Old homes built on the sides of hills in the 1910s predictably have problems, below ground as well as in the above-ground structure. Responsive, knowledgeable contractors can be hard to find. Sewer Friendly took excellent care of a side sewer problem for me 10 years ago, so when new unrelated issue arose for an outside drain from a concrete basement stairwell, I called to request evaluation of what was going on and whatever remedy was needed. Sewer Friendly did another outstanding job! They significantly outbid their competitors, and were the only company who included replacing the pavers in their bid. Our 100 + year old homes original clay sewer pipes have seen their better days! Tree and shrub roots causing clogging issues for the past several years. We finally bit the bullet and had this amazing company install a sewer liner. RUN, if you want a sewer job that is incomplete, done poorly, improperly and on the cheap then Sewer Friendly is for you. Opened our line and left us without a sewer line for days. Told us they would do a liner and then backtracked on the cost saying it was 2,000 more than originally agreed. Their team put little effort in trying to unclog our line and then never showed up to do the jet like we were told they would. Such a scam and just overall a nightmare to deal with. Had to have another company come out to help us cause Sewer Friendly left our line clogged. Sewer Friendly told us there was grease in the line, they were totally wrong Come to find out it was a rock likely dislodged by their team when they were cutting the pipe with the spot fix they originally came to do. Izzy and Nacho came to do a sewer inspection for a house we were considering purchasing. They reviewed from several different angles, including getting on the roof and scoping down the vent stack. Had Izzy not taken the extra time to do this, we would have missed a broken pipe that was roughly 50% offset (the video was unmistakable) and needed to be replaced at a substantial cost. They came out to do a sewer scope in March 2025 and told me the were some cracks in my side Sewer before it joined the neighbors but said it wasn't urgent. A year later, the house next-door is being re-designed, and I had had a backwash into my basement before their sewer got disconnected. So I decided to get mine done. Do you check your home insurance insurance because it may cover wear and tear on your Sewer. Caleb and Company at Sewer Friendly were patient, kind and professional with my many questions. They spoke to both Safeco and the remodeling neighbor. They didn't need to speak to the neighbor, but they kindly did when he requested it. They are a locally owned family business. Our 1904 original side sewer needed hydrojetting every year, and the roots were eventually going to destroy the sewer line. Sewer Friendly came in with a slightly lower bid, and did incredible work to put in our liner. They have a rapid curing process so we were without water for just four hours. Rodo and Gabrielle did a great job installing the liner, and the two men who dug out the trench to access the line were pleasant and easy to work with - as was their front office. My wife and I have a sewage ejection pump located in our house's crawl space. Back in May, it failed for the third time in just four years and we had to get it replaced. We subsequently got a sewer scope performed from another plumbing company, and were told we needed to upgrade to an expensive, high end pump (called an E-1). We were under the impression that the E-1 was the only pump powerful enough for our sewer line which the city of Shoreline would permit. We subsequently contacted Sewer Friendly for an additional opinion. They came out in a timely fashion, assessed our situation, did their own scope, and contacted the city of Shoreline on our behalf. They advised us that the city would permit a much lower cost pump which would still be sufficient to meet the demands of our system. Sewer Friendly only does sewage ejection pumps on the outside of homes; if our pump wasn't in our crawl space we would have had them do the work. While Sewer Friendly did not perform the work in the end (our plumber who did the initial scope installed the new pump), the work done by Sewer Friendly saved us about $20,000 to $30,000 on our project. These guys are just pure class. I was calling everybody after the ice storm trying to get a section of pipe repaired. I get it, lots of people have needs after an ice storm, so I'm not mad about that at all. What was surprising was the hiked up prices I was seeing as far as quotes go. We had an external sewer line issue for a couple of years now for an old rental property. My house is older, but I only recently purchased it. I contacted Sewer Friendly because I had some slow drains and a gurgling toilet. Cameron came out and scoped the sewer line, explaining how to interpret what he was seeing. Turns out my sewer line has newer PVC piping in good condition and it it is all A-OK! While that means that my older home probably needs some internal plumbing updated, at least I don't have to worry about the sewer line. Phew! We had them come out for waterline leak and making a waterway on the concrete slab on the side of the building. Long story short, while doing the work, they had to change their plan because of the quirks of the building. While it was still effective, I felt the effectiveness would be lessened. I contacted the office and later Rick called me back with the explanation of the situation. He offered a new estimate for complete removal of concrete and complete solution to the problem, noting that it would cost more. He also offered full refund for the downpayment that I had made. We had a fantastic experience with Sewer Friendly! After getting 5 separate quotes, we hired Sewer Friendly to initially fix a couple feet of shallow broken cement pipe and install a two way clean-out, but it quickly became a much larger project that required digging up the whole sewer line outside the house. They were timely in getting a quote for the updated project at a very reasonable price. Josseth and Marcos did a great job keeping me updated while digging the trench, replacing the whole sewer line, getting the necessary inspections, and backfilling everything. After the main project, they've sent people out twice (at my