    Fireproof Potatoes

Came here a few months ago and was absolutely impressed! Happy hour deal was great: Hummus with naan was delicious, potatoes were yummy and spicy, and pork belly hit the spot! Service was Kylie was great we felt compelled to speak with their GM Bree to share the good news. This place can be pretty casual but I didn't feel out of place in my suit as I had just come from work. We were lucky to find parking meter right out front, but it did seem like parking might be tough during certain hours. Will definitely come back next time I'm in town!

I love everything that we got. Special call out to the Wagyu Skirt Steak and the Peach Perfect Buttercake. We got our steak medium rare. It cooked perfectly and pair well with that housemade chimichurri. I would have to have a moment with the Peach Perfect Buttercake. That buttercake is buttery and super moist. Topped with that peach compote and a scoop of vanilla ice cream. My favorite dessert of all time.

During restaurant week we decided to check out a new restaurant. Located in the Short North we decided on Fireproof. We started with a couple drinks, well made the butterfly pea lemonade was delicious and pretty. We then moved onto appetizers and ordered flaming cheese, shrimp cocktail and a salad. The cheese was delicious, shrimp were very large and the salad portion was generous. Dinners came and we had chorizo meatballs, strip steak and baked salmon. The strip steak was the star, it was cooked perfectly and was delicious. Now on to dessert, everything was great but the tiramisu cheesecake or the lemon tart was probably our favorite. We had wonderful service and would absolutely come back again!

Frequent visitor (I'm the Duke ) here tonight for Restaurant Week. Not sure what is happening but things are a bit off the rails. The mussels were sent back. Not good eww. We were seated at a high top near the kitchen and there was a narrow space between the table and the booths. The wait staff decided to use this as a shortcut rather than walk around. It get it, your busy, but having our meal and conversations interrupted every 2-3 minutes was just annoying. Aside from the not great mussels the rest of the meal was on par. I know you can do better!!!!

A bit disappointed.I came to fireproof a year ago and had a wonderful experience.. but tonight when I came in we were the only table in the entire place on a Thursday evening. I was confused why it was so empty because I remembered this place being great, but it was pretty disappointing. The service was quick and our server was nice, but the food was totally underwhelming and very overpriced. They specialize in expensive small plates, that just aren't all the exciting or good. The waygu sliders and they were simply not waygu. It was not good at all. The egg rolls were decent, but also, underwhelming. They do have some really fun drinks, featuring fire, but that's about it. The place is decorated really cool, and has potential, but the food was not nearly as good as I remembered and definitely not worth the price sadly.

Pricey but the service is great Big shoutout to Kelvin (hope I spelled it right boss). Came in with a party of 10, and we did our best to order everything in the menu. I never saw him right anything down, and he didn't miss a single item.... He did come back with some disappointing news twice, first that they were out of the lobster tacos and then again that they were out of the branzino, which was crushing .... But not his fault. He was kind enough to offer a few substitutes that were available in stock I'm the alcohol side of the house I highly recommend the Spanish old fashion. Food wise the wagyu skirt steak was probably my favorite. The scallops were good, but a bit salty for my taste. I don't recommend the half chicken, it was bland IMHO, the Elote was good but too Smokey for my taste. The pork belly melts in your mouth, but I'm indifferent to the sauce/glaze. I would also highly recommend the wagyu dumplings All in all, great first visit, and I'll definitely be back in the future

Checked this place out for the first time, we paid parking across the street and was seated promptly we had a reservation. We opted for the chef's tasting for $89/person. We were told it's a Tapas place so not big servings but enough for two to share. It was 5 course meal w/ appetizer but no desert and wine pairs are not included. The owner himself explained to us the menu and wine pairings, 'twas nice. 1. Cheese and meat - great assortment of cheeses. 2. Patatas Bravas - tasty, elevated gourmet fries. 3. Burrata Salad - sweet, refreshing good balance to all the saltiness of other dishes. 4. Octopus - blah. It's a tiny strip. Tasted boiled with this sweet sauce, not complementing each other at all. 5. Grilled Shrimp - juicy and tasty, polenta was good. 6. Beef Medallions- really tender and seasoned well. The wine pairing was about $70+ it was a nice experience. Happy tummy!

