I enjoyed the strawberry matcha! At first looking at the ratio, it looks like there is way more strawberry than matcha. But once it settles and seeps in, the ratio looks half and half. There is a bit of strawberry jam at the bottom but I wish there was a tad more than what they put. I didn't even notice it at first. It was delicious and creamy but could probably be a bit creamier if I got regular milk. I usually sub for almond milk so my drinks aren't always the creamiest. I love the bright and bold green color of the matcha! After mixing it, the overall color becomes a super light green. I'd love to try the regular matcha latte next time. Service was quick with the baristas working efficiently and quickly behind the counter. You can watch them whisk matcha as well out in the open.
I come here regularly for the matcha ice cream. I love how this place is to taste and provides you with different levels of matcha. From my experience, the service is pretty fast, and I like how there's a rewards system that encourages me to go back for another taste!
We were excited for the concept but ended up with a disappointing experience. When we first walked in there was a weird sewer smell. Not sure where it's coming from as it wasn't as bad towards the back which is where their bathroom is. The ordering was also odd. The staff didn't greet us nor were they helpful navigating the menu which could use more pictures and graphic design help. They didn't tell us they were out of level 3 or 4 till after we ordered. The menu mentions a small pint and large pint. A pint is a standard unit of measurement. You can't have a small or large version. The counter has the containers labeled regular and large. "Large" seems like an actual pint. While the desserts were decent they were overpriced. Since we didn't get to try level 3 or 4, the level 2 wasn't much different than what you could get elsewhere with out the sewer smell.
This location is right off the freeway, on Bellaire Street. Once you enter the parking lot, it's on the first floor, the end cap of the building. Ninja Matcha is family-owned by "Charles" and he began this business in 2018 with his wife and children. Charles is educated on the Japanese style of refined, Matcha taste. As I sat with Charles, his intention was to curate flavors that cater to a refined taste for Matcha. Thus, Ninja Matcha offers Matcha levels 1, 2 or 3 for beginners through long term Matcha addicts . The menu items include Matcha ice creams, milk teas and desserts. This is the real deal folks! The flavored syrups are home made, therefore you NEED to tell them "Level of Sweetness" otherwise, it will be too sweet. I hardly like sugar, so 20-30% sweetness is enough, while 50% is too much for me. ACCOMMODATIONS are made upon request, "easy ice", "sweetness level". "Matcha strength level" and "milk option (oat, almond, whole milk). We were finally content to find an authentic, true Asian, Matcha tea place where you can sit with a friend and catch up. I had the Mango Matcha and my 14 year old son had the Hojicho Coconut. It was well blended and tasty! Charles shared that he has also been training some employees, therefore if your Matcha is not to your taste, let him know your preference. Prices are affordable and there's no discrimination, they take all paying customers of CASH or CREDIT. Restroom is for Patron Customers and while I was there, it was clean. We sat comfortably and there was no smell that we noticed. I am assuming those who mentioned it came when there was heavy rains.
Solid dessert option in Chinatown, especially for matcha lovers. The menu features everything from ice cream to lattes to milk teas.. and I like how you can choose levels of matcha intensity (aka how much do you not want to sleep tonight lol) Service was efficient and spacious interior with a decent amount tables. Parking can be a pain depending on what time and day you go to this plaza. (Weekends in Chinatown will definitely put your driving patience to the test) I got a custom mango matcha latte and also tried out my friends' soft serve and ice cream. All are pretty solid with a good amount of sweetness. The cleanliness of the restaurant was a bit sloppy, there was a weird smell when we sat down and the bathrooms weren't maintained as well. Overall a good option in Chinatown for dessert in a competitive area. Good stop to satisfy your matcha cravings.
I heard a lot about this place and was excited to finally try it after passing by many times. I was sadly disappointed by the quality of the drink. I might return to order something else and give it another try, but I figured the matcha latte would be a classic to start with. The matcha latte I received tasted diluted, and it wasn't as smooth as expected. Another thing I noticed other reviews mentioned, and something I noticed immediately as I walked in, there is a bathroom/sewage smell. It had rained a little bit that night so it might be the rain, but it still smelled pretty bad inside. The service was good and helpful, and there were a fair amount of seats available for a Saturday night. However, in summary, for a place that focuses on matcha, I was expecting more.
Sad to say that this place has gone way down hill. We came on a Saturday after lunch around 12:30 and ordered an iced oat milk matcha latte. I asked the cashier if they had oat milk before I ordered, and he said yes. I ordered and paid, he turns around and says, oh...we don't have anymore oat milk to his coworker. So he comes to me and asks me if I would like soy or almond. I ended up just getting whole milk and put in matcha boba topping instead, for the same price of alternative milk. The drink looked amazing, but the matcha tasted weak and cheap. I'm not sure what brand of matcha they use but for being a dedicated matcha place, I would have expected higher quality. The matcha was dull, to put it kindly. The bathrooms were not maintained at all. It was dirty and unkept. So disappointing that it seems like this place has gone downhill.
ORDER Matcha shaved ice with Matcha jelly and Matcha Boba - super yummy with great Matcha flavored throughout the shaved ice. My family really liked their jelly and the Boba. The soft serve is also very delicious and creamy with good matcha flavor. Iced Matcha Latte - Great strong matcha flavor with good ratios of milk to matcha. It wasn't too sweet as well, so absolutely delicious!! VIBES Crowded on a Saturday night with some people studying and families enjoying matcha! Cute art around the interior and decently clean! SERVICE Service is great! Quick and nice!
Soft serve ice cream was what we came here for. It was not bad but not the greatest. Service was quick and attentive. The indoor decor was not bad either.
Great dessert place for matcha lovers that is also open late! We got the Matcha shaved ice, which also came with soft. Serve ice cream and two free toppings. The shaved ice had a strong matcha flavor, so it tasted great both frozen and slightly melted. We got the soft serve as a vanilla and Matcha swirl. It was very creamy and rich just the way we like it. They have a number of dessert options, including ice cream with three different strengths of Matcha. They also have a number of Matcha based drinks. Plenty of indoor seating and free parking in the complex. The service is counter service, but efficient and friendly. We love the dog murals, which were absolutely adorable in the store.
Cute spot in China Town. Menu is not huge but has what you would expect from a matcha dessert spot. Went midday on a Friday. Not crowded and quite mellow. Service was quick and attentive.
I came in after lunch and was quite skeptical but hopeful seeing the menu, I just ordered the iced matcha latte and it was so GOOD. I'm honestly quite surprised the ratings are on the lower end. The worker was nice about helping with choosing my options and my drink out very quick. The store is spacious making it a great space to hang out :)
The soft serve was amazing! It was so creamy and the vanilla and matcha flavors complimented each other so well. The service was friendly and quick. The place itself its cute and they have enough tables to chat or study if you would like.

