*Edit
It took more phone calls and confusion, but we did eventually receive a credit for our trouble. Increased rating by 1 star. *
I was really hoping I wouldn't have to write this review, but after weeks of waiting, we still have heard nothing from Todd, the general manager.
The TL;DR version is this- These folks have some decent mechanics that are pretty nice guys, but their scheduling is awful, some of the people at their call center are disrespectful, and their management is super shady. I absolutely would not recommend working with them and I think their techs should find another company that doesn't put them is such awful positions.
Here's the saga:
These folks were really hard to get a hold of (red flag #1) but once I spoke with Jason and got the info I was convinced they were the most professional and trustworthy choice. I wasn't happy the gas line install would take 3 trips (initial install, inspection, final install) if that's how to works, what choice did I have?
1st visit- Husband works from home (which isn't exactly convenient) everything seemingly fine.
2nd visit- I work from home (which is even moredifficult to arrange for me.) I check the meter while I'm waiting on the inspector and the gauge has zeroed out. There's a leak somewhere. I call and am assured someone will cancel the inspection for me and get someone out that afternoon. No one came.
3rd Visit- After 3+ more calls and a bunch of time on hold and getting passed around, we make another appointment. My husband works from home this time. Guy checks the installation- He says everything is fine, it's just that the gauge wasn't screwed on tight enough.
3.5th visit- They scheduled the inspector w/out telling us when. OF COURSE we miss the inspection because we're AT WORK. I'm pretty frustrated at this point but the lady on the phone (cathy?) was really nice and accommodating and I'm sure it wasn't her fault. We get the inspection rescheduled.
4th Visit- I'm at home again. Inspector arrives. Checks the install. Apparently they *didn't even finish* tying into the main line. How can he inspect something that isn't done? (Keep in mind their guys already double-checked everything when they came back for the leak and said it was fine.) The inspector also says that this company likes to cut corners and that they have to keep an extra close eye on them. (which is pretty much BS because they were specifically suggested by PSE)
5th Visit- After calling and calling, I finally get the manager. When I speak with Todd he says that he doesn't want to make any arrangements for the inconvenience because he 'usually waits til everything is all wrapped up." ... Wait, this is normal? Maybe there's something wrong if this is a normal thing for you and you've got a specific system for deal with unsatisfied customers. I let them know we can't keep staying home from work like this! This was the 5th visit and we still need the repair, another inspection and the final install! They assure me they'll get someone out there asap. They do eventually send someone out to do the work. The techs are crazy nice and seem really competent, even fussing with my broken fireplace. They get the repair work done.
6th Visit- Inspection again, this time My husband is home. It passes, thank goodness. I'm not at home, so I don't think to call and verify that someone really, really will be coming out in the afternoon to do the final install like they said someone would. I get home after 7, only to be informed by my husband that no on came. I call and call, getting the very nice but ultimately unhelpful on-call technician. I let him know that I understand there's nothing he can do, which is why he needs to escalate the matter and get me his manager. Yes I know it's 7pm on a Friday night. Finally speaking with Todd, he says someone will be out the next day and he'll check back in with me to make sure everything went alright.
7th, and final, visit. Saturday, so we're home. Two different techs come out. The berate the work that has been previously done, tell us that the inspector must have be new because they 'never go under the house and actually check", and blame absolutely everybody but themselves despite the fact that one of the two is the one that made the original mistake with the loose gauge. Install finally complete, Stove turns on. They did give us some great advice to make sure we run the ovens a while before actually cooking with them. We did. It got stinky so I'm really grateful for that bit.
It has now been about 3 weeks and I have heard nothing. Not a peep. Not a text, not a followup call, not an email. Absolutely nothing from management. The install was $500 more than we thought it was going to be and we stayed home from work an additional 4 times and not one apology, call, or offer of recompense. I cannot recommend this company. I'll be happy to update this if/when I hear from them. read more
