After getting a few different quotes, we ended up going with Sundance. I have some experience with them over the years and have always felt well treated. I don't know if their pricing is always the best, but it seemed fair for our project. Because we were having two water heaters installed, they sent two techs out to install at the same time. Both techs were polite, tidy, and did a great job. I felt like they did everything I wanted, and they were great about explaining what they did and answering any questions. While the company initially appeared professional and conveniently local, and their staff were friendly and polite in communication, our experience with the technical service was disappointing. The main fireplace work was completed in the summer, but by fall, the gas fireplace stopped functioning properly. A technician was dispatched under warranty -- which I appreciate, as they provide a one-year warranty -- yet after two visits, the issue only worsened. Communication, punctuality, and the speed of responses are also good sides of this company. Although the technician was courteous and professional, his diagnosis proved incorrect. Independent testing and measurements (without any interference with the equipment) showed the problem was unrelated to the "turbulence" he claimed. I provided all my findings and data to him directly, after which the company decided to refund all charges except for the diagnostic fee -- despite that diagnosis being wrong. Each service visit was delayed 1-2 weeks due to their workload both in summer and fall. The day after the company confirmed the refund and the end of service, another vendor visited on the same day. Without telling him, he verified my conclusions and fixed the issue within an hour by replacing a small pilot orifice -- a part included in the original repair order but incorrectly installed for a different gas configuration. The repair was completed twice as fast and at half the cost. Prolongated tests afterwards proved the correctness of the second vendor's work. the In summary, while the company's staff are pleasant and responsive, the technician's unwillingness to acknowledge diagnostic errors led to unnecessary delays, unwillingness to listen and work with clients, and costs. Persistence in the wrong direction is the enemy of accurate diagnostics and a successful business. read more

I had used Sundance before to install 2 heat pump/mini splits. I decided to put one downstairs in my living area. When the technician came to install it, he said you don't need this thermostat and it's $500. I had a thermostat upstairs in my hallway that was never used because when I had the AC on in my bedroom, the door would be closed. I had no idea that they were so expensive and that the sales peeson just added it on without mentioning the additional high cost. He later told me he'd given me a $100 discount. But it was still $500 for the thermostat! read more

Update: The gas insert is now leaking. I scheduled an appointment that would work with my teacher schedule so I could find appropriate sub coverage. I was called the day before the appointment to say that the time slot was "not actually available after all". The next time that worked was another week away. I had my gas fireplace "serviced" by this company. A technician by the name of Jordan with a cocky attitude came out. I watched Jordan, an employee of Sundance as he serviced my fireplace. He changed the batteries, told me I needed a new box and did not perform the service I paid for but turned the fireplace on to show me it was working. A few days later I attempted to turn it on. I got a flashing red light that indicates service is needed and the fireplace would not go on. I contacted Sundance and asked for another technician to look at my fireplace and review the settings Jordan made. They scheduled me out one month, the date came around and they didn't show up. I called and explained the technician didn't show up, I was told they could schedule me in a month. I asked for my money back for the terrible service. I was told the supervisor would call me back. I never heard from this company again. read more

Absolutely despicable organization. When I was out of town, one of their people came to help my wife figure out our furnace had shut off. Spent less than an hour here, installed a new chintzy thermostat (which I also could have easily done in 30 min), and charged her $715. Just disgusting. Jordan was amazing, came to my home and serviced my fireplace that I had never had serviced since 2006 when I bought my home. It is clean and lovely now, and functions like a dream! He set it up so all I have to do is flip a switch and my fireplace lights up beautifully! Had furnace serviced two days ago (Wednesday). No heat on Saturday. Despite website saying they are open on Saturdays none of the phone numbers work - all say "not accepting calls at this time". Including emergency number which is also not accepting calls. None of the numbers accept messages. Have to get emergency service at more than cost of the initial service. Never mind! Had a wind storm last night and all their phones were still out. Email message got through to someone and they came out right away and didn't charge any fee. All the people have been great and I couldn't recommend them more highly. ******* read more

