Our experience with Better Air NW has been exceptional. We purchased a heat pump system and have had nothing but the BEST service from the start. This includes the sales representative, installation team, follow-up service and checks, to the front office contact. We would especially like to express our thanks to Patrick, who completed the follow-up checks. Patrick is incredible. He clearly loves his work and its challenges. He is knowledgeable and pretty much a walking encyclopedia regarding all things "heat pump" related. Patrick stopped by a few times to help us sort out how to set the thermostat so that the system would keep the temperature fairly steady throughout the day. It being a variable heat pump system, a little extra finesse was required. Patrick arrives ready to help and analyze. He checks and double checks the system and contacts his tech team back at the office to check on codes to ensure all is set appropriately. He takes a look at everything - the settings, furnace connections, air vents, filter, and more - to ensure all is working well to provide the desired outcome. Patrick is skilled in all aspects of different heat pump systems and understands how they work. He shares his thoughts and explains what is important for the customer to know, plus answers any and all questions that are presented. When sorting out the cause of a question/concern, he pulls everything together to arrive at the answer and does not leave any stone unturned. Patrick gives his work his all. He arrives ready to work, listens, explains the steps he plans to take, and then goes to work. He does not rush through his work. He remains focused and committed to analyzing the job at hand until he arrives at a solution. Patrick is key to the functioning of the company, because he is the person who ensures that the customer understands and is happy with the results of their investment. Patrick deserves HUGE kudos for being so committed and educating himself beyond what most might attempt, to become a true expert at his work. What a Joke! this people cleaned my Mother's Ducts or so they say they did! We live across the street and were watching this guys the whole time with some cameras that were installed in her home after the last time her home got broken into. When we got our Ducts cleaned the company showed up with a truck that created the suction in the system and ran a long hose from the truck to the furnace. they showed up with a little portable machine like a Shop Vac that based on our research before we hire our last, this thing is more of a way to make you thing they are doing something to it, barely any suction at all, so all they did was to knock some of the dust that were stuck in the ducts and now that is loose her house is much worst that before this people showed up and did this bogus job! The cameras also showed this guys stepping on her furniture without any shoe covers, leaving grease spots on her couches, beds and carpet, she had to hire someone to come clean all of their damage costing her twice the amount this people charge her! And now we have to pay the guys that did our home to come get the Ducts cleaned up so the furnace stops pumping all the dust left behind by this people that is making my 82 yr old Mother very ill.We are in the process of taking them to Small Claims for this. Do not Use this Company and don't believe the reviews from their friends and family members as we have found out! They are using products and machines sold by AirCare a company from Las Vegas! There is a reason these folks have a five star rating with nearly 400 reviews. They are so incredibly kind and honest. Kayla is professional and friendly without fail, and was so understanding of my circumstances having to reschedule multiple times over the past year, which was financially one of the hardest of my life since I rescued a puppy who had a tremendous amount of unforeseen medical needs. And who is the love of my life so very worth it! And Matthew, the manager/owner(?) is a throwback to a purer time in terms of his honesty. I had received an estimate to move an outdoor unit for under 1000$, and told Matthew of this when he came to give their estimate. He took the time to educate me on exactly what would be required, and informed me that the cost to do it properly would be relatively unfeasible (likely would need to include drywall work and cost multiple thousands of dollar). He could have just lied and done it wrong, and made money. I would not have known the difference until too late. He also made me feel comfortable about my place being a mess and was so kind about my general discombobulation in every respect, even saying "don't worry I have four kids so I totally get it." He and Matt, the technician who cleaned my units both were great about wearing shoe covering in my house. Just every single interaction was highly respectful, kind and professional toward me. I've had need for two different repairs this year on a 30 year old furnace. The person on the phone was very pleasant and helpful, and got me scheduled much more quickly than I expected, given that the Temps outside are dropping fast. They also made sure I had the same tech for both visits so he would already familiar with my system and not have to start from scratch! Nick S. Was great. I got a notice via text when he was on the way which included a link so I could see, in real time, where he was at. When he arrived, he was friendly and professional, and masked up before knocking. I know bits and pieces of electrical wiring as well as mechanical equipment and I could tell he knew his stuff. He was able to trace the problem in the wiring and components, and was able to repair what could be repaired and replace what burned out for LESS THAN TEN PERCENT of what the sketchy, nightmare company my home warranty had chosen to send out. They had said it was unrepairable and would need to replace the furnace as well as make a thousand dollars worth of modifications to my home. They were either incompetent, or trying to take advantage of me. Either one is bad news. When it turned out that my furnace didn't have a feature so really wanted, NICK FIGURED OUT HOW TO ADD IT! That was my second visit. Same experience: speedy scheduling, professional behavior, and friendly people. With two out of two knocked out of the park, there's no way I'd go to anyone else. read more

