Not a trustworthy business! Direct bait-and-switch. I had my dryer serviced by Seattle Dryer Vent Cleaning (3217 S. Orcas St, Seattle). When booking, I was quoted $209.00 (possibly $219) and told there would only be an extra $50.00 charge if the vent went through the roof. My vent is incredibly short--it goes straight through the wall adjacent to the dryer for about 5 inches to the side of the house. At the end of the service, the technician, Richard, showed me a total of $209.00 on the payment screen. I tapped my credit card and signed based on that amount. However, when the invoice arrived via email, I discovered I was actually charged $305.75! The breakdown revealed multiple hidden fees that were never disclosed: * Base price hike: They changed the base price to $269.00, later claiming it was because the dryer is on the 3rd floor (which was never mentioned during booking). * Tax discrepancy: They charged a 10.66% tax rate ($28.68 on $269), which is higher than the actual Seattle tax rate of 10.55%. * Hidden surcharge: They tacked on an undisclosed $8.07 credit card surcharge. Have a dryer that's been yelling at me for some time (rental townhome built in 2022, vent never cleaned.) They came out in short order, made it work with my weird property layout, found creative ways to access things when they revealed themselves to not be easy to access.) I asked Seattle Dryer Vent Cleaning to clean my dryer vents because I was my dryer was taking a long time to dry my clothes for the past year or more. My dryer was old (23.5 years) so first I got a new dryer. However, when that didn't help I tried to clean the dryer vent myself. I discovered that my dryer vent exits on the roof of my house - so I realized I needed to hire someone. As I researched companies, I discovered there is a vast range of pricing and expertise available. The cheaper companies (~$150) won't go on the roof and often only clean the vent from one side. Although Seattle Dryer Vent is not the cheapest, they are knowledgable about what they do and they do a thorough job. The technician arrived on time, was pleasant, and seemed to immediately know what the problem would be when I explained the problem I was having with drying my clothes. It turns out the the builders (my home was built in 2002) hadn't removed a mesh screen from the vent on the roof which was preventing my vents from fulling expelling the dryer lint out the end of the vent. The technician removed the screen as part of the service. Thanks to Seattle Dryer Vent Cleaning company, my clothes now dry in a reasonable amount of time. I had a fantastic experience with this company from the phone call in to request a quote and schedule service, through the actual cleaning of my dryer vent. The technician, Brandon, was friendly and professional. He was respectful to our home (e.g. proactively wore shoe covers, requested permission to leave the entry door cracked for equipment, etc.) and did a very thorough job. We had a different company clean our dryer vent and they didn't get anything out, two different repair companies said it was a clog in the exhaust, and we manually detached our dryer hose and tried to clean it and the vent and got nothing out ourselves. Brandon worked on the exhaust from the exit on the side of our home and got whatever was lodged out (showed me a video of debris being vacuumed out). We have a dryer that was shooting fuzz and lint out of the external duct work for a little while, so we contacted Joe @ Seattle Dryer Vent Cleaning. He responded the same day, with a very thorough set of questions via text that helped him plan and quote the service for us within the hour. He came out to service the dryer the very next day. After thoroughly cleaning the dryer and the hosing / vent, I asked him what his opinion was of the exhaust duct work we had. It was the plastic accordion type duct work and it worried me.
