This was our first time today visiting this eatery. One of the family member's birthday and she selected this place for lunch. The restaurant was near capacity; however, we had a very short wait. We were seated and our server was Christian. We selected Crab Rangoon, Moo Shu Chicken, Veggie Hand-Pulled Noodles, Vegetable Spring Rolls, & L-Beef with Broccoli. The entrees came out hot. The chicken was very tender. The food taste was typical of Chinese restaurants. I give MiYa high marks for its customer service. Well, MiYa Chinese, your marketing team deserves a raise because somehow y'all convinced me to drive 33 miles for Chinese food. That's commitment. That's gas money. That's "this better be good" mileage. I ordered the ribs, combo fried rice, and steamed pork bao, and unfortunately, my taste buds never got the memo that we had traveled 33 miles for this experience. Was it bad? No. Was I blown away? Also no. Would I rave about it to somebody else? Probably not. Everything was decent, but the flavors just didn't give me that "okayyyy, now I understand the hype!" moment I was waiting for. I'd been seeing MiYa Chinese all over TikTok and had been wanting to try it for months, so I finally talked my wife into going and made it out. It definitely lived up to the hype, and I'd give it a solid 4 stars-honestly, it was really close to a 5. We ordered the BBQ Ribs, Spicy Jade Shrimp Dumplings, Spicy Beef Tossed Noodles, and a margarita. The Spicy Beef Tossed Noodles were my favorite. The noodles had a great texture, and the beef had just the right amount of spice without being overpowering. The Spicy Jade Shrimp Dumplings were also excellent, and the ribs were tender, flavorful, and a great way to start the meal. Even the margarita was surprisingly good. The restaurant had a nice atmosphere, the service was friendly, and everything came out fresh. The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is because I want to come back and make sure this experience wasn't a one-time thing. If the food and service are just as good on my next visit, it'll easily earn that fifth star. This was our first time here and it won't be our last. Cool decor inside the restaurant and lots of staff. We had crispy chicken bao, pork bao, moo shu chicken, and beef and broccoli. We were not aware that a sit-down Chinese restaurant existed in Lake Highlands, so this discovery was unexpected. It was a pleasant surprise. We went for a late lunch/early dinner on a Sunday. Long story short: the food is excellent, easily 5 stars. The rest of the experience was a 1 or 2 stars. If the food was not so good, we would never return. We arrived shortly before 4pm and were surprised to see that the restaurant was completely full. We put our name on the wait list and were told about 20 minutes. In reality, 20 minutes turned into 45 minutes. One of the problems is that people linger after paying their check as if they have nothing else to do except occupy a table. Maybe they don't. That is not controllable by the restaurant. But another problem is that the restaurant appears not to have a dedicated busing staff. I observed that when a table came open, one waiter would take one thing off and walk away. Then a few minutes later another waiter would take off one more thing. A third waiter would take off the rest. A fourth waiter would eventually wipe the table and set it up. Isn't it possible to have a more efficient system? They had 3 hostesses at the front but no busing personnel. Odd. We were next in line when a table came open that seated 5. We were 3 people. I asked if we could sit there but was told that it was for 5 people, So we waited more. Eventually, we got a table that seated 4, but the table was so small that it was really difficult to fit our order onto the table. As we were eating, I noticed a party of 2 seated at a table with 5 chairs. Right next to the 5 table was a table for 2, so that was curious. Another criticism was that the bathroom was extremely dirty. They have only two but the one I used to wash my hands was really disgusting. There were lots of waiters even though the restaurant was not very big. The overall impression is chaos and disorganization. There appeared to be a lot of take out orders but the kitchen did a good job getting our food quickly. That was a plus. The food itself was outstanding. The Bao soup dumplings were excellent, easily as good as at Jeng Chi which is our favorite place for dumplings. The wife loved her Mongolian beef and the beef was very tender. My Mu Shu chicken was also excellent and I was very pleased to get enough pancakes and plum sauce. Often, a restaurant will give you a huge portion of mu shu chicken and then a couple of small pancakes and insufficient sauce. The Jasmine tea was good quality and very tasty. Absolutely no complaints about the food. When we clearly had finished eating, our waiter came by to ask if we wanted soy sauce. Odd. I don't know how long this restaurant has been open but maybe they are going through the pains of newness. Everything was disorganized and poorly run. This restaurant is a welcome addition to Lake Highlands. If they can get organized and correct some operational aspects, it will be a gem for excellent Chinese food for a very long time. read more

Ordered the Sichuan Vegetable Dan Dan noodles with beef. The description says that has a sesame sauce but the noodles tasted exactly like peanut butter and the beef tasted spoiled. I was very disappointed after spending over $62 for 3 dishes. We also ordered the vegetable tofu, which was good but watery and mostly a plate of broccoli. The dish that tasted great was the spicy beef tossed noodles. My warning is to be sure that you absolutely love peanut butter if you order the Sichuan Vegetable Dan Dan noodles, unless they have us the wrong dish because we ordered it to go. Very overrated. The food was just not good. We ordered the chashu fried rice, crispy duck, hot n sour soup, wonton soup, and xiao long bao. The fried rice had completely raw onion in it and was lacking flavor. Nothing to write home about really, comparable to Panda Express maybe. The soups were pretty much like any other cheap Chinese restaurant soup. The xiao long bao was soggy and already leaking broth by the time I was trying to eat them. And lastly the crispy duck was deep fried duck meat. Traditionally it's roasted but understandably that's quite a bit harder to cook and takes a lot longer so shortcuts were welcome as long as it tasted good. But unfortunately it just wasn't good and unlike other deep fried foods you would eat anywhere else the skin wasn't crispy at all. It was oily and chewy with barely any crispiness. Service was below average. Our server wasn't very nice nor was she attentive. The hostess was sweet, though. At least there's that I suppose. Plenty of parking. Restrooms were clean. Easily a 5/5 for the food alone. I only held back one star because the ambiance could use a little refreshing. When you walk in, you're immediately in the dining area--there's no real entryway or waiting space--so the tables near the door feel a bit too close to all the in-and-out traffic. That said, everything else was fantastic. Kathy, our server, was wonderful: attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely warm. We ordered several dishes--bao buns, sesame chicken, and lo mein--and everything was incredibly fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. Best Chinese food I've had in ages!!! Our server was super attentive, upbeat, and made great suggestions. We started with a pot of Jasmine tea and then proceeded to order an array of delicious items. The ribs were fall off the bone and perfectly sweet and savory. Both dumplings were perfect in their own right. We are a party of 4 and sat at 4 top ,but the table was so small we could not eat comfortably. Since the dishes are more of a family style, we could not fit all the plates on the table and had to put food on other plates so there can be more space.