Let me start by saying this is the first review I've ever felt compelled to write on yelp, but found my experience with Better Air NW so exceptional that I wanted others to know my opinion of the company. A little background: my condensing unit on my central air conditioning stopped working about a week ago. The first Seattle company I called sent a technician who told me a capacitor and compressor were no longer working and in need of replacement. He showed me a photo of corrosion on the capacitor and said he heard the "gears grinding" on the compressor. The technician provided an estimate of over $3600 to fix the problem. I was very surprised by the overall cost and thus, called Better Air NW to get a second opinion. Their technician came this morning and in about 15 minutes had diagnosed the issue as ONLY being a faulty capacitor. They had a replacement on the truck and had it replaced and working shortly thereafter. The total cost including the cost of diagnosis was a fraction of the first company's estimate (under $300). While I don't know if the first company had the intent to deceive, it was a sharp contrast with Better Air NW, which was clearly there to fix the actual problem and treat the customer right. I very much appreciate the professional and honest approach of Justin from Better Air NW and would recommend this company to friends and family. read more

We bought a house this year that was built in 1983. As Jason explained, many duct cleaning companies simply hook up a giant vac through your heater and then scrub around a little bit at the register openings (this was my previous experience in a Seattle house). These guys have a different system, still with a vacuum set up at the heater, but then they put a long fiberglass rod down each vent equipped with different high-pressure air heads that whack the dust off the walls of the conduit, and then blow the dust and debris down to the heater. It took them four hours to clean our 2300 sqft house. Jason even crawled under the house to inspect the conduits. The stuff that came out (pieces of electrical wire insulation, nails, etc.) indicated that the ducts hadn't properly been cleaned since the house had been built! Once the furnace was fired up again we could easily note how clean the air smelled (not having our sinuses clog up for one thing). They were chockablock full of helpful observations and advice on the house, which I was keen to note, given that we just bought the place. The price was reasonable and no jacked-up add-on costs after the fact (which you really have to watch out for with the other guys). These guys rock! read more

Outstanding service, highly recommended! Our furnace stopped working during a recent cold spell. A Better Air NW technician visited, quickly diagnosed the problem, and ordered replacement parts. We shivered for a few days awaiting their return visit to install the new parts. Unfortunately, the technician who was scheduled to visit us to install the replacement parts had a family member test positive for Covid and wasn't able to come to work. After a week without a working furnace, we were disappointed to hear this but understood the situation. We were expecting to hear the follow-up visit would need to be postponed. Instead, the owner of the company (Justin) personally came out to install the new parts, arriving exactly with the time window that had been set when the appointment was scheduled days before. I would call this commitment to customer service is amazing, but you can see from their stellar Yelp ratings that Better Air NW routinely provides amazing service. We're looking to have a heat pump or AC installed within the next year or so and will likely want to replace our furnace as well. You can guess which company we hope to work with. We had Jason and Shawn come out to our house to clean our dryer vent. They were thorough and detail oriented. Jason noticed an issue with our range vent while in our crawlspace and pointed that issue out to me so my husband could get that taken care of. Once I found out Jason had HVAC experience, I asked him about some staining on our ceiling in the garage around our furnace exhaust pipe. He told me there was probably a loose joint in the crawlspace, and I should have someone look at it right away from the HVAC company that did the install because we could be getting carbon monoxide as well as condensation into our home. Thanks to his encouragement, I called the HVAC company right after Jason left. The HVAC company came out the next day and, sure enough, Jason was right about what was going on! Thank you, Jason, for going way beyond what you needed to do! Had I not spoken with you, I would still have been wondering what to do about the ceiling staining while carbon monoxide was leaking into our home. I can't say "Thank you" enough! Better Air NW cleaned the ducts in my elderly uncle's home a couple months ago and did a super fine job at a very reasonable price. What is above and beyond is that last week, they helped me retrieve a newly adopted cat that had dropped himself into the air duct system. I couldn't believe it! Tweny minutes at his new house and this cat pulled a grate from the wall -- and it was like mailing a letter. The kitty went in and couldn't get back out from the slot in the wall. I called Better Air, a little frantic, and Darla was so helpful. She had one of the guys who was wrapping up his job, come over. He helped us figure out which duct the kitty was in and cut a hole in the big "downspout" duct in the basement to gain access. He also gave us the materials to seal up the hole. After he left, we rigged up a walkway and stepladder. Voila, eight hours later, my uncle's caregiver was able to extricate that naughty little boy from his air duct adventure. After a lot of Internet searching for a reliable business to clean out our air ducts, we picked Better Air NW. The research paid off - they did a really good job! Jason came by @ 1:30 PM sharp on Oct 5th as promised. A few minutes later, Justin stopped by to ensure all was well. Jason said it would take 3.5 hours - 4 hours, and he took 4 hours to do a really thorough job - cleaned out the furnace, all the vents in the house, and the dryer vent. He showed us all the grime, lint and dirt in the vents and the result of cleaning them. He pointed out that the flapper had falled off the dryer vent and that our exhaust piping was crimped, and suggested how we could fix. It had been a long time since I had the air ducts cleaned the last time, and I was happy not to run up into any of the problems online reviewers of other companies have talked about - missed appointments, unprofessional workmen, sloppy jobs, hard-sells for something else, etc. I would highly recommend Better Air NW. I wish they cleaned carpets as well, so I don't have to go hunting for a reliable carpet cleaning company now. :) read more