The vibe inside is great, and I love the murals on the walls. We did a boba crawl around this street after having dinner and we ended up choosing this place to try out. We didn't get the boba from here, and instead got an ice cream cone. I like that they have soft served and scoop options. I didn't use the bathroom so I don't know how clean it is, but the main area did look clean and well maintained for a Friday night. My daughter got a sample of the ice cream and liked it. So we got the soft serve, but at almost $10 or with tip for a small soft serve ice cream, I cannot give them the full five stars, even if it is premium matcha. I will say, however, that it did taste like matcha and not a water down version. read more

I decided to stop by because I was craving a strawberry matcha, and this place definitely did not disappoint! Parking was a little hectic, but that's pretty typical for Chinatown, so it wasn't unexpected. When you walk in, you order through a kiosk, which makes the process quick and easy. They offer a wide selection of ceremonial-grade matcha drinks and ice cream, which is impressive. There was plenty of seating available during my visit, though I could see it becoming limited during busier hours. The shop itself was cute, with colorful artwork and paintings decorating the walls. One downside was that it felt quite warm inside, which made it less comfortable to sit and enjoy my drink. There was also a noticeable odor in the shop, possibly due to the lack of air conditioning. One thing I really appreciated was being able to watch the staff prepare the matcha right in front of customers using traditional whisks. It added an authentic touch and showed the care that goes into each drink. As for the strawberry matcha, it was excellent. The drink was perfectly sweet with a great balance between the earthy matcha and the fruity strawberry flavors. Neither flavor overpowered the other, creating a refreshing and well-crafted drink. Overall, if you're looking for a quick spot to grab an authentic strawberry matcha, I would definitely recommend giving this place a try. There a nice ambiance and they play nice music. Very cute and chill. The cashier/server was a nice guy, but a little awkward. I'm sure it was just an off day, though. The most important part is the foot which I thoroughly enjoyed! The ice ream was not too sweet and I liked that you can choose the level of matcha that you want. read more

