 people. I was pleasantly surprised how good the paella turned out since moving from Miami I have been very skeptical of any Latin or seafood in Columbus (sorry...) but the flavors were delicious!! Every tapas dish I had was extremely odd. I get what they were trying for but none of the 4 dishes I had landed. The potatoes weren't cooked right, the asparagus dish was lackluster, the clams were pretty decent but didn't come with enough bread, and the steak dish was drowning in an unnecessary amount of sauce. We shared the verde paella, filete de hierro plane, and the roasted vegetables. Portion sizes seem kinda small ish. Food seemed high quality but I wasn't impressed. Decent. Not the most flavorful. The paella was unique though. It was vegetarian and the beans added a nice texture to it. Staff was nice. He explained the menu and what was popular. I sat at the bar at Barcelona, and the bartenders were the best part of the experience. The service was excellent--attentive, friendly, and professional. I also had the best dirty martini I've ever had there. We ordered several tapas, including the Jamon y Queso, Empanadas, Coliflor Gratinado (which the bartender recommended), Camarones al Ajillo, and the Costillas. The cheese plate was good but I hate bread that breaks your teeth. The empanadas were very bready, crispy buttery delicious bread. But not much depth. The sauce was very good. The cheesy cauliflower was the standout and the only dish we finished completely. The shrimp was fresh but simple. The braised short rib was rich and flavorful, but heavy and I didn't find myself reaching back for more. Overall, the food was good but didn't stand out enough to bring me back for the same meal. All-around excellence. I used to live in German Village, apparently before Barcelona moved in. And then when it showed up I kept hearing about it but it was far off my usual routes. Lately I've been hanging out down there more, and the other day while driving by I saw that they have lunch hours (before they didn't, or I assumed they didn't.) So I stopped in today, right when they opened. Much bigger inside than I expected. And much nicer. I knew it was a bit upscale, but it is just gorgeous inside. I felt a little underdressed in my t-shirt, one of my nicer ones but still. There was hardly anyone there, though, and the staff didn't make me feel that way, so it was fine. There are many seating options inside, and a beautiful patio. Soft relaxing Spanish music playing (and apparently they often have live music.) And the menu. Oh, my. So many things looked good. I didn't have a lot of time and wasn't starving, so I went with gazpacho and the bocata sandwich. The waiter pointed out that I could make a cup of gazpacho one of the sides with the sandwich, so I did that. Worked great, though the soup was so good I could have easily eaten more (and left overstuffed.) The gazpacho was thick and luscious, and looked and tasted like it was made with ingredients fresh from your backyard. The bocata... Well, picture a sub. Okay, now give it excellent bread, savory Spanish meats, great cheese, fresh tasty greens. Oh, and a slightly-spicy pepper pinned on top. Great parts, great balance, great sandwich. I had Pellegrino with it, appropriate and refreshing on a hot day. They offered dessert but I didn't have room or time. I will definitely be back for that, paella, calamari, and more. read more

We decided to check out Barcelona on a Friday during the weekend of the Arnold. We ordered a few tapas to share and had some drinks. We had the calamares fritos , coles de bruselas and the patatas bravas. , The waiter recommended the filete de hierro which we got as well. I have to say I loved all of the tapas aside from the filete de hierro, it was quite tough. For drinks my girlfriend had the key lime martini and I had the carajillo. We both loved our drinks. Overall we had a great experience, I wish I remembered our waiters name but he was amazing. We will definitely be back during warmer weather to check out the lovely patio! read more

I sat at the bar for a quick bite that turned into a meal! Started with red sangria and mussels. The red da grit was nice and refreshing and the mussels were hearty and delicious! Moved on to a tempranillo, shaved brussel sprouts (with goat cheese), and flank steak. All was delicious - the steak came with a smoked tomato romesco that was very nice! Bartender was great with wine recommendations and letting me taste wines before I bought. Finished with a dessert wine flight and a cheese plate. Understand - they don't have a cheese plate, so they served cheese and accompaniments from the charcuterie board without the meats. It was massive. First time I've had to take cheese home! Previously came here on a Saturday evening for my 4th anniversary dinner. Such a beautiful chic restaurant with a lot of culture and love. It's vibrant, fun, and elegant with the perfect dim lighting for a romantic feel. The service was outstanding as the servers were very attentive to make sure we were enjoying both our time there and the food. She did an amazing job at explaining the dishes and recommended items that we would enjoy. The food was a bit pricy, but it was still filling at the end of the visit. The food was absolutely amazing when it came to taste! My rack of lamb from the paella de Cordero was cooked to perfection, which is often hard to do with lamb! Thus it won bonus points from me. The seafood paella's freshness and quality made it taste heavenly. We both left extremely satisfied and delighted with the entire experience. It was definitely worth the slight splurge.