Great meal at Fireproof in the Short Nortb. Lots of vegetarian options! Delicious food, great cocktail menu, high prices so be prepared for an expensive meal. 4 of us ordered a variety from the menu and would recommend almost everything - flaming cheese, patatas bravas, buratta salad, grilled shrimp, pork belly. The only thing we didn't like was the elote (spices were overpowering). Drink orders were a bit slow but otherwise service was attentive and made for an enjoyable experience. Nice decor and ambiance.

Good food. A bit pricey. Good luck with parking. Even if you park in a spot that doesn't have a "special" sign out back for residents parking you still might have your car towed at an expense of $150. The restaurant will tell you "happens all the time, sorry".

Very disappointed by my visit. I made reservations to have brunch on New Year's Day in advance and when making mg reservations it seemed like the place would be busy as there were few slots open. When we arrived it was relatively empty and the host seemed to be preoccupied. The decorations were cute, but our booth was horribly designed. It had arms like a chair that you had to practically sit on and slide in as the table was blocking the way. In addition, they were extremely deep seated and you could barely reach the table. The service was extremely disappointing as well. We never had one main server, just multiple people repeating the same questions and being overall confused. One server took our drink order and then we saw him immediately leave the building, those drinks never came but somehow showed up on our receipt? We also ordered an espresso martini, shots of espresso, and a mimosa that never showed up. However, we were so over the service we just never asked for them again. I wasn't expecting the food to be amazing, but was somehow still disappointed. It was extremely expensive with small portion sizes and low quality. My eggs Benedict were $17 and the pork fried rice was $18. The eggs were cold and almost had to no hollandaise sauce. The pork fried rice was mediocre at best and gave my friend a horrible stomach ache and left him in the bathroom. My friends and I left and immediately wanted to go to another restaurant as we were still starving. Before we left, we heard a server telling another table that their oven had broken and there was a longer wait until usual, they had stopped seating people, and they were only able to make one meal at the moment. Unsure how the kitchen messes up that badly during a busy day for brunch? Would not recommend this place ever. Service was horrible, food was bad, and everything was expensive. Would advise avoiding coming here if at all possible.

Restaurant Week Edition: Food was excellent! Everything tasted amazing, I wanted to savor every bite. The steak came out at a perfect medium rare. The bottle of Pinot we ordered came out rather cold which alarmed us at first thinking it may not have been stored properly. After about 10 minutes, it tasted delicious. Would recommend everything. Service was great. Server was nice. The host seemed to run the show because he was sort of taking care of everything, everywhere, all at once. Restaurant was a well oiled machine. Some would say that it is in fact, Fireproof.

Updated menu alert! Went there on a Friday night. I was warmly and professionally received by the staff! Bartenders were excellent and reminded me that their menu had been recently updated as well as their drink menu! I highly recommend this place! This is a great restaurant for a date night or to catch up with friends!

Horrible experience!! I had tried Fireproof for the first time for happy hour a few weeks ago and enjoyed it. The service needed improvement but the food was good so decided to try their brunch today. Boy was that a mistake. The place wasn't busy but it took forever to get drinks and food. We both ordered a spicy Bloody Mary as soon as we sat down but it took forever to get them. I could see they were made sitting up at the bar but our waiter had zero amount of urgency. We finally had to ask him to bring them to our table. The same thing happened when ordering the second round of drinks. We came to drink and decided to not order any more drinks because it was taking forever. We had already ordered food so rather than leave we waited and waited for our food. Again remember the place wasn't busy. My friend ordered a traditional breakfast which should have been super quick to cook. I ordered the skirt steak with scrambled eggs which should have been made super fast. However, we waited and continued to wait. I finally had to get someone to check on the order. They then brought my friends meal out first while I continued to wait for my meal. If you've ever made skirt steak and scramble eggs you know how quick they are to make. I couldn't figure what was taking so long. Finally my meal was brought to the table. And rather than scrambled eggs I got a fried egg. My order was incorrect after all that wait. I was so frustrated at this point I wasn't about to have them recook it. While the steak was delicious, the whole experience was tainted by the horrible service. I can't see myself ever coming back.

