Came for the omurice...stayed for the katsu. Random little Korean-owned Japanese restaurant we found in the Dallas Koreatown area. The presentation of the omurice was *chef's kiss* and tasted pretty decent, just isn't something I'd get again. My friends and I enjoyed the katsu -- super crispy but not greasy and the meat was tender and juicy. No dryness here! I loved that the entrees were accompanied by a side of mac salad, rice and cabbage salad. Loved the variety which helped breakup the monotony of constantly chowing down on fried food. The portions are pretty generous! We'll be back to try more dishes.
Located in a small strip plaza, Onedon doesn't look like from the exterior. However, once we walked in, we were greeted warmly by the staff. There's plenty of seating and overall it's a welcoming space. I tried the classic pork katsu with curry, #8 on the menu. It was very well done. Starting with the side macaroni salad, it complemented the protein very well. The meal also came with aioli and obviously curry. The curry paired perfectly with the katsu (pour the extra over the rice). The katsu portion was super generous, and the crispy batter made it that better. Overall, it's a great quick meal spot. We recommend!
Found this place on tiktok, because of SamsPOV. It did not disappoint! The curry cheese katsu was so delicious!!! I have a favorite spot up in Las vegas for japanese curry and this takes the spot to fill my craving. Excited to come back and try some other dishes !!
I am a korean who grew up eating hamberg steak and katsu. This place brings me back to childhood everytime, and it became a must stop when I come to dallas. Hamberg steak is essentially a Hawaiian style meatloaf with grilled pineapple on top. I love this meatloaf- crunchy outside and juicy inside. Korean style katsu is a little different than japanese style. It is thicker and the covering fry is not as fluffy. Sauce is sweeter. Nonetheless, delicious. I dare to say this is one of the better katsu place in all of halls AND houston. I hope to try their other menu next time! But it's hard to veer from the classics. Service is great. Price is reasonable- has large portion.
Yum! Really casual spot. You order at the register and they bring the food out. Friendly service and our food came out pretty quick. The don katsu is huge! And the cheese katsu is really dense and filling. The curry was meh. I'd recommend and I'll probably be back!
Fried food with big portions. I got the cheese don katsu and it was extremely filling. The place is medium size and doesn't seem to get super busy. The cashier is helpful and patient. I wouldn't suggest this as an everyday meal but great location when you want a katsu.

This was a great meal. Owner was super nice and sat us down at 7:30 even though the place closes at 8:00 thank you sir. Food was excellent and very large portions. The curry was very flavorful and unique, not too thick but not too watery as well. The katsu my friends got were MASSIVE and very crispy, absolute cinema. Personally, my omurice was ok, felt it was too sweet for my personal taste. Still great food though nonetheless, highly recommend checking out.
I've had Onedon bookmarked for a long time! Glad I finally went. The people were super nice and friendly. They suggested we get a larger table and it made perfect sense! My rose pasta was in a giant bread bowl and it was massive! Taste wise, its kinda standard pasta, nothing special with some dryish Ikea type meatballs. My friend got the curry katsu and that thing was fantastic! crispy flavorful and filling. It's a nice chill area on the weekday with plenty of parking so I can see myself coming back with my family to grab a tasty fried katsu again.
Inside was clean and the guy serving was prompt and nice. The food portions were amazing. The don katsu was super crispy and paired well with the sauce and side yummies. The hamburger steak was seasoned well and also had a beautiful presentation. Would definitely come back again and again.
Stopped in to check out a new place and happy that I did! The restaurant was very clean and the gentleman behind the counter was friendly and patient with my questions. I had the Curry Omurice and it was awesome with a great flavor and super tender egg. I will definitely be back!
Everything was pretty good! Above my expectations. I think it's a bit on the pricier food but the flavor was definitely on point. Would consider visiting again.
Fish Katsu, Katsu Don, Hamburg Obsessed with this place. Best katsu ever!!! The fish katsu was mindblowing, and comes with a nice tub of tartar sauce. The hamburg was yummy with a perfectly cooked egg and pineapple. Always love the little side things that come with each dish!

