Outstanding experience at Miya Chinese. From the moment we walked in, the customer service was superb. The staff was friendly, attentive, and made us feel genuinely welcomed throughout the entire visit. We tried the General Tso's chicken, orange chicken, bao buns, and fried rice, and every single item was fresh, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. The General Tso's chicken had the perfect balance of sweetness and spice with a crispy texture that stayed fresh until the last bite. The orange chicken was equally impressive with a bold citrus flavor and tender chicken that did not taste overly greasy. The bao buns were soft, fresh, and packed with flavor, while the fried rice was seasoned perfectly and paired well with everything we ordered. Supurb! Excellent! OMG this was so fresh and cooked to perfection. Singapore noodles w/shrimp and no curry for approx $20. Generous portion w/left overs. The vegetables were fresh and not overcooked, still maintaining their crunch. The shrimp were huge, probably 10/15, with some being u/10. This didnt seem to be high in sodium at all. Entry from the front door lands you right in the dining room. On a Saturday afternoon, the dining room was packed, a 20 minute wait. I opted instead for a to-go order. This spot was a winner that will make me return and deviate from my norm of Singapore noodles to explore the menu. read more

We came in on a busy Sunday. Luckily there was room at the bar so we were seated swiftly. If it wasn't for that we would've been waiting an hour. The bartender was very friendly! We ordered the spicy dumplings. I think they changed my life. The hand pulled noodles were amazing as well. I wish I got a photo of the drinks we had. They were beautiful and delicious. My husband has been wanting to check this place out since it opened and it did not disappoint. The spricy shrimp wonton were my absolute favorite. We got two orders of them they were so good. Best Chinese food I've had in ages!!! Our server was super attentive, upbeat, and made great suggestions. We started with a pot of Jasmine tea and then proceeded to order an array of delicious items. The ribs were fall off the bone and perfectly sweet and savory. Both dumplings were perfect in their own right. I liked sipping the soup from the soup dumplings then filling with some of the chili sauce from the spicy shrimp dumplings. Finally, the hand pulled noodles were perfectly chewy and soft. Random weekday dinner dine-in. I was super shocked to see such a crowd. However we were quickly seated. Our server for the evening promptly greeted us and shared a glass of water and made house recommendations. We decided to try egg rolls as an appetizer and decided on our entrees shortly after. I went with the black pepper beef noodles and my beau got orange chicken. All the dishes came out plated beautifully and was pretty decent in taste. I think I need to try the dumplings or buns next time to get the real experience of this place. We weren't too exploratory during our visit and stuck to the basics. We were not aware that a sit-down Chinese restaurant existed in Lake Highlands, so this discovery was unexpected. It was a pleasant surprise. We went for a late lunch/early dinner on a Sunday. Long story short: the food is excellent, easily 5 stars. The rest of the experience was a 1 or 2 stars. If the food was not so good, we would never return. We arrived shortly before 4pm and were surprised to see that the restaurant was completely full. We put our name on the wait list and were told about 20 minutes. In reality, 20 minutes turned into 45 minutes. One of the problems is that people linger after paying their check as if they have nothing else to do except occupy a table. Maybe they don't. That is not controllable by the restaurant. But another problem is that the restaurant appears not to have a dedicated busing staff. I observed that when a table came open, one waiter would take one thing off and walk away. Then a few minutes later another waiter would take off one more thing. A third waiter would take off the rest. A fourth waiter would eventually wipe the table and set it up. Isn't it possible to have a more efficient system? They had 3 hostesses at the front but no busing personnel. Odd. We were next in line when a table came open that seated 5. We were 3 people. I asked if we could sit there but was told that it was for 5 people, So we waited more. Eventually, we got a table that seated 4, but the table was so small that it was really difficult to fit our order onto the table. As we were eating, I noticed a party of 2 seated at a table with 5 chairs. Right next to the 5 table was a table for 2, so that was curious. Another criticism was that the bathroom was extremely dirty. They have only two but the one I used to wash my hands was really disgusting. There were lots of waiters even though the restaurant was not very big. The overall impression is chaos and disorganization. There appeared to be a lot of take out orders but the kitchen did a good job getting our food quickly. That was a plus. The food itself was outstanding. The Bao soup dumplings were excellent, easily as good as at Jeng Chi which is our favorite place for dumplings. The wife loved her Mongolian beef and the beef was very tender. My Mu Shu chicken was also excellent and I was very pleased to get enough pancakes and plum sauce. Often, a restaurant will give you a huge portion of mu shu chicken and then a couple of small pancakes and insufficient sauce. The Jasmine tea was good quality and very tasty. Absolutely no complaints about the food. When we clearly had finished eating, our waiter came by to ask if we wanted soy sauce. Odd. I don't know how long this restaurant has been open but maybe they are going through the pains of newness. Everything was disorganized and poorly run. This restaurant is a welcome addition to Lake Highlands. If they can get organized and correct some operational aspects, it will be a gem for excellent Chinese food for a very long time. read more

