Great service, super friendly and polite staff. When you enter it gives off counter order vibes as it's right by the door with a small kitchen behind it. However, we were seated and it's a table service place. Though short on staff, we felt taken care of. We were 4 so ordered the sampler platter, ramen, mozz sticks and cheese corn. They fire the cheese corn at the table which was cool. The sampler came with 3 chicken flavors, garlic soy, yangyum and fried which can be spiced to your liking. Garlic soy was the best. The chicken was generally well fried though i wish the saucing was more even. The ramen is packaged with toppings added, they tell you upfront. We asked for several refills of the slaw that accompanied the chicken. It was good. This is a solid k-fried chicken place. I don't think you'd go wrong by dining here.

half Yangyum Fried Chicken, half plain

Saw this place on TikTok and was very excited to try. We ordered half yangyum and half plain wings. The wings were fried very well just as shown on social media. The yangyum sauce was good, but a bit sweet for me. Perfect amount of sauce! However, I am glad we got the plain wings to balance it out. The cabbage salad in the middle was refreshing and served as a great palate cleanser.

Delicious food a friendly service. This place does it right.

Delicious food and friendly service. This place does it right. We will be back. I had the crispy wings on this visit.

Whole chicken combo plate, half original, half yangyum

I was looking for Korean style chicken, and this one came up on a search. The search is over, I found the best spot. I ordered the half and half combo, half fried original and half yangyum, and both were delicious. The fried original was hot fresh and crispy, and the yangyum was also crispy, covered in a spicy and a bit sweet sauce. I got the level 3 spicy, and it was just right for a first visit. The service was excellent as well. I liked the casual atmosphere, very welcoming. I will definitely be returning in the future to try other flavors.

The food is darn good. So good. Went here on a Saturday, invited by friends. Something new to experience. The please is very tight on the seating, like most spots in this area. Cozy diner feel inside. Was acknowledged and seated fast. Food took a bit, but the place was packed and food was formally fresh. First time having Korean fried chicken. The best way to describe this place is Korean comfort food. It is just good and tasty and yummy. I got the Honey garlic on my chicken. It had hone garlic on it. Just perfect. I got the buttered soy rice as well. It was butter rice with soy sauce. Why was it so good? As I said. Comfort food. Simple. Tasty. Good.

Came at around 2pm on a Sunday and it was decently busy for a small restaurant. The tables were maybe 3/4 full. There was only one woman dealing with customers. I think she was the owner. She definitely had boss energy lol she was super friendly and helpful, even while being busy running all over the restaurant. She took to-go orders at the front, took orders at tables, and ran all food out to the tables. She had great energy, being so nice and hardworking, it made me want to come back to support her business. Food came out pretty fast. First small dish came out within 5-10 mins and the last entree came out in about 20 mins. Wings come slightly spicy with ranch and a small cabbage slaw. Also, you can get 2 flavors with the 10pc wings! Not sure how many flavors you get with the other counts, but just ask when ordering. GREEN ONION SLAW: I think I got the large on accident because I didn't specify size, so be careful about that. It was good, but I would've preferred the smaller size because it was only me eating it. The sauce is only drizzled on top, so it didn't feel like enough for how much green onions there were. I ended up ordering more sauce. HONEY GARLIC BREADED WINGS: Very mild flavor, despite having a little kick to it. I didn't mind that much because the chicken itself was so good, but I wouldn't get this flavor again. Loved the fry and crispy texture though. It was also super moist! MANGO BBQ BREADED WINGS: Good, but I couldn't taste any mango. It seemed difficult to pull off anyway, so I wasn't surprised. It just tasted like a good, slightly sweet bbq. Very flavorful though. YANGYUM COMBO: Came with 4 pieces. A leg, a small thigh, a full wing, and a fourth unidentified piece of white meat. We couldn't figure out what that last piece was lol regardless, though, this was delicious! Very flavorful and moist! Had a little kick to it, and nicely sweet! Highly recommend this flavor! FRENCH FRIES: Very lightly salted. I didn't think it was salted at all, but you could see the salt if you looked closely. I would've wanted more salt/seasoning, but we were given ketchup, which made it better. Cooked a little more than I prefer. More hard than soft. FRIED RICE CAKES: I got this on a whim, so I didn't think much about it, but it wasn't what I was expecting. I think I was thinking "pan-fried" rice cakes...these were "fried" fried. Crunchy and airy. Came with a sweet dipping sauce. They weren't bad, but not what I wanted. If I had ordered them knowing what they were, I probably would've enjoyed it a lot more. Worth a try if you like crunchy snacks.

Amazing high quality Korean fried chicken!! I've been here a couple of different times and each time the service was great and the workers were super friendly. The shop can get busy quickly but atmosphere is great for a couple of friends or even a date. I highly recommend the Korean fried chicken with the Yangyum sauce. Perfect level of sweetness and spice! I prefer to go for the boneless because they're easier to eat, but either way is good to be honest. Appetizers such as the corn cheese are also very good! I'll definitely keep coming back when I'm in the area!

