A lively tratorria with positive energy. One of the better wood oven pizzas I've had in Toronto. Not overly doughy with a crisp base, ample crust and quality ingredients. I had the Quattro Stella, mushrooms, artichoke, prosciutto cotto and olives. My wife, from Rome, went with a white pizza, BORGORICCO. Burrata, zucchini, cherry tomato & mozzarella. It looked amazing, sadly she refused to share but she did rave about it after. Drink wise we kept it simple with a glass of Valpolicella Ripasso and prosecco. For dessert we split a tiramisu. This was more of a sponge cake version, good for what it was. Friendly and knowledgeable service. Prices were fairly standard and acceptable for the quality. My partner and I cane here for my birthday dinner. We shared the foccacia, bolognese, and mushroom gnocchi. The foccacia was fresh and tasty but a bit too hard for me. What stood out for us was the delicious gnocchi- it was so chewy and the cream sauce wasn't too heavy. The bolognese was also good. I booked a table to celebrate a friend's birthday 10 days in advance. Five minutes before i arrived at the restaurant I received a phone call from the restaurant telling me that they had given our table to a large party who were celebrating a communion. They told me I would now have to wait one and 1/2 hours for a table. Finally got a chance to try this place after walking by it a couple times to and fro my optometrist. The entrance of the restaurant is a bit difficult to find as the restaurant itself is a U shaped and the entrance is not labelled. Inside it was very well decorate and on the seating side of the restaurant you got lots of mirrors. The servers were excellent. Polpettine - Meatballs with tomato sauce. When eaten together there was a decent flavour. Wished the meatballs were more seasoned. Nice to try. Broccolini - Cooked very nicely as it had the perfect texture. Flavour was a bit underwhelming and would have wanted more salt. Quattro Stelle pizza - The pizza dough was one of the best I've had! Airy and crispy and a nice light chew. The toppings on the otherhand was a bit disappointing, I didn't think the items came well together. Would get another pizza next time. Chocolate torta - Very dense chocolate flavour which was augmented by the bitterness of coffee. Torta was really heavy and ice cream made it better to eat. Nice to try. It sees that the restaurant has good textures and are cooked perfectly. I do wished that their food was a bit more seasoned. It could possibly be due to me ordering the wrong items. There were other kids here so we didn't feel bad about bringing a toddler here! The pasta was so so good and the portions were hearty. We had a private event here the other night. The appetizers we got (calamari, arincini, meatballs, charcuterie) were probably the best out of all the food we had for the night. The gnocchi pasta we had was very doughy and mushy... was not appetizing at all. The chicken was also very dry and made it hard to eat. Many people who ordered the chicken did not end up finishing it. My friend had the fish which I fried and was definitely better than the fish though not good either. Overall, the food was very mediocre. Drinks on the other hand was great and shoutout to the two bartenders, they did amazing. read more

I came here solo to sit at the bar and hoped to have a relaxing meal. It wand as anything but. The service was horrendous, like next-level zero common sense. The restaurant was barely a 1/4 full when I came around 6pm on a Monday, scattering andhad to get the hostess' attention to be seated. I was the only person on the bar, sat there for 15mn without anyone coming around, no water, no greeting nothing. Once I hailed down the younger man behind the bar pulling him away from scattering around the glasswasher, I asked to place my whole order: a fettuccine pasta of the day, a glass of red and the water. The wine came about 5mn later, the had to ask two more times for the water then twice for the bread (two pieces of foccacia). The man said he'd "pass it along to the bartender". I saw the same two men behind the bar but focused purely on service bar,It was not the actual people sitting at the bar. Another customer arrived after me and was eating well before me. Twenty minutes passed by and no pasta was simply eating bread. I asked the older man behind the bar (keep in mind they never once came down to chekc in on me, ask how I'm doing or even but more have the common sense that I'm sitting there with no meal). He checked the system and said "you didn't get it?" I figured it wasn't rung in or the man sitting down from me looked like he was eating it. He then said two min (was another 10mn). No apology, no one owning anything, was a bitchy vibe too. I do not know what's going on with the service industry, but basic politeness and simple service is present here. If everyone seemed so scattered on a non-busy night, I can only imagine how things would unravel on a hopping night. My friend came to pick me up and I asked the older man for the bill. I see they charged me $6 for the bread which I promptly asked could they not even comp that considering I was ignored all night and waited over a half hour with no apologies for a pasta dish. And I still tipped which is ridiculous of me. The food is ok, but the organization is lame. Only come here if you want to feel unwelcomed and put off the employees from having the nerve to walk in for a meal. read more