I thought this place was super cute! I was excited because I expected an authentic Chinese restaurant similar to those in Chinatown. The portions were a great size and meant for sharing. We are a party of 4 and sat at 4 top ,but the table was so small we could not eat comfortably. Since the dishes are more of a family style, we could not fit all the plates on the table and had to put food on other plates so there can be more space. Easily a 5/5 for the food alone. I only held back one star because the ambiance could use a little refreshing. When you walk in, you're immediately in the dining area--there's no real entryway or waiting space--so the tables near the door feel a bit too close to all the in-and-out traffic. That said, everything else was fantastic. Kathy, our server, was wonderful: attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely warm. We ordered several dishes--bao buns, sesame chicken, and lo mein--and everything was incredibly fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. Just got into town and this was a place that popped up! So glad we gave it a try everything was really tasty. The crab ragoons were delish!! The homemade noodles were great and the dumplings were perfect! The whole place is so freaking cute inside! Our only complaint was the rice it really just wasn't good! But they had no issue with it and took it off the bill. And some items we believe were placed a little high. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Umm YES this place is AMAZING!!! The interior has great vibes and is so inviting. The staff was kind and our server Adam was a freaking sweetheart. WOW! I do mean WOW! Chinese (American Chinese) is pretty much the same no matter where you go, but not here. They raise it up to new levels! It is very easy to find and there is a lot of shared parking, meaning you may not be in front, but you will find a spot. Once inside, the decor is fresh, bright, and screams Chinese! Heh, the music was screaming "Ray likes THIS!" as it was top 40's hits from the early-mid 1980's. Then there was multiple tiers of super attentive staff! They were beyond just servers. MiYa fills a need for quality Chinese cuisine. It not only fills but delivers an exceptional dining experience. The interior is open and beautiful. The visible open kitchen is a wonder in itself. Some tables have Lazy Susan set up for eating family style. Chefs at work is a symphony of activity producing delicious food. My waitress ( Nikki ) made our first visit memorable and very enjoyable. The chicken egg rolls for appetizer was a good choice. One entree was Garlic shrimp with vegetables. Tasty The other entree was General TSO's Chicken was outstanding. You have the choice of rice. This place was pretty good! I like the interior and that you can watch the chefs in the open kitchen as you eat. For all this food, I spent about $70 which seems a little expensive for what we got. But I can't lie, the food was exceptionally good. The veggies were covered in garlic and the chicken had this sticky coating with sesame seeds that was so yummy. The dumplings were good, even better with the dipping sauce. The chicken wasn't fatty and didn't have any bad cuts. It was only the good parts of the chicken and very tender and juicy. The service was ok, it was hard to get our server's attention at times, but not bad at all. Overall, it was above average! I would probably come back and try more food. read more

I heard amazing things about MiYa and wanted to check it out. I ordered delivery and chose General Tso's chicken. Loved the fact you can tailor how spicy you prefer it to be. Often that's not the case, particularly for delivery at Chinese restaurants. The bag it came in was also really cool. Elastic and can be reused. The chicken was white meat, flavorful, tender, and had no filler. Usually general tso's has a lot of dark meat or filler. I would definitely order this again. The one downside is it includes zero vegetables. Typically it would include broccoli. But that's an additional $3. In excited to try more dishes from here in the future. read more

I had to write a new review for our latest take out order. Last time we had some issues, but they addressed them immediately. Tonight they had their stuff together. With 25 online orders to fill plus call in orders and people in the dining room, they had our fresh, hot, correct order ready to go within minutes of their estimated time. I ordered the chicken lettuce wraps and even though they are on the appetizer menu and it doesn't look like much, it's plenty and very filling. They are very flavorful. I recently ordered takeout and ordered a lunch special of the general tso chicken, based dish with ground beef. The lunch special was served with white rice and it was a pretty decent size portion the noodles, however was highly rated, but it was my least enjoyable dish. I think this dish would've been much better with pieces of ribeye, but not grounded meat. Nonetheless it was still tasty, but wasn't my favorite. This also is not a comparable Chinese spot for take away on and often basis because my order was close to $35 for two dishes. It's still not that bad but I definitely would come here on special occasion. I placed my order over the phone was easy and one of the hostesses were really nice and asked me if I needed anything and grabbed me things that I asked for while another host. This was pretty rude. When I asked her for certain things, she said it should be in the bag, but obviously when I opened the bag and asked for the items that I wanted, they weren't in there. So I was grateful that the other host stepped in and noticed that I needed something and didn't hesitate to ask and help. I would try this spot out again and dine in as I'm sure that will make my experience, especially with the soup dumplings. This week special is their Southeast spicy dumplings with shrimp, they were generously portioned, packed with shrimp, and paired with a flavorful spicy sour sauce that really brought it all together. The combo noodles were decent but missing that signature wok hei flavor we were hoping for. The xiao long bao were also decent, but the meat filling was too soft. The flavor was not mind-blowing, but they hit the spot. They make all the wrapping and noodles in house which we thought was very impressive. I ordered takeout from MiYA and their service was really quick. They nicely packed our food with to go utensils and plates so we could share with our guests. The place was packed and definitely a hotspot for locals. For appetizers, we got the spicy jade shrimp dumplings. They were a perfect balance of spicy and sour. Our friends loved the dish and wished we had ordered more. For our main dish, we got Miya's combo hand pulled noodles. I loved the flavoring and also the different meats. The noodles had the perfect texture and everything went well together. I would definitely get this dish again! Lastly, we also got the MiYa's spicy chicken, which I personally wasn't the biggest fan of. The combination of chicken, jalapeño, and their schizhuan spicy bean sauce did not work for me. The decor is modern and colorful and for a busy Friday night, we were seated fairly quickly upon arrival in spite of them pretty packed. We started off with drinks, the Casa Linda Mule is solid and the addition of the grapefruit juice and Aperol makes it extra refreshing and a little different. We also ordered the combo dumplings as an appetizer, they were juicy and savory but be careful not to scald your mouth (like I did) because they are really hot! *Worth it* For dinner I got the Kung Pao Shrimp and hubby, the Sesame Chicken. Both came out piping hot and were really delicious but I wasn't a huge fan of all the cut up pieces of chili peppers but I was easily able to scoot them aside.