3.5/5 stars Came here after dinner for dessert. We got the matcha soft serve (medium strength) and 2 scoop on a cone (black sesame and matcha). They advertise sourcing matcha from Japan but I didn't think the matcha had a strong flavor. For the medium strength I could barely taste it. And I've had matcha in Kyoto this year. Maybe I needed to order the strongest strength to get a hint of the matcha. The black sesame flavor was also super mild. It tasted kind of bland. Overall not terrible just underwhelming. It's a decent dessert place if you just want ice cream. Just don't expect sourcing-from- Japan level authentic slap you in the face flavors- not even the black sesame. The portion size of the soft serve was smaller than I expected for something so expensive. My scoops were good portion. The place was mostly empty when we came. Lots of seating. Cool wall art. The cashier guy was quick but his greeting was one of boredom. I guess I don't blame him. Wish I could give it a higher rating.. read more
This place was super cute! From the vibe, to wall art, to the people! Can't speak to the drinks but can give you the 411 on what my friends said. How can you not get matcha here! My friend was able to adjust her sweetness and loved loved loved her matcha drink. My other friend got the hojicha coconut and i did have a sip. A little bit more earthy and nutty without the bitterness. Now, the ube soft serve is where I chime in...a must have!! If you don't get The ube soft serve here then what are you even doing!? The ube flavor is amazing, the consistency is perfect, and the cone topped it off. 1000% recommend. Don't leave this place without getting it. read more

Nut allergy friendly, I didn't even ask. A cute dessert shop with more options than just matcha! They do have matcha soft serve and ice cream, with the ice cream having several levels of matcha intensity. There are other ice cream flavors like ube too! It is a bit pricier. Service was very quick as there was no line when we went. We got one scoop of the matcha ice cream at Level 4 and it was enough for 3 people to have a little each. We really liked the intensity of the matcha overall. Would return again to try other flavors or do a comparison between the levels. read more

Got the matcha affogato for ~8 tax and tip. WS really yummy with bitter matcha pairing nicely w the very sweet vanilla creamy ice cream. I almost wished it was with the matcha soft serve instead though... service was super fast. Great study location with chill ambiance and free WiFi with no time limit. Ample parking in the plaza as well. read more

My friend tried this matcha place in Houston Chinatown called ninja matcha and was raving about it so we came back to get some for dessert. They recommended the level 3 matcha ice cream and I got it in a cone. You can tell the matcha is really high quality and deep in flavor compared to other casual places. It had a touch of bitterness and a light natural sweetness. My friends also got a matcha latte and a matcha ice blend and liked it. I got the cone but I recommend the cup for convenience and less messiness read more

Hot strawberry latte was GREAT according to my kid (after the first few sips she thought was gross) the service was OK. It was weird while blending my Yuzu ice blend it was somehow taken to the back room and back out. Not sure why they can't just pour it into the cup in the front and had to go back behind closed curtains. Drinks I thought was ok and a bit bitter. They didn't have regular milk so said there was other options but it cost extra. If they don't have their regular option without up charge, it's nicer if they didn't up charge for not having regular milk we prefer. Don't get the yuzu ice blend. It comes with the milk we thought was told would go into the strawberry latte. Yuzu drink was bitter and tasted weird. It came out of the jar I saw the lady scooped out to blend. The surrounding was really clean and cool looking- according to My daughter who loved it! read more

Checked this place twice during my visit in Houston and I would definitely recommend their soft serve! I didn't care for the drinks though, matcha summer and matcha paradise (not pictured). The carbonation wasn't a good mix in my opinion. The matcha paradise had a very strong mint taste that it overpowered the matcha. Place was really clean and the restrooms are for customers only so make sure you ask for a receipt as it'll list the door code and Wi-Fi password. Parking can be hectic but this area is huge so just park so where and explore all the different goodies they have to offer around! The wall art inside really cute and makes a nice photo op. read more
Came in Friday night around 10 pm, had a steady stream of customers but able to find seating easily. Got the matcha shaved ice, was massive, easily enough for 2 people for 9$, pretty good deal. Ambiance is fairly casual but seems like a good way to end a date. read more