Food was so amazing! Best Korean Fried Chicken we've ever had! I've been to multiple places and we always come back here! We always feel welcomed and at home! Definitely recommend coming here for great vibes and amazing food! 10/10 will not disappoint

Plain & Yangyum 20 Piece Chicken Wings
    Bryan V.

Had a late night craving for fried chicken so my friends and I came here! We opted to share 20 wings. Plain is not listed as a flavor for the wings but they're my favorite so I requested to make it half plain and half yangyum. I'm so glad I did because the plain wings were so much better. They were crispy and seasoned well. Perfect with ranch. The yangyum was more on the sweet side which I didn't care for too much. The cabbage salad in the middle is pretty good so make sure you don't skip trying that!

Not bad at all. The rice with butter and soy was surprisingly such a delicious side. I honestly could eat like 4 of em.... I know cuz I almost did. The cheese chicken is probably the best of the flavors. The rose rice cakes were pretty good. Worth a visit.

    Original and spicy
    Anna N.

I had VERY high hopes as this place was voted the best Korean fried chicken in DFW. I was expecting battered, double fried and extra crispy type of wings. I guess I should've known when they offered ranch with the wings But it reminded me more of Popeyes wings covered in some seasoning than Korean fried chicken. The original, tasted like Popeyes, with a little bit of spice. The spicy was spicy, but only seasoned on one side. The soy and their sweet and spicy were average. Overall, it was good, but not something to write home about.

    Nanette T.

Great customer service! I had the chicken platter with 3 different types of chicken...regular, spicy and garlic soy sauce. The cheesy corn was so creamy and my favorite was the green onion coleslaw. You won't be disappointed!

My good friend of mine - Byron S told me about this place called - "No. 1 Plus Chicken", so Bruddah man had to check 'em out! Are ya a fan of Korean Frrrrrrried Chicken? If so, then No. 1 Plus Chicken got ya covered! Located at a small strip mall in Dallas, you'll find many other Aisan eateries, as well as a Korean supermarket at this small strip mall. As I walked into No. 1 Plus Chicken, the small little restaurant was packed with folks, so I decided to do take out & eat my grub at my hotel room. Looking over the menu, I decided to get a 10 piece chicken wings with Yangyum sauce (sweet & spicy sauce) and a side of onion rings. What can I say about the grub? The Korean Frrrrrrried Chicken wings was OUTSTANDING! Good flavor, & very meaty pieces of chicken! As for the onion rings, the serving size really surprised me, as the serving was HUGE! Service here was on point, as the clerk who took my order was friendly & had advised me that my food order would take approximately 20 minutes or so (my actual time was a lot faster). Cravin' for KFC? Give No. 1 Plus Chicken a try! Bruddah Fran gives 'em a "shaka" sign!

Hi! Does anyone know if they use rice flour or wheat flour for the fried chicken? I know some Korean Fried Chicken places use rice flour....

Some places use rice flour ratio of 9 to 1 regular flour and rice flour. No one use 100 percent rice flour cause it will be sticky.

Does this place have a happy hour?

    They do not

Does anyone know if the seasonings have peanuts and tree nuts?

Yes. Their menu says they use sesame seeds.

I do think prices were slightly on the higher end and service was a little slow, but again, given the circumstances, I personally did not mind. There is an impressive selection of banchan that could almost be a full meal in itself. They were all very fresh and high quality. I ordered the galbi and spicy cold noodles. The galbi came on a sizzling plate. It was tender and flavorful. However, it was expensive, at almost the same price of dinner AYCE KBBQ. I personally wasn't the biggest fan of the spicy cold noodles, not because it was bad, but more so due to personal preference. The portion size was very generous though. My family ordered the shrimp fried rice and bulgogi quesadilla. The fried rice was very solid; it had good flavor, texture, and they nailed the portion of vegetables, protein, and rice. The bulgogi quesadilla was also delicious and I appreciate the creativity. The combination of bulgogi, japchae, and cheese might sound sacrilegious to some, but I thoroughly enjoyed it.

When I walked in, the place was empty. I stood at the "Please wait to be seated" sign for way longer than necessary--especially since there were no other customers. I finally peeked in and saw two employees busy counting receipts and money at the register. (Bad Impression #1). After being seated, I was actually enjoying the music until I felt something sticky on my forearm. It was a stray bean sprout left on the table (Bad Impression #2). To make matters worse, the tables are incredibly low. Even at my height, I had to hunch over the entire time. I eventually gave up on table manners and just held the rice bowl up to my face to eat comfortably. Regarding the food: it was a bit salty. The kimchi fried rice was average, but the kimchi stew really missed the mark. That was the moment I realized this is a fusion spot, not authentic Korean. It wasn't horrible, but it's definitely different from the real thing. BUT, can we talk about the massive portions? (Good Impression #1). Everything is clearly meant to be shared. The service was actually good. They have a buzzer on the table for service, which I loved. It saves you from having to track down a waiter. (Good Impression #2). The ambiance is loud, poppy, and "hip." You better like K-pop if you're coming here. It's not a first-date spot because it's hard to hear each other, but it's a solid place to hang out with friends who like the genre. Will I come back? Not actively. But if someone else suggests it, I won't fight them on it.