Delightful. The food is excellent as are the staff and vibe. I came here with my daughters (11 yrs and 5 yrs) and we really enjoyed ourselves. My youngest ordered a giant plate of lamb chops and proceeded to eat and wear them but not to be outdone my oldest who managed to get more pasta sauce on her white shirt than in her mouth. Once my filthy progeny finished painting the establishment with half their meals we settled up (quite reasonable despite the little one's lamb chops) and we walked home. A good time was had by all. The best food I've ever had in Toronto. We got the duck pasta, fish, beef, sausage mozzarella pizza, and Brussels sprouts. Everything was sooo good. I would order everything again. Every dish was cooked to perfection. Flavors were great in every dish and well balanced (not too much of any spice, e.g. too salty, etc.). I'm sure their desserts are great given that their dinner is fantastic. However, we were too full to get dessert. Service was faster than I thought it would be given the types of meals we ordered. I would say the food came out in about 15-20 minutes max. Our server was excellent and personable. Very beautiful interior. Clean atmosphere and very relaxing. All things considered, Nodo was pretty good...for a midtown spot. But look, I'm comparing Nodo to downtown restaurants and by those standards, it hits at a solid 3 stars, especially the service. On a Thursday night at 8pm the place was bumping. The waitress came to take our drink order. When I pointed at the cocktail list and said "Which...." she interrupted me and said "It's my second day! I'm not familiar with the cocktails." So I selected a cocktail. She accidentally entered the wrong one into the system, brought me the wrong one, took it back...and then I waited like 10 minutes and was told the one I ordered wasn't available. I selected another one. Ten more minutes later, I was told there was a mishap at the bar, and was asked "did you still want your cocktail??" It made me feel weird, like, do you want me to say no? By this time both of my dining companions had finished their cocktails. Anyway, the pizza, seafood pasta and cheese/charcuterie boards were all good, if middle of the road, when compared to the likes of Giulietta, Piano Piano or other downtown spots. Pre-Covid review - My partner and I have been wanting to come here since we moved into the neighbourhood a year ago. We have heard great things from several people and finally decided to come for our anniversary dinner. The decor is quaint, yet modern. We were seated at our table, and our waitress came over to tell us the specials. We wanted to try everything on the menu but settled on splitting the Arancini, the Caesar salad, one of the pastas (I can't recall now) and the tiramisu. We devoured every bite. We were the perfect amount of stuffed at the end of it. The service was fabulous, and we did not feel rushed at all. I really like their menu. They have a lot of traditional Italian dishes, but add their unique flavour. I also liked the variety of pastas that they have. read more

NODO YOU'VE DONE IT AGAIN! This is my second time at Nodo but at the newer location in Hillcrest. I definitely prefer this restaurant in comparaison to the one in the Junction because THEY HAVE A PATIO! It is also a lot more spacious and isn't as cramped as the original location. 1) Service: (4/5) in terms of staff, everyone was very friendly and made sure we were being serviced and welcomed. However, BE PATIENT with your food because it was about a 1hr wait for our meals. I believe this was because they really do take their time to perfect their dishes and I guarantee you that you'll taste it! 2) Setting: (4.5/5) As I mentioned earlier, this is the second and newest Nodo location. That being said, it is definitely a lot more spacious and the backyard patio is very trendy and cute. 3) Food: (5/5) Never disappointed with the food at Nodo. You can't go wrong with Homemade pasta?!? - Gnocchi Old School: I love gnocchi, but I love Nodo's Gnocchi more. I've also tried the New School on their menu and I can honestly say they are completely different but just as good. The Old School has slow cooked lamb which came out perfectly and was nice tender! It's complimented with a red sauce, whereas the New School has white sauce and mushrooms. - Bruschetta Pizza: I was not expecting it to be as large as it was! Definitely worth your buck. It was light and fresh, not soggy, so you know they did it right! Would recommend it for a group of 3+ to share. - Parpadelle: I think that's how you spell it... my boyfriend ordered this the first time and couldn't resist not getting it again. I had the chance to explore the St Clair area and tried an Italian restaurant. Nodo Hillcrest is a smartly designed space with lots of mirrors, funky lights, and extensive use of pastels. Okay let's get to the food. I had the Regina Pizza as a sharing. Fior di Latte, tomato sauce, fresh basil on thin crust. Delicious and delightful thin crust it was an excellent appetizer. As a main I had the Orecchiette Rapini E Salsiccia. Homemade Italian sausage crumbled, garlic, rapini and mascarpone made for a very delicious subtle dish. The pasta was al dente perfect. The restaurant was like it came out of a magazine. Except one thing. PLEASE replace the centre mirror panel. It's cracked and I couldn't stop looking at it. read more