I was beyond impressed with the owner Justin and his crew. Prior to cleaning the vents they inspected the location of the furnace and the duct work. Upon inspection they told us that there is no duct work for the two cold air return registerers in both the master and the kids room. The registers are open to the crawl space which is a huge health problem. We are renters and have had problems with the smell in both bedrooms ever since we moved in. Within minutes they were able to uncover a huge problem that is a health issue to our family. They also informed us that the furnace draws air in from the crawl space not from a clean air source. The team told us that it would be a waste of money to get the vents cleaned prior to adding in the proper duct work. They would not take payment for the time they spent inspecting the duct work, cleaning out some of the heat registers and taking photos of the areas that need to be fixed. I recently contracted Better Air NW to come out and add AC to an old boiler system i had installed in my house. Justin arrived promptly and provided me with great information about the system i had there. I had 3 other companies also provide estimates, and Better Air NW came in at about half the price of their competitors!! I had a new furnace, AC, and water heater installed, including all the electrical and gas hookups, in 1 day! They were efficient, had a great team that came out and did the work quickly and professionally, and had everything installed within 1 week of me contacting them! I would HIGHLY recommend this company - not only were they extremely professional in their work, got the permits and everything handled for me, but they were half the price! Also, Justin answered my calls late at night on the weekend, when i was having an issue trying to figure out how the new hot water worked, and was very nice about it! Jason and Scott were here right on time. They not only explained to me what they were about to do, but also taught me the right procedure to maintain the duct system in future. Jason went down to the crawl space to try to fix one of the loose vent pipe, even it was beyond the job. Our vent was really dirty. They collected a lot of stuff that were way before we bought the house, and even some stuff dated back to when the house was built 27 years ago. This probably means if there were some duct cleaning from the previous owners, the people they hired did not do a good job. They ended up spending 4 full-hours to clean everything. They reinstalled all the vent covers and furniture to the original place. They kept the floor clean through the full procedure. Although our duct was really dirty, they kept their website charging rate, without increasing a single dime. Very professional and I will definitely use their service again in future! read more

I cannot sing the praises of this company enough. They did an amazing job throughout my duct cleaning. They kept me informed and were great educators, taking pictures of air vent concerns, crawl space issues etc. They were never pressuring, always professional and their service was absolutely steller. Better Air NW came out to clean my air duct system. Unlike the companies that charge $59 and then add hundreds when they arrive, Better Air is completely transparent about the cost of their service and what they will do. Chris was excellent. All the ducts were cleaner that they had been after cleaning by other services and he pulled out original construction debris missed in prior air duct cleaning. He answered all my questions, showed and explained everything he was going to do, and then showed me the completed work. He didn't rush but clearly cared about doing to complete and thorough job. He listened and answered all my auxiliary furnace and filter questions and wrote down specs for my filters and explained the different options available currently. His work was perfect.