The restaurant shines with its premium, high-quality meats--sourced thoughtfully, including standout options from 44 Farms--carefully selected and prepared by Michelin-recognized chefs. Whether you go for the popular Taste of JOA (Signature or Premier boards) or individual cuts, the beef and pork options consistently impress with rich marination, perfect tenderness, and that satisfying sizzle on the grill. Popular favorites that reviewers rave about include the marinated bone-in short rib (galbi), prime short rib, ribeye, hanger steak, pork belly, and specialties like flash-fried short ribs or shrimp. The meats arrive beautifully presented, cook evenly at the table, and deliver deep, savory flavors--often described as juicy, flavorful, and reminiscent of authentic home-style Korean cooking elevated with premium technique. Sides (banchan) are a highlight: fresh, generous, and "unreal" according to many, with standouts like mushrooms, Brussels sprouts, steamed egg soufflé, corn cheese, kimchi fried rice, and soybean paste stew (doenjang jjigae) that round out the meal perfectly. The experience wraps up sweetly with ice cream for a complete, shareable feast ideal for groups or celebrations. The atmosphere enhances everything: lively, stylish, and vibrant with a sleek, modern interior featuring neon accents that feels fun and energetic without being overwhelming--perfect for date nights, family gatherings, or special occasions. Service earns frequent praise for being attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable, with staff guiding first-timers through the grilling process. Cocktails and drink towers add to the festive vibe, pairing beautifully with the smoky, savory food. Nuances and considerations: Pricing reflects the premium ingredients and experience (Taste of JOA runs around $42-$54+ per person, with upgrades for A5 Wagyu or larger parties), so value opinions vary--some see it as worth every penny for the quality and fun interactive element, while others note it can feel a bit higher-end for casual dining. A few reviews mention occasional inconsistencies in service pacing during busy times or subtle variations in ambiance depending on the crowd, but the majority describe it as consistently enjoyable and welcoming. Portions work best when shared, and the interactive grilling adds a social, hands-on layer that many love (bring a group to maximize the fun). Note that as of recent updates, the restaurant has been temporarily closed--check their website, social media, or call ahead for current status before planning your visit. Overall, JOA Grill excels at blending tradition with innovation: fire-kissed premium cuts, abundant flavorful sides, creative cocktails, and a lively yet comfortable setting make it a standout choice for anyone craving high-quality Korean BBQ in Dallas. It's frequently called one of the best in the city for good reason--great for meat lovers, groups, and those seeking an elevated yet fun dining adventure.

Took me a while to write this, but I came back here because I had a good dinner here and decided to…read moredo a Korean bbq closer to my home. We were even greeted with a welcome back and given a welcome back coupon, which I loved, so the night started out well. Now for context to my frustration, last time we went here, our server cooked everything, so we only came back because we wanted to go to a Korean bbq specifically where they cooked the meat for you as well. Apparently, that isn't the norm. We ordered drinks and then waited a substantial amount of time before the servers came back to ask for our food order. Literally the table next to us ordered before us and we're basically near the end of their meal before we even ordered. Mind you, we were seated right in the thick of where the servers go in and out of the kitchen and you can see everything going on (or lack of anything). Drinks took forever to come and they started cooking one of the meats and then never came back. They kept walking past our table and not saying anything. We had to tell them that we needed help and asked if someone was going to cook for us. They apologized and would start cooking again only when we complained, but then would proceed to leave and not come back until we asked again. They kept giving us excuses that they were short staffed, which is understandable, but not when we can see them literally doing nothing about it. There was no sense of urgency or trying to work harder since they were understaffed. They would stand at the little computer at the door to the kitchen looking like they were doing something, while the rest of the restaurant was being ignored. We mentioned to them multiple times that we were being ignored and they offered to take care of us with dessert or maybe comp something at the end. At this point, I'm quiet because I'm visibly annoyed by the incompetence and got to the point where I didn't even want to talk to the staff anymore. I kinda have RBF, so I know they were feeling my frustration. We were almost done eating and were waiting for them to start cooking the shrimp, which was the last meat on our combo, and the server came by and asked if we wanted the check. I was like, "we aren't even done eating, we were waiting for someone to cook the shrimp." Now if they initially told us that we would be cooking, this all wouldn't be a problem, but we were under the impression that they would cook our food, which was the root of the entire service problem we were having. Finally, they came by with desserts that were on the house, even though I really wanted them to just comp something instead, but they didn't give us the option. We didn't even want dessert, but were forced to eat it because they felt it was a good solution to the problems with service. They even asked if we wanted a shot on the house, but I didn't want to drink alcohol that night, and when I refused, they teased me about it. It's my business if I want to drink or not, but don't assume everyone thinks alcohol solves everything. That left a sour note in my mind and sealed the deal that we won't come back. For how expensive this restaurant is, they need to have top tier service, and this was not it. I suggest you stay away!