I booked Nodo for a big birthday dinner of 20 guest and from the very initial interactions with the team here, it was a fantastic experience. I was initally dealing with their Junction location but my group grew too big for that spot so we booked the back patio section of their Hillcrest venue and I was dealing with Tony via phone and email and he was incredibly accommodating and quick with the communications. Note: they do no take reservations unless it's for a large private space booking. We went with their $65/person set menu option of which I was able to choose the apps (Olive knots, bruschetta pizza and Frito Misto) of which the olive knots were my favs having some of the warmest and delicious olives I've had. I also ordered in addition to that their meat and cheese platters, which were great and quickly devoured! For the mains we ordered their Garganelli which was a huge hit even with the strongest of meat fans in our group. At this point we were all well and stuffed and had no idea that the meat/fish/chicken options would be as large as it was, and then we also had to make room for their dessert platter with bread pudding, chocolate molten cake, canoli and gelato, all so heavenly! I must make special mention of their custom cocktails too, everyone loved their drinks and it was also my first go at having "artichoke liqueur", great wine list too! It's ok. It's definitely not 4.5 lol. We got the prosciutto and ricotta fritters to start and those were great. Took a little too long to come out but they were redeeming. We got the oreciette (sp?) and duck tagliatelle and both fell short in different areas. The duck tagliatelle was definitely missing some flavour notes - probably lacking in aromatics- maybe garlic? Something was missing. The pasta was also way overdone for a restaurant and not al dente at all. It needed a lot more salt- and even though I got piles of parmesan on it, it was still under salted. The oreciette to me was the better of the two- the pasta was perfectly al dente and the chilli component made the taste better, but it was still missing something- hard to say what. The tables adjacent to us seemed to really like their food so maybe it was just us. We didn't get dessert so I can't speak for that. I would maybe come back and try to gnocchi but other than that, nothing really sparked my interest. read more

Tried Nodo tonight based on a recommendation from a work colleague. Tomorrow I will be giving this colleague a big high five. What a find! Nodo has the perfect fusion of rustic and culture...Italiano, of course. The staff seem to really care and provide just enough attention to the table so you don't have to wonder. Special shout out to Emmanuel, a stand up guy and provides great recommendations. The food, no question, won't disappoint. We tried a variety of dishes, apps and deserts. I'd order it all again. I prefer this location over the one on Dundas. The service was way better and even though it was hectic (Mother's Day) everything was delicious. My go-to would be the Caesar Salad & the Cacio Pepe con Pera e Noci, it's made with Pecorino Romano, cracked black pepper, pears and toasted walnuts. The " U Chiurito" pizza will be the reason I return to Nodo. After visiting Sicily last summer, pistachio on pizza was something I constantly came across, so to find this in Toronto was more than I could have ever hoped for! The texture of the Brussels sprouts along with the cheese, pistachio and arugula pesto make this pizza fresh, meaty (without meat!) and eating every last bite. The warm olives, the burrata, the coccoli - this place does not disappoint. Service, ambiance, food are all on point at both locations. I would highly recommend it! read more

This is my favourite Italian restaurant. All their pasta dishes are flavourful and it's surprising because you wouldn't think so just by looking at the dish. Unlike other Italian restaurant that drenched their pasta in sauce (don't get me wrong, I love that), most of their pastas don't have much sauce on it. Every dish tastes like a home cooked meal. I've never experienced anything quite like this. Some of my favourites are Rigatoni/Trinacria, Gnocchi (New School)/Crema Tartufata Funghi E Mais, and Risotto/Girotondo. I've had a couple of their desserts and I can't say there are any standouts. I also love their complimentary bread - because it tastes good and not because it's free! I really miss the days when restaurant give out free bread before the mains. read more

As an individual who doesn't eat cheese, I was overjoyed to see a pizza menu item that intentionally neglected that particular ingredient. The Sul Sarno pizza was nothing less of incredible. There was a burst of flavor bursting with every bite. The crust itself was cooked to perfection with a slight, purposeful char. Each menu item was authentic in nature. A personal pizza was the perfect amount of food to comfortably fill a single adult! The atmosphere created a fine dining experience and the waitstaff were attentive/ personable. The food, shrimp and calamari app and the bruschetta pizza were ok, short rib main ok but turned out to be much too heavy for a spring/summer menu, fish and Cornish hen mains were had by the gents with a outcry of "Where is the meat".