request) to handle soil compaction/settlement problems above the 6-8 foot deep pipe as well as a second required city inspection. We had a smelly shower drain issue so we scheduled an appointment online to have them check out what the cause of the smell. They came out on time, ran camera thru drain and sewer line to see any problems. They found no problem and it was just dried out sewer so we didnt need to repair anything. We had a shared sewer line with a neighbor that ran from the back of our house, along the property line, to the street. Cracked and always full of roots. We decided to bypass the problem/neighbor by installing a new line on our property and running 70 feet to re-connect at the curb. I have some experience with sewer, so I knew what I wanted done and the materials for installation. We obtained 6 bids. A couple were too high, others pushed for doing a liner, another was unfriendly calling me too bossy, another was good price and considered. Sewer Friendly sent their estimators Joseth and Elias. They listened to me and fully investigated the issue with their scope. A pleasant team and they promised an email bid later that day. We went with Sewer Friendly. Work commenced two weeks later. Excavator, lots of digging, installation of schedule 40 PVC pipe-glued in 10' sections, then reconnected at the curb. One day the rain was miserable, but the crew were crankin', friendly and unfazed. Respect. All work was done perfectly according to contract. Sidewalk section replaced, trench filled back in, top soil with grasseed added. Very nice. We are pleased with the results and our new sewer line. Sewer problems can be stressful indeed, but there's no worries here. The folks at Sewer Friendly guided us through a very tricky situation in replacing a failing sewer connection to the city main. Additionally, they discovered that it was a shared connection with our neighbor. They helped us prove this fact to our skeptical neighbor, and then stuck by us through the long drawn out process as we contacted the city of Seattle to prove our case to that neighbor. Sewer Friendly also handled all of the city permitting for the replacement work, managed the flaggers etc, and generally made that part super easy for us. Really professional group over there. My husband and I own a Plumbing, Heating, and Sewer Company but don't have a side sewer license to perform sewer work in the cities right of way. Our good friends and neighbors had a major sewer back up. My husband spend 3 days working till midnight to clear their sewer to only find multiple breaks and the last major one under the sidewalk in the cities right of way. We were sad to have to refer our good friends out to another company but when we did, we were beyond grateful we sent her to Sewer Friendly. Sewer Friendly was able to come the very next next day. This was crucial as they were out of service, have 2 young kids at home, their Inlaws were arriving that day for an extended visit, and the mom was leaving for a 9 day work trip. This couldn't have happened at a worse time! But Sewer Friendly quickly eased the pain. Upon arrival, Friendly Sewer quickly scoped the sewer and informed my neighbor that the break was the cities responsibility. WHAT?!!!?! Like no way! Sewer Friendly could have totally closed this sale and scored a 15k sewer project. They did the right thing and told my friends the next steps. Sewer Friendly provided the copy of the sewer scope and even gave them the cities email to send the scope. The city quickly responded and was scheduled for 2 business days out. My friends are being charged nothing from Friendly or the City. After being in the industry for 30 years, this is an extraordinary company and experience. If I have any more customers with a right of way break, I will only refer them to Sewer Friendly. We had a big job for Sewer Friendly and they did a great job. We didn't get competing bids because when there was sewer line repair on our house upon purchase and we sought bids from local companies, including a local West Seattle business (where we're located), folks were quite unreliable and only Sewer Friendly followed through on exactly their word, executing on the cheapest of multiple possible options (the cheapest option definitely made the most sense here in context). We called them out to sleeve our entire side sewer line: over 200 feet! Rick took the time to help me understand the scope of the work and our options when he came out for the quote and was very knowledgeable on some potential issues in our sewer line we saw in the scope. The crew (Greg, James, and Johnny) got the work completed with only one additional day from our original rough expectation (6 days versus 5 days), which is pretty impressive given the crummy weather and the fact that 3 holes had to be dug and later filled, including one in concrete in a small street. There was no issue with inspection, holes were filed in very nicely, and they even covered the hole in our lawn with some sod because filling it in ended up leaving an ugly square in our yard otherwise (probably due to wild animals messing with the dug up grass). Thanks to Rick's detailed discussion with me upfront, there were no surprises in the work done and no unexpected work I had to be charged for. The only minor criticism I have is that the person at the office that worked with me on the quote wasn't with the company a month later when work began (I chose the timeline to be a month out for unimportant reasons), and so there was some confusion between the work order and my original discussions with that individual on work to be done because there were several versions of their quote that had been produced in that original discussion. To their credit, the owner (can't recall her name) and Elliott were very easy to reach over the phone and respected all the original terms and quoted pricing without fuss, which I had email records of. Everyone from the front office to the crew was very professional and the crew was generally diligent about wearing a mask whenever I came out to talk to them. Oh, and while they were out here Rick came out and helped me troubleshoot a tricky clogged drain in our laundry room. Excellent customer service the whole way. Would certainly work with Sewer Friendly again, but hopefully this fix is permanent so I won't have to! read more