I had a terrible experience with them, in pretty much every step of the process. (They were referred by Puget Sound Energy, so I didn't do my own research, that was a mistake). The work was to install a ductless heat pump. 1. They told me that I didn't need to stay home the whole day and will call me when they are done. I came home, they LEFT MY GARAGE DOOR WIDE OPEN. I actually couldn't even close my garage door, because they blew the electric panel. 2. What's most upsetting is that they called me when they were done and told me everything was finished. How can you leave someone's house like that? That is just utterly unprofessional. 3. I called the person (Brian) who I worked with to report this issue. Instead of apologizing or acknowledging the issue. He said it's probably that my tenants got into my house and opened the garage (WTF???? and the electric was broken!) When I said that wasn't possible, he said, "well, there are three universal garage openers out there....) (again, WTF???) They couldn't send someone soon enough and I had to go out of town next door, and that was very stressful. 4. Today we have City of Seattle inspectors to come and inspect if the installation was up to code. It failed 2 out of 3 permits, with some basic things they should know already: - they need a refrigeration drain pipe - isn't this a basic thing they should know? - electric panel needs 50Amp - isn't this the most basic thing?? Quality of work, customer support, speed of services were all terrible. DO NOT USE THEM. read more

We have had a terrible experience. DO NOT USE THEM. They ruined 2 of our fireplaces when they cleaned them. And while they smell the odor that was caused by them (we identified the smell before they left), they will not fix them. Dwight admits they caused it, but dont know what it is and wont fix it. We also dont trust that they didnt cause issues with our water tank that we then had to pay thousands for them to fix (took two trips). Buyer beware. They are terrible with customer service. Again, i repeat do not use them. They didnt tell us about offgassing or outgassing, but that doesnt answer the problem, online research says whatever they used to clean could have caused it. read more

Back in May, I was looking to get a heat pump and minisplit system installed in my condominium. Other's in my building had used Sundance (though, in retrospect, no one explicitly ever told me anything good about them), so I had Curtis over to give me a consultation. He never seemed very interested in my business, and spent most of our consultation trying to veer me away from what I wanted, which was very confusing to me, because what I wanted would have meant more money for him. And what I was looking for was exactly what he had done in identical units in our building. Anyways, after saying he'd get an estimate to me by the end of the week, I still - to this day - have never heard back from him. And this wasn't just a case of 'maybe they forgot about me.' No way. More than once, I called in to let them know I was still waiting for an estimate. I left voicemails. I talked to their receptionist. I sent emails in via their website. And still, no replies or estimate from them. So I definitely won't be using and/or recommending Sundance to anyone. read more

Quick to come check out problems with my A/C, that was great. Brought in the 'closer' to confirm the techs diagnosis, wrote me a quote: $886.82 for a bad TX Valve. Something felt like that point where you're at a car dealership and they pitch you the undercoat treatment... So after they left, I google'd about for the part. I didn't see a single one online over $100. Pinged a buddy of mine in HVAC who got a good laugh. Called another company to come out, they replaced it for $400 including diagnosis and topping off my refrigerant. My very last call to Sundance, I'd highly suggest getting more than one quote if these guys come over. Shady. read more

I was told that the diagnostic was $199.00 and would be waived if I go ahead with the repair, but I was not informed that they have a $300 minimum repair on a $199.00 diagnostic.  So, they waived the diagnostic for $199 but the labor is $300. read more

Contacted Sundance as they are an American standard dealer. Tech came out and he noted issues with a tankless water heater install done by another company. Scale of job was too big for tech so Dwight, service manager, came out to assess. This was 30 June 2020. Dwight communicated that it would take time for him to assemble quote. Gave him time and contacted him on 20 July, responded that quote would be forthcoming. Contacted again on 27 July. No quote. Contacted again on 16 September. Response was that he does not have time or manpower to do job. It took him 10 weeks to come to this conclusion?!!! Sundance has literally left us in the cold. One week before the autumnal equinox, after leading us on for two moths, Sundance drops us without a second thought. My wife and my 3 boys thank them for leaving us with a non operational furnace just as Fall is beginning. read more

Had 2 gas stoves installed for 15K about 2 years ago. Install was okay. When I needed servicing this is where I would be cautious in the future. They seemed to be under staffed for a few years now. One year ago, I made an appointment and had to cancel after they called to let me know they would be later than the 3 hour arrival time period. The next appt. I could get was a month out from that date and I already waited 3 weeks to get the original one I had. Basically, I shut off my stoves last winter and did not use them. Fast forward another year...I wanted to make an appt for December of this year, and no such luck. Middle of January is all they had. I am calling other vendors to see if they can help service my stoves sooner. read more

