Came to this establishment for a date, and I fell in love from the moment I saw this place from the street! The bar manager was really welcoming (I needed to use the bathroom when I got there, instead of just directing me, he walked me over) and laid everything out that I'd have needed to know really clearly. Seating is first come first served, and you order from the bar; the kitchen and bar both had fast service. I got the burger to eat, which was actually really substantial and delicious. Everything was cooked well. The drinks were strong, and delicious! You can also grab a deck of playing or uno cards for the table in case you want to do let your competitive side out a little bit. What a wonderful experience we had at NO BAR, located at the entrance of the Standard Hotel. As soon as you enter, a wonderful aroma fills your nostrils, commonly found in fancy hotel lobbies. The concierge (Lee Kim) was able to kindly share with us the name of this captivating smell. Grateful! We shared oysters and delicious bites. The latter delicacies surprised us with how tasty they were for bar food in New York, which we are used to consuming with a fatty and tasteless overtone; these were the total opposite! Came here in a Saturday evening and there was only a handful of people, which was nice since we were looking for a calm spot to grab drinks. The entrance was a bit hard to find, but just looked at photos to find our way to the hotel/restaurant and to the bar. The ambiance is so pretty and chic. The drinks were well balanced but strong. Bartenders were attentive and made sure to offer us another before we reached the bottom. Didn't get to eat any food since we were full when we arrived, but the options were appealing. Visited this newly opened bar/lounge that serves interesting cocktails & a handful of bar food but not your typical bar grub. It was their first night opening to the public & the vibe was very chill. Enjoyed the overall ambiance of the space & the decor was different from a typical bar. There are several booths, stools by the bar & standing areas to commune in this space. The bathroom is shared with the neighboring restaurant Narcissa and Winter Garden which can be a bit confusing to find if you've downed a few drinks. The two flights of stairs can be a challenge for the alcohol impaired. Once downstairs the space is an unisex open layout bathroom with each stall consisting of their own wall paper decor and sinks. Near the stalls there's a photo booth to kill time at or an oversized single chair to lounge on. The weight staff were pretty knowledgeable & cool. We tried a few different drinks & can't complain as we enjoyed all of them. Tried the rock shrimp, it was very good, weren't hungry therefore didn't try anything else to chomp on. So I came here last night to have some food and drinks with friends to celebrate my birthday. I heard good things and was excited to try thia place out. I arrive with my party of 9 and the place is pretty empty. Only one table of 3 and four people at the bar. We came right on our reservation time and still had to wait for a free table. Okay, wait for a table in a restaurant that is pretty much empty. So we sit down and wait for our orders to be taken. That was done in a timely matter. Now this is where things just start going downhill. Now as I said there was a table of 3 already sitting down and four people by the bar when we arrived. Shortly after us came a table of two. The food for most of our party took way too long. A simple thing like nachos or chicken tenders took like a hour or more to show up. I noticed people on the table after us got their order before us. So I'm trying to be like oh its whatever we ate having a good time even though some of my friends and I havent eaten yet despite being here for an hour already. Our main waiter barely walks by to check how things are or for us to have a chance and ask what's going on. So while some of us are still well into a hour in with no food, a friend of mine gets her burger and notices it has a sticker on the tomato. So someone in the kitchen didnt bother peeling off a sticker on a tomato? Gee I wonder if they bothered to clean it. So we bring it to the attention of a waiter passing by because the first waiter who tended to us just MIA. And he was surprised to see the sticker too and got her burger replaced thankfully. Also a waiter comes and informs us that the kitchen pretty much forgot about one of our orders. Mind you it's still kinda empty in here. So whatever everyone finally gets their food and we get the bill so we can go to our next destination. Man let me tell you how I lost my cool when it came to the bill. The price was not the issue. We put in $175 in cash and the split the remaining balance on cards. Mind you we added everything up to make sure the full amount plus tip was added in. For some reason 3 people are huddled up going over our payment like lol what. Then a waiter comes up and is like oh the bill is $58 short. One friend who was just tired and done put it on her card but the rest of us were like that doesnt add up at all. So we request the original bill again and add up the cards and the cash. When we ask for the cash we gave the waiter suddenly gets a whole new attitude and is like there is only $75 here. I'm like how? I gave $105 in cash and another friend gave $70 soooooo?? He then gets fussy and is like LOOK I COUNTED THE MONEY THAT WAS GIVEN TO ME OKAY. At this point I am 100% done because that tone was unprofessional so I'm like okay get the person we gave the payment to cause it wasnt you who came to take it. Again he is like listen I'm counting what was given to me. So we then noticed that THERE IS MONEY IN HIS OTHER HAND THAT HE DIDN'T COUNT! When we point it out he looks at it in confusion. I'm at lost for words at this point and let my friends deal with this. Therw wasn't a apology from him but from another employee. Hmm okay I felt the one who got the attitude should have but okay I guess. The drinks were tasty but weak and the food was okay. The place looks nice and it's a shame that the service is bad. I cant seem to understand how food would take as along as it did when there weren't many people in there. And they really cant keep making errors like that with people's money. Enough space at the bar and at booths to house a good number of friends, but wasn't there late enough to know if it becomes claustrophobic once primetime revelry begins around 10/11pm. The STINGIEST pours I've ever seen. I started with one from their cocktail list. It was mezcal-based, very good, and definitely more bang for your buck. I'm not really a mixed drink person, so I switched to Don Julio. Good God, I literally got the equivalent of a thimble-full. Can't see coming back for that. It just makes me sad. Also, only one bartender looking harried and overworked. Not good for him or me because I don't like feeling guilty every time I order something. We also got a cheeseburger and fries and those were both delicious. The bathrooms are a bit of a walk, and a lot of stairs, so that's good encouragement to stay on your toes. Came for a pride party and i had a BLAST!!' The dj was phenomenal and luckily there was no line to get in. On a normal day, the bar is more of a college scene (considering NYU is right next door) and definitely a fun crowd. Best part of the layout is that they have a whole delegate area that's a dance floor and has good sitting area too. Fun music and good dance scene! Here on Thursday night for Muse and watching Drag Race. The dJ was spinning really good house music, the audio and video of show was great, but the bar had almost all the the viewers roped off into a tight standing area which made it impossible to move around or buy drinks. They create a walkway for servers to serve tables, while everyone is standing squished. They need to get rid of the food service and just let everyone go where they want. read more

They recently rebranded to cover all the shitty publicity and honestly nothing has changed but the interior and the fact that they fired local drag queens from a show they built up in the space. They try to say they are lgbtqia+ friendly but they are just using others to reach new audiences. Highly disappointed, I called two weeks in advance to reserve a table for my birthday. They even took my card info and told there was minimum spend for reserving a table, which I planned accordingly with my guest, to simply avoid any confusion at the end of the night. Which ended up being a complete waste of time and as this was not the case. When my guests get there, they're told they don't have any reservations tonight. Now when I get there I find who I believe was the host, and ask about my reservation, I let him this has been booked for a while now and that I have a confirmation email. He apologizes and tells me no sorry they apparently never got the reservation from The Standard. Then the host tells me he's going to see what's up, after an hour of waiting around for him to come back they finally give us a table they we had to squeeze into. I'm baffled by the way things were handled and so disappointed as this place came highly recommended, and being in hospitality myself I know it could've been handled so much better. read more
