    Pipers Drain Repair

    Pipers Drain Repair

tl;dr: Fair pricing, quick, reliable and professional work, kind personalities…read more After being forced to snake my drains every couple of months, the galvanized pipes in my 60 year old home finally decided to call it quits and I decided it was time to replace them. I started getting estimates from different companies, and Wyatt from Piper's came out to see the scope of the work. Whenever hiring contractors I try to understand beforehand the work involved with the hypothetical if I had to do the work myself, that way when walking through the project with the person giving an estimate it helps me figure out the rough bound of what I think the project should cost in labor and materials and to help me catch if there's additional "work" or costs that get put into the bid. With this in mind, when Wyatt walked through the issues he saw and roughly the work involved to fix the issues, it was nothing but an accurate assessment. I felt comfortable bouncing ideas of what made sense to try and tackle in the scope of the repair and what might be unnecessary as there was no real sense of an upsell, just what seemed like honest, professional opinions. Time is money for lots of these companies, and sometimes estimates get rushed which happened in some of the estimates I received; but not with Piper's. They took the time to understand what my priorities were, what constraints there were, and give fair realistic suggestions. After accepting what I believed to be a very fair bid, they were able to schedule the work and came exactly when they said they would. My plumber was Wyatt with a secondary helper - both did a fantastic job and were great at what they needed to do, so only praise there. They were respectful, used shoe covers and moving pads so as to not track dirt on my carpet, cleaned up all the debris from the work, and showed great care in their work. They also were considerate of my requests to minimize the cuts into the drywall and whereas many other bids told me it was necessary to cut drywall in three different rooms for the work they took on the extra inconvenience and were able to keep all the cuts contained to just the bathroom. Time will tell how well the work holds up, but as of now I have the utmost confidence the work will last.

I truly appreciate your professionalism and providing a FREE assessment. The guys who came out to…read moreassess the leaking bath tub issue recommended we get it all glued up with a new gasket. Then I had another Plumber come out to look at it and told us this is NOT NECESSARY. He tightened the drain plug /overflow screws and that fixed the leaking problem. The water was just leaking in between that gap from overfilling the tub. But I'm giving you 4 stars because he DID advise me that I didn't need a water heater flush yet since it's only a year old. And he advised us we could easily do it ourselves, when I told him my husband and son work for SPU in Seattle. So your Plumber's honesty, professionalism and quick response to our call has earned out trust for future calls. Thank you.

We called Mr. Rooter Plumbing because our water heater pilot wouldn't stay lit. After doing some…read moreresearch, I figured it was probably the igniter or thermocouple, but I didn't want to mess with it myself. My wife scheduled a free service call, knowing of course there would be a catch. The next day, a tech named Tom (goes by "Tommy") showed up. Within 5 minutes of looking at the unit, he told us the entire water heater had to be replaced--for $2,500. On top of that, he claimed the pan and placement didn't meet code and insisted it needed to be reinstalled 18 inches off the ground, which would cost another $2,000. That's a total of $4,300 plus tax. When my wife called me to discuss, I tried speaking with him directly, but he constantly talked over me and wouldn't listen. That was enough for me; I told him thanks but we'll be taking our business elsewhere. We ended up ordering a brand-new water heater through Home Depot. With installation by Fast Water Heater, it cost us $1,800 plus tax. It was done the next day, and everything passed city code exactly where the old one sat. I don't think everyone at Mr. Rooter operates like Mr Tommy, but my experience felt like a sales pitch disguised as a service call. Instead of actually diagnosing the issue, it was straight to an overpriced replacement and scare tactics about code compliance. The customer service was rude, and the upselling was not ethical. Do yourself a favor and get quotes from other vendors before signing with Mr. Rooter.

I initially posted 3 stars because of several things including leaving some black stuff on my…read morebathroom floor, the high price for the water heater replacement considering the hours needed to replace, and lastly, using a channel lock wrench leaving large tool marks on the chrome on all the fittings including the cold water hose to the toliet. With that said, I raised my review up to 5 stars after I reached out to the manager, Danny, Danny said he would talk to the plumbers about that in thier next meeting and also made the price better. I like that they did something about all the issues. Btw, Danny offered to replace the toliet hose but I was satisfied that he'll bring it up in their meeting. Kudos to Mr Rooter. I'll use them going forward.

I needed a new dual shut-off valve in my kitchen for the sink and dishwasher lines, a relatively minor job, but the old single shut-off valve had failed and I couldn't get my dishwasher repaired until it was replaced. I wasn't sure of the exact part I needed and didn't want to DIY it under the sink at my age lol. Jonathan of Platinum Plumbing was completely helpful over the phone, and I texted him a couple photos of the existing hookup. He was able to get the part(s) and his terrific plumber, Baruch, out to my house within two days for the repair and replacement. Baruch was easily one of the most professional, courteous and expert service technicians who has ever come out to my house in 25 years of ownership. Perfect install. A pro's pro. I was completely impressed. I received my invoice with a couple days of the repair, a fair and reasonable price. Even their billing person, Pamela, was thoughtful and pleasant when I made my payment. I have had countless repair people in my house for various projects over many years. Some were not very proficient, friendly or professional. I'm happy to say that Jonathan, Baruch and Pamela of Platinum Plumbing are my new Gold Standard and I definitely will call them for any plumbing needs in the future.