When our inspector couldn't get our gas fireplace to work, we called Sundance out since they were local. Whichever employee came out said our old fireplace was beyond repair. He said parts couldn't be found anymore and what we needed was a new model, which was quite pricey. We had a second company out and the service man had our fireplace working in under 10 minutes. The spark mechanism was dirty. After a thorough cleaning, our fireplace is working great. No parts or replacement required. Instead of the several thousand $$ I was quoted by Sundance, the repair cost us under $200. Sundance might be great for building costly replacements, but not so much for repair work. EDIT: Since Sundance replied to this, I'll address the "year and a half later" bit. We waited that long to bring out a 2nd company because we were broke and couldn't afford the replacement quoted to us. The 2nd company came out for our heater and offered to look at the fireplace for free. We didn't know until 1.5 years later that your repairman was either incompetent or lying to us. Hence why this review happened so late. read more

Not too pleased with this company. They won't believe you when you're telling them what your issue is (in our case a gas fireplace) but insist you pay them $100 to tell you what you already know. Called on a Saturday morning when our furnace went out. I was told that the technician is extremely busy, but if I'm ok with a longer window from 11a-3p, they'd be able to come out to diagnose the furnace for a $199. That's 2-3 times the price of anyone else I talked to, but they were available on a Saturday, so I agreed. It's 4pm and nobody showed up or called. That's very unprofessional and a waste of my Saturday afternoon. What's worse, I could have called another repair company to come out, but didn't because Sundance agreed to be here. We have two small children and now we won't have a heated home when it's supposed to be 43 degrees tonight. Save your money, time, and frustration...call someone with better reviews. read more

Every year, we have our Sundance Energy-installed gas furnace and two gas inserts serviced for the coming winter season. The experience is ALWAYS positive. This week, we had the pleasure of getting our yearly service from the Sundance technician, Jordan Hansen. He was prompt, professional, knowledgeable, extremely courteous and made sure ALL our questions were answered. He remembered everything we asked and made sure our insert settings were put back exactly to our preferred settings. He even took a quick look at our Sundance-installed gas hot water heater, to make sure everything looked good there. Needless to say, we enjoyed our interaction with him. I worked with Sundance to install a heat pump/mini split in my house. After last summer's heat wave, I was motivated! I reached out in October and had a detailed conversation about my options, the age and structure of my house, and an honest assessment about when they would have time for my project. (Six months out.) I felt like all my questions were answered and that I had time to think about what would work best for me. Sundance replaced our HVAC heat pump September 2019. 3 excellent technicians arrived on time, removed the old unit and replaced the new unit in about 2 hours. During last week's cold weather, the new heat pump struggled to maintain thermostat temperature. Service call to Sundance brought another repair technician last Saturday who quickly diagnosed an incorrect heat pump setting. Bryan Hoeck was the technician, and he performed the service without charge since the original installation technicians updated system with the wrong zone settings. Totally right thing to do! I came home last Wednesday and realized that my thermostat was stuck at 62. I thought restarting the thermostat would do the trick, but no. I began to panick and called up many places over the night. Sundance was the first to get back to me in the morning and Bryan Hoeck came out within 30 minutes. He identified the problem right away - unfortunately it was the gas valve. They showed up the same day I called because my primary source of heat, the gas fireplace, was not working. Thanks to the Sundance dispatcher for feeling my pain, or in this case, my painfully cold fingers. Adam, the technician, showed up right on time. He put booties on his shoes to protect my carpeting. Really. Who does that anymore? He cleaned, rewired and fixed my fireplace in under an hour and for under $300. He also explained what was going on (too much load on the old, rotting wires thanks to my new programmable thermostat). The fireplace looks like brand new and best of all it's toasty-woasty in here. We had a great experience with Doug @ Sundance. We were in the market for a gas insert fireplace. Everyone representing company was very professional. Doug sat with us and talk through all our options. He was patient and helpful. Understanding that we were working on a limited budget he recommended a slightly blemished (it had a barely noticable scratch - totally cosmetic) unit their had on hand for a discount. I took one star out because when the service crew came out they used a standard size pipe instead of the larger one we discussed (for we had future plans). However, I truly believe when the time comes for more improvements, they'll get us as repeat customers. We've actually also used their plumbing services a year before we installed our gas insert. It was all due to the failure of the first company our home warranty had sent out to us multiple times. Finally the home warranty relented and gave us a second company (Sundance) to fix the leak. They came out without any delay, and checked out the leak in the wall. They gave us a totally different reason for the drip drip drip sounds we were hearing in the walls and fixed the hot water output so we weren't scalding ourselves in the tub.