Fried rice was the worst thing I've ever eaten. I don't know how this is a specialty because it was gross. They were nice about taki

It's so creative, and the drinks are really the stellar stand out here. However, the atmosphere of those drinks is what gives me pause when thinking about coming back. The limited table situation, tiny cramped space, and loud music means that it doesn't feel particularly relaxing. People are constantly brushing up against you (even at 5PM), and holding a conversation at a normal distance is nearly impossible. NOTE: This place is covered in dust. No shade to the ownership as it doesn't appear to be anywhere near food prep areas (it's on the decor, on/around shelving, all over the faux plants, etc.), but if you're someone who's sensitive to dust, this is probably not a good fit. PROS: -I loooooooove how they've done their drink menu. As someone who is still exploring the potential of cocktails, their nerdy "chart" that places all of their drinks on a sweet/bitter and alcohol-forward/approachable visual chart is SUCH a help. As such, everything I ordered was absolutely amazing for me. I knew exactly what to expect from a drink because of its position on the chart, and it delivered. -Their drinks are really unique. Aqua faba? Fat washed alcohols? Lollipops or toasted marshmallows as garnishes? Super cool. Don't let some of the weirder descriptions creep you out of trying them. -All of their drinks were delicious. Everything I ordered was exactly as described. I often go places where the taste is barely related to its namesake, but they were entirely on-point here. CONS: -I'm not sure if someone called off that night as other reviewers are in love with the service, but our service was really really slow. No real rapport with the staff; just stating the name of a drink as they rushed past and then they were off to try to clean a table or take someone else's order. The drinks they made were great, but this isn't somewhere we'd go if we were in a hurry. -The pictures do not accurately convey how small this place is. Like, it's small. I'd guess less than 1000 square feet. My apartment is bigger by a lot. This isn't necessarily an issue, but it means people pile up quickly as they wait for seating (there's like 4/5 tables and then bar seating). The human walkways are small enough that the bartenders and other guests will brush against you a lot - even while seated. -I get the vibe they were going for here, but with the smaller space, I think a lot of the potential decor options had to "go" in order to fit more humans. It's giving me hardcore The Hearth Room (in Cincinnati) vibes, and I think it could honestly pull it off if it simply had more space. The "relaxed, sophisticated bourbon bar" doesn't quite come through as well when things are so focused on simply fitting in more bodies. -It's loud AF. Like, really, really loud. Between all the people and the blasting pop music, it required leaning into someone's ear in order to speak at normal volumes. We'd regularly have to pause the conversation if something in the music was building to a drop. This is not a place I'd take someone I wasn't very very comfortable with because it really requires being in someone's space to talk. -There's a single all-gender toilet here for everyone in the establishment. It's basically a revolving door of people in and out of it. The door auto-closes, however, so it's really difficult to figure out if it's open or not. There was usually a queue of people waiting in front of the door.

The bartenders clearly care about the drinks, and it shows in the freshness of their ingredients, how they pour, and even the pre-chilled drinkware. Every drink is made with intention, and even when I order a "classic", it's clear it's made with attention to detail. All of this while being on-par or cheaper with most of the Short North bars. Astoundingly cheaper than any of the rooftop locales. Seating is plentiful. You order at the bar and take your drink to sit wherever you'd like. Most of the seating/decor looks like it's from IKEA, but it's clean, modern, and comfy, and it's great for enjoying your drinks as you converse with friends. Denmark's vibe is very heavily "enjoyed high-end, balanced flavors in the company with friends and people you love to talk to". This is not a place to come to "pregame" for later activities.