When I first came here, it was empty, which I was very surprised with. However, their quick service really impressed me and their food impressed me even more. I ordered chicken Katsu curry stuffed with mozzarella cheese and shrimp tempura and they were the crunchiest and freshest food I've ever tasted. The shrimp tempura and the egg salad-like dipping sauce complemented each other so well. The restaurant itself has a very nice ambience with music playing in the background and good lighting. My food also came very fast and the server already prepared to go boxes without me even asking, which was very very sweet of her. read more
Small restaurant with a local vibe. One HUGE tv on the back wall that played a mix of music videos. I've never had omurice before and I wanted to try something new. Service was pleasant and friendly. She took out offers and within minutes we were seated and served. I had the traditional omurice with a side of fried shrimp. Essentially a ball of rice stuffed with some veggies, protein of choice and then wrapped in an egg. That was the impressive aspect. I don't know how they did it but the egg was fried and wrapped that it almost looked like whipped cream. It was a savory and hearty meal. But I wasn't so moved as to try it again. My companions loved it. To each their own I say. But I can't take anything from it. It was a good experience. read more
Ambiance: Very chill vibes and super clean. The service is incredible, and he checks on you often to make sure you are comfortable. The menu is very extensive as they also have many other types of katsu. Cheese Katsu: This dish came out fresh and perfectly crispy. The portion size is very generous, and the katsu was packed with gooey cheese that oozed out with every bite. The sauce was unique, not like traditional Japanese katsu sauce, but more mild and less tart which paired nicely. The mac salad and side salad were both great additions, helping balance out the richness of the fried chicken. read more

Limited menu, but what I had was very good! I had #8 Curry Don Katsu which was very large and very good! Crispy, juicy, and again LARGE! It came with macaroni salad, Cole slaw, rice. The curry sauce was delicious, but this was the only part I felt was a little skimpy. Service was prompt and the atmosphere was quiet. read more

If you want a really crispy pork cutlet aka don katsu, or any crispy fried protein for that matter, come visit this place. Don Katus are the size of your face and the generous portion will keep you full. It is a hole in the wall and they have unique items too such as Don Katsu Roll and pasta in a bread bowl. (5/5) Shrimp Tempura You should not leave this place without trying this. It's the most delicious shrimp tempura I've had this year and paired with their chunky, creamy, and tart tartar sauce, it's the perfect combo. The texture of the shrimp is heavenly as well! (4.5/5) Curry Don Katsu The crunch on the Don Katsu is absolutely amazing. The curry which comes on the side is mild but somehow has a lot of flavor, it's very pleasant paired with each other. Loved the little jalapeños that comes on the plate which was nicely SPICY and all the other fixings too! (3.5/5) Cheese Omurice Chicken or shrimp fried rice with mozzarella encased in lightly cooked omelette egg sitting in a pool of tomato-ey gravy sauce. The egg is very soft and the fried rice portion is hefty. The rice could've had more flavor and the sauce didn't compare to the curry sauce. read more
This place does donkatsu right!! The portions are HUGE and the katsu is crispy and juicy. The cheese katsu is also huge and filled with cheese. It's exactly what you think of when ordering a katsu. Their side dishes go really well together too. Ordering was fast and the restaurant was super clean. You will not be disappointed if you come!!! read more
I went here as I had no clue of where to eat after playing Pokemon in Grapevine. It was on the way home and I am a sucker for curry and breaded, but did not realize there was a Korean style. The place is small and see the menu. The only problem is that there are no description of the plates. The guy noticed I was taking awhile and he recommended the One Don Special #1. I did not know what it was so I went with that. Anything with a "Don" is the pork. I should have known as the pig is the mascot. The food takes around 10 minutes to make and even though it costs $17 dollars, it was well worth it. I ended up getting rice, salad, orange slice, mac salad and a big piece of pork cutlet. It was more Hawaiian I thought. The curry sauce was awesome, wish they gave you more though as I wanted to drench the sucker. The meat was not dry. The meal was so good I ended up eating the whole thing. I would definitely come here again and take my wife to eat here next time. read more