I love matcha so this cafe is a must for me to try. The cafe has cute wall painting, and it is clean and quiet. I had the matcha shaved ice with mochi balls, and red bean for toppings, and black sesame as my choice of soft serve. The black sesame soft serve was yummy. The black sesame taste was strong enough, and the soft serve was smooth. The matcha shaved ice itself was awesome. Matcha was bitter with hint of sweetness. Exactly what Matcha should taste like. However I was disappointed with the mochi balls. There were only two given, and the worse part was the mochi balls were a little hard when they should be soft and chewy. If I were to visit the cafe again, I would try the soft serve instead. read more

I got these sesame matcha latte 50% sugar. Drink was pretty good. Service was friendly but they were confused on who ordered what and forgot to make my drink. Like that's all I ordered. Anyway I'll come back to try their soft serve another day. read more

This is my favorite place to get shaved ice in bellaire. The proportion is huge for the price, definitely shareable size, and the matcha flavor is really prevalent through out the dessert. I like how the matcha shaved ice includes 3 toppings, which help with flavor fatigue when consuming such a large amount of shaved ice. The matcha flavor is decent, not too bitter but not weak, and the dessert as a whole is not overwhelmingly sweet. It's very refreshing and light! The venue itself has a decent amount of seating and makes a good late night spot to chill with friends after dinner. Definitely recommend this place!! read more
I've gotten soft serve here along with various matcha drinks (like their coconut and lavender variations). If I'm in the area this is my go to place because I love a lavender matcha, and I have to get 2 because if not my boyfriend will drink all of mine even if we mean to "share it" lol. I definitely was not feeling this place. I got to try 3 of their items and they were lackluster & needing a lot of improvements. The place looks nice, service was okay but the desserts were close to being a joke. Here's what we ordered. * Black Sesame ice blended- it just tasted like ice with a pinch of black sesame. This drink needs a lot of help. What's sad is that we had to add some sesame sauce from the Matcha shaved ice to give it more flavor. * 2 scoops of Black sesame ice cream- it was weak in terms of any black sesame flavor & it wasn't as creamy as I would've liked it. * Matcha shaved ice with black sesame sauce with red bean- this was probably the best out of the 3. The sesame sauce was potent & flavorful. The red beans had a good amount of sweetness to it. The matcha ice cream was creamy & the matcha flavor was there. But I didn't enjoy the matcha shaved ice because it had more of a slushy consistency versus it being light, airy, fluffy & with a creamy texture. Overall it was a very underwhelming experience & maybe it was their off day. I will however give this spot another chance. read more

It was quiet with not a lot of customers. I decided to get a matcha level 2 soft serve for me I thought maybe it was too much matcha even though I love my matcha, maybe I love the creaminess more. For example I love my matcha lattes, and matcha bubble waffle from happy lemon, but I guess level 2 was pushing the borders where I didn't necessarily enjoy my soft serve, thank goodness I got it in a cone to help I'll stick with level 1 for the creaminess and matcha lattes read more

This place was very tasty! Service is very quick and the location is nice and clean. Parking is kind of difficult on the weekends due to the plaza but nothing out of the ordinary there. Strawberry Matcha (2/5): Nothing too crazy. Not a strong strawberry flavor and the matcha here was also mild overall very bland. Hojicha Latte (4/5): This was very tasty! It had a strong tea flavor and was great on a cold day. Matcha Icecream Level 2 (4/5): The level two had the perfect amount of bitter but still slightly sweet. My friend said it's very close to the flavor of matcha icecream she had in japan! Panda Icecream (4/5): I love pandan flavored things so this was a favorite for me. read more

The best matcha soft serve evaaaaaa I have looked for a good matcha soft serve and latte for a longggg time after my trip to Seattle, there was a matcha shop in Seattle which becomes my fave spot and i was so craving for that. I tried Saigon Art Matcha and Le'Drip but they are not good as I expected from what i read on reviews. Saigon Art Matcha - their ice cream is too sweet and you can taste the milk more than the matcha, Le'Drip - a new spot just open in chinatown, i ordered matcha latte even add extra shot of matcha it still taste milky and medium cup approximately is same size with talle size of starbucks for $6.15 w/o tax. BUT, Ninja Matcha is just perfect what i need and I'm totally addicted!! Definitely will come back to try sesame ice cream and levels' matcha ice cream *curiously* read more
