We stopped in on a Tuesday afternoon, not knowing that Social Hour (3-6pm) had started. We had our…read moredog with us so we needed to stay on the patio.T We each had a beer. I had my blood orange wheat and he had a milk stout. We sat on a comfy couch next to a large Bouganvilla shrub with nesting birds. Those birds kept buzzing over us. I enjoyed watching them. The inside is nicely decorated with solid wood tables and an extensive whiskey bar. The beer and wine list is also impressive. Service and ambiance were both very good, but the only thing I wish the place offered were misters for outside seating. We were the only ones outside and we are an older couple, so it wasn't economical to have any misters running.

Our first time at this place on a Friday night. Since they had a band playing I reserved the couch…read moreoutside on their lovely patio. The reservation was at 7 pm but when we arrived there was no available couch for us and the hostess didn't know what to do with us. Luckily we spotted some friends seated at one of the couches so we joined them. We ordered our food, enjoyed the band and the food. Even though it was extremely busy the waitstaff did an incredible job and the food arrived hot and quite delicious. Definitely would recommend the cheeseburger and the chicken fingers. Meanwhile I asked to speak to the manager so I could get a refund ( to reserve a couch I had to pay around $40). They refused to refund. I called them the next day and asked for a manager and he was happy to process a refund.

Time to go back and review. I like to revisit places after a few years and see what is different…read more Smoky Mo didn't disappoint. Places are successful because they stay the course and do what they do best. Today we went with the four meat platter, perfect amount for two people, brisket, pulled pork, turkey and sausage. With four side of coleslaw, mac and cheese, potato salad and cornbread. All meats are still sauced unless requested "on the side", but not so much to overwhelm the meat taste. Juicy flavorful pulled pork. Delicious smoked turkey. Brisket was just slightly dry but the sauce and nice bark made it enjoyable. The sausage was AMAZING, juicy and packed with flavor. Coleslaw in my opinion, could use a little more "wetness" but it was still delicious. What can I say about the mac and cheese and potato salad, people from the south, Texas to the Carolina's just know how to get it done. The "Texas Sweet Tea", if you are a diabetic do not drink, however this is a true southern tea, it's done the same all across the south, sugar with some tea thrown in. Four meats, four sides and two drinks with tip $50, not bad for two people, I've definitely spent more for food that didn't even come close to this. Once again Smoky Mo you did not disappoint. If you are a BBQ person this is STILL the best of Tucson. Get out and support this small local business!

There's something deeply comforting about finding the proper East Coast luncheonette in the middle…read moreof the Sonoran Desert. Raptor Canyon Café is a little slice of Jersey tucked into downtown Tucson. It feels like the community it serves, and you can see that community reflected right back at you--all waiting on the same line to be greeted by name. And if your name isn't known, Connie (part owner with her husband, Dennis, and their two sons, Frank and Kenny) will learn it before you leave. Family-owned is embedded into its signature. You taste it in the food. You feel it in the hospitality. And you recognize it in those small, unteachable details that make a place feel lived in rather than designed. There's a certain generosity a family kitchen brings that can't be manufactured by a restaurant group or marketing consultant. In a world increasingly populated by soulless fast-casual concepts and restaurants more concerned with their Instagram presence than the food on your plate, this place feels like a small act of rebellion. Everything they make is unapologetically honest, the way a home-cooked meal feels, and you can't mistake it for anything else. These two brothers care about what they put in front of you as if it were an extension of themselves. The steak fajitas were seasoned with remarkable depth--rich, tomato-forward, and spiced with just the right amount of heat. Every bite revealed another layer of flavor. The green chile chicken sandwich was another knockout. The chicken was remarkably juicy and tender, the green chile bringing depth and warmth without beating you over the head with heat. Not spicy for the sake of being spicy--just savory, earthy, and balanced. Then there's the sourdough cinnamon bun. Light and fluffy inside, with caramelized edges that give way to a warm, buttery cinnamon center. The frosting on top isn't an afterthought or a sugar bomb--it completes the thing, the way a cold glass of milk completes a warm cookie. Familiar, comforting, and dangerously easy to keep pulling apart long after you've told yourself you're full. The family seems to move in a calm harmony, even when lines are reaching the door, every seat is filled, and order tickets hang like a paper wall. Each person knows their role without making it feel rehearsed. Home-cooked recipes served in a classic diner atmosphere, with attention to detail, but more importantly, attention to you. There's an intimacy here--the rare feeling that you're getting more than just a meal; you're being fed. If you're local, where have you been? If you're just passing through, look no further. And if you're from New Jersey, welcome home. P.S. Try the banana bread and grab a handcrafted mug on the way out.

They have a massive menu with a large variety of breakfast and lunch options - today we took the whole office in for lunch! I have to give kudos to the kind gal taking our many individual to-go orders - she was so kind and informative on menu options! My coworkers and I each tried something different from a bacon cheeseburger to the pulled pork sandwich to the street tacos...and we all left happy and satisfied! Everyone enjoyed their meal and said they would go back again! I tried the pulled pork quesadilla and it's up there as one of the best quesadillas I have had - such a fun twist on your classic quesadilla. Loved the crunch from the onion ring INSIDE the quesadilla. It was delightful and tasty. The homemade salsa and homemade chips were great as well. It was the perfect lunch size - all around a 10/10.
