Super disappointed with my experience last night. I had a really tough night and my boyfriend wanted to cheer me up with a late night dessert. We looked at places that were open late and picked ninja matcha. I was so excited. We arrived almost an hour before their closing time of 12 am. We looked at the menu and I was excited to try the matcha shaved ice. It took a little while for him to take our order, but at around 11:10pm, the gentleman working took our order and told me that because they were 'almost closed' they wouldn't be making anymore shaved ice for the night. I don't know if this is policy but it was awful business practice. I ended up getting a matcha soft serve which was good. I don't know that I'll be back because of that experience. I enjoyed the strawberry matcha! At first looking at the ratio, it looks like there is way more strawberry than matcha. But once it settles and seeps in, the ratio looks half and half. There is a bit of strawberry jam at the bottom but I wish there was a tad more than what they put. I didn't even notice it at first. It was delicious and creamy but could probably be a bit creamier if I got regular milk. I usually sub for almond milk so my drinks aren't always the creamiest. I love the bright and bold green color of the matcha! After mixing it, the overall color becomes a super light green. I'd love to try the regular matcha latte next time. We were excited for the concept but ended up with a disappointing experience. When we first walked in there was a weird sewer smell. Not sure where it's coming from as it wasn't as bad towards the back which is where their bathroom is. The ordering was also odd. The staff didn't greet us nor were they helpful navigating the menu which could use more pictures and graphic design help. They didn't tell us they were out of level 3 or 4 till after we ordered. The menu mentions a small pint and large pint. A pint is a standard unit of measurement. You can't have a small or large version. The counter has the containers labeled regular and large. "Large" seems like an actual pint. While the desserts were decent they were overpriced. Since we didn't get to try level 3 or 4, the level 2 wasn't much different than what you could get elsewhere with out the sewer smell. read more

The shaved ice had a strong matcha flavor, so it tasted great both frozen and slightly melted. We got the soft serve as a vanilla and Matcha swirl. It was very creamy and rich just the way we like it. They have a number of dessert options, including ice cream with three different strengths of Matcha. They also have a number of Matcha based drinks. Plenty of indoor seating and free parking in the complex. The service is counter service, but efficient and friendly. Hot strawberry latte was GREAT according to my kid (after the first few sips she thought was gross) the service was OK. It was weird while blending my Yuzu ice blend it was somehow taken to the back room and back out. Not sure why they can't just pour it into the cup in the front and had to go back behind closed curtains. Drinks I thought was ok and a bit bitter. They didn't have regular milk so said there was other options but it cost extra. If they don't have their regular option without up charge, it's nicer if they didn't up charge for not having regular milk we prefer. Don't get the yuzu ice blend. Checked this place twice during my visit in Houston and I would definitely recommend their soft serve! I didn't care for the drinks though, matcha summer and matcha paradise (not pictured). The carbonation wasn't a good mix in my opinion. The matcha paradise had a very strong mint taste that it overpowered the matcha. Place was really clean and the restrooms are for customers only so make sure you ask for a receipt as it'll list the door code and Wi-Fi password. Parking can be hectic but this area is huge so just park so where and explore all the different goodies they have to offer around! This is my favorite place to get shaved ice in bellaire. The proportion is huge for the price, definitely shareable size, and the matcha flavor is really prevalent through out the dessert. However I was disappointed with the mochi balls. There were only two given, and the worse part was the mochi balls were a little hard when they should be soft and chewy. I wished I read some of the updated reviews of this establishment before I came here. I came here on a whim mainly because I have seen it around and wanted to give it a shot. As you enter, the place was very big and spacious; which is good for studying. I was told by the person that I was with that it smelt like old water that has seeped into the building but I didn't notice it until later. We placed our order and the person who placed our order was very nice. We got an Iced Hojicha latte with Oat milk and an Iced Matcha Latte with Almond Milk. The total came out to be around $16 with a $1 charge for alternative milk(s). I noticed that the workstation was very dirty and I didn't noticed it until I paid. Not only was the workstation dirty but the bowls used to whisk the matcha was also dirty and wasn't washed so you can see all the previous matcha that was used in that bowl. Both the matcha and hojicha powders were stored in a fridge which I found odd as both those powders need to stay room temperature. A "Pro" about their drinks is the size of it as it's pretty big. At first glance, the drinks look great, the matcha was a good color and so was the hojicha. However, we took a sip of our drinks we couldn't drink anymore. I tried the matcha latte and it tasted off like it wasn't matcha at all. The hojicha was way easier to drink in my opinion but it fell short. They both tasted very harsh and hard to swallow. We ended up getting different drinks from somewhere else because of how much we didn't like the drinks. Needless to say that I was disappointed.