Good portion and services. Refreshing ang good amount of salad. The katsu was nicely fried, but it has no seasoning at all. I suppose sauce/curry is given, but I would still prefer light seasoning on the katsu. read more
Doesn't look like much when you walk past, but I was dying for some food, so I chose Onedon. There were a couple of guests and the location is wheel chair accessible. When I walked in, I was immediately greeted by the front attendant which I assumed was the owner. He definitely gave me the vibes that he was the one in charge. It was our first time here, but he recommended a couple of menu items. He said the Don katsu was a pretty popular choice, so that's what I got. My two buddies got the Cheese Omurice with chicken and Curry Omurice with chicken. It's time for the food. First of all, all of the dishes tasted amazingly fresh and hot. My cabbage salad tastes really refreshing and the veggies tasted nice and washed. The Macaroni salad was amazing. Definitely could've ate a bowl of it to be honest. The pork loin was absolutely amazing. The it had an amazing crunch Everytime I tore into it. Don katsu sauces had a really nice flavor to it. Savory! The Omurice was really great too. The rice was amazing inside the egg. The curry blended with the Omurice had an outstanding flavor. 10/10 Definitely come here for the mom pop restaurant!! read more
My husband and I both happened to bookmark this place on Yelp and finally decided to try it! We have always wanted a go-to place for tonkatsu and katsu curry. This place is located in a quiet corner of old K-town near Royal and 35. There is plenty of parking and the restaurant is easy to find. The interior is really cute, and you line up to order at the front counter. The menu is relatively simple, and we ended up ordering an original tonkatsu and a tonkatsu curry to share. The portion sizes are HUGE!! The pork chop was pretty much the size of my head. The batter is super light and crispy. The pork itself is a little on the dry side because it's thin, but it was still really delicious with the sauce. The katsu curry was our favorite. The side cabbage salad was refreshing as well. The owner shared some of his homemade kimchi with us, which was so tasty! We will definitely be back! read more
From the outside it doesn't look like much but the inside of the restaurant is nicely decorated. The owner is super nice! We ordered at the register and the food came out very promptly. My katsu was hot, fresh, and fried to perfection. The batter was light and crispy. The cutlet was thin and huge, way bigger than my hand. The curry added tons of flavor and moisture. I'd say the sides weren't my favorite, particularly the salad dressing and the Mac salad flavor. There are a lot of options on the menu that will satisfy everyone. Yummy food! Just wished they gave a little more rice with each dish. Our dishes came with a slice of orange and jalapeños. Mac salad and cabbage salad too. Service was great. The guy at the register who serviced us was really friendly and patient for all 7 of us. It was pretty quiet while we were there. Lots of space in the dining area. read more

We came here looking for katsu that could live up to what we had in LA! The breading is crisp and hot, and the pork was fresh and juicy. The sauce was a twist on the traditional brown sauce that is typically served with katsu - it was almost like a tomato brown gravy that was quite delicious on actually all of our dishes. The "hamburger" dish was a twist on katsu but with ground beef. It was surprisingly tasty. read more

A great little restaurant on the outskirts of K-Town if you're looking for something quick and a good-value for your money. The portions were big enough to share and the curry had a just the right kick to it. I love curry so that was perfect. Fish (2 pieces) and Shrimp Katsu was really good. The slaw and macaroni salad was good, too. It is not on the menu but you can ask for the curry sauce without any extra charge. The hamburger steak dinner is actually a hamburger steak Katsu. Had a crunch and the mushroom gravy that you pour over every made it really tasty. If you want the pickled radishes and jalapenos, just ask the hostess ... again at no charge. read more

Really good korean style katsu. I thought the omurice was okay, but not my favorite. However, this is probably my favorite katsu place in Dallas, the breading is very flaky, and the portions were huge. Good, simple restaurant. read more

Onedon's location is in an awkward spot which meets the first criteria for hole-in-the-wall if there was ever such a standard. It radiates a family-owned charm, ticking off the second criteria. As for the final criteria, the food was absolutely bussin as evidenced by the Texas Mechanical Keyboards Discord group that I happened to befriend during my meal. In their table of 20, not an empty plate. So Onedon specializes in breaded fried pork cutlets. Hearing this, you might think of the thicker Japanese variety; however, the ones served here are of the thinner Korean style. The story goes that back when Korea was a less developed country, they would butterfly their pork to make it give a good illusion of size, and this establishment is no exception. The late lunch itself goes very nicely. I'm the only one there just enjoying my food and then all of a sudden in walks a regular. Strange I thought to myself; didn't they just open? It was quite a sight to see the guy behind the counter and the customer so familiar with each other given the context. Apparently the customer had been there many times and is making their way through the menu. A few moments then goes by and in walks a second set of regulars - mind you this is about 3 pm. Of the second set of regulars, they have formed a line and seemed to be in a single group which I eventually discover as that keyboard group. Strange I thought again as the sight of familiarity repeats itself. Some in that group had been there before and were guiding the others on what to order. Onedon handles the rush well and I'm left flabbergasted as to what just happened. It's a wholesome feeling to see an intimate, successful moment like this. Onedon, I wish you all the best! read more
