VERY happy now. Prior review: We hired Capitol Duct because they were the only company we called that used a scope (camera) to examine the ducts before cleaning. We should have gotten the ducts cleaned before installing an in-duct booster fan, but we didn't think of it, so we needed the cleaners to be extra careful with their rotating brushes in that area. They came out 3-2-26. [I deleted the rest of my review, but the photos can' be deleted - they show dirt that showed up on our filter 2 months later. I hired Capitol Duct Cleaning to clean a dryer vent in April 2025. Fourteen months later, when the dryer started malfunctioning, an appliance repair technician found the cause: a cleaning brush lodged in the duct. I don't know how or when the brush ended up there -- but I do know that a thorough duct cleaning should have found and removed it, and Capitol's did not. When I called to raise this, they denied any responsibility and offered excuses for why their air-hose method wouldn't have caught it -- while refusing to remove it now except as a new, separately paid job. Whatever the brush's origin, their original service demonstrably failed to clear the duct. I agreed to pay again anyway, just to get it resolved. I was told a manager would call me first to discuss it. No one called. I waited for the scheduled technician instead; no one showed. When I followed up, I learned the office had canceled the appointment without telling me. I rescheduled a third time, and to avoid any confusion, I emailed a photo of the brush along with the access details (about 10 feet in, no crawlspace) and asked them to confirm they could do the job at the agreed price. The email went unanswered. When I called, I was assured the office had seen it, reviewed the photo, and confirmed the job and price. Two weeks later, the technicians arrived -- 90 minutes early, before I was ready -- with no idea they were there to remove a stuck brush. After using about 15 minutes of my time, they concluded they couldn't remove it after all. I told them to leave and hired someone else. Across three separate appointments and every point of contact -- the initial cleaning a year ago, the manager callback, the scheduled visit, the confirmed job -- Capitol Duct Cleaning did not follow through on a single commitment it made. I had a heat pump and air cleaner installed in the last year and realized I needed my air ducts cleaned as I was still getting a ton of dust in the house. I've never lived in a house this long, so I didn't know this was a thing. The guy who installed my air cleaner told me about it and Capitol Duct Cleaning had the best pricing and personality. My first contact was Matt on the phone and he was very friendly and personable. He explained the process to me and the prices. I didn't know what it was going to cost but being on Social Security, I had to budget. They understood and I called back a couple months later to have the work done. To my surprise and delight, the appointment was made almost immediately! I also received a senior discount. A fine young man named Chuck, a veteran, came out to perform the work. He explained the service and we walked around to make sure he had the room he needed to get into all of the various floor vents. Being an agile young man, he was able to contort himself in magical ways so I didn't have to disturb my furnishings! The entire process took a little over two hours. Be advised that the service is a little bit loud and my cat was hiding for two hours afterwards. I am wary of having strangers in my home, but I felt secure around Chuck. He even checked out my air cleaner that had been installed incorrectly and was not even the brand that I was sold by another company. He assured me that I would be able to get a good price on the air cleaner I had originally thought I was being sold if I could return this one to the other company. I was very touched that he was so willing to make things right for me when he didn't make the problem in the first place. However, the company in question is small and I am giving them the opportunity to make it right because it's the only fair thing to do. A refund in this case would be a hardship on the company since air cleaners run about $1100. With all that said, I would happily use Capitol again and highly recommend them. I wish I could hire them for any other services I need in the house but apparently they want to stick with cleaning ducts. Heh heh. If you have any question on if you need to clean your ducts or dryer vents then you probably know the answer is yes. We moved into our house a few years ago and decided that it would be a good idea to get a professional to come in and get it done. They company was quick to respond, schedule the service and actually service my system. The truck they used is probably the coolest part of watching them set up because it's like a transformer. In the two hours they were at my house they cleaned all 11 of my vents, my return, my dryer vent (add-on service to the duct cleaning) and sanitized the system. Since they have serviced my dryer vent we have noticed that our dryer actually dries a large load of cloths in 1 try rather than 2 or 3 attempts and we will continue to have our vents cleaned in a regular basis. In the end, the price was excellent and both the customer service and quality of work was amazing. Trust me, these guys are good and you should stop looking, pick up the phone and schedule an appointment to come out and clean your furnace vents and dryer vents. One other thing I loved about this company is that they will not try to upsell you on services you do not need or push any additional items to purchase.
